Honestly feel like things have gone downhill here. Had a reservation at 2pm and they didnt sit my family until 2:20,then they put us directly next to another loud table and when we requested if we could be a row down they did not accommodate even though the restaurant was roughly 1/4th occupied. Guacamole was $9 for a single serving. The art and color has left this place and the new design is just bland. This is pretty sad considering this use to be one of my favorite spots, anybody remember the chocolate pinata?

Locals should be checking this place out more often. The quality is back to exceptional in my opinion. The chips salsa and queso have always been excellent. A really good HH with a lot of great food and drink choices. If you can, I recommend dining at the bar. Maria is one of the best in town, and that s saying a lot.

For some reason this specific location in grapevine is always terrible when it comes to the service and food. The servers don t know anything and take forever just to even get drinks to your table. Our servers finger slipped into our salsa bowl as he was placing it on our table and he pretended like it didn t happen. He leaned over the table to pick up the menus and ended up leaning in to close to our salsa bowls and his clothes touched everything and he didn t even realize it and just walked away with his clothes covered in salsa . The servers here are completely self unaware and clueless. This location was out of soda and had no soda products available so I had to order strawberry lemonade and it tasted watered down and awful. The manager seems clueless every time just standing around chatting with his employees. So many employees here just always standing around and talking which makes sense why drinks taste flat and watered down and food is cold by the time it gets to your table. The food portions have become smaller and prices have risen but the quality of taste of the food is always below average and definitely not worth the price you spend for even just 2 people for dinner. The Arlington location is way better and more efficient. The servers are more enthusiastic and get everything out to you fast and the taste of the food is so much better and makes the price worth it. I keep giving the grapevine location more chances because it s closer to me but this time was definitely the last.

Uncle Julio s in Grapevine, TX is like a magical land where fajitas and tacos reign supreme. The chicken fajitas are so perfectly grilled, you d think they were auditioning for a cooking show. The beef tacos are so juicy, they could double as a water park attraction. And the cheese enchiladas? They re so cheesy, even a mouse would say, Whoa, that s a bit much. If you leave Uncle Julio s without a smile and a full belly, you might need to check if you re secretly a food critic.

I ordered take out this time. The food was ready when I went to pick it up. The food is always delicious, especially the chips, salsa, queso, and fajitas. What really impressed me was the customer service! The manager was absolutely the best manager I ve ever had any dealings with. He was very personable and went above and beyond.

I ve always loved Uncle Julio s, but this experience was so bad, that I doubt that I ll go back. I am absolutely shocked at how outrageous the prices have become! For a scoop of guacamole, is now $9.50! Avocados are $.88 at the grocery store. I was also charged $12.50 for a large queso which was tiny!! My order was also wrong. I asked for refried beans, got charro. I asked for corn tortillas, got flour. So, for 1 order of chicken fajitas and a large queso, with no drinks and not the correct order, was $45!!! This is insane. Go to Anamia s or MiCocina for better food, and you get more for your money. Looking at the pictures, would you pay $45 for this?

Second time here, and both times my drinks were about an inch or more from the rim. For $13 for a margarita in a low ball glass slightly more than half full, not cool. Food is delicious but expected to leave hungry. Everyone at the table thought we were getting lunch portions on accident, but nope youre lucky to get 2 fajitas worth of meat. $54 for a snack sized portion of food with 2 pathetic margaritas. Not worth the hassle. Goto La Hacienda or Rio Mambo instead.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at uncle Julio s restaurant , and it was an amazing experience! From the moment I walked in, the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a fantastic meal. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure that every detail was taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious. I started with the guacamole, which was fresh and flavorful, perfectly paired with crispy tortilla chips. For the main course, I had the carne asada tacos, and they were phenomenal. The meat was tender and seasoned to perfection, and the toppings were fresh and added the perfect balance of flavors. The homemade salsa was a delightful addition, adding just the right amount of spice. To top it all off, I couldnt resist trying the churros for dessert. This review is for SCOTT, the manager!!!! THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST UNCLE JULIO S I HAVE EVER ATTENDED, and I have eaten at many!!! I had to take time out of my dinner to write this review, because I am so impressed!! First off, I want to say, when you walk into a restaurant for a second time and the Manager remembers you from the night before, it shows from the TOP how this Restaurant is managed! Scott, the Manager, runs an amazing restaurant, staff, kitchen, bar, ect I had skirt steak fajitas the first night and the carne asada steak (AMAZING!) the second night! Also, we went during happy hour and ordered their amazing queso blanco and house guacamole! So so so so so good! And lastly, our server, Josh, was absolutely on point and we never had to ask for anything! One last thing, if you have never been you must get the chocolate piñata; it is their signature dessert!

Excellent meal. We shared 2 different fajita orders - one skirt steak & chicken, and one grilled veggie. Rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, cheese... I think these were some of the best fajitas Ive ever eaten, honestly. The flavors were so delicious. And, the manager came by to check on our table, thanked us for choosing their restaurant out of all the places to choose from - thought this was a nice touch!

I came here with some family and friends on a Monday. As someone who works in food service, I was impressed with the attention to detail and helpful attitude of the staff. I couldn t even tell it was a Monday. All staff seemed cheerful with a professional sense of urgency and efficiency of action. Management was top-notch. Our server, Darion (who, funny enough, resembles actress Krysten Ritter), was both funny and polite. She is great with kids (an 11 year old family member had a birthday), making the experience fun for everyone! Uncle Julio s Tex-Mex Restaurant is delicious! I had the fajitas, and I loved how the meat was seasoned to perfection and tender. It s often hit or miss with steak and shrimp, but this place hit it out of the park. I chose this restaurant to experience the famous chocolate bar, but I was so full from the meal that I couldn t even try it. A few things to note: the parking is phenomenal, which is a plus. However, be prepared for a bit of a wait, especially on Saturday nights or weekends. It s important that your entire party arrives together and that you don t come starving. We waited over 45 minutes, likely because other groups were celebrating and enjoying their time. Once seated, we appreciated the team s effort to let us relax, talk, and laugh without feeling rushed. Came in at lunch and got seated right away. Ruben, our server was friendly and attentive. Didn t ask how everything was when you had a mouthful of food, haha. Chips and salsa were good, a little salty on some chips, but it happens. Ordered the rice bowls, steak and chicken. That is where it kinda went downhill. Not much flavor in either. The steak had no fajita steak taste I was expecting. Chicken was bland and didn t taste very good. Cilantro rice also lacked flavor, looked like regular rice with some cilantro leaves added. Great service and atmosphere, location also is easy to get in and out of, just this food was not as expected.

My wife and I come to this restaurant and special occasions. Normally when we come we order the fajitas for two. On Wednesday June 12 we did a normal fajitas for two and only got one rice and beans plate which was enough for one person not two people two tortillas we had to order more not enough guacamole sour cream and cheese for one person was not the two person amount. When we were close to finishing her meal the server came and started taking plates and food off the table without asking if it was okay to remove the places it still have food on it that we were still eating on. We were still charged full price for 2 people. For this we will not be coming back to Uncle Julios.

How do I love thee, Sayda & Michael, let me count the ways .... Went back to the grapevine location yesterday for lunch, a coworker and I. It was still a beautiful experience! The food was delicious. I would recommend the combination fajitas, adding the guadalajara shrimp at least three. Then get the honey chipotle, guava sauce thingy meducci... Theyll know what you mean. The service is excellent!!!! If you have time drive by for a visit, expect to spend about $35 bucks for your lunch. Worth every stinkin penny. Drop by and give them a visit. I promise you will NOT be disappointed.

Totally enjoyed trying this restaurant out. It was a busy Mother s Day afternoon and the staff was on their A-game. We were seated immediately and the young lady who served us was awesome. She was friendly and efficient. She got our orders and constantly checked in to see if we were doing fine and if we needed anything else. The manager met with all the guests to ensure great service. The drinks menu has a good selection of margaritas, beer and wine options. Watermelon margarita was the drink the month. Chips are served with 2 kinds of salsa - the smokey bbq salsa was different & unique. Enchiladas and tacos are what we ordered and the food tasted great. The ice cream ball for dessert was amazing - definitely shareable. Ambiance of the restaurant was upscale and spacious. Lots of parking available. Would recommend making a reservation for evenings and special occasions. Pricing : Moderate high Will I return? : For sure!

2024 Update: Its been some time since we were last here (moved out of town). Came to shop and stopped in for lunch. Looks like everything was redone, beautiful exterior and interior. Kayla (manager) was so kind and informative when she sat us at our table. She gave a great recommendation to try the watermelon margarita (so tasty! - I also recommend it). And our server, Josh, was AMAZING! - so attentive and friendly. Probably the best service weve ever had anywhere. We really enjoyed our lunch today. Do you enjoy the idea of watching your kid beat a chocolate pinata at dinner time? Then yes, you need to check this place out. Quite the ambiance, Uncle Julios does not disappoint. Staff is friendly and attentive. I never ran out of water or chips / salsa. Meals were excellent. No issues devouring the enchiladas. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.

This is one of the best restaurants for Mexican food. This was my first time here at this restaurant. I would totally come back again after eating their food. I couldnt stop eating their chip and salsa. It was so crispy and provided great salsas. The chip was unlimited. As the bowl was gone, they had already filled the bowl with new chips. I got the classic TacoSalad. It was so good, the flavor was so rich and savory from sausce. Parking: There are ton of space or spots.

Our server Darian was fantastic! She took care of all 8 of us with careful anticipation of our needs in a timely manner. She was sweet and personable, and made us feel so comfortable to enjoy our meal. The hostesses were also very helpful and accommodating. Our head count changed a bit and I asked to be seated on the patio last minute and they made it happen in a snap. Great experience!

The service at this location was super, Delmy was prompt with everything and super nice. After our last experience at the camp Bowie location we decided to give this location a try. This location and service surpassed our expectations. I will definitely be back after this experience. Management was on top of things as well.

USED to visit here frequently until my visit tonight when I was advised they NO LONGER serve Diet Coke, they only serve Coke Zero - WTH, Coke Zero is NOT Diet Coke! Coke Zero is COKE with zero sugar Uncle Julios ... not Diet Coke! And an avid Diet Coke drinker knows how important this cool refreshing beverage is for a good Mexican meal - so going to have to take all of my future Mexican outings down the road to a real restaurant the knows the difference between Diet Coke and Coke Zero.

Poorly handled reservation ruined the event. Despite having a confirmed reservation for our party of 8 upon check-in 15 minutes prior to our appointed time, the restaurant had no knowledge of the reservation. We ended up waiting nearly 30 minutes only to be stuffed in the far back corner of the bar area in less than comfortable seating for half of the party vs the dining room we had reserved. We were adjacent to the door for to go orders and everyone was very cold for the duration of the meal. The server did their best and was very friendly but we were effectively out of site and out of mind throughout the night. It took an unusually long time to get, appetizers and main dishes and most were only marginally warm.

My family had a lovely dinner here! The Carne asada was perfect but my margarita was even better! Tim makes the absolute best Ive ever had! The only thing was, it was freezing inside which made it hard on our little one to enjoy his meal. The service was wonderful!

First time to any of the Uncle Julio s locations. We sat on the patio that was nicely laid out so tables weren t right on top of each other. The service was amazing the chips and salsa never went empty nor did our glasses. All of our food was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Server had a great personality and was very attentive to us and she deserves more than the 5 stars.

The food is way overpriced for the taste. The portion size is extremely small. The fajitas for one there were literally six small slices of meat on the plate. We told her we were going to split it and she never mentioned to us that it might be a little small for two of us. Not to mention at a $23 price tag. It was definitely not a good value for the money. The service was neglectful at best. I drink water with my meal and I was never offered a full-size glass with ice. The chips she brought out were always crumbs. She only checked on us a couple of times my husband ordered unsweet tea, and then his tea was super sweet from the raspberry flavoring which she didn t bother to explain. I tried to ask her a few times for things, and she would talk over me. She was not willing to listen at all. The atmosphere was extremely loud. They had the music so we couldn t hear ourselves talk.

This place has had MAJOR changes and all for the better. Management has changed top down and it is clear to see from the customer experience, to the food, to the attention to detail. First time coming back here in over a year, and my wife and I were impressed. We will be coming back again. Shoutout to bartender Tim, he was excellent.
