TICKET PROCESS IS HORRIBLE!!! I havent attended the train ride yet, I will update my review in December. What I am upset about is the ticket purchasing process. I called 2 days in advance to speak with someone because we had a large group. The lady that answered the phone told me it would be no problem to call and that extra people will be on hand to help with the calls. I set an alarm and called at 9:59a since tickets went on sale at 10a! The phone just rang, then it hung up. I called back and it was busy. I logged on the computer at 10:02 and the site had a 16 minute waiting gue. I stayed only for it to crash, got back on a second time and it was 18 minutes and when we got down to 5 minutes; it jumped up to 52 minutes. I understand that this is a popular attraction, with that knowledge the City or whoever is in charge should keep their word and make sure that people are able to reach someone. My sister and I tag teamed calling; even waited an hour. NO ONE EVER answered a phone. They lied.

As a grandmother, I have looked forward to this trip with my four grandkids. I was sitting in front of my computer waiting for 10 AM to register. I kept trying to buy tickets clicking, clicking clicking online as soon as it turned 10 AM. Then I was put in a so-called waiting room for an hour. When it was finally my time, there was nothing left on any day anytime. This has to be rigged!!! It deserves a one star

The online ticket ordering system is absolutely HORRIBLE. I m really disappointed in the lack of good software and technology here. The chance of getting tickets is very, very low. Dont count on this for your kid s Christmas magic, despite the train giving advance notice. Why should they care, they get their money anyway.

Very disappointed with the ticket process. It had me wait in a queue page for an hour. I had been waiting to get tickets prior which the site didn t go live until 5 mins after. Once I was finally in there was nothing available. Also every time I would try to click a seat it just zoomed into the page. The legend is also confusing because it said the greyed out areas are unavailable but also another grey was for facing seats so it was hard to tell what was even available not that it even let me click on anything.

Terrible ticketing process. First off, the link didn t go live for me until 1005 when it said they would go on sale at 1000. I was on my phone and my laptop. Also, I wanted the stockyards tickets and didn t realize there was a different link or area I had to go to to access this terrible ticketing software. When I finally got where I needed to be (one webpage on regular tickets and one on the stockyards), I had to wait online to get into a virtual line (WTF?). Once in line, had to wait another 15 mins. An annoying person was slowly walking across my screen as it got closer to my time. This guy might as well had laid down and taken a nap. FINALLY, got access, and then you had to hit Get Tickets and the screen refreshed. Then hit seat selection and then it refreshed. (Why is there this secondary page when you can go right to the seats from Get Tickets ?). Once you click on tickets, it takes several seconds to Refresh and reserve the ticket for you. So you may only get to click on one bench before you can select another one, and they are being picked up by other people like freaking vultures at carcasses. I finally had my seats and went to checkout with about a minute left (because you only have 15 mins to attack the seats like your playing a game of Wack-a-mole). I had EVERYTHING filled out for payment except my email address and had to check two boxes and hit submit/confirm/process, and this VERY user friendly and adaptive software kicked me off! I lost my tickets I had been diligently working on getting. I tried to retrieve my tickets, and they were swallowed up like a fat kid eating cake by the time I got back to the seat selection page (remember the multi-page refresh problem yeah). I have done this two years in a row, and this is by far the most horrible ticketing experience I have ever been through. I will not be trying again next year. I wasted over an hour of my time I could had been playing with my son. Thank you Polar Express Grapevine. Ruining lives one click at a time.

Went in November of 22 with my 5 yr old and pre teen. Nothing like the polar express ride. Mrs. Clause was rude. After you get off the ride, you grab a plastic kiddie cup of cold chocolate milk. They do have cute Christmas decorations and Christmas music along for the ride. But will not return! The Polar Express in Palestine is 10x better.

The train goes 10 miles then stops a half hour, and then goes nowhere then returns in reverse 10 miles and stops an hour for a train to pass by The food is horrible. Chips and a sandwich in a box. The beer is warm. The cars are loud. This is a total punishment it s not even a train ride. It s more of a booze cruise to nowhere.

It has nothing to do with the movie Polar Express. The bathroom on the train was disgusting and the train took off 20 minutes later than scheduled. The whole experience was a major letdown and we will not be back. Don t waste your money.

This is perfect for kids. Theres a person dressed in elf who keeps interactive and engaging. They give you a cookie per person, bell for kids and memory mug with delicious chocolate milk in it. The ride is 45 minutes and you get a free photo with Santa. However in my opinion $40 isnt worth the price.

We paid $160 and travelled over 45 mins + paid to park to have a mediocre experience. A lot of moms that got tickets actually felt the same. Total waste of time and money for a 4 seconds hello from Santa and a cold hot chocolate in a plastic cup. This was not the magical experience we were expecting and we left feeling underwhelmed. I do not recommend the Polar Express Grapevine. There are so many other activities to spend your time and money on.

I ll start with the positives: the train is very well decorated and our main elf in our car was excellent and had a lot of energy and excitement. I don t know how he did it over and over again with such enthusiasm. Now here s my .02: If you re a polar express (book/movie) fan, this is not it. Sure it has elves , Santa, and plenty of kid friendly entertainment definitely not anything related to THE polar express. It s just a train ride with activities for 45 minutes. Also the train ride itself just takes you through industrial parts , stops. And reverses back to the station. Even my 5 year old understood what was going on and was wondering why we re going back where we started. There is literally nothing to see outside so keep kids in aisle row to get close to entertainment.

We have attended this event for 5 out of the last 6 years and it used to be a magical experience with shows, real reindeer and Mrs Claus delivering cookies to the kids and leading everyone in Christmas carols! This year it was just a sad forced shell of what it used to be. No one seemed happy to be there. It all started with the dumpster fire that was purchasing tickets! We waited online for almost an hour for our turn to buy tickets and when we entered the platform we were given 10-15 minutes to pick a date and time from limited options and purchase our tickets. When we arrived the shuttle never came.to pick up visitors so we had to pay for parking, the carousel, which was the only thing to do, didnt seem to be open as the ticket booth was closed the entire afternoon. The only other thing on the midway to take advantage of was a corndog stand and a vendor that sells beardgrooming supplies and another that sells jewelry....very Christmasy (sarcastic) The train ride (which left abt 30 mi utes late) was a hokey interaction with a PA system that no one could hear and couldnt follow along with, no Christmas carols and the experience culminated with a skinny 23 year old Santawith a short brown beard and an obvious pillow stuffed in his jacket!!! WHAT THE HECK? Every adult on our train car just laughed in disappointment bc no one knew how to react Our kids actually asked us where Santa was bc that wasnt him. At $40 a ticket this wasnt worth it! We agreed that we definitely made memories from this. We didnt even bother getting pictures with Santa bc we couldnt deal with any more disappointment This is the last year we are going. Not worth it!!!!

I wouldnt go again. The train didnt depart until 20 mins after the scheduled time, and it made several stops. I think the total time the train moved was about 10 mins, and was stopped about 30 mins. The train goes forward a bit, then reverses back to the station. There was a cute elf on the train who interacted with an annoying prerecorded conductor and Mrs. Claus over the speaker. They hand out a packaged cookie and a plastic mug of chocolate milk, which you get to keep. The bells are only handed out to the kids even though my ticket cost the same as my kids. There was no show, just an elf having a conversation with a speaker system. Santa came on the train and took pictures with each family. The bench seat that is wheelchair accessible has a window that will be opened during the ride so that the train doesnt get too hot inside, per the conductors explanation.

Worth it if your kiddo is really into trains and into Christmas. You can make it special by wearing the PJs and hyping it up but not sure its truly worth the cost unless you just want something to do. You wont see much on the train at night. We saw someone changing clothes in their living room which was awkward. If you missed out on tickets, not the end of the world.

Sooooo disappointed in the reservation process this year!!! And they keep raising the price of the tickets (now $40), and taking away some of the magic! No more show after the train ride!!! All the entertainment is on each train. And I don t think it s right to make a family of 3 buy 4 tickets, since tickets must be bought in pairs!!! Last year, we only took our two youngest, and they didn t get to experience the snow either since it was broken when we were there. Sadly, our family s tradition for the past 10 years has come to an end. Oh, and they have miniaturized the mug of frosty chocolate milk! So you get maybe 1/4 of a cup of this great blend of milk and chocolate! Will not be returning. Sad! Because it was such a great tradition back in the day before Covid.

They no longer have the performance with elves prior to boarding the train. The chocolate milk is not hot chocolate. They charge more and they sell the tickets in July. So that mom groups can purchase all the tickets way in advance. Who is thinking of Christmas activities in July? Grapevine has made his a money making event and have lost the magic it used to hold for so many families.

Did this with our young elementary aged kiddo in December of 2021 and 2022. In 21 we had Santa on the train who personally visited each family and took a photo there on the train(it was fantastic) this year in 22 no Santa on the train and replaced with a poorly done 6minute theater production of two elves and Santa once the train ride is over in a tent. If you ve done this ride before beware that the changes the owners made make the entire experience less impactful and less personal for the kids. Highly recommend you avoid this attraction.

We visited last Friday and drove 7 hours to attend. To be honest it was a great concept but just lacked any soul. The venue is great...the train was super neat.... but there were many things that were just a miss. Maybe our expectations were too high but the atmosphere was just dead.... seemed like they had minimal staff and they were just tired. The ride was nice but the children just looked into darkness. The singing was just maybe three songs with very little energy. The Santa did great but again just seemed tired and worn out. The kiddos were super excited about the event but having young kids waiting in line, boarding the train, eating a cookie without a drink had many of the kiddos asking for water which there was none. I was expecting an environment with lots of energy and fun but sadly we had just the opposite. I even asked other parents there if they expected more and they all agreed. I plan on taking my children to another polar express but it will not be in Grapevine.

We ve had many people tell us about the whole experience they had when they ve gone in the past and it felt like the company decided to just save money this year and cheapen the experience. The train car was nice. Santa and Mrs. Claud were nice. The views were of trailers that aren t well kept, warehouses, homes in need of some TLC, and some trees. I wouldn t suggest that anyone pay $35-40 a person for this experience until they add the ending pieces back onto the event.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! A few friends and I thought it would be a fun holiday adventure. We were very wrong. The 45 min train ride is very underwhelming and kind of boring. Even the children did not enjoy themselves. We purchased first class tickets and were seated in the coach class car and our group was separated. On the website it does say if there are odd numbers in the group someone may be separated so we purchased an even number of tickets to make sure we would sit together but this did not happen. The ride consisted of warehouse and apartment building views. The snowy Christmas village was just some small Christmas trees arranged in a zig zag pattern that you walk through after the ride. Even the frosty chocolate snow milk was a disappointment! the souvenir cup was filled with about 3oz of drink. There is no reference to the book throughout the experience. The cherry on top or us was when Santa was not able to take pictures with our family because he ran out of time. I do understand there are a lot of families on the train but it is still disappointing. This is setup like a giant money grab and nothing more. Save your money and walk around downtown grapevine for free. Your family will have more fun looking at the lights and decorations than they will on this train!

So the train is cute. They decorate it, give you chocolate milk in a keepsake cup, a cookie, and the kids get a bell. The play songs on the radio and try and get to sing. As for the view, its ugly. You look at basically nothing. Some ugly bridges, and ugly trees. No Christmas decorations or Christmas lights at all. I thought youd ride by something Christmas like to look at. If youve ever ridden the stock yard train its exactly like that. Same style train, you go forward for maybe 20minutes, stop, then backup back to where you came. Then you get to go to Santas workshop which was fun. They blow fake snow outside and inside they put on a little show. You get a complimentary pic with santa too. Theres other stuff to do around there but isnt included with the ticket price, but there is a Christmas town. Thats where you board and unload. Had there been some sort of decorations or lights or something to look out at on the train rather than the ugly view of urban graffiti bridges then I would have given a higher rating. For the price its not bad since you do get the santa photo, mug, cookie, bell, ride, and the workshop show.

Such a DISAPPOINTING experience. For the money, I would NOT recommend this event. Go to Six Flags. Much better value!!! Plus, They pretty much ripped off their entire performance (if you could call it that) from the movie Elf....characters, lines, the whole bit. I hope they paid The licensing fees to use all that material! Our train went about 3 mph for about 20 mins in one direction (with absolutely nothing to see). Then it stopped, sat there, and reversed back to our starting point. The train was dirty and gross. Costumes were tattered and did not fit. Buddy the elf s had a beard. Complete waste of money and rip off.

Fun train ride! Unfortunately, due to covid a lot has changed but the kids were excited either way. The actors on the train were so good. The only thing is, prices have increased and I wouldnt say that was because they added something new. They took away the big show after the train ride because of covid so Im not sure what the price hike was for. Overall, we made new memories with the kids and thats what made it special.

Seen a few apartments with lights. More construction than anything! My kids enjoyed the little show after the train ride! Advise to just catch the show and skip the train ride! My kids hated it!

I attended this tonight with my family. I appreciate the logistics of the event and how organized it was. The train ride was unusual. The staff (on the train) were very kind and sweet to the kids. The announcer was strange and robotic, as she sternly announced the rules that kids need to follow. The scenery (outside of the train) was nothing... The train just traveled the tracks to the back of the DFW airport and came right back. - After exiting the train, we walked through some snow which was actually soapy water. The investment to get real snow blowers would have been nice. The finale performance in the large tent (a.k.a. The North Pole) was what was most disheartening. The adults sat in cheap foldout chairs while the children were allowed to sit down around the stage. - Keep in mind that these 2, 3, and 4 year old children had just been sitting down for an hour straight, or longer... The performer known as the elf juggled and did a cute sketch for the kids. What was strange and shocking was that three different times, he yelled (yes, I typed yelled) at the kids to get off the stage! Kids were not on the stage but were standing up (instead of sitting) trying to wave at the performer. The third time the performer yelled, he was yelling at a child with down syndrome and other disabilities. I was floored! - My suggestion: save your $200 and go visit the ICE exhibit at the Gaylord Texan.

Tricky to get tickets for this, selling out in hours, but its worth it. The train makes a short round trip out east and back to the station. On the ride youll sing Christmas songs and enjoy some snowy chocolate milk with a souvenir cup. At the halfway point Mrs. Claus will give the kids a high quality etched jingle bell. When you get back to the station you exit to the North Pole where theres a show with Santa and his elves. A very memorable experience and the kids love it.

We did not have a good experience. I understand it may have been unusual circumstances, but I need to share in case it happens again. We rode the train on a day (Dec. 19) they were apparently testing the new train from DFW to Fort Worth. As a result, we had to stop numerous times. The 20-30 min. train ride turned into a 2 hour train ride, and most of the time we were not moving. We were on one of the worst cars (very small windows) with no air and no food outside of cookies. By the end, all of the kids were going crazy - hot, bored, and tired. We had to miss all of the post-train activities because it was way past my daughters naptime when we finally got off. Despite several complaints, the North Pole Express is refusing to do anything to compensate us for the bad experience. Overall, I cannot recommend the company or the experience.

The kiddo enjoyed seeing the train and the show afterwards, and also liked the snow that was around the scene. He also chugged the drink they gave him. One real point that needs improvement is the line / wait management. We waited quite a while outside, then once inside we just waited more but in a more cramped and loud environment, which is not the most pleasant thing when having to deal with kiddos. With nowhere to sit, and nothing to do - this was stressful.

Agree with others that the views are bad and like another reviewer, my 6 year old was upset at how fake it was (pretty sure this killed the magic for her). In addition, our train was 1 hour late starting. Ive been on other Polar Express-like trains in other cities and this was the worst. We sang 1 Christmas carol. Boarding and getting off at the same location doesnt work when you are trying to tell the kids you went far away to the Santas workshop. The kids know they passed it on the way to board the train and then walk right back to the car without needing to take another train ride afterwards. Very disappointed.

Overall poor experience for our family. Lets start with the good... Cool train for a toddler to ride. Well decorated areas and things to do before getting in-line. Negatives-the required/recommended time to arrive is way too early. We were told to arrive approximately 45 minutes before ticketed time. However, the actual wait was well over one and a half hours. The wait EXCEEDED the ticketed start time by over 25 minutes. Most of your time will be spent in a line that has nothing to provide a distraction for children... Boring tent with dingy green carpeting and never ending loop of infomercials to Gaylord Texan (Everything a toddler could ask for). Now, lets move to the worst.. They seated us next to a Tash can that smelled of rancid milk and lost dreams. So of all the seats we were the only ones that couldnt adjust to see each other (the other seats reversed so you could change direction of view to inward). I guess not the trash isle. Lastly, a bit concerning. Currently they are sharing this rail line with trainees for the new commuter rail going to DFW airport. This was announced during our ride as we had to stop to allow the other train to go past us. Maybe its better not to have live trainings on the same tracks with a train full of families. My recommendation is to pass this event at all costs. Just go to the Thomas the train event which is much better and run with more consideration to the guests.

This is a nice family event that cost $28.00 a person. You get a free 4x6 picture with Santa, a floor show and a train ride (that for the children, includes a bell, cup of chocolate milk and a cookie). You can also ride a carousel, see reindeer and write a letter to Santa. Theres a Christmas tree lot that has real snow coming down, the kids love it. Its a nice family evening. After your great time here go across the street to AJs and have some great BBQ.

We did see a Amazon warehouse though. Then Santa.... he could have definitely been nicer. We were closer to the end of the line and he was far from jolly. He didnt say a word to my kids and didnt even smile in the photos. I dont think Id do it again or recommend it.
