The doctor seemed knowledgeable but very rushed, which affected the overall experience. The handwritten prescription instructions were unclear, even for the pharmacist. When I called today to clarify, the nurse seemed uncertain and changed the instructions twice during our conversation. I requested a follow-up via email or text for clarity, but this was denied. After being put on hold, the nurse returned and changed the instructions yet again. I hope these are now correct. I have a follow-up appointment with Dr. Kia on Monday, October 7, and I hope the practice s overall service experience is much improved. I will update this review based on that visit.

I have been going to see Dr. Kia at Howsden Dermatology for several years. My internist had recommended him to check some areas on my scalp. Dr. Kia is excellent. He is thorough, professional and takes time to answer any questions you might have. The office staff is friendly and helpful. My husband is also a patient of Dr. Kia and we are both extremely happy with our experiences there.

This review is for the office and does not represent Dr Kia. I have been a patient of Dr Kevin F Kia for many years, and he is a very good doctor. However, I made an appointment for my daughter, and the office refused to check the benefits. They wont tell me if the doctor still accept my insurance and whats my visit cost. Based on other reviews, it seems like there is a need for more training for the office personnel. Unfortunately, we will be seeing another doctor.

Called to set up a new patient appointment and the lady answering the phones was so extremely rude and acted like she hated her job. She was whispering on the phone, I kindly said I m sorry can you repeat that I can t hear you and she got the biggest attitude. Won t be going here after all

Dr. Kia is fantastic!! Personable, friendly, professional. Highly recommend! The billing department is TERRIBLE. They call, shows up as potential spam . You try to call back, voicemail. NO CALL BACK. Then? You receive a bogus bill. IMPROVE YOUR COMMUNICATION. UPDATE: The billing department is still horrid. Calls come in from a spam number, and when you call back, it s a recorded message. What a shame a fantastic Doctor like Dr. Kia has incompetent people that work for him.

Patient of Dr. Kia, Ive seen others reviews and want to share my wholesome, positive experience. No problems to date; young woman with post-IUD breakouts addressed immediately. Prescribed two topical and one oral medication. Aggressive approach, from what I understand. Changed my mental health, after 6 straight years of hardly manageable moderate cystic acne; I now feel able to live with less stress of going to the gym/biking outdoors knowing Id soon see friction acne from my bra. Looking forward to wearing a swimsuit again. It may also have helped that I started cooking at home even more and focusing on post- antibiotic gut health. Previous to the first visit, I felt disappointed in myself and hopeless that all attempts at dietary adjustments around processed foods, sugars, fats were unlikely to succeed. Only thing that really seemed to work was hydrating & fasting, a temporary bandaid that I could not maintain due to my active lifestyle. Both my skin and digestive system have taken a step in the right direction, many thanks to Dr. Kia. Dont know the assistants name, but was helped via her personal advice from experience using 1-2 of the products.

Caution when considering this place and entrusting them with your well-being. Extremely unprofessional and fraudulent. I regretfully visited in November and I am still suffering the consequences of this poor decision. The doctor was brash and inconsiderate. When I asked him questions about his procedure or thought process, I was told because he is the doctor. He then literally told me I am going to be mean to your skin then proceeded to cut a huge gash out of my back that I wasnt prepared for. The whole appointment took less than 8 minutes and now I have unnecessary scars and a continuation of bills that keep fraudulently streaming in. I paid $150 upfront, then was billed another $150 a month later and just received another bill for $163. I HAVE insurance. I am with Cigna and am still paying bills that were never discussed--when I asked about pricing they said I would only have to pay the $150 at the office. Truly the worst of the worst. I highly recommend you take your search for health elsewhere.

Do not waste your time and money on this place. I never do reviews but the service I got here was completely awful. From the office staff to the doctor , just terrible. I had to pay near $200 for a office visit that did not even last 10 minutes AND was misdiagnosed. Dr Kia was very dismissive and would not let me explain myself. He just continued to talk over me and tell me that nothing was wrong. That the massive bump on my head that was causing me so much pain was just a bone . After getting a second opinion sure enough it was a growth that I had to have surgery to remove and have it biopsied.

Dr. Kia found a potentially carcinogenic spot on my nose and several precancerous lesions that my previous dermatologist had missed. I am convinced he prevented several severe skin cancers. Helpful friendly staff, accessible parking. Highly recommended.

Wow office visit alone costs $200+ without any other procedures performed. Way too expensive and it felt rushed!! Wont be coming back, there are way better dermatologists for a better price and better services in the area. Went to other dermatologists before and doctor performed the same procedure and diagnostic for half the price and it never felt that rushed. I feel like Im being way overcharged here for the same thing!! They wont verify insurance before hand and are very obscured about the pricing when asked.

After suddenly losing my friend to melanoma last fall it was important for me to find a thorough and caring dermatologist. Dr. Patel was excellent, the staff was courteous throughout the entire process and gave details and advice. I knew somewhat of what I ve was expected but Dr. Patel explained it so great that I really got my nerves out, procedure was needed and was quick and seems very straightforward. Very poor customer service. My Primary Care Doctor messed up and did not send a referral. Howsden Dermatology was aware of this and knew we were working with my insurance to get this fixed. Howsden Dermatoligy the sent my bill to collection without notifying me knowing this is going on. Howsden Dermatology stated they sent me a letter, called me and left me a voicemail, however, never once did I recieved a phone call from them. I also confirmed this with my phone records. Very poor customer service and will screw you over in the end if there is a insurance Issue.

Very rude office staff! I called to schedule an appointment and the woman who answered the phone was very rude and told me one moment. She left me on hold for 7 minutes, and when I called back theyre answering service was on. She purposely kept me on hold so she wouldnt have to help me. Dont go to this office!! I wish I could give 0 stars. I saw Dr. Patel for a skin rash I was experiencing on 11/05/2020. I had seen a different dermatologist from a different office previously, and she had prescribed me some steroid cream on 10/16/2020. The steroid cream was not working, so I called her office and she prescribed a different steroid cream, which also didn t work. My rash was getting worse and worse, so I tried to get in to see her again, but she was booked until December; so, I made an appointment at the dermatologist who could see me as quickly as possible, and this happened to be Dr. Patel. I did this because the rash was so itchy that I could not wait until December to be seen again. When I saw Dr. Patel and started to try and explain what was going on, he cut me off when I had been talking for less than a minute and asked me to lie down on my back. I told him that the rash was mostly on my back so it didn t make sense for me to lie down, but he insisted. After looking at the rash on the front of my body - where it was much less severe - for about 30 seconds, he told me that there are 2 kinds of rashes: nuisance rashes and serious rashes, and that this rash fell into the first category. So basically he told me that the pain and itchiness I was experiencing were not a big deal. And he said to keep using the creams and ointments that the previous doctor had prescribed. He finally looked at my back after I insisted that he do so, but he held firm and said that I had nothing to worry about, and then he excused himself from the room. A couple of days later, when my rash was so itchy I couldn t stand it, and huge blisters covered most of my back, I sent some photos to the first dermatologist I saw, who finally called me a couple of days later and told me that I had SHINGLES. By then, I had also developed nausea and a severe headache. The problem had been going on by so long at this point (this was on 11/09/2020) that even though I was finally prescribed an anti-viral medication, which helped a lot, the anti-viral was not as effective as it could have been had it been prescribed sooner, so I am still suffering from itchiness and a spreading rash. The duration of this illness could have been shortened by Dr. Patel if he had simply taken the time to listen to me and to actually look at my rash for more than 30 seconds. He is obviously a doctor who does not take his patients seriously. I will probably have skin scarring due to the severity of the shingles, and again, this may have been prevented if Dr. Patel had taken his time and intervened sooner. I am extremely dissatisfied with his lack of caring about my problem and his bedside manner.

I want to start out by saying that up until last week I would have given them 5 stars. So what changed? At my appointment last week the office demonstrated an almost complete disregard for patient safety regarding COVID. I am not all freaked out about COVID but to me this scenario was crazy for a medical facility. Here are a few examples of what I encountered: Check In: Called to counter by employee with mask under nose. Ended up standing shoulder to shoulder with another patient. I initially thought that patient was done. No, they were just working with 2 patients a a time with no social distancing. Lobby: I was asked to take a seat in the lobby. It was VERY full, no attempts to social distance. Most of the people in there were higher risk due to their age. All chairs were pushed up next to each other and the only place for me to sit would have been in a chair or on a couch both of which would have required me to sit directly next to someone. I waited out in a hallway. Exam Room: I raised this issue to the doctor (who I really like). After raising my concern I said I was done complaining. He said he would address the mask issue with the office manager. For the rest of the visit he just kept making excuse after excuse. 1. Covid has been going on for over 6 months, we have just gotten lacks in our practices 2. It is hard to address because we would have to reduce the number of patients we see. (Apparently having patients wait in their car like other medical facilities wont work for their office) 3. The other doctor wont reduce the number of patients he sees so Im not going to reduce mine 4. If we reduced the number of patients we see we would lose revenue. To me, this is the real issue: Revenue over patient safety. 5. I am just an employee, I dont make the rules Checkout: Called to a different counter to stand should to shoulder with 2 other patients (husband/wife) by another employee with her mask under her nose. 1. I said I would wait until the other folks were done. 2. They finished up, I walked up to the counter to pay, they immediately called another person up to stand next to me. I had to ask them to wait until I was done and pointed out I was asking due to social distancing. As I mentioned at the beginning, up until that visit I would have given this office a 5. If you dont mind an office that has a lack of regard for basic Covid safety measures, then you will love this office. Me personally, I at least want an office that wears their masks properly, adheres to the 6 foot social distancing guidelines, and doesnt put revenue over patient safety.

He takes his time with you, and makes sure you are well taken care of from start to finish. The office staff and nurses are super friendly. It s a great place. I would highly recommend Dr.Patel.

My initial contact with this practice at the admittance desk was pleasant and quick. Thereafter, even though I was a new patient, I was admitted to an examining room. I am currently dealing with a very embarrassing situation that Dr. Patel very politely and professionally assisted me with and I cant thank him enough. However, I am still having issues and requested a refill and wanted to simply know if there was anything that I could do independently to potentially give me some relief while awaiting approval for a refill of meds. Dr. Patels nurse was so rude on the phone and spoke in a very condescending tone as if she was almost disgusted with my problem and annoyed that I called. Dr. Kia was great, he referred me to a surgeon to remove a large intramuscular lipoma on my back and everything went well and is going good so far. Dr. Kia also spotted a mole on my back that looked suspicious. He quickly removed it and sent it in for testing, which thankfully came back as non-cancerous.
