To be sure, the food server was excellent as was the food. The experience just started off very awkwardly. As the hostess seated us, she handed my menu to me first and then tried to hand a menu to my wife before she was seated properly. So, she had a menu in her left hand a purse in her right hand. She no more than got seated with her purse on her lap still held onto by her right hand than the host was trying to place a napkin in her lap for her on top of her purse. He then grabbed her purse from her and stuffed it in the next seat. As soon as he left, she had to retrieve her purse anyway as her reading glasses from her purse to read the menu. My grouper filet with crab, capers, and lemon butter was excellent as was my wife s grilled chicken sandwich. However, we will not be back due to lack of etiquette on the part of the host staff.

This was one of most memorable meals I have ever experienced, everything about this experience was over the top. Watching the waiters and staff was like a ballet, the service was outstanding. Top notch restaurant. Flavors were incredible, portions were large and the Crab Cakes were tasty and plentiful, a meal in itself. Well done, great evening.

We went for my husband s birthday, and the host as well as our waiter wished him a happy birthday. The service was great. Our waiter was attentive and kind. The food? Meh. I had lump crap on avocados, and kept getting shell in about half of my bites. Some of the avocado was smooth and buttery, some was hard and not ripe. There was also shrimp on tomatoes with a delicious raspberry spread. The raspberry was probably the best part of the meal. The shrimp was a bit tough. My husband liked his red snapper, but had had better elsewhere. The Old Fashioned was only okay. I could ve made it better. The table next to us was also celebrating a birthday and they got dessert and a visit from Paco. We got nothing. Very disappointing and a big letdown as it had come highly recommended. Very overpriced for what you get. Don t waste your money and go to Number 13 instead.

It has almost been a year since our trip to Galveston. Rudy & Paco s was our number one stop on our extended weekend and I still think about it. Loved the food and loved the atmosphere. Tableside Carajillo 43 was also the perfect nightcap after our meal and desert. We will back to Galveston just to eat here again.

A Gentleman at our hotel recommended Rudy and Paco Restaurant and bar and we are so happy he did. The food was very good and the selections on the menu were nicely varied. We found the atmosphere to be very nice, classy without being stuffy. Our server was excellent very friendly and very attentive. This was a really nice dining experience for us. I bought 266 dollars worth of food yesterday some included steaks to go. Two steaks were ordered well done. When I got home two steaks were red almost rare. I went back to the restaurant and immediately the blame game started. Y all ordered medium rare. I told them we did not and asked to speak to the manager. I showed the manager the picture of the steak and she said we alway cook them underdone because people like to take them home and heat them up. I said we eat our food when we buy it. She left and some old Fat guy came and said he was not going to do anything about it and suggested I bring the meat back as proof. I told him we threw it away yesterday. He was a very rude and unprofessional. All the staff were the same way. They acted like it was our fought. What Paco permit Paco promotes and it s very evident the way the whole restaurant treats people.i do not recommend this place. The worst restaurant in Galveston by far in my opinion. Worst place to eat in my opinion. No way I will go back here.Horrible food in my opinion. There are much better options elsewhere.

The service for such a high end restaurant was terrible, they should be embarrassed. Our waitress was not friendly and she never brought our appetizer. We were asked if our food was ok at the end of our meal, she never asked if we wanted another drink. Our water was never refilled and we were basically just left with no service at all. Tables close to us that ordered the $110 bottle of discounted wine were being attended to just fine. We did get asked about dessert 2 times after we declined. The atmosphere is beyond stuffy and uninviting. They were not even close to being busy so this was not a staffing numbers issue. When we left, not one person (there were many staff just standing around) said thank you or have a good night...nothing. Wont be going back here again.

We had an amazing dinner this evening at Rudy & Paco. I enjoyed the baked red fish topped with lump crab, broccolini, and au gratin potatoes. My wife had the plantain-encrusted chicken breast served over a black bean sauce with queso blanco, maduros, yucca, and sour cream. The food was simply outstanding and was perfectly topped off with a pecan ice cream ball for dessert. The highlight of the evening was when Paco Vargas, the owner, stopped by our table. The service provided by Andy was exceptional some of the best Ive experienced at a restaurant in a long time. He even took some great pictures for us to remember the evening. If youre ever in G-Town, make sure to stop by here for a meal, and don t forget to make reservations in advance. Highly recommended!

I wouldnt visit this establishment. The owner and management are bottom tier when it comes to customer service and to their employees. Paco has been accused multiple times of assaulting his female employees and treating them badly when they reject him. If you come here, youre supporting these behaviors. And just because they are the owners of the establishment, they think they can get away with this. Shut this place down

This was supposed to be romantic, but was too tightly packed and very loud. Service was impeccable. Food was disappointing -- wifes chicken was overcooked to the point she couldnt eat half of it. My steak was on point but the lobster tail was also overcooked. This was the most expensive place we ate in Galveston and just didnt live up to expectations.

The service experience was well orchestrated with entrees presented in such a way that all patrons at our table were served simultaneously. The crab bisque is delicious. The owner traveled to several tables to speak with guests. He walked by our table, but no eye contact or interaction. Our waiter was very attentive. The atmosphere is intimate, kept at a great temperature, and has a beautiful ambiance.

Meh. This place is overrated. The food was alright. They made my order wrong, including leaving out a main part of the dish, while including what I asked to be left out. The waiter even repeated it back to me when she wrote it down, so I guess they dont verify the food is correct. It wasnt bad food but not that good. I got the burger and it was just bland. The fries were okay, but they were the type you get at the gas station or frozen, so they were batter type seasoned and tough. The signature sauce appeared to be Heinzs signature sauce (aka plain ketchup). For $20 and a tip, I shouldnt be wishing I had just stopped for fast food. The waiters were professional but uncomfortable. I like a waiter who talks to you like youre a person. We had 4 waiters deliver the food so they could present it to each of us at the same time but my waiter was early so she stood awkwardly hovering over me while she waited for the others. I couldnt figure out at first what she was doing, as she didnt speak to me. It was really odd. I get the fancy presentation but Id rather just have a great waiter and an accurate order. They also swapped part of the charges on the bill for me and another person at my table. This was fixed on the charge but not on my receipt. The atmosphere was nice overall. It was quiet and pleasant, with nice decor and good lighting. I didnt appreciate the naked man photo in the bathroom, and the mouthwash jar didnt work, but the bathroom was clean. Dietary restrictions: The majority of the menu appears to contain dairy or wheat, and most meals dont list what is included, so it can be difficult to identify from the menu.

My wife & had were in Galveston for 3 nights, tried to get reservations for dinner, but was booked every night. Ended up getting in for lunch. Oh my. It was my second time here, but my husbands first. We had lunch so I had the meatloaf sandwich and my husband had the Angle (pasta). And heaven it was. Perfectly cooked and so divine. My husband had stolen mine and switched our plates and both meals were...mwaaa-perfection. The plantains were the best ever enjoying two sauces. For desert we had the Paco freeze. My husband ditched the straw and picked up a spoon. It was that good. This is a must try for the experience will bring you back to days gone by with the atmosphere and in synch waiters, and that music!!!! Fabulous all around!!

Best in Galveston and probably in Galveston County. Owner Francisco Paco Garvas has a top notch restaurant. Food is amazing and different so always interesting. Staff is very attentive and friendly. It is expensive, especially with wine, so just know it is not fast food. It is elegant high brow dining. Lunch specials are more economical and still quite good. Love this place.

The worst experience I ve ever had at ANY restaurant. This has got to be the worst establishment on Galveston Island! Management team went above and beyond to cause problems with my wife and I. When the owner got involved, we obviously could figure out where the training of the management came from. The owner was very disrespectful to us, as well as some other customers. Because of the situation (Too much detail to list here ) we asked the OWNER if he respected other people s religious and cultural beliefs, his response was NO, and I don t have to, I have had this place 27 years! We chose to leave and not support this kind of establishment! We highly advise you do not waste your time or money in this horrible place! The most unnecessarily uncomfortable experience I have ever encountered. The pretentious and controlling manager has no respect for humanity. He exemplifies a non thinking robot that cannot and will not make concessions for customers and instead uses policy to pick on them. He along with the owner were willing to take their discrimination to the highest level until my husband and I were so uncomfortable we had to leave. STUPID. I am happy to not support an establishment which lacks moral decency and the ability to make a rational decision. I felt like the owner treated us like second class citizens when he realized we werent drinking alcohol. When they have a good one the review is often. The food is second to none, the service is exquisite, and the owner Paco brings back the old fashioned way of service. It doesn t matter who you are or what you do Paco will come around and introduce himself and ask about your experience. This itself is a lost art form in the restaurant industry. I ve been around the world. But the best restaurant I ve ever been to is Rudy and Pacos in Galveston. First of all I tried to book a 6:00 reservation and they only had 5:30 available. Which was very surprising as the entire time we were there only 6 tables were occupied. The server taking care of us was very pleasant but we felt rushed and couldn t have enjoyed our meal even if it had been good. Escargot was very good but our entrees were not good, lamb and ahi tuna were both well done! We have recommended this business for years and will not be able to in the future.

My wife and I made reservations for dare night. We parked across the street in a small parking lot. The resteraunt was beautiful and cozy; we were greeted with many smiles. Our waitresss name was Anna and she was superb at her job. The plantane chips and salsa were divine, the complimentary bread was hot as well as delicious. The waitstaff was attentatvie and top-notch. It is always a fine dining experience at Pacos. I LOVE LOVE the food, the atmosphere and the staff. Paco is always there to greet us and works along with the staff to get the job done! They have so many good items to choose from, but the Friday lunch special is my favorite. Blackened Mahi-mahi in lemon butter sauce with sides and and a salad. You have to try it! Any menu item you choose will surpass your expectations.

Everytime we are at Galveston, we always make time to get Rudy & Paco lunch or dinner. Last night, I placed a take out and got Bowl of Bisque for $30 and got to house to open the bag and it was in a small container and not worth $30. Got the Pelo De Angel for $36 and was so bitter since the chicken was over cooked and burnt on the ends which the angel hair was either oily or sour. My husband and I loved our dinner experience. The service was top notch. That is saying a lot, considering that we live in Austin which is known for best service and we ve traveled to several cities. However, I did notice that a couple in workout apparel allowed inside despite the restaurant s dress code. They sat at the bar but I noticed many of the patrons were eyeing them as well. If you are going to have a dress code in place, please enforce all patrons to it and not make the exception for regulars.

I have my first trip to Galveston booked for next month march of 2023 and when I made the reservation, the person I was speaking with at least, didnt seem very welcoming. I mentioned it was an anniversary dinner and our first time in Texas and she just seemed NOTICABLY unenthused. We came here to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. I had an Island Old Fashioned and my wife had a Paco Tini. We had Empanadas Mixtas for an appetizer. Then a wedge and spinach salad. Impeccable service and delicious food!! Our party of 8 came in for lunch. We were seated promptly and drinks served. The waiter was knowledge and made recommendations. The fried plantain chips came out with two sauces. Yummy! I didn t get pics of every dish but what really impressed me was the level of service - truly white glove synchronized service. With a large party that is extra impressive! We will most definitely return soon!
