Such a disappointment, they put is in the part of the hotel under construction, room service was slow and they left plates and food outside until next day. I left a dress behind and the front office was really rude about it and said nothing was left and they didn t need to check with cleaning. It was upsetting because we came with our kids for a long weekend and we had really high expectations. Left me feeling sad. PS, sure we will see you again soon when you give us a weekend stay on the hotel to make up for terrible stay.

Absolutely love this hotel. Highly recommend when in the area. The tall ceilings make this small room feel larger. Lovely room. Beds are comfortable. Shower was a nice size with shampoo and conditioner. We stayed prior to sailing on the new Carnival Jubilee for New Years cruise.

Our stay was wonderful. Beautiful room, quiet location, comfy bedding, cold AC, nice television, great room service options at reasonable prices, 12pm checkout. A great area to walk around, close to clubs, restaurants and the Strand. Rooms: Nicely appointed rooms with nice bedding and beautiful bathrooms Nearby activities: The Strand, restaurants, boat tours, rental bikes, rental carts, theater, nightlife, shopping Walkability: Easy to get around to nearby spots on foot, very walkable though the beach is not within walking distance (not for this old lady anyway). Food and drinks: Great bars within the hotel also restaurants and room service.

The Tremont House is a very pretty hotel and it is located conveniently to the historic district. The bar downstairs is lovely and they produce very good cocktails. The rooms are nice but the lavatory area in the bathroom is way too small for convenience. I was also told the rooftop bar would be closed, but not that the pool was also closed. Rooms: Rooms adequate size Nearby activities: The Strand and cruise terminals are very close Safety: Full time staff and keys required for entry after dark Walkability: Very walkable area Food and drinks: Lots of restaurants and bar in the vicinity Noteworthy details: The hotel and lobby are very nicely done

We came a day early for a cruise so we could look around my husbands home town of Galveston. Tremont House was a fantastic base to launch our exploration, due to its location and amenities. The room was large and beautiful, the bed was so comfortable, but best of all was the amazing staff! Everyone, from the doorman to the front desk staff was so friendly! We especially enjoyed Jennifer (such beautiful curly hair!), who was so warm and welcoming that it felt like we were old friends! If you get a chance, stay here!

My wife and I stayed here last year for our wedding night, and it was amazing. Stayed here the night before a cruise. Were upgraded to a penthouse suite, but didnt like it as much as our previous room. Room service is amazing, and its convenient for cruise parking. The only downside is the upgrade didnt feel like an upgrade Rooms: Nice rooms with tall ceilings. The tv in both bedroom and living area come in and our and lose sound frequently. Its very annoying Walkability: Close distance to the strand. A CVS within walking distance as well Noteworthy details: Park and cruise is worth the money

This is a Beautiful Property! Now let me first be brutally honest, their check in process has gone down hill and needs to be addressed by management. Hotel Guests should never wait hours past check in for a room to be ready .this causes unneeded stress towards the guests and does not live up to the Tremont Name. I don t feel as a guest on vacation I should be negotiating with the front desk to find my parents a room when we have a reservation. Also please start acknowledging Marriott Status. Individuals work hard for Status and this should be a priority of the staff to acknowledge and appreciate Brand Loyalty. I m choosing to still give 5 Stars due to the amazing history of this property and its beautiful decor. I also want to give recognition to an absolutely excellent Bartender named Garrett. I have been visiting this property for years and this gentleman has always impressed me with his level of professionalism.

I was a bit hesitant to spend the money on this hotel but a glad we did. It is literally walking distance to the port for Royal Caribbean ship lines. The staff is one of the best I have ever had at a hotel. They make you feel extremely welcome while you are staying with them. I would pay $600 for one night at this particular hotel. Everything about it is class. Thank you!! Rooms: Spaciousness and luxurious Walkability: Everything you need within 5 minutes of walking

Unfortunately this review is more about the valet parking than the hotel. Beware I had an expensive item stolen from my vehicle on the valet s watch. I cannot say if they stole it or left my vehicle unlocked because there was no forced entry. The valet did file a claim and the supervisor was supposed to call me. Still waiting on that call. As for the hotel it s nice and historic, shower is terrible on pressure and the water temperature was lukewarm at best. For over $400 a night I expected much better. If you stay here take anything valuable out of the vehicle. Update the valet did finally call me. Waiting on a resolution if any. They did say it was a lengthy process. Update After my initial call with the valet I have not heard back with any resolution or update.

Lovely classic and elegant hotel walkable to the Port of Galveston for all but Royal Caribbean Cruise Line ships. Style of the hotel is lavish and original with updates to make it comfortable for todays needs. Bed was very comfortable, room temperature was spot on, bathroom had all needed amenities, restaurant on site had a good variety at a reasonable cost. Hotel staff were helpful and polite. Rooms: Clean, bright, well apported and comfy in all ways. Safety: Hotel was in a good district in town and the valet and reception staff had to be passed when entering hotel so safety would not be an issue. Walkability: All of downtown classic Galveston is walkable from here. The beach is a bit further since its closest to the port terminals which dont have beach. Food and drinks: Hotel had an on site restaurant and bar, albeit the restaurant wasnt a full service it did provide decent meals. Noteworthy details: You can walk from the hotel to the Port of Galveston in a matter of minutes unless you are traveling on Royal Caribbean Cruise Line since their new terminal is a good distance away if you have luggage, which its a cruise so of course youll have luggage! Recommend either the hotel shuttle or an Uber, we chose Uber and it was cheap and fast.

This past weekend, my wife and I celebrated our anniversary at The Tremont House, a Marriott property located in Galvestons Strand District on Mechanic Row. This hotel boasts a prime location within walking distance of dining options, bars, and shops. The rooms were well-appointed with high ceilings, creating a spacious and comfortable environment. Our favorite spot was The Henry Toujouse Bar. I highly recommend trying The Great 1900 and The Tremont Old Fashioned. My wife loved the Girl Named Violet; their house-infused gin made it exceptional. The hotel also features a small restaurant called Blum and Co., which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. While we didn t have any meals there, we appreciated starting our day with Starbucks coffee available on-site. The only disappointment was that the well-known rooftop bar was under renovation during our stay. Despite this, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Tremont House and would highly recommend it to others.

Favorite place in Galveston to start my trip. Every time I come to Galveston, I start at The Tremont House with a drink, or two, listening and dancing to Mel and Leah jazz duo. Each time I come, I need to stop in and say hi and make a plan to duck out and go do something else and every time I end up staying and closing out when the music stops! Love this place!

I have stayed in Galveston many times, but this was my first stay on the Strand. This historic hotel is lovely and the staff is wonderful. The bar had great drinks and great service. Our room was quiet and beautiful with big fluffy towels. I would definitely stay here again. There are so many terrific restaurants within walking distance nearby and it is an easy drive to the Seawall. Definitely valet park. Parking in this area is a nightmare, but valet makes it super easy and convenient. Many thanks for the wonderful staff for making our stay so comfortable and enjoyable.

After telling us a shuttle would be there soon, they left us sitting in the heat at the cruise terminal for an hour and my mother (in her 60s) fainted from the heat and required medics. NO one at the hotel would answer the phones and give us updates on the shuttle location. They use an automated system that prevents you from talking to a human being for several minutes, when I spoke to a human, they said they only dealt with reservations and could not help me with a shuttle or transfer me. They actually just suggested we try the website. When the shuttle finally arrived, there were not enough seats for our group and the driver actually asked if he could take another group somewhere first and unload their luggage before taking my mother back to the hotel when she needed medical attention. The driver did end up taking us back first after we were assertive.

I recently stayed at the Tremont House, and I m disappointed with the service I recieved. My biggest issue is that my car got broken into during my stay. I never touched my car the entire time I was there. The lock on the handle was completely broken off, and valet broke my key trying to get into my car. I had to call a family member to give me a spare key to drive home. I was promised by valet that my car damages would be paid for. They filed an insurance claim and told me it would take 4-6 business days to hear back, but it took about three weeks to process. The claims department then said that my car would not be paid for and I had to handle it on my own with my insurance. I was lied to by the valet manager, and my car is still broken. Additionally, my room was in poor shape. There was a leak coming from the bathroom ceiling which was brown and smelled bad. My iron was also broken, as the cord was exposed and water kept leaking out of the iron. Both of these issues are huge safety concerns. Overall, I am unsatisfied with my stay at the Tremont House, and I would not recommend staying here if you care about your own property. Safety: Located in an unsafe area, as my car (and others in valet) got broken into during my stay.

Solid overall stay. Would stay here again if in the area. Staff was extremely friendly - front desk, valet and bar staff. No proactive acknowledgment of Platinum status by the front desk staff but upon asking if they had any upgrades, they did accommodate with a Junior Suite for one of our rooms. The bar staff was very friendly in our lone interaction with them, suggesting virgin versions of drinks for our kiddos. The non upgraded room was pretty dark - one tiny window that looked at the inside of the hotel - but otherwise fine. Cleaning staff were prompt each morning in their service for the rooms. Location was right in the heart of downtown / shopping area. On the downsides - bfast menu is limited, valet parking pricing was absurdly high, and there was a potential hazard in the elevator that wasn t addressed (floor tiles broken and missing - see photo).

The staff went above and beyond, ensuring we felt welcomed and taken care of throughout our stay. The convenience of having all our family in one location, coupled with easy access to The Strand, made our event seamless. My husband and I were so impressed that we plan to stay at The Tremont on our next visit to the island. This hotel truly made our special weekend even more memorable! We didn t ask for room to be cleaned just fresh towels and an extra blanket. The first day it was after 4:30 the young lady seemed frustrated. The second day I was brought 1 towel when told needed 4 was then brought 4 hand towels. We were in the quarters which has amazing space. The building is old and you hear a lot of noise from floors above. The restraunt colder was fantastic. The workers were on their phones seemed distracted and breakfast ( eggs) were cold. We will continue to stay at Tremont because we do love the quaint charm but hope this was an isolated incident.

Rooms: We had a king room that was spacious enough. The pillows and mattress were great. Although we were right next to the elevator in room 201 we did not hear the elevator not one time it was very quiet very peaceful room. Nearby activities: There were lots of nearby activities to enjoy. There was shopping and dining and lots of things to do in a very close proximity to the hotel. Safety: My wife and I felt very safe and secure both inside the hotel and while walking on the streets theres lots of people around and theres a frequent presence of law enforcement. Walkability: Most of the interesting locations in the strand were very walkable from the hotel Food and drinks: The food in the hotel was outstanding chef April and server Garrett and others made our state very pleasurable and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. Noteworthy details: If you are going to drive your vehicle around the strand and are going to park on the street, please be aware that although there are no parking meters you still have to pay to park. There are parking meter stations at the corners of three or four blocks in the strand area. I made the mistake of not purchasing a parking permit and it cost me $30 anyway.

This was a family trip for a few days to Galveston over spring break. Location was chosen due to easy walking distance to shops and restaurants making it super convenient. We booked a Tremont Jr. Suite with 2 queens. It was located at the front of the hotel overlooking the street. Room was very spacious and the tall ceilings even added more to the feeling of roominess. We also had a couch/sitting area. The room had a mini-fridge. Bathroom had a tub/shower combo. Water pressure wasnt that great, but nothing that detracted from the room itself. There was a nice closet for hanging up clothes and storing suitcases. Rooms come with a refillable water bottle for using at the refilling stations. One thing that could be added to the rooms is a suitcase holder. We utilized the Toujouse Bar each day. The drink menu was nice and the drinks well crafted. We also had a few snacks while there, which our daughter enjoyed. The bar staff also made shirley temples for our daughter and she enjoyed the attention. The hotel is beautifully renovated with character of the past yet plenty of modern style. Very clean. Manager was very visible the entire time and filling in to serve guests as needed along with the servers. Rooms: Spacious and beautifully renovated. It was a busy week in Galveston and lots of folks staying at the hotel; however, it was always quiet inside our room and we never had trouble finding a table or place to chill. Walkability: Located one block from the Strand with tons of shopping and eating. Food and drinks: Great drink menu at Toujouse. The rooftop bar was still under renovations so we did not get a chance to try that out. The on-site restaurant, Blum, was good as well. We had breakfast each day and also enjoyed snacks in the afternoon while at the bar.

Hotel is nothing short of a dumpster fire. First and last visit. Currently a guest. From the moment I attempted to check in, it was clear that the staff here cares nothing for its customer base nor its Marriott elite members. Check-in staff is rude, the rooms are tiny, the hotel smells musty, and the management is ambivalent to any and all customer service issues. In addition to a miserable experience from the very beginning, I booked a spot on the 9am shuttle, only to be told 30 min later that it was mysteriously full. Apparently, someone else complained they needed the slot and we were kicked off. Unprofessional and unacceptable! Beware of staying here. Avoid if you can. (To management-rest assured, I will note these issues to Marriott immediately)

(Even though its supposed to cover up to a 7 day cruise) Also, they charge $15 per person to ride a shuttle 2 blocks to the port. NO ONE TOLD US EITHER ONE OF THESE THINGS and we certainly did not sign anything agreeing to this. We booked the most expensive hotel in Galveston only to feel like they nickel and dime you. $300 for one night in a hotel + $145 for parking + $30 for a 2 block shuttle ride is CRAZY.

Since Marriott took over, standards have slipped. Still character-full building and good location. Roof top closed for renovations (during Mardi Gras?). Very poor breakfast with limited menu, no vegetables in sight, and all items out of the generic food factory, nothing seems to be actually cooked on site.

We even asked them 3 times how much longer and they kept saying the car was coming, but turned out it wasn t. I m not sure we will stay here again. For the amount we paid for the hotel room we excepted better service.

Such a lovely hotel in a great location. However, our room was AWFUL. The wall behind the headboard was up against the elevator shaft! Every time anyone used that elevator we heard a HORRIBLE rumbling sound like a freight train was going past our room. No one should EVER be given that room unless the hotel was full (it wasnt) and then only at a steep discount after full disclosure. We were only there one night otherwise I wouldve asked to move. We didnt realize the problem until we were in our PJs ready to sleep. I told the desk clerk when I checked out and she was apologetic but that doesnt get my nights sleep back.

We had a dinner and a breakfast. Menu is simple, food is high quality and very well prepared. The staff is friendly and efficient. Rooms: A lot of space, clean. Nearby activities: In the Strand and next to the cruise terminals. Food and drinks: Complete bar. Cocktail is worth the money, they contain more alcohol or less mixer than other place. Here we go. The wife and I stayed here pre cruise. Great location in the middle of the historic district. Everything is within walking distance. Beautiful trim work throughout the room. The vaulted ceiling is a massive plus. The bed is at the perfect height if you are around 63 nice little bourbon selection at the bar to go with respectable pours. The staff is super friendly. ONLY Negative is if you are staying on the alley side on Thursday at 4am its trash day or grease trap cleaning day or the end of the world because its loud.

Room is old and dated 70 s style furniture lamp shade all crusty if they are going to place people in that building they should say a time of reservation the web site shows a beautiful hotel then your placed in an old building with some updates really misleading. Absolutely amazing. My wife and I got married the end of February, we stayed in the Tremont House February 24 to catch a cruise ship the 25th. We had a suite on the top floor. The suite was huge. When we got to our room, the staff had put a plate of chocolate covered strawberries on the table for us. Because we had to catch a ship the next day, I loved that we werent very far from the cruise terminal. We woke up the next day, went downstairs to check out and wait for the shuttle. After waiting for a bit, a woman who was behind the front desk came over to tell us the shuttle forgot us, but they were bringing around the super nice hotel Cadillac Escalade. After the driver loaded our bags in the back, he drove us RIGHT to where we needed to be. I was super impressed with everything. We got V.I.P service to the cruise ship without paying or asking for it, it was amazing. So we tipped the driver and made it in plenty of time. I love the Tremont House.

I mostly stay at Marriott properties. This is by far one of my favorite hotels. Beautiful hotel with rooms to match. I really loved the high ceilings with windows to match. Very clean hotel. The decor was great and fit so well with the building. The rooftop bar was under renovation, so I was not able to experience that area. The AC unit worked great, but the weather was cool, so Im not 100% sure if it was the AC or the weather. By far, some of the best staff I have the pleasure to interact with. The valet was quick and friendly. Very helpful, too. As soon as we walked in, the front desk was meeting us at the bottom of the stairs and helping us with our bags. They quickly checked us in, gave us some helpful insight into the area, and wanted to help us to our room. This sort of service continued during our short stay, which added to our experience. I highly recommend this hotel solely based on the staff. The hotel itself is an added bonus.

Stayed overnight at this beautiful, historic yet modern and chic hotel in the Marriot Bonvoy Tribute Portfolio. Located in Galvestons Strand District, Tremont House is within easy walking distance to numerous shops and eateries. Departed on a cruise the next day and took advantage of the Stay and Park arrangement. Jorge, a valet with excellent attention to customer service, saw to it that my SUV was parked indoors for the week of the cruise (he moved it himself when he realized Id be gone a week). After breakfast the next morning, when I went curbside for the hotel shuttle, the luggage had already been loaded and I was whisked away to the awaiting cruise ship. Upon return, the shuttle was just a phone call away and dropped me off where I started with my vehicle awaiting me. I will definitely be staying at The Tremont House again! (By the way, their restaurant was terrific for breakfast on the morning of departure with some nice choices for a quick bite the evening before).

Love the Tremont, I love the bar and loved listening to the music, however they moved the piano near the bathroom, and got rid of the musicians playing the music who we loved listening to and drinking some wine and relaxing. So whoever made this decision it was a stupid move on their part because so many people enjoyed relaxing and listening to the music and then again who puts a Piano near the restrooms what an idiot, sorry for speaking the truth. We still enjoy going there several times a month just to relax and have a drink are two but now we go to the Hotel Galvez and San Louis for music and drinks, so hopefully you bring back the music on the weekend and move the Piano in a better location no one wants to see people coming out of the restrooms while listening to music and drinking.

I stayed in one of the suite rooms. The noise in the room was unbearable. The staff did not know if it was from the noise outside or the noise from the icemaker in the small room next door to my room. I actually had to turn the volume up on the television to sleep to drown out the noise. I informed the manager on duty about the issue. She moved me to another suite on the first floor. Again, the noise was very loud. I came to the conclusion that the noise must be coming from the AC unit. I would not recommend staying at this hotel. It is not worth the money.

This was our first time in Galveston and we loved staying at The Tremont House! Right when we pulled up, Ernesto helped us with our belongings and waited for us to check in to take our things to our room. Once in our room, we appreciated his kindness and gentleness with handling our belongs. He also helped us at check out and was the same when we left! We ran into an issue when checking in (system went down) but the gentleman at the front (tall and wears glasses) was very kind and gave us complimentary drink vouchers as we waited for the system to operate again. The bar area was so pretty and the service was amazing! The service at the cafe was amazing as well. Thats where we had breakfast during our stay. Whenever we had questions Amy, Eddie, and Ceaca were all so kind to help us with answers. We appreciated their hospitality and made us feel like we were at home. The hotel itself is so beautiful. The rooms are very clean and there s an aroma of a luxurious scent wherever you walk in the hotel. I would definitely recommend staying here for your next stay! Food and drinks: So good!! You will not have a bad meal or drink there. Noteworthy details: The rooms do not have a microwave so if you have any leftovers, you will not be able to warm it up.

This beautiful, well-maintained historic hotel was the perfect send-off to our cruise. The lounge was a step back in time and the drinks were delicious! Best chocolate martini s around, was the advice from the two local ladies. We ordered 2 and agree, very tasty! We had Ernesto open our door, assisted with luggage and delivered to our suite while we lounged around the bar. Brooklyn greeted us at the counter and made sure to call us as soon as our room was ready, always with a smile! We are checking out today, but I am sure everything will go smoothly. You definitely feel like someone special here at The Tremont House. Thank you all, like I said, just a perfect little send off before our vacation. Much appreciated! Nearby activities: We ventured into a few shops, found some cute stuff in The Style Boutique. Walkability: Loved walking around the streets, but make sure you are in comfy shoes, as the sidewalks are old and have dips ans slants to them. Also some of the curbs can be quite steep. Food and drinks: Had a lovely dinner at The Coastal Grill, the seafood was delicious and the oysters and crawfish were fried to perfection. Definitely a must eat!

This beautiful historic hotel has retained its magic and grace through a change in ownership and a complete remodel! I have been staying here frequently since 2006 with a break due to the pandemic. I just returned for my first visit since the remodel. I was apprehensive as I loved this hotel so much in the past and was wary of all the changes. I shouldn t have worried! The Tremont House is still magical, and the new mirrors in the rooms are so beautiful. As someone who loves Galveston and its history I was happy to see the hotel look beautiful while paying homage to the 1920s. Special thanks to Natalie at the front desk. She assisted me with booking, gave me special recommendations, and went the extra mile to make us feel at home. She is very knowledgeable about Island history and loves the hotel! When people love their work place as much as Natalie loves the Tremont House it really makes the world more beautiful! Favorite things: the history, the mirrors, the cocktails (and Garrett at the bar was a delight too), the tall ceilings, the color of the walls and draperies, the location (if you know, you know), the shower (there s a textured surface under your feet that is such a nice touch). What I would improve: Please add oatmeal to the breakfast menu. Eggs Benny were delicious but when staying in nice hotels I always want oatmeal too. I m sure I m not the only one!

The one downfall is the rooms aren t insulated, therefore calls for outside (hallway and exterior) noise pollution and doesn t allow for a relaxing evening. Our room was above the valet that had music bumping until 10pm. We asked the front desk if the music could be turned down but was told around 10 or 11pm. Bummer. Otherwise great stay.
