I enjoy eating sushi from SkyBar. My favorite is the dragonfly roll. The music is a little loud for me but the waiters and staff are wonderful. I highly recommend especially if you want sushi with a nice drink after a long week.

Absolutely awesome sushi!! Only issue is on busier nights even after being seated we experienced over a 30 minute wait to even get water. Once service started after having been seated well over half an hour, it was a good experience. Main complaint was the wait to even get any sort of attention from a waiter after having been seated so long. The food was well worth the wait, and once we got service, they were absolutely delightful!! Highly recommend any of the rolls on the menu.

Came in for dinner, again. Definitely my favorite sushi place on the island. Great food, and great service. It keeps me coming back every time Im in town. Parking: Parking on the street can be very tough sometimes. Might have to circle the block a few times to find something. There is a paid parking lot across the street however that usually has spaces.

Arrived to a packed restaurant at 10:00 on Saturday night. The lady who sat us at the bar explain the menu and brought us water. I asked if she was our waitress, no, she was the manager. Understandably, the waitress was very busy. Our waitress was very kind when she greeted us a few minutes later, we felt welcome and the food and drinks were delivered promptly. Food is delicious, staff is wonderful. Great island staple for good sushi.

Ate the 8oz Filet Mignon and some Sashimi and Sushi. The food was pretty good. Even though some tables were empty and it was already nearly 8pm when we walked in, the hostess asked the 2 of us to sit at the Bar, which I felt was strange. But, the server more than made up for that with excellent service.

Delicious food. Helpful staff. A broad range of cocktails and complimentary spirits to choose from. I personally have a selective diet so talking with my server, and knowing what I am looking for made it so easy. My food was out quickly afterwards. It can get busy easily so I was lucky. I noticed a small group who didnt know what they wanted to have so they kept changing things they ordered and it slowed my server (I didnt modify much so it was fast for me) but every thing came out exactly as they ordered. I ended up sharing my bottle of cold sake with them. It just goes to show you can meet new people easily when you have tasty food and good drinks.

My husband and I stopped in and had a wonderful experience! He got a steak dinner while I had some sushi. Amazing service and atmosphere as well. Get there before the dinner rush so you don t have to wait because this spot fills up quick around dinner time! We highly recommend this restaurant! We have been wanting to try this place, unfortunately we were sorely disappointed. We had the Chicken Yakatori and it was awful. The chicken was like rubber, I literally spit it out and could not eat anymore and ended up just eating the veggies & rice. The sauce tasted like it was from a jar and the rice was way over cooked. I wanted to like this place because the atmosphere is kind of cool but I absolutely will not waste another dime there. Too many other great places in Galveston.

Went here for a date night on a Sunday evening. I liked the ambiance inside however it was very cold, we asked to sit outside instead and it was no problem. The waitress was extremely attentive and made sure to check in on us at just the right times. We had a few dishes and a few rolls and I was pleasantly surprised how good the sushi was! I almost hate to write this review because our favorite secret spot is going to get noticed.... We when made the permanent move to Galveston 3 years ago, we were already aware of the excellent sushi at Sky Bar - we had been visiting this restaurant for a about 10 years when we were in town for the weekend. However, we were a bit worried that in living down on the island full time, it wouldnt regularly live up to our expectations given how often we ate sushi on a regular basis in Houston. We shouldnt have been worried! Not only is the food ALWAYS excellent, I truly believe that it has actually gotten even better over the last year. And the happy hour menu - and prices - keep us coming in on a weekly basis. Kiki, the chef, and DJ, our fav server, have made this restaurant our go-to place. Thanks, Galveston, for serving up such a gem of a restaurant. Were foodies & this place easily competes with some of the bigger players in H-Town!

The staff is extremely unprofessional and choose to stand at the bar talking and drinking iced coffee. The sushi was not fresh, they did not listen and cooked the steak completely wrong and one of the workers got and attitude when I stated that one of the drinks tasted funny. He said I must not like that particular drink .. seeing as I ordered that particular thing, it was not the case. He made a face and went to the back while grumbling under his breath and talking to the staff about me. The total was over $60 and the food stayed on the table. If you choose to go here please be prepared for uncaring and problematic staff. Do with it what you will.

A fun surprise as we are not from Galveston and the best I could do was look up places and trust reviews! I made a reservation through Google Assistant which was so easy, so I didnt even have to wait to talk to someone. When we arrived a few minutes early, they were happy to seat us early and the waitstaff was excellent. It did take a bit to prepare our sushi order, but we were kept in the loop by our waiter who kept our glasses full. Once delivered, we were thrilled with each item we got--I love that they have sushi rolls by the piece so you can try a little of everything, and I also had some sashimi which was very good and fresh. Martini was top notch, and we left very happy to have discovered a great place! Will definitely be back. Thank you for making our last night in Galveston so memorable!

I stopped in for the late night happy hour they have, as a nice little treat. I was promptly met at the door and directed to seat. The server was friendly and knowledgeable about the cold sale offerings. My seaweed salad came very quickly, followed by my gyoza. After I had time to finish those items my sushi selections were ready, all the food items I ordered were available from the extensive happy hour menu. Its definitely a local favorite, and stays fairly busy, but the staff is always friendly and attentive.

This restaurant was a great surprise! Their Happy Hour sushi and appetizers all hit the mark. The escolar sushi was so delicious and Fresh; it s was butter tender. Yes the sushi pieces are small but their appetizers are huge! We ordered edamame (both plain and spicy), crab Rangoon, crispy vegetable spring rolls, shrimp shumai, seven spicy calamari, and a couple of roll pieces as well as Maguro. All were fantastic! Their cocktails during happy hour were also divine! I had the ecstasy and hubby had the titanium martini. All of it was Scrumptious and that is coming from two hard core food snobs!! We had an excellent experience here New Years Eve! We had a reservation and were running a bit late due to difficulty finding a lyft. We contacted Sky Bar and they assured us there was no worry, they would hold our reservation. When we arrived all the inside tables were full but the manager, Thomas, got us seats at the bar and provided us with a free drink while we waited. Once seated the servers were attentive and the food was AMAZING. We had noticed how fresh the items in the sushi bar case were and it was clear in the taste of our meal that all their food was kept that fresh. We enjoyed seeing part of the crew from here over at Envy later that night :) I highly recommend this place.

Ive been looking to try this place for quite some time since moving down here from HTX. The service was acceptable. The quality and price just dont add up. Same people own the gumbo joint and Texmex restaurant on either side. I see now that the same lackluster kitchen who puts out the gumbo is also responsible for the sushi. I hate to leave a poor review but hope it helps the next person. In retrospect, I shouldve gone by the taco truck off 33rd and saved the rest of my $180.

We got cocktails, which were amazing. The stars of the show were the Crab Rangoons and the Galveston Sunrise roll. Let me tell you i m the one that always gets crab rangoons when I go anywhere that serves them and they were the BEST by far. We got the sushi happy hour at first.. and both tried the sunrise roll. Ended up getting an entire roll of it after that because it was so good. I don t think our server even made it back to the kitchen by the time we finished the roll. And again- My husband doesn t eat sushi a lot!! We are moving away unfortunately but every time I come to the area- you ll find me here!!

Upon sitting down, I ordered cocktails, an edamame app & some simple veggie sushi rolls (pictured). My cocktail and edamame came out fairly quickly, but then I waited for a cucumber roll & an avocado roll for over 1 hour. It was busy, but tables around me were seated, ate, and left, in the amount of time I was waiting for my sushi. I assume something with our order got messed up or forgotten about in the kitchen, causing our food to come out so late. On another note, my simple cucumber roll was $9 and my avocado roll was $7.95. Ive never seen prices this high for basic vegetable rolls. Id consider going to Skybar again only for cocktails or if the menu prices are adjusted to reflect the value of the veg options.

Sky bar is a trendy lounge on post office which seats a surprisely amount of people from what you would imagine on the outside. Happy hour appetizers and drinks really lured us in. The Hawaii 5-0 and snowcone martinis were very sweet and whichever sake we had also went down easily. The seaweed salad, calamari, and coconut shrimp were our top appetizers. The shumai were somewhat bland but still very tender. We split our entrees between steaks and sushi (as the name of the restaurant might encourage), and had Spider, Danny, and Scorpion rolls to share along with the strip steak.

Visiting Galveston and decided to try place out. Decided not to, however, as manager on duty was rude. We got there for our reservation and table was not ready. He was non chalant and did not care that we had to wait. Other customer we met outside said the same thing. Thirty minutes later they tried calling us , but we left. This place was extremely small and really not all that. They should not be taking reservations if they cannot turn tables quickly. The place to go is Yamato! We ate there two days ago and it was amazing. After getting bad service and attitude at this place we went back to Yamato without a reservation and they made accommodations to seat us quickly. This place could learn a thing or two from Yamato.

Whether you sit inside or outside, its a great dining experience. The titanium Martini is delicious, does taste a bit like a margarita so if youre not a fan of those maybe dont order it. The plating is gorgeous and food is delicious!

Phenomenal! Its has survived here for a little bit and made quite the name for its self so if you like fresh fish with a great line of cocktails drinks as well as a full bar. Its a small placebut it has outside seating as well and if you have to wait for a bit its worth it lots of beautiful people enjoy

Best spot for sushi on the island hands down! Great service (our waitresses name was Marissa I think!) Clean restaurant. The salmon is fatty and delicious. The crunchy veggie springrolls are soooo good!!!The steak is top quality. I d say this is one of the best restaurants on the strand definitely. They re also dog friendly on the patio! I m obsessed it s so good & well priced <3!!!!!!! Everything is super fresh and made to order. I ll definitely be coming back! THIS PLACE ROCKS!

Third time I ve ordered and paid extra for soy paper and they sent me with seaweed. I have an allergy to seaweed and since I ordered through an app I can t get a refund or even the correct food. I m out 70 something bucks for food I can t even eat. Have called and was told they will pay more attention and then it happens again.

First and last visit. Food was great, but food service was super slow on sushi items. Appetizer came out very quick. I ordered the Steak Teriyaki dish and other 2 people ordered 3 different sushi rolls. They brought my food out but their sushi did not come out until 20 minutes later. Whoever makes the sushi is super slow. The food was good, but not worth the wait for us. Also very noisy place.

Shhh, best kept secret. Super small spot but great atmosphere. Service was a notch slow but we werent in any hurry. Couldnt beat the ALL NIGHT Happy Hour on a Friday! Ordered martinis, edamame, tuna tower, and a few different pieces of sushi at a great price.. enabled us to try a lot of different kinds! Thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Well be back!

My family and I just came here from Dallas to visit. We called to place an order to go and the gentlemen who pick up the phone said we are not taken any more orders. It was hour from closing now I work in restaurant for years and we take orders until we close to make sure our customer get the great experiences. I would give them a zero for there customer service. I give the stars for the atmosphere. But as I was sitting at the bar eating I look over and see a butcher block with sushi rolls layer out and it was sitting in the middle of the sink on the ledge with dirty dishes & old plastic wrap layer around. It had one roll partially hanging off the edge over the dirty dishes. I see a server taking pieces off this serving. We set there about 40 minutes and watched this food sitting there uncover also. The cut sushi pieces in the cooler were not covered and turning brown. Nope we got out of there.

If I could give zero stars I would! Since I can t I m going to give a brief summary of our experience. My husband and I went to enjoy a nice dinner in downtown Galveston. We like smaller owned businesses and wanted to get away from the craziness on the sea wall. We are seated at 8pm and the waitress takes our drink order and appetizer order. (My husband changed from the regular edamame to the spicy edamame, and I ll explain this at the end) She also explains how their happy hour works with ordering by the piece rather than the roll. This made us excited because we love trying new sushi roles and this allowed us that opportunity, where we live we don t get sushi that often but love it and make a point to get it when we can. She goes and puts in the appetizer order. 5 minutes or so rolls by and she brings out the appetizers, and takes our meal order. (Still no drinks though) We eat our appetizers completely and sit for another 5 minutes or so and still no drinks. So I caught another waitress and asked if she could have ours bring our drinks. The OTHER server promptly brings them out to us......so we sit for a little while and visit (our waitress still nowhere in sight). I finish my tea and need some more, so I asked the other server once again if she could have ours come and get us refills. Our server finally comes out to get my glass to refill it. (Very rudely I might add, like doing her job was a bother to her!) When she returns she says our food will be out momentarily, this was roughly 8:35ish. A gentleman comes and sits at the table next to us (I ll explain this importance in a moment). We sit and wait for a little while longer, visit, and just enjoy the atmosphere. 9pm rolls around and I m starting to get frustrated mainly because our waitress hasn t checked on us at all since refilling our drinks! At 9:05 the gentleman that showed up well after us gets his food brought out to him (sushi by the piece just like our order). I asked his server to get the manager. Manager comes out, we fill him in on what has happened and he says he will check on it and get our food out to us as soon as possible. He also says he will make this right before we leave. Not even 2 minutes later our server brings our food out, no apology or anything. We start eating and the sushi is warm like it had been sitting! My avocado on some of the sushi was even browning. The manager comes out and asks how everything is and I inform him about the food tasting like it had been sitting for a while. Again he informs us that he will take care of this and we had nothing to worry about. We finish eating and ask for our check. So here comes the manager and our server. He tells us he can give us a free dessert for the troubles we had this evening. My husband and I looked at each other and both told him no thanks just give us our check so we can leave! Our bill was $100.43 for the two of us! After we had left is when I noticed she never took off the charge for the regular edamame which was $3.50. All be it yea it s only $3.50 but after everything it added insult to the situation! And you can use the excuse of oh they were busy or whatever but in reality they had roughly 10 tables inside and 3 outside....if that s so busy they can t keep up with orders then how are they even still in business?! I am not one to usually post reviews about restaurants, but this made me absolutely infuriated and frustrated! I just wanted a nice, peaceful dinner with my husband on our babymoon vacation, but apparently that was asking too much! Edit 6/12: The owner of this restaurant reached out to us personally apologizing for the situation that occurred. He took action to ensure that we had a better take away experience than we did last night. His care for customer satisfaction is exceptional!

We had a good time at skybar at dinner last night. We enjoyed the vegetable spring rolls, spicy edamame, vegetarian special and vegetarian rolls. The spring rolls were only 3 pieces per order, wish it was 4. The vegetarian special tasted very good, but wish there was a bit more sauce than provided - the rice could get a little dry. I loved the vegetarian rolls - they were really yummy. A special mention to the spicy mayo - it was delicious. All in all a good experience

Our server David was very attentive & polite. Coming from DFW- the sushi here was so fresh & amazing. My husband and I have gotten food from here about 7 times now!! We always get the same thing and it is ALWAYS on point!!! It s constantly amazing!! Shrimp fried rice, so much food and so good!! We were looking for something other than fried seafood so we decided to give this place a try. Our server was really sweet and was very attentive. She explained their happy hour specials and help expedite our daughters fried rice order because she was so hungry. My husband and I ordered the Danny roll and the Tiki Island Roll. They were ok. Nothing great. It did take some time to get our order. We noticed that people who ordered after us got there order before us. That was annoying especially since they ordered much more than we did.

I dont normally leave reviews, but this place was amazing. From the moment we arrived, the hostess (she should be a server!) De Shayna made us feel so welcome, with warmth, professionalism, and outstanding hospitality. Then, the server David was so friendly, helpful, and made our visit so pleasant. We went here for my daughters birthday, and he even brought her a complimentary fried iced cream with chocolate sauce and whipped cream for dessert! The drinks and food were sublime.
