This restaurant is officially my boyfriend s favorite which is a high standard for him as he s a big foodie who likes to cook. From the cheese plate to the scotch flight to the steak and especially the apple galette, all of the menu items we tried were AMAZING! It s a good thing we don t live locally or we might end up weekly customers, hahaha. Mac s was definitely a highlight of our vacation, not only in food but also its staff. I was a little concerned when we entered due to the reception from the hostess stand but Joshua H, our server, blew that concern out of the water. He was very personable and attentive, which was impressive considering he was also tending bar. He also answered my questions regarding the menu very well!

We had a great visit for restaurant week. The portions were fantastic and everything was delicious. It was one of the best restaurant week experiences weve ever had with a great menu. The only complaint we had was with drink service from the bar which was very slow. They looked understaffed and did have a Now Hiring sign. We will be back to try out more of the menu in the future! Thanks for a great first visit!

We came in for tasting week. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff was impeccable. We had hibiscus Martinis that were amazing great taste and not losing the light delicate taste. We got the prime rib that was tender enough to cut with a fork cooked perfectly rare. Summer salad perfectly dressed and I got the apple tart for my finish. My date had exactly the same dish but end with key lime pie again it was phenomenal. The meal drink and service was amazing as they had a full house. The only downfall was it was loud and casual conversation was hard to have.

This place came highly recommended by a friend and after reading reviews, our party of 9 was excited to try it. Apparently 2pm on a Tuesday is a challenging time to get great service at an upscale dining establishment. Our server/bar tender was defining put out by our table. She seemed frustrated at each request and definitely left something to be desired. The food was fresh and full of flavor. Highly recommend the crab cake appetizer and the calamari. The apple galette dessert was the hit of our meal along with the salad and bread. Im willing to give another try hoping for a better server. Great ambiance and atmosphere!!

Macs on Main is overpriced and the staff has no personality. They made my Old Fashioned on the rocks instead of the traditinal solid ice cube. I should of known then they are clueless. We could not tell if the waitress was dead or alive. She had no idea what was on the menu and no desire to suggest anything as this was our first experience.

Mother s Day lunch. Picked an invisible spot outside Dallas for a great experience. So much rain on Mother s Day but didn t drown the touches Mac s made happen. Everything was less than average- salad was ends of pieces and salmon was rare- clam chowder was more like a thin potato soup- they only had one Chardonnay- they were out of the other- and one of my biggest pet peeves- serving food without utensils. Our server Joshua never checked on us after serving me coffee and our food came. Just a quick how is it, then he was gone, until it was time for the check. I got up and refilled my coffee myself, my wife, refilled her ice water herself, remembering we did this last year we were here as well. Had Sunday brunch, eggs Benedict were good and made to order, potatoes were cold, same as I remember from about a year ago. We wanted to give it another try, as it s a cozy brunch place, but management clearly doesn t check on how things are really going. Won t be coming back.

Came in for my Birthday dinner. 12oz Prime Rib was mouth watering goodness!! The other 3 in our party also had zero complaints!! Cant recall the servers name, however she was very pleasant!! My only complaint was the lighting. Trying to read the menu was quite difficult, especially to the elders that were in our party. We had to use our cell phone flashlight to see the menu. I also would like to add that my mother and I could have stayed for just one more piece of key-lime pie as it put a close to our dinner!! YUMMY!! I highly recommend this place, as we will return in the future!! Thanks for a great 50th Birthday Dinner!!

Great restaurant for a reasonably priced steak or seafood dinner. I have stopped here twice now in 2 years on short stays, and both times the food was excellent and had service to match. I recommend the prime rib as well as the ribeye. The 12oz ribeye is bone out, so you actually get 12oz of meat.

You know I thought hard and long about posting this one! We visited this spot based on the 4.9 star review. Dropped in for a good steak craving. (You know how you crave something and you re not satisfied until you get what you re craving!). This was the case, it was more about the STEAK than the dinner. Sidney, the server was great! Dinner started off right with a few cocktails, appetizers then the main dish came. At first, the steak looked wonderful. Took a few cuts and immediately cut into a hard fatty section, disregarded it not thinking much of it. Continued to cut into the steak and hit another thick piece of fat! But this time I decided to cut the fat out of the steak and it was about a 1/3 if the steak at that point. After that we started cutting a few more pieces and eating them they were engrained with tough fat! We cut a few more pieces and the exact same thing, fatty meat (mostly fat!) Now this have become unenjoyable and we started to get disappointment in the cut of meat. We decided to transfer all the cut meat that we had not ate onto a different plate and notify Sidney our waitress. She immediately apologized and took the plate and said she will take it to the manager. The manager came to the table and said I apologize, but this is the normal cut of our steaks and I m sorry that we won t be able to make any adjustments. We stated we don t want any adjustments. We want a new steak. At that point, he said he wasn t able to get us a new steak but he could make an adjustment on our bill. We look confused. We stated if the steak is bad and we have sides that we haven t eaten you can t give us a new steak? He stated no I m just the assistant manager that s all I can do for you I asked for the manager, but he said the manager was not there that night and I said I would be sure to get in touch with your manager and you will be getting a bad review since there s nothing that you can do to accommodate us for the fatty steak. The assistant manager excuse was if we would have told him the first time we cut into the steak he would ve been able to give us a replacement. Lesson: if you go to this place complain before you eat any of the food! They did remove the appetizer and one of the sides off of our bill, but we still walked away unsatisfied and dissatisfied with the way management runs the operation. I called in and spoke to Henry the manager. It took him two weeks to follow up with me to tell me that he found our bill and they did make an adjustment on the appetizer and sides.

We made reservations for dinner for this last Friday night. We were early so we decided to wait to have a drink at the bar the vibes were weird and judgmental. We did not feel welcome and felt almost as if we were out of place and underdressed. We both wore our jackets inside since it s been below freezing these last few days and I guess the dress code is assumed to be fancier? The whole ambience is a Cheesecake Factory knock off trying too hard. We ended up finishing our drinks and leaving before we even sat down to a table. I m sure the food is great but we felt judged and uncomfortable the whole time. I guess we weren t fancy enough to be there lol

Food was good, above average. Service was good; however, my husband and I were still finishing up with our food and drink around 9:30 pm when the staff started cleaning and sweeping around our table: almost under our feet. (Friday night) We arrived around 8:00 or 8:10 pm so we did not stay an extra long time and there were about 3 other couples at other tables throughout the restaurant. Over all the experience was great until the last 20 minutes when it was clear that the staff wanted everyone to leave.

We met up with some family and friends a few weeks ago at this restaurant. I had never heard of it, but it came highly recommended. The service and the drinks were delicious and made with fresh ingredients. I ordered the ribeye prepared medium rare and it came out, perfect I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a top notch steak restaurant, or just a cool place to meet with friends for drinks. Parking: Grapevine is a very popular destination for restaurants and nightlife. There are plenty of paid parking lots nearby as well as free parking lots. You just may need to walk to a three blocks to your destination. Definitely worth the walk though.

This was in November and was a last minute booking on a Saturday. We were seated at the back which is the quieter part of the restaurant. Server was attentive but not intrusive. And out drinks were regularly topped up without asking. So service was top notch for us. Bread (sourdough) was complementary and fresh. It was a good start. We went with the recommendation for the starter of crab cakes. The breading on the crab cake was really lightly breaded and crab filling was fresh. Crab cakes in other restaurants can be mixed especially if they are not using fresh crab and you can taste the fishiness. Macs version is fresh so it is a wonderful starter. Our mains were the pork chops with mash (though we added vegetables) and the special of Grouper (you had a choice of blackened or grilled) with Crawfish Etouffee over rice. The meats were cooked perfectly. The pork chops were tender and seasoned well. The steamed vegetables still had a bite and not overcooked which is the way we liked it. And the mash was creamy. The presentation on the grouper has much to be desired but was tasty. I wasnt too keen on their rice (the server said it was Jasmine but I dont believe this was the case or they didnt cook it well). It was the first time I had etouffee and unfortunately it is not my cup of tea. Overall we liked our experience in the restaurant. They also have a pop up menu from time to time (called The Hidden). And they participated in this years restaurant week (we had the lamb chops and they were excellent).

Been coming here for years. Have introduced many to this place . Today we had a gals lunch. None had been . We share a rare autoimmune w some on specific diets . I ordered the pork chop which comes w potatoes only . Cant eat potatoes so asked to sub a veg and I purchased an addl. Pork chop was super small, thin and overcooked . Spinach side was heavily salted . I was charge for both sides. One changed her French fries to wedges and got charged as an extra . Manager came over. Short and abrupt . I NEVER give bad reviews but had to let others know apparently this place has a strict dress code. According to their yelp page they have posted casual attire But when we came in for a birthday lunch at 2:30 in the afternoon my husband and I both had tank tops on because it was 96 degrees outside. I was wearing a skirt and my husband had on nice shorts. The man at the front was extremely rude and asked my husband if he had another shirt. He acted disgusted by our appearance. No one in our group was sloppy. The man could have explained politely that they have a dress code but he was rude so we walked out. Unfortunately you don t get a second chance to make a first impression and our first impression of Mac s was not a good one. Very high society, and snobby. No thanks!

Went here for a business meeting. I had the grilled shrimp. A couple of guests had shrimp salad and the cobb and I heard both were excellent. Patrons were all on the older side for some reason. Which shouldnt matter unless youre going on a date and looking for a romantic, lively environment. You can tell this place has its regulars so that should speak to the restaurants consistancy.

Food was Great !!!... Waitress profiled us So I didnt tip. We do Tip Genoursly but not with her. You need to treat everyone equally. Dont assume, She lost a very large tip. This is what happens when you dont stay in school.

This was a delicious meal, our server was professional and nice, the atmosphere was neat, high quality and over all a great experience. The prime rib was delicious, with the side of basil mashed potatoes. So good!

If you enjoy horrible service and overpriced food with just a dash of smugness thrown in for good measure, Macs is the place for you. There seems to be a common thread here. The more recent the review the worst the review. I ve been a customer for a couple of decades. While never as good as the price, we kinda liked it but have notice it has been going down hill for quite some time. Especially since they moved to grapevine. If you used to go to the other locations and want the same experience here, save your money. Our most recent visit was probably the worst experience I ve ever had at a restaurant. We had 7p reservations and got there right at 7. The restaurant was more than half empty. We walked in and told the young man we had a 7 o clock. He said very very smugly, with great joy, that we were late and our reservation were canceled. I said no we aren t late. He s said we were an hour late and that our reservation was for 6. No use arguing with a teenager that s clearly never been taught any manners or anything about customer service. At this point he was almost giddy that he was able to be the bearer of bad news and said follow me and I ll put you somewhere but not the booth that was requested on the reservation. I couldn t believe this kids attitude or was talking to me this way so I asked for the manager. Supposedly the owner came out and all she did was defend the kids action that he didn t know any better because he was a kid. She seemed to not care how long we had been coming there nor disappointed we were leaving which we thought would be the right move at this point. We left and will not be back again.

This was a blind first date for me and I cant say enough about the location, staff and food! I got there way early and enjoyed the lounge sipping on a glass of wine. The foods we ordered did not disappoint. I highly recommend eating the freshly made bread, scallops appetizer and burrata dish. The prime rib was cooked to perfection. The dessert coffee options sounded very tempting, but they didnt have a decaf option. Next time maybe they will have that and I might leave enough room for the flourless chocolate cake that looked scrumptious!

Just a random pick since we are not that familiar with the area but we are so happy we found it! Excellent service, lovely atmosphere and the food was absolutely delicious. My soon to be dil had the shrimp etouffee and I had the hangar steak with chimmichurri sauce and French fries. We also split the burrata salad. We ate every bite! Thank you Macs we ll be back!!

We came for Grapevines restaurant week (month) and ordered the Fillet Oscar and Sea Bass, both were cooked to perfection!! Key lime pie and apple pie pastry for dessert also knocked it out of the park!! Will be back!

After a long couple of days at work, I decided to treat myself to a steak dinner, and I was extremely disappointed. I have never been to this establishment, so I thought I should definitely try it since they had 4 1/2 stars. I was sadly disappointed on everything, except for the service, which is usually the opposite. Savannah was a sweet and kind bartender, and was very attentive. The first wine I ordered, tasted and smelled like vinegar. I was disgusted and told the bartender to let the manager know they were serving sour wine. The manager never came to acknowledge me or tell me that they apologize for the inconvenience. Following that, I ordered a 22oz. bone in prime rib and they served me what looked to be a 12 ounce prime rib. I worked at a steakhouse for over 10 years during my schooling, and needless to say I know the temperatures and sizes of steak like the back of my hand. I had to send my food back to get it re-made. Finally, the icing on the cake was the asparagus. I had to eat some vegetables because I was eating such a heavy steak, but these asparagus tasted despicable. I was tired of complaining, so I just force-fed myself, unfortunately they were the worst asparagus I ve ever had to date. I will not be back and I do not recommend Macs on Main. Grapevine has such a cool vibe but the restaurants are really lacking. And this one is no different. Spend your money elsewhere!

Make a reservation to get in quickly. The waitstaff are all exceptional and friendly. Everything is great from the budget to the rainbow trout! Parking: Free parking behind the building of you cant park on the street out front. They have a ton of designated retail parking.

The kitchen is CLOSED from 3pm-4pm but you can still order drinks or dessert . The calamari tasted like fried rubber tires. The pecan crusted trout looked like it had been hammered flat like a crepe, had a very generic taste and was served with quinoa brown rice. The quinoa brown rice was extremely bland and was like eating small pebbles of styrofoam. My husband added 3 shrimp ($5.98) to his meal. Those were 3 small plain shrimp placed in a condiment container next to his plate. I had the blackened Roughy with Etouffee served with white rice. This was not at all impressive. The etouffee looked like brown gravy from a can with small chunks of chewy crawfish, onions and chives. The restaurant gives moderate upscale vibes when you walk through the door. I think they even refuse patrons wearing athletic gear. BUT the server we had was more of a well spoken Waffle House waitress with manners. It was obvious she didn t appreciate that we sent the calamari back and she was annoyed when I commented on the food we ordered. I wasn t rude or disrespectful. I politely mentioned that I had higher expectations. My husband ordered a drink on the rocks. It was $9.50 + $9.50 liquor tax = $19! Bottom line is Mac s on Main can be described as mediocre at best. We will not be returning.

Started out almost helping the manager throw out a guy who was mad about them serving bud light. Our poor server was just not it, I felt for him but also wanted one thing to come out within a normal amount of time. The food was mediocre at best and if youve been theyre not cheap. Although the people there were great, it was a severe disappointment overall.

We were a group of 8 visiting the area for a conference. We arrived at the near empty restaurant and was asked by the host if we had a reservation and we said no, didnt know that we would need one. He stated that he would check and see if he would be able to accommodate our group. He returned a few minutes later and informed us that they were preparing our table. We were there a little over an hour and the place never filled up with customers. The overall dining experience was good and so was our waitress, Candy. Dont order the Mac Wings! They are flavorless and the so-called blue cheese dressing that accompanied it had no taste at all. Reminded me of unsalted butter, with no taste. One could tell that the chicken was just dropped in grease without any seasoning or marinade preparation. Asked for ranch dressing, and the waitress stated that they didnt carry any other dressing, besides the Italian dressing that comes mixed in the salad. My colleague highly recommends their chicken fried steak. Vegetarian options: Vegetable dishes available. Parking: There is very limited parking on the street and a lot that is shared by other merchants and an apartment complex in the back area of the restaurant.
