We celebrated our anniversary with dinner at this restaurant while staying at the San Luis. Our meal was delicious and the service was exceptional. The staff even recognized our anniversary by presenting us with a card and a decorated plate with a beautiful piece of cheesecake and a lighted candle so we could make a wish for more years together...before blowing out the flame. A wonderful experience, fantàstic meal, and excellent service. We will be returning.

Was staying here for a conference and was able to go down to visit some friends and have a few drinks in the lounge area. I ordered the lobster bisque, as it came highly recommended. I have been searching for a good lobster bisque that would match the great bisque I had when I went to Maine a few years back. I have tried it at many different places and this one, by far, was the closest and sooooo good. The flavor was amazing and the waitstaff were extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. I went back again before leaving Galveston, just for the bisque and the good service. Definitely recommend. If you are looking for a nice low key spot to relax with some good food and good drinks, look no further!!!

Wow what an experience! My wife and I were staying at the San Luis resort and decided to dine at The Steakhouse for dinner. Reservation from the room was super simple. We arrived and were immediately sat. The decor was great, not too dimly lit and felt upscale. Our server (I cant remember his name) was awesome. He made excellent recommendations for drinks, meals and was extremely knowledgeable of the specials. Jowell, the F&B manager stopped by to check on us once our drinks arrived and was extremely polite and professional. She too made excellent recommendations, such as the French 75 for my wife which she loved. The steaks we ordered were cooked to perfection, the cream spinach and au gratin potatoes were unbelievable. Overall, fantastic experience! Great job!

Love the lighting of this restaurant. Very relaxing with the low lighting and dark wood. Comfortable booths also. The food was superb. I had the lobster. I was happy to know this restaurant had one of my favorite red wines Plump Jack. We had a bottle with dinner and a bottle to go. Wonderful service and the restaurant was quiet. Will return. I went to this restaurant several months an ago in April and I have been meaning to leave a review.

We were throughly enjoying ourselves and Richard served us and then he asked how our food was. I mentioned that my salad was drenched in too much dressing and maybe he could pass that on to the kitchen. I ate about a third of it because of the over abundance. We started w soup and salad and ordered two sides and two entrees. I ordered sushi and asked for mayonnaise and sirracha sauce to be on the side, but the mayonnaise came on the sushi, so I just scraped it off. One side was brussel sprouts and my husband asked if it they had meat in them and server said no just pine nuts, so I requested no pine nuts. When Richard served them he noticed a topping and said we don t want the nuts and he said that s cheese and you said no nuts. So we just wiped the cheese off of those as well. The food was delicious but our server s friendly attitude deteriorated soon after my salad dressing critique. He began to ignore our table for long periods of time while he was very present at his other tables including the one he was serving next to us. He skipped asking us if we wanted dessert or anything for that matter and handed presented the bill to us. The very competent host, who seemed to also be a manager was really on top of things, presented us with dessert menus. When Richard came back to pick up our check, my husband said we d like a dessert and the host/manager arrived saying wouldn t you like a dessert, so we took it to go and the manager comped it. That was a very pleasant surprise! I d definitely eat here again and have before but I feel Richard s attitude wasn t warranted.

My husband and I went to this restaurant for our anniversary. I loved the ambience and atmosphere of the place. However, I did not enjoy the food at all. I had the steak and my husband had the salmon. Tell me how can you not season salmon which came highly recommended! The steak was okay but we could have went to Outback Steakhouse and got a lower grade but better tasting piece of meat. We paid the bill and tipped the waiter but left highly disappointed.

John Paul is phenomenal. The food here is, as always, exquisite. Stone crab claws, crab stuff jumbo shrimp, and the tomahawk ribeye were absolutely perfect. The wine selection is nothing less than superb if you are a wine snob and enjoy your reds from the old world. 5/5 every time we have come here over the past 11 years now. EDIT: what is up with people bringing a bunch of kids in here and then complaining and leaving poor reviews? This is not a restaurant for children, it is an upscale prime steakhouse. They serve phenomenal, expensive wines, the best beef in the state of Texas: this is not some pizza joint where you bring your three and five year old kids: there are better and less expensive options for families with young children. This restaurant has an exclusive and romantic upscale atmosphere. This is not a Chuck E Cheese. If your idea of a good steak is a top sirloin from Golden Corral that is well done, you are going to be sorely disappointed coming here. Parking: Valet parking is validated if you eat in the steakhouse.

THIS PLACE is amazing! We went there to celebrate a big event in our life, and they did not disappoint! First off, they created a very pleasant, romantic and yet professional environment. The serving staff was terrific, professional and personable. We asked for Oysters Rockerfeller, which isnt even on the menu, and they delivered. They can do this with a prior ask when you make your reservations. Their oyster Rockefeller is THE BEST ever, and WE travel! Request it in advance and you wont regret it! Also, we tried the stuffed shrimp appetizer. This shrimp is graded as U2, meaning two shrimp make a pound. Its butterflied and stuffed with several ounces of crab and delivered with this amazing butter sauce, (it was a special). Just do it! This special shrimp is imported from the Indian Ocean. O.M.G... YUM!! After some wonderful appetizers, I just wanted a light salad with their ahi tuna Ala cart. Again, they delivered. My husbands scallops were huge and cooked perfectly! These were about an inch and a half in diameter and about an inch thick. Dont forget to finish off your evening with a delicate, light and rich cheesecake! Its worth it! Youre worth it! Enjoy!!! A BIG thank you to John Paul and Rich. They reeeally took care of us!! Parking: Just use the Valet service! They guys are super friendly and its worth it!

My first time there was in November and it was one of the best meals I have had in life! The absolute best lobster bisque Ive ever tested! Other high notes are the soft shell blue crab and brisket mac & cheese. My partner said it was the best steak hes ever had as well. Our server was amazing and made the experience extra special. I forget her name but it was a lady with blonde hair. We recently went back and I had the beef wellington, mushroom & onions and lobster mac & cheese. The wait staff was phenomenal, friendly, highly attentive and kept our water full! I like that the managers and other wait staff would come and check on us throughout the meal and also covered clearing the table while our Waiter was waiting on a couple other tables. Roberto was awesome, knowledgeable, friendly and attentive! The crab cake delicious and flavorful, meaty but not too bready, with big lumps of crabeat on top. The Wagyu Fillets were D-E-Licious is what my wife said, they also came with Demi glace and a homemade hollandaise sauce, that were both great on their own but phenomenal when mixed together! The brussel sprouts were cooked to perfection, not a super strong brussel sprouts taste, but flavorfull especially with the pine nuts to set it off! The Lobster Mac and Cheese, what can we say? The house favorite lived up to its status! P.S. theres lobster in thar! The passion fruit pineapple mocktail was devine! You kind of forget that you are drinking a mokcktail! Strawberry mint mocktail was good, not too sweet but not bland and I feel the mint pared well with the flavor. The butter cake has a nice subtle sweetness for dessert that is just the right finisher for a wonderful dinner date!

Way overpriced for food you can get at another Landrys restaurant for better taste. We had the filet mignon which was burnt on the outside, but cooked medium in the middle (asked for medium). Then lobster tail which was a little rubbery...we have enjoyed lobster tail at other restaurants and this one was not worth the price. The Seabass and desert were amazing and why we gave a 2 star for food. We spend a little under $300 with just the main dishes and no sides.

My Wife me and 3 kids came for a dinner, we got served all of our food and were not offered a high Chair for our 1 year old sitting on wifes lap, they would rather watch my wife struggle eating her food than have the courtesy of helping my wife. I had to call it out or they wouldnt do it Then after asking for extra food Carlos forgot to bring it by the time he remembered I was churned by his attention. Then to end it all he didnt even come to offer any refills. I was not leaving with out bringing this to the attention of the manager. Jerry then could not sincerely apologize but only say he understands what happened and have a dismissive look. This gesture and service was highly recognized as poor towards me and my family. We only got a hotel because of Connie at the front desk for her sincere professionalism.

I have had steak all over the state of Texas, and this was the worst one I ve ever had. Paid twice the price as a lot of restaurants around, and it wasn t worth 2% of the cost. Steak was ordered as medium-rare, it was cooked medium to medium-well. The fries were obviously cooked in the same oil as the shrimp, so they tasted pretty fishy . Mentioned both issues when asked about my meal, no response was given. Wait staff was very good and friendly. They are the only reason this place even gets one star. We would definitely come back; its elegant, upscale, and the food is very good, but it just wasnt enough to rate it a 5, maybe a 4.5. But if I have to pick a whole number, Ill round down. After spending over $200, we asked to order dessert to go and incurred a $1.35 take out fee. Obviously its not the amount that matters, but it wasnt the right way to end a night that fell a little short of expectations.

This place is very elegant yet down to earth (boujee) The maitre d was excellent and very communicative during our very small wait time (we had reservations) & sat us right up front in the VIP section. There was a cute lil band and a couple of people got up and danced. We had bruschetta for an appetizer, New York strip and loaded baked potato and it was all excellent. The only reason for 4 stars is because we felt our server could ve been more attentive as far as keeping drinks filled. I think that there were 4 servers that are involved in the experience so the glasses should ve never gone dry. We absolutely had a great time & will definitely go back.

For fine dining, I expected better. The staff was not very friendly, one of waiters kept ramming into my daughters chair (there is room to move), and no one picks up any dirty dishes but keeps trying to make us move our glasses around for my 120$ meal. You would figure they would try to clean us up first correct? Just dissapointed, I was hoping for a better experience.

Ridiculously amazing! I ve had steaks all over Texas and the ribeye I enjoyed tonight was hands down the best yet. The short rib mac and cheese was outstanding as well. Even the wedge salad was beyond expectations with the best blue cheese crumbles I ve ever had! Service ( waiter J.J.) was top notch. Beware, it isn t cheap, but well worth it for a special occasion. I didn t have room for the bourbon glazed bread pudding, and almost got one to go, but my desire to not put on weight over rode my desire for desert, this time.

The restaurant food was fabulous. Service was very, very good to just about perfect. The wine list is good. The best bottle was a Chateau Latour. Did not order, but they had it. A lot of California wines. Started with oysters on the half shell. I love oysters, i am by the sea, i am eating seafood. Although i want seafood, i love a great steak. I chose The Steakhouse because it was on property. Had the ribeye, medium rare. Cooked perfectly My spouse had a small filet. Delicious Side dish was roasted brussels sprouts. Very good The restaurant is pricey. The reviews i read have said not that expensive, but to me, that is expensive. The online menu lists the costs of their dishes. I would go back. Other things we did at Galveston Gaidos seafood restaurant, La Kings sweet shop, bought a salmon at Katies Seafood market with scallops

Dont make reservations, get dressed up and go here expecting a special experience. You very likely will be seated in the bar area, as we were. You can eat at the bar with no reservations, as we have many times, but this time we wanted a special night out and made reservations, thinking we could sit in the dining area. We asked to be seated in the dining area, but were refused. Unfortunately we experienced people fall down in the bar, be loud, sports games on TV and hotel guests with toddlers watching cartoons on devices with no regards to other patrons. We were very disappointed. The $300 food just didnt taste as good in that atmosphere. The Ahi Tuna was 2 uncut blobs with white vein strings in it. I had only a butter knife, so that was a waste. I can say, the service was impeccable, however, that didnt make up for ambiance. If we wanted to sit in a loud bar we could have gone literally anywhere on the island.

The food tasted alright, and the waiters were decent. However the experience was subpar for the amount of money paid. It just baffles me that such an upscale restraunt would have a faulty air conditioning system that would drip on their guests during their meals. Ive never had something such as this happen to me in a mcdonalds let alone an establishment that prides itself in service and quality. When I mentioned this to the wait staff, they came back with a mop and scrubbed the ceiling vent with it spraying even more water on me. Im rather appalled that that is the atmosphere for a restraunt where hundreds of dollars a table is a standard.

We were so disappointed. The staff is not friendly. We were dressed nicely so Im not sure why they were doing us a favor for being allowed to make reservations to eat here. We first got a small table in the middle of the resturant. A couple coming in after us got the huge circular booth. $55 for NY strip sirloin. They first switched our dinners. He got my steak, I got his. They werent sure who ordered the side so I watched a server carry my brussel sprouts around the restaurant until he found the waiter and asked which of us got it. We never got anything to drink except water because we didnt order wine. Im not sure what happened there. We ended up leaving because the final straw was when my husbands steak had a tendon wrapped in fat running down the length of it. First 3 bites he had he had to embarressingly and discretely spit into his napkin, which is difficult when youre in the middle of everything, waiters skimming by us because they couldnt get around our table. Awful experience, and they knew it was our anniversary! Dont waste your time. We had a similar experience 20 years ago when we came here on our honeymoon. Edit: restaurant asks me to fill out feedback form. Seriously...its all here!! Fill it out yourself. Your restaurant made us feel like we were not worth your time, now youre not worth mine.

Forewarning, this is the most expensive restaurant Ive ever been. Be prepared to pay $100 per adult to eat here. Now for my honest feedback...the price goes towards the service and atmosphere, not taste/quality of food. The service is top notch and the atmosphere is very inviting. Unfortunately, when it comes to the actual taste/quality of food, The Steakhouse wouldnt even make my Top 10 list of steakhouses nor my Top 25 list of restaurants. At their price point, they should have the capital to compete with some of the best restaurants around, but they just dont. The kids ordered mac and cheese, and lobster mac and cheese, which were the only dishes that I could say that were amazing. They were homemade, not Kraft, and clearly made with a proper rue. We ordered the tuna dish and the ribeye. The Tuna was cooked perfectly at rare, but the flavor lacked. It needed a crust or more seasoning to take it up a notch or two. It was served with potato wedges and side salad, but the wedges were really dry and the salad was lifeless. The ribeye didnt taste like a prime cut to me which should be a given at its price point. If it was prime cut, Id call their supplier into question. It was fairly gritty and the sauce didnt compliment the meat in my opinion. The desserts were decent, but not worth $10 a pop. We ordered the lava cake and ice-cream, the New York cheesecake, and the banana cream pie. My son didnt even eat half the lava cake, due to its dryness and lack of flavor, but the cheesecake was pretty good (not top 10 worthy though), and the banana cream pie filling was really good, but the pie crust was dry and flavorless. I would consider coming back to give The Steakhouse a second try in the future, however they would have to cut their prices in half for me to consider taking that risk.
