We were there this past Saturday, early afternoon, after nearly dying from heat at the sand castle building contest, I found this place on a Galveston page almost a year ago and made a point to put them on my list of must try on the island! They did not disappoint!!! I had the chicken salad sandwich, my husband had the turkey avacodo sandwich. It was decadent, we both had leftovers (because the portions were more than enough) and had our leftovers that eve on the beach after we went to watch the announcement of the sand castle winners. This will always be a go to for us now!!

We came here for lunch and it was POPPIN! They were packed. Luckily we called ahead and didn t wait long. There is indoor and outdoor dining. This place is very unique with a very large variety of options. They make most by scratch and have fresh baked goods daily. I have never had a bad thing here so I would recommend this to a friend.

I visited this café this weekend and it was a great little spot. The staff greeted us as soon as we walked in the door and constantly checked on us throughout our visit. You walk in and order at the counter and then grab a table. The menu had a good variety of items to choose from. Staff bring out your food when it s ready. The food was great! Two of us had the Nancy s 1-2-3 with a cinnamon bun pancake and another ordered the Doc s Ruben Omelette. I loved all the cute and funny signs hung on the wall.

I found this place after getting not great service at another place, and let me say, everything happens for a reason! This place was fantastic! Small, cozy, operated with love and you can tell! I had the Benni breakfast tostadas - incredible!! Highly recommend! The silverware and coffee cups are in a self serve area, and the coffee cups are a mixture of random cups with random saying and things. Super neat. The only drawback that I experienced was the coffee. It said it was Folgers, and based on taste I do think it was, which kind of explains why it wasn t great. Overall, will definitely be back!

Very mediocre. Made another visit for biscuits & gravy. It was less than hot but tasty. Very good coffee. The French toast breakfast sandwich read gr8 on the menu but the execution was bland - French toast over done, bacon rubbery, tasteless sausage, another cheese mightve combined better than American cheese...

The smuggler burrito was the star of the show, the best I ve ever had. I d been craving a good breakfast burrito forever and finally found one worthy of my approval! They fry the whole thing, making everything inside a melty delicious mess! The Dara egg salad sandwich was delicious as well, crispy bacon and warm buttered toast contrasting the cold egg salad, simple perfection! I did finish them both. Came back and tried the big bubba burger basket with seasoned fries and it was worth the second visit! So much perfect deliciousness packed in between those toasted buns! And those fries OMG!

I was really excited to try this place, and the food is really good don t get me wrong. It got real confusing when they messed up my order. My friend was brought her 2 piece french toast, all is perfect, but hadn t brought the one piece french toast that I ordered yet. That s when I politely said to the server I ordered a ONE piece french toast (which is what I was charged for from the beginning ) I was eventually brought a TWO piece french toast. That s fine. It s whatever. It got weird when one of the servers comes up to me and my friend, and says you re gonna have to pay for one of these 2 piece french toasts per my manager, one of them wasn t rung up by mistake At this point I m thinking, well if it s your mistake, then just comp the 2 piece french toast my friend had ordered. The server eventually brought us another piece of french toast on the house. I had kinda chuckled and said well now we have 2 extra pieces of french toast when all I wanted from the beginning was a one piece of french toast That s when the server says well I m glad, and ya ll got away with it like bandits! we didn t get away with anything They just got our order wrong, and then wanted my friend to come back and pay. Like no? Also, I wasnt trying to be rude to her by saying what I said. But it was just confusing.

We heard this was the place to go for breakfast so we stopped on our way out if town. Atmosphere was quaint and friendly! I had the BLT which was as expected so I was happy. My husband, on the other hand, had the Smuggler and the hostess recommended the sausage gravy topping. He said the burrito was fabulous but ruined by the sausage gravy. If you are a sausage gravy fan, do not order this as you will be disappointed. He said the sausage in the gravy was so heavily coated with flour, you couldnt taste the sausage. Due to that, the gravy did not have that sausagy flavor you are looking for. My husband is a cook and true foodie, so I trust his review.

A very busy little restaurant and bakery. We came in about 11am on a Tuesday, but luckily was able to get a table shortly after we ordered. The menus are to the left as you walk in on a counter. Once you figure out what you want, pay for the order, theyll take your name and bring the order to you calling your name. The sodas are in cans/bottles, water and tea (sweet and unsweet) are fountain. We waited about 30 minutes for the food, which might be a long time to some, but I assure you its worth it. I had the Smugglers w/sausage gravy, and my spouse and son had the Cinnamon Pankcakes. We were more than happy to wait that long for that quality of food! The staff was very kind and everyone was hard working to make sure all guests were taken care of. The mens bathroom was in excellent shape and clean. Wonderful brunch experience overall!

I usually stop here when I m in Galveston. They have lovely breakfasts. Whatever you do, do not pass up the blueberry scones. They are not the hard coffeehouse bricks they are little puffs of sugary wonderful! Soft and buttery like a real scone should be! The only downside to this place is the coffee is meh. It comes from a weir dispenser like you find in a hospital. So skip the coffee and order and extra scone! Or some cake. Good pancakes. Excellent skillet potatoes. Parking: Parking is along a residential street but it s not hard to find. I like that it isn t on the strand or seawall so it s free to park.

We were visiting the area and tried Shykatz for breakfast for the first time. We really wanted to love it but unfortunately, it was a miss for us. Loved all the decor but the food was really just meh. Buttermilk pancakes were not fluffy at all and looked like ones I would make at home. The 2 pieces of ham on the side looked to be one larger piece that was cut into 4 pieces and 2 being my serving. The ham tasted good and you could taste vanilla in the pancakes but not a good, fluffy buttermilk pancake I was expecting. For the price, I would have expected more and better. The orange juice in a plastic bottle tasted like it might have been cold, then warm or room temp and back to cold - just had an off taste and it was definitely not being expired (first thing I checked). Hubbys veggie omelet was...fine. Again, nothing special with no seasoning at all being detected. On the plus side, in addition to the fun decor, the staff was friendly and food was served quickly. While we are staying nearby, we wont be going back based on the food.

Shykatz is a super eclectic local eatery tucked away in a neighborhood. The atmosphere is almost overstimulating in that there are so many interesting things to look at that you don t know where to start. The food and service was very good. This is a place I will return to if in the area again

First time here, and its an amazing the service is good , the atmosphere is friendly, I ordered the Double Bubble medium well. The fries have slim to no salt, which is perfect. I hate a salty fries. Im a tea drinker so I had unsweetened tea with lemonade in it. I also got a piece of the 3 layered strawberry cake which taste like there is cream cheese frosting , strawberry syrup and fresh strawberries OMG! I definitely will be coming back .. Kid-friendliness: They have a seat swing located outside the front for you to sit and swing , so a kid would love that also the menu is full of fun times to do while waiting for the food.

Nice little beach Cafe. Breakfast is great and you wont leave hungry! My only complaint is that we sat for quite a while before we realized we were supposed to order at the counter. Theres a sign stating this but it was covered by another sign. Otherwise the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and the food is great!

This breakfast spot was super cute and laid back. Luckily we arrived between the breakfast and brunch crowds so our wait was minimal and food was served quickly. The food was delicious, no frills, and fresh. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and was pleasantly surprised they have the option for a croissant. They also offered pepper jack cheese. Both of which I typically dont find together. The breakfast potatoes werent my preferred style, they were too thick but still delicious. I ordered the hot chocolate and it was made so beautifully!! Drinks and utensils are self serve. There are a lot of funny, cute signs to read too. Also they offer outdoor seating which is perfect for the fall weather were currently having. Highly recommended for a drop in spot. Family friendly too.

While searching for a breakfast place on the island, I came across a review for this place and the menu looked great so I thought I would try it. I decided on the Tomelette. I figured hey, its an omelette right? No. It was actually the best damn omelette I have ever eaten. Perfectly cooked, stuffed with ham, mushrooms, and cheese and then covered in more cheese. It was delicious and served with a double side of perfectly cooked bacon and the best salsa I have ever eaten. Seriously I could have drank it out of the little cup. I cant recommend this place enough and cant wait to go back and try more of the menu.

Great breakfast/lunch/brunch place located a few blocks off Seawall Blvd. Outdoor patio when weather permits but you gotta go inside for the eclectic decor, loved this find during my visit. Parking: Location is in a neighborhood so youll park on the street, just be considerate of the neighbors.

Discovered this really cute and yummy establishment yesterday! We each had the turkey avocado sandwich on their jalapeno bread - fabulous! The bacon was perfectly cooked and so flavorful! Combination of ingredients was spot on! A slice of chocolate cake and piece of sopapilla cheesecake finished things off! Well definitely be back & soon!

Visited Galveston last summer with my niece and my 7 yr old great niece. While driving around enjoying the beautiful old homes, we spotted this jewel off the beaten path. Came back the next morning for a late breakfast and we were hooked!! Great home cooked meals, family vibe, friendly, caring staff. A year later when we share stories of our trip, Shy Katz is truly one of the top highlights. Love Love Loved it!! With all the touristy places to visit in Galveston, it was so comforting to have such a quaint respite we all three thoroughly enjoyed. We will make Shy Katz a Must Do anytime we go back. Thank you Shy Katz!!!!

Casual atmosphere, happy friendly staff, and the food is wonderful. One of those places where you can have breakfast for lunch. Had a reuben omlette which sounded just weird enough that I had to give it a try. I mean, who thinks of putting sauerkraut with eggs, but OMG, it worked! Too much food to eat in one sitting, so I got a box to go and savored the deliciousness twice. I will be back!

We also shared the French toast and it was among the best Ive ever had. Be prepared for a bit of wait time on your food if its busy, but it is soooo worth the wait!
