Ive lived here 5 years and avoided this place just because it looks like just a bar. Wrong! Best pizza in Georgetown! Yes! Not 600. Not Frankies. I could not believe it when I tried it. Not only is the pizza delicious, you can actually fold it like its supposed to be. 100% recommend the pizza.

Interesting building with a good vibe but the band on Thursday and Friday are seriously too loud. People were walking out. Asked server to suggest they lower volume but no way. Food is ok. Why the cook (clearly not a chef) added balsamic vinaigrette to a curry chicken is ballsy or incompetence. Anyway didnt work for me.

Someone needs to explain to Olivia that if someone says Im just having one beer, she doesnt need to keep asking do you want the tab open or closed? She asked 4 times. And I kept saying Im just having one beer. The last time, I had to spell it out: Im going to have one beer, Im going to pay, then Im going to leave. Im sure she had the right intentions, but seriously... if I tell you Im just having the one beer, whats the point of even asking if I want to keep the tab open? I just moved here & this was my first impression of this place. Im sure Ill be back eventually, but definitely not anytime soon. Pizza kitchen smells great. Update: my 2nd time here and I have no idea what I just tipped my bartender for. I ordered a canned beer for my girlfriend and the bartender had no idea what I was talking about. I repeated myself & she told me to just grab it. We then sat down & waited... the bartender never gave me or brought me the beer I had ordered for myself. Eventually, my girlfriend went & grabbed it from the cooler. She could have grabbed as many of whatever she wanted. The bartender literally provided ZERO service besides ringing up our order. There was nothing Korean about our Korean tacos. Stars just went from 2 to 1

Saturday night at 9:20, we were one of 2 couples eating. The service was less than enthusiastic and we had to hunt down help. The kitchen and servers were starting to party and get their free beer and food. The band playing kept taking free beer breaks and the band member with a referee shirt on came over to our table (1 of 2 occupied, amongst 20) and burps loudly behind my wife! We ordered 2 tap beers that were both flat and paid $17 but got even more overcharged with the $22 Medium (size of a small+ pizza). The Pizza tasted good but $22 is too much for a medium Pizza especially because we watched the band and 5 staff eat for free! So after $39, my wife getting belched at by a band member, observing less than enthusiastic staff that showed the most work when grabbing their free drinks and food, we left. Please make customers feel appreciated, especially new potential long term customers.

I was very disappointed in this place. We arrived at 4:45 pm on a Friday evening & the place was empty except for three other patrons. No hostess or servers in sight. No greeting, no menu, no sign, telling us to seat ourselves. We sat at the bar. Bartender stood there, staring at us, as we settled in. Didnt greet us, ask if wed like a drink or a menu. After a few minutes, I got up & got menus for us. It went downhill from there! This place bills itself as a brewpub but beer selection was sad. And did I mention WARM? Both of us had a draft of different local craft & it was barely lukewarm. Bartender asked if wed like to run a tab & I told him we were going to order dinner. He took our food order, added the two beers, & cashed us out immediately, sliding the slip & a pen across the bar to me! If wed wanted a 2nd beer or dessert, we were out of luck; it would be another, separate charge on my credit card. Food came out quick but was just average. Bartender never uttered another word to us the entire time. Guess the real estate on the square in Georgetown is supposed to be the big draw because this restaurant sure isnt. We wont be back

I love this place. Im from the northeast and finding good pizza that reminds me of what I grew up with is hard to find here, but Roots has satisfied my pizza cravings! Even better than 600 degrees. Which was our old go to. Sometimes they have bands or singers there that are always so talented. The pizzas are cooked up pretty quickly when we dine in too! Parking: It is street parking on the square so it can get frustrating to find a spot.

Update: After trying pizza at a pizza joint down the street, I can fairly say that Roots has the best pizza around and that includes the surrounding area of Roundrock and Austin. The dough, sauce, and cooked consistency is 5 stars! Take a look at the pic of the pie, the dough looks hand crafted. Compared to the pies down the street, youll see that theirs appear too uniform, almost premade in appearance...they may not be but they almost look too perfect and the results speak for themselves. The place down the street is great for small gatherings as a purpose built pizza shop with average pizza and lots of beer on tap. Roots is great for groups small and large as a music venue with fantastic pizza and beer on tap. The Pizza title goes to Roots! Original Review: Was running a Saturday errand to the Ace Hardware store in Georgetown because they were the only location that had what I was looking for, so, made a Sunday Drive of it and had a pie and some pints at Roots, downtown Georgetown. Great location, right across from the courthouse downtown on 8th Street. Small local music venue with great pizzas. Service was a miss but the venue was cool. Loved the Big Kahuna (if you can tolerate pineapple on your pizza). Everything was pricey as I read from other reviewers. Beer on tap was overpriced at over $7 a pint. I guess Im spoiled at Brooklyn Heights at HH. Pizza was also pricey but we really enjoyed it. I bet its great with live music.

But this was a Sunday evening, before a Monday holiday, so it was quite and pretty empty. We sat down stairs and ordered spinach dip and pizza. I was surprised! It was delicious and the crust/breading was fluffy but crispy. My only complaint is that I asked for extra pizza sauce, it was served cold, and thats a 50/50 chance, so it wasnt a make or break thing.

Great place for a bite and conversation. After the live music starts, communication becomes harder, so time for visit for what you want.

Roots is a pretty nice place to meet up. Live music a lot of the time is a major plus! The guy that tries to do sound, doesn t. Seating leaves a touch to be desired. All in all roots is in the top two choices on the weirdo walk (Georgetown Square). Georgetown is really owned by people who just moved here so good luck finding a Taste of Texas here.

Food is good. Only issue which is a MAJOR one is that I signed my bill stating that my food was $55, tipped $11 for total of $66 and some change. Apparently this was not satisfactory to the service staff because when I looked at my account is was charged $74. One glass of sangria, grilled cheese, a Ruben, and Korean tacos with 2 fountain drinks.

Live music didnt happen as scheduled (guitar player was MIA!?)and bar ran out of my choice of wine after the 1st glass... But: that one glass was good, the bartender was very polite and apologetic, and the meal was delicious. Therefore I gave 4 stars

I ordered 2 chicken tacos. When I ordered it, the guy repeated back ok, chicken. They gave me 2 pork tacos. I Took 2 bites of one (it was dark upstairs so I couldn t see The meat at the bottom). The first bite I was like hmm this tastes bad, the second was to see if I could stomach it because I didn t want to waste food. It was gross- I realized it was pork - I don t eat pork, so I sent it back. They came back saying they could make me ONE chicken taco since I ate half of one incorrectly made taco. Are you kidding me? Even IF I ordered pork and decided I didn t like it, what restaurant comes back and says well I ll replace your meal with less than half of what you ate? Lol what? Also, incredibly loud for a Tuesday night. 2 stars because my boyfriend liked his.
