best train ride in Texas, always fun to ride and people( the passengers are intersting) best ride in america for the price you pay, longer then any other scenic train ride in the USA and i have been on over 80 around the USA and as one person , why the delays? this train runs on trains owned by the bigger companies so they must follow what they are told they can do, also the delays are built into the schedule the only thing i will say bad about it, is the so called train robbery skit that has nothing to do with a western train robbery but has been rewritten so badly that most passengers i have talked to dont like, nor do they understand why they are bothering with doing it cause its not western at all , and may cause me as a long time rider to stop riding the train, cause its just a bother with that going on

Trying to book the Polar Express is the most frustrating experience I have ever had. They use Queue- It to manage website traffic. I got in virtual line early and was down to 8 minutes than it jumped to over an hour. When I was finally let in there were zero tickets left. Absolute BS.

It is 10:09 as I m typing this. My wife tried to get tickets for the Christmas wine train which went on sale at 10. Tickets were sold out by 10:01 and she refreshed at that time. There were no tickets available. It s clearly bots buying out the tickets. Please get a pre-sale or something where locals can get the tickets at the normal price.

Woww I just love the experience of the vintage train. My 5 year old along with her grandma enjoyed the train ride, the activities in the train including board games were amazing. I would recommend to experience the train ride, though I went in summer, I recommend to experience this in the winter too.

Took the ride from Grapevine to the stockyards. Staff was super friendly, snacks were reasonably priced and they had characters do silly little skits. Only one hiccup was something went wrong with the generators and the a/c went out. Not very pleasant sitting in a hot metal box in August. We ended up going and sitting in the open air cart. We would definitely do this trip again just not in the heat of summer lol.

I absolutely loved the experience of traveling on a vintage train. The Cotton Belt Route excursion is a great value. The train travels from Grapevine to The Stockyards in Ft. Worth, where you can depart the train and explore the Stockyards for about 2 hours. Travel times from the station to Ft. Worth and back vary depending upon the other trains that share the tracks with the vintage train, but on a Sunday, it was about an hour each way. Not to mention that you are allowed to bring food and drinks with you, concessions are also sold on the train, and they give you a little theatrics to make your trip more enjoyable. 10 out of 10. Definitely scheduling another excursion.

Our party of 6 (5 adults and one toddler) went on the Cotton Belt Route starting from Grapevine Vintage Railroad. Even though you could drive directly to the Stockyards, we enjoyed our train ride there. There were actors that included a skit on the ride to entertain us along the way. It took almost an hour for the train ride (one-way), and we were thankful there were little further delays, having read other online reviews. We had chosen air-conditioned cabins - very helpful for rainy days like these. We had bought tickets two months in advance and the seats were reserved for us, so no rushing or queuing was really needed. The ticketing office was very helpful when asked for recommendations on what to do while waiting to board our train. The visitor centre was beautiful and had an interactive dinosaur exhibit & play area for kids, and a large train model on display. Grapevine Main had a European-style food hall with a great coffee shop and diverse range of foods - Italian, sushi, Thai, Mediterranean (gyros and bowls), etc. We also had 2 hours to walk about and look around the Stockyards when we arrived, with the highlight of witnessing a cattle drive. Its all in all a pleasant experience and a great day out for our family. I would recommend taking one day out if one wants a touristy experience of the Wild West. A lot of the buildings in the area have been refurbished and there are a lot of modern shops, gift shops, and food options.

I can t say if this is true for all the special rides on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad, but Dinos on the Tracks was essentially just a train ride, and a shorter one than advertised at that. Besides dinosaur coloring sheets, there were no dinosaurs (or dinosaur decorations for that matter) in sight, and we couldn t hear the paleontologist narration over the speakers. The kids enjoyed looking out the windows the first half of the train ride, but we were all a bit bored on the way back. Bummed about the lack of dinosaur entertainment!

This train was super cool!! I thought it was just a normal train ride but they had performances. The plot was there was a deputy who came in and discussed keeping our valuables safe from train robbers. A few other people came in and made it super fun!! The train was really cool and we even had a woman who took pictures and printed them out for us. It was so fun and I would definitely encourage it!! We went to the stockyards but we only had about 2 hours to look around and eat food. There isnt a lot of time so just be warned.

I really want to give this attraction and train ride five stars. However, my wife and I paid for the Ambassador class experience which would have been absolutely wonderful. Except, the train car used for the Ambassador class tickets whats placed directly behind the lead engine in the consist. Yes directly behind the very noisy diesel engine making it nearly impossible to speak to someone in the car when the engine was under heavy load. Additionally there were multiple times when the excessively loud train horn was blown for 20 or 30 seconds perhaps sometimes more at a time! Other than the annoying sound sitting directly behind the lead engine, the trip was very comfortable and the staff was exceedingly accommodating especially since I had a rather unwieldy upright Mobility Walker to contend with. I would go again but I would avoid any cars attached to the lead engine like the plague!

The ride includes: a complimentary pour, 6 2oz pours of dry white/red wine, charcuterie box and a cheesecake and brownie for dessert. You can t beat this for $75! Make sure to be at the station by 7:05p because they do board/takeoff on time! During our ride the jazz band played a set but also took request, sang happy birthday and made us feel right at home! In my opinion this experience should be shared with a lover for a more intimate experience! Two hours wasn t enough lol. I wanted to enjoy this experience longer! If you like history or you have kids, you will love the train. You are transported back to 1890, the train employees are all dressed like the old west and during the ride they play out a hijacking, with a bad guy. The sherif and the train lady. Kids love it. The locomotives that took us on our journey were built in 1967 and the first class car we sat in 1925, although modified with air conditioning, and a small bathroom. Its pretty cool looking at window shades that are 99 years old.

Also, be aware there are delays due to other trains coming and going. Delay times vary and listen to each announcement. The seats are quite uncomfortable and space is quite small. Overall a good time. Staff is great. Book early by buying tickets online. It can sell out quickly especially on weekends or during spring break.

The place is very beautiful due to its age. If you want to travel on the train to Stockyards you should know that it can stop for several minutes because it shares the tracks with others, the view is more of urbanized areas and factories, not of beautiful landscapes. Arriving at Stockyards you have around hrs to visit there, you board again and return at night to Grapevine. It is an all-day ride that is better without children because they get bored when the train is stopped for a long time.

We came for the North Pole Express. It was cute and the whole journey was fun but it was very lackluster. Ill start by saying the staff and everybody was nice. Checking in and getting on the train was quite simple. The actual North Pole experience was very meh. The trip was about 45 minutes but they literally drove you straightforward and then they reverse the train and went back. They couldnt figure out a route to actually take you on a trip. They literally stopped the train and then reverse it. All while youre looking out the window and can see construction and not a very good looking view. The performers and people with inside the actual cabin was really fun. But Im also biased on another one because we recently went to the polar Express in Oklahoma City and that one was miles above this one. I would probably give this a 2.5 star but thats not possible. Another thing I would do is when you got off the train and you had to get out you have to go between Christmas trees and its like a maze. People are stopping taking photos no ones actually guiding people and making them continue moving. It backs everybody up and lets not forget that theres people who have allergies to Christmas trees. So we were miserable because of those Christmas trees. Whoever did that really screwed the pooch.

We experienced the magic of the Grapevine Polar Express ride last year and again today. I am so sad to say that several fun things were left out this year. No Mrs. Claus, no going to the tent after getting off the train to see a short skit, we sang only 3 carols/songs instead of all of the ones on the printed list. Santa s helper in charge of entertaining us was very good. However, her mic kept going off and sitting toward the back we did not understand much of what she was saying. Last year, there was never a dull moment on the train. We were entertained from start to finish. But today were there several lulls in the ride when nothing was going on. Our coach was not even decorated as much as it was last year. Last year, there was no doubt that the $40 we spent on each ticket was well worth every penny. Sorry to say I do not feel the same about today s trip.

The train was OK. Its slow, which is also OK, we knew that since we bought the tickets. What really bothered us was the several times the train stopped on the way for 10-15 min because other trains were using the rails, something that happened like 2-3 times on the way to Stock Yards and the same on the way back. They should add more entertainment on board to keep passengers busy during the long and interrupted trip.

The kids had a great time being Halloween.. I would also recommend it as a casual date. They do have restaurants after you abort the train .. The train is amazingly smooth.

We visited for A Day out with Thomas the Train. It was cool outside so everyone was bundled up but the train car was warm. I took off all my layers and my 2 kids and we were still warm (we were sat on the side with the sun). Half way through the ride, a man came and turned on the air. The ride became much more pleasant after that!

What an amazing trip. From start to finish my family and I had so much fun. The person that made the trip even more amazing was our attendant Iain. Iain was extremely knowledgeable and was kind and courteous. What an awesome young man. Thank you for making this such an amazing trip for our first time ever on a train (4 out of 6 of us)

Nothing more than a tourist trap. You do not go any further than a mile out of the stock yards, past a flea market, through an industrial estate and then back again. Ironic that they act out a Train robbery on board, certainly felt like youd been robbed. Then they tried to charge $15 for an awful, over exposed printed photograph of your group. Just avoid it, spend your money in the shops or elsewhere.

I do not recommend it at all, do not waste your time and money, the train practically does not take you anywhere, what you are going to look at is the industrial zone Dont give away your money
