Trail was well maintained. Easy to moderate terrain. I saw people of all ages walking. Just need to watch your steps. To get to Crockett Garden Falls its about 6-7 mile hike round trip. Its a good long hike but totally worth it at the end when you see the waterfall. Id highly recommend hiking in the early morning hours due to the summer heat.

Worst hiking trail I have even seen, lots of rocks and it s not a regular rocks it s very sharp edges and formed in weird way, you have to pay 5 dollars, the fall is dry and there is nothing u can see other than the lake view, but it s not pleasant to walk there, you have to spend the time looking on the ground the whole time other wise you will trip on one of the rocks, been to many hiking trails different places but this one is the worst so far won t come back again for sure.

We have a toddler so we didn t do the whole thing. We hiked a little over a mile and we re able to make it to the lake and then came back. It was the perfect distance for hiking with a little kid. For the most part kid was able to walk on their own but there were some parts where it got really rocky and we had to carry them. Overall though it was very shaded and beautiful and our kid loved throwing rocks into the lake.

Lovely hiking trail of around 8 miles. You can find a falls at the end of the trail. Its easy to medium trail. You can do it as a family. You can see the beautiful George Town lake from the cliff, and you can get down and go to the lake water. Its not meant for swimming. A lot of people take their boats and jet ski to drive around the lake. They have well equipped boat ramps, camp grounds and picnic areas. Its a pet friendly trail, common to see a lot of pets walking with their owners. Restrooms are available next to the boat ramps.

What are the most beautiful (and slightly hidden) places within 15 minutes of Austin. If youve never been hiking on this trail it is as challenging as it is rewarding. And if you commit to making it to the falls which takes about an hour you wont regret it. Be sure and pack a lunch, plenty of fluids, and possibly a blanket. My 7 year old made it but it did push his limits.

The trail walk is good. The view is very scenic. Especially path along the river. It is a long trial it is a bit rocky in some places and we may need to climb up and down on some large rocks on the way. But good place for the hike with kids. We could not complete the entire trail. Remember to carry water and stay hydrated if going there on a hot day.

Its actually a nice trail but getting to it can be hampered by poor setup and park services. When arriving and stating you want to hike, youre told to turn around and park elsewhere. You then park outside the park and walk in along the precarious roads without sidewalks up and down hill with trucks towing boats barreling through. Once you get to the trailhead you might notice an abundance of empty parking spaces as we did because the park officials have no idea which hikers have left; you might see the issue here by now. Our family loves hiking in our parks and takes pride in donating to TPWD. But I cant recommend this trail without a full understanding of the flaws in design.

The San Gabriel River Trail, also known as the Goodwater Loop is a 28 mile long trail that snakes around Lake Georgetown. I havent yet completed the trail in its entirety but from the sections I have hiked, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. There are plenty of elevation changes, changes in vegetation, and many attractions along the way. One of my favorite spots is the Crocket Garden Falls. Whether youre hiking long distance or just out with the family, this is a great place to enjoy a beautiful day.

My wife and I hiked the trail on a beautiful Saturday morning. We did the portion to Crockett Falls. The trailhead is located within Cedar Breaks Park on Lake Georgetown. There is parking right at the trail head but it was already full so we parked just outside the gate in the parking spots along the road. At 9:30am there was plenty of parking here. We walked to the trailhead and started our hike. The trail is well maintained but is very rocky so I suggest wearing sturdy shoes or light hiking boots. I wore my Timberland boots and had no problems. The trail varies in elevation and terrain and is easy to moderate overall. There is ample shade along the way and benches to stop and take a rest. Along the way you will be rewarded with some nice views of Lake Georgetown. The hike to the falls is a bit over 2.5 miles, so take water to drink. At the falls we took a break to cool down in the refreshingly cold water of the falls. Be very careful around the falls as the ground is VERY slippery! We encountered several other groups of people during our trek, some heading to the falls and some continuing along the trail. The falls is worth the hike. After our break we headed back the way we came in but at a slower pace taking the time to enjoy the views of Lake Georgetown. Overall we did 5.5 miles in 2.5 hours TLDR: 5.5 miles to Crockett Falls and back along well maintained easy to moderate rocky trail with good views.

Loved it for extended hiking/backpacking near central texas. It has a wide variety of scenery with frequent vistas of the lake. It felt remote enough even though it is surrounded by development. Its not a true wilderness experience like you might find at Big Bend or other large parks in mountain ranges; there are a lot of day hikers out throughout the loop, but it didnt feel terribly crowded. The main loop in 26 mi with sufficient camping areas to take it as casually or aggressively as you like. We did it over 4 days, 3 nights and enjoyed the casual pace.

This trail is really fun and has some areas you need to climb a little bit. I do not feel it is good for all ages. For those hikers getting along in years, especially on a hot day, or for the really little guys this probably isnt the best trail. Once you set off from the trailhead from the parking lot its about 3 miles and there are a lot of rocks that contribute to uneven footing. Once you are on the trail there is no way off, you reach the waterfall and turn around to go back. There are no side trails to get you back to a road or lot and trails dont show on the map as some do. Be prepared for piggybacking little ones even if they are hikers and also for older hikers there are only 3 benches to sit on and in between there isnt anywhere to rest especially on a hot day. I love the trail but it really is primitive once youre stuck in it and I dont feel the other reviews accurately depict this. We were surprised!
