Poorly planned harbor area could be so much better with better connectivity throughout the bayside if they had a boardwalk of some sort. Also no connectivity with THE STRAND makes it worse. Poor planning Cruise terminal 1 and 2 is misplaced. Should be grouped tohether with the new terminal 3. Parking is a nuissance. Galveston hatbor chose to be mediocre here.

We visited the 1877 Tall Ship Elissa and got a bonus of seeing the Gunilla which was in Port. We talked to a couple of the Elissa crew who just graduated from school and would be a part of her crew that will take her out to sea. The Gunilla has students from Sweden learning how to sail the open ocean. The group that was on board was heading back to Florida on Monday and then home as a new group of students was coming out to take over. It was very interesting to see the ships being maintained and in complete working order.

We didnt get to experience all of the places that Pier 21 had to offer so I cant comment too much. We were there for the Dolphin Watch excursion so we just walked around for a little bit to sight see. It was very clean and not as busy. Parking was $20 max but compare to other cities, its not that bad for a day parking. The public bathroom was a little hard to find, but ask for direction and youll get there. Plan for at least a day here with at least 2-3 activities if you want to make the best of your parking.
