This restaurant was amazing!! So many choices to eat here!! I really wanted a virgin bloody mary & the waiter made me one! I asked for a water with a ton of lemons I got that! The hangover burger was delicious!! So much flavor the meat was perfectly seasoned. The tomatoes had fresh taste. Everyone enjoyed their meal! Our service was amazing, the bathrooms were nice, clean & the restaurant was good busy.

(edit: dear whomever posted the reply to my review...I cant reply to your post. To answer your questions: you would have seen, if you had read thoroughly, that I did want to complain and send the food back, but I love my teen enough not to embarrass them when they ask me not to.) l Food is bad (except brownies are delicious!). Worst gumbo in my 50 years of eating it everywhere. Why does it taste like bbq sauce? No amount of tobacco helped. Barely ate any. Coconut shrimp... Didnt peel it first. Bad frying oil, no coconut flavor...the Asian veggies were covered in a terrible mostly soy sauce? Barely ate any. The queso was bland. It was everything I could do not to send our overpriced food back (because my easily embarrassed teen was there). I will say the service was good (Logan is great server and he did ask about my food and I didnt tell him my complaints) and patio atmosphere fun, family and dog friendly, great spot to people-watch and soak up the weekend Strand vibes. There was a Disney movie playing on a inflatable projector screen next to us on the patio. I would go again and just get a burger maybe... Bill for two people (2 apps, 1 cup soup, 1 entree, one dessert, no drinks) was $60 without tip. Still left happy.

Been twice now. Had the quinoa bowl once, very tasty. And more recently the strawberry cider salad, without the blue cheese as Im dairy allergic. Both were fresh and delicious. Want to try the junk a moo chicken salad still...next time. Its really nice to find a place that has several healthy options and particularly items to pick from without eggs and milk as Im allergic to both. Thank you! Highly recommend Dietary restrictions: Staff have been very helpful and no issues with adjusting menu items to accommodate my allergies. Lucky me I have both of the most common us allergens, eggs and Dairy.

Yagas Cafe: For those who like to gamble with their experience. Ill start off by saying that I had 2 dine-ins with waiters that I still remember today, even months after: Landon and Sierra. Both were attentive, quick to check up on our parties, and my party even had a bit to chat with them. (Added bonus: You get to watch Astros games with no charge.) Now strap in, because its not getting any better from here. Food: Its either incorrectly prepared, tiny portions, and regarding the wings, theyre usually small and with little meat. Service: Youre coin-flipping between decent and non-existant. Extras: Bathrooms are tiny, cramped, and dont have many spots open. Outdoor dining is offered, but the fly problem is not worth it. TL;DR: The definition of fumbled the bag. You were a great restaurant, but I cant stray from being honest.

I recently visited Yagas Café in downtown Galveston, Texas, and had a fantastic experience. The ambiance was great, and we had a perfect spot to people-watch from our table. At one point, a guy even walked by with a snake around his shoulders quite the sight! The food was absolutely delicious, and I have to give a special mention to the Dirty Monkey frozen drink it was amazing! The servers were really sweet and provided excellent service throughout our visit. If you find yourself in the Galveston area, I highly recommend stopping by Yagas Café. Its a wonderful place to relax, enjoy great food and drinks, and take in the local scene.

Aaron was our waiter. He tried doing the remember what they order without writing it down thing but forgot EVERYTHING. Our drinks from the bar was never rung in, and he was the bartender. So I had to remind him after 6 mins of watching him flip his towel around. Then I had asked for my salad prior to my meal, he totally spaced it off so when it came with my meal, I canceled it. Then my husband cant have mayo, so he had ordered his salmon sandwich without the aioli. It came fully slopped with it So we sent it back to be remade. They forgot. We got there at 722pm, food came by 745, but by 855pm we ended up canceling the salmon all together so we could try to get back up to the seawall in time to see the fireworks. This was not achieved. Had they just written down the order it would have been made right and we would have all eaten and out the door by 815/830 with plenty of time to get to the seawall and enjoy the whole purpose of our vacation, the 4th of July fireworks over the ocean that weve never experienced. THANKS FOR DOUBLING DOWN THAT WE WERENT GOING TO ENJOY OUR HOLIDAY IN GALVESTON THAT WE HAD BEEN PLANNING FOR THE PAST YEAR. BRAVO!!!

The atmosphere was fantastic. Its a quaint cafe with an outside patio to sit at. We stayed inside because it was so hot. Our waitress was so sweet (I cant remember her name! Maybe Sophia? Ling dark hair, khaki cargos, kind of a quieter voice) and quick to get refills and our orders in. The crawfish croquettes were phenomenal; full of flavor and the perfect texture. My husband had the Death Burger and I had the Baja tacos (blackened fish) - the burger was incredible; intense flavor (in a good way), juicy and you didnt get a bad bite. My baja tacos were fabulous - such a refreshing, party-in-your-mouth flavor and the rice + beans on the side were delicious. Highly recommend visiting this joint if youre ever in the Galveston area!

The employees here need to be educated. I came in and was brought to a table. The employee noticed that the floor was filthy with spills and trash. They took a rag and cleaned up the floor with it. They then proceeded to wash my table with the rag that they just used on the floor. I was appalled and told them they couldnt do that and to get a fresh rag for washing the table. They did so. I shouldnt have had to tell them that. After that, I requested my food to go. They got my order right. It tasted good.

We were in Galveston for a reunion of my submarine crew from many years ago. After we had toured the USS Seawolf museum, we met for lunch at Yagas. It had all been arranged. We met out on the patio. There was no wait. The wait staff were excellent. The place was clean and very nice. I had a Cuban sandwich, which was good but not amazing. Another of my friends had a death burger, which was very large and reportedly pretty good, but not amazing. My third friend had a poboy shrimp sandwich. He apparently considers himself a connoisseur of these, so when he told me it wasnt very good, I figured he just had high standards. It looked pretty good. We counted 15 shrimp. He left a few of the shrimp and I tried one. It was remarkably lousy. Not fresh. Left a bad taste in my mouth (which I had to try to wash away with extra beer). I hate to give a particular bad review just because of one unfortunate dish. It seems possible they just got in a bad batch of shrimp. Nonetheless, to get bad shrimp in Galveston Texas is maybe a little extra disappointing. Most people enjoyed their meals, as far as I could tell.

We were able to bring our dogs to the patio and tie them up against a fence while we ate. Food took about 20 mins to come out but the portions were wonderful! My husband got the fish tacos which were the biggest fish tacos we ve had, and I got a chicken sandwich which was amazing. My family and I ate here two nights in a row during Spring Break. The first night we ordered a large pizza and were given a small. We had issues getting the price corrected when the final bill came and they made it seem like they were doing us a favor by refunding some of the overcharged difference off the bill. The following day we went again for happy hour drinks and dinner after seeing the excellent prices on the sandwich board displayed on the sidewalk out front. $7 for a Premium pitcher of beer! I asked our waitress what beers were included and she said she would check with the bartender. 10 minutes later she came back and said the only beers in draft were Bud light $10 and Tiki Wheat for $20. I asked what happened to the $7 pitchers and she had no answer. I then asked what ultra premium bottles they had for the $2.50 special. Once again she had no idea so I went inside and asked the bartender. He said no beers were $2.50 and any premium ones were $3.50+. I asked him why it was listed on the board out front as a different price and was told I guess it s wrong . So they knowingly put false pricing outside to get travelers in from cruises and spring break and change the prices inside. I ve been coming here for 30+ years and this is bad business. Do better.

I love yagas, but the prices have gotten outrageous. $12 for one bowl of award winning chili (that they award themselves, by the way.) is robbery. It used to be $7 and now it s nearly twice the price. I get inflation, but it hasn t risen that much to warrant this level of a price increase on A BOWL OF SOUP essentially. Other people like to visit yagas besides tourists that have made their peace with getting price gauged. Who can afford that? That s a whole entree at most other establishments give or take a dollar or two. It s so disappointing for the locals that are barely making it by and just want something quick to eat before work. I hope their menu gets reevaluated soon because I won t be eating there until it s reasonable again. $10 for chips and a little cup of queso (not a bowl) is ridiculous. There s no reason to charge that much for something so small.

Had a decent amount of GF options marked on the menu. Went there for dinner with a party of 6. My $20 chipotle salmon (market price) was only warm, couldnt taste the chipotle, and salmon was not flavorful. Could barely taste the mango. Not worth it (GF) unless you are desperate. Perhaps salads are better? Everyone else enjoyed their glutenous food. I avoided the chips because of what others here mentioned about cross contamination, but did not verify. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free

Very good chips and queso. Also had the chicken quesadilla from the appetizers part. It was huge. But very good. The staff were all very attentive and timely. The decor was super interesting and could see the courtyard area with the lighted tree. Have indoor and outdoor seating. Will definitely go again.

Food arrived and was not hot out of the oven, Mashed potatoes with cheese were cool and cheese was already hardened, so disappointed it wasnt a warm meal. Not sure if this was a one off as havent had that experience in the past. Server was excellent with recommendations and very engaging.

Popped in for Brunch on a Saturday. Asked for a nice shady table outside, and got exactly that. Food isnt super special - its what you would expect - but its also good, if that makes sense. Biscuits and sausage gravy was just right, and my partners apple bacon waffles were also excellent. At least at brunch, the drinks were very fairly priced. Cant comment on the rest of the menu. What made it though, was Katelyn our server. She was cheerful and had a genuine smile for us. This created a very human and friendly atmosphere, and thats what will bring us back again! Nicely done, Yagas.

We tried this place out. Everything on the menu sounded so good. We chose the jalapenos for appetizers and those were amazing. So it was a bit of a let down that the Baja fish tacos were not our favorite and my moms sea food flautas werent her favorite. Im not a huge sea food lover that being said I have had Baja fish tacos from plenty of places. But I did want to say that our server did everything to help us and removed my plate from the bill. ( I didnt ask) I never speak up but I was bummed we didnt eat. My daughter enjoyed her pizza so we shared it and that was great. Because the service was great, I plan on going back when I can for something non seafood. Again, everything sounded so good I plan to try something else.

We went to eat somewhere else and they sent us there because they were slammed during the Lone Star Rally. We were so glad, we loved it it was great they sat us outside while the band was playing, every one was in a great mood, food was awesome, and of course the atmosphere was fabulous . I did say it was during the LSR and the wait staff seemed like they were unphased, they were spectacular!!!! We will return of course before next year.

Excellent customer service! After having a bad experience with one of the neighboring restaurants, this one took care of us. The server who I believe her name was Savannah was very nice and quickly sat us down and took our order. She made really good drinks as she was the bartender as-well and the food was very tasty! I recommend this place 100%. We tried the Cuban panini, wings , pizza and the chicken pepperoni pasta. So delicious

Stopped by for brunch on a Saturday. I tried the gumbo, hash, salmon, and deviled eggs and all were excellent. Presentation and flavors were on point. Prices are very reasonable. Only $5 for mimosas during weekend brunch. Not the most upscale nor the quickest but I thought the food and service were overall both good.

My bridal party and I went here for brunch on 8/5 and the food was subpar. It took around 30 minutes for our drinks to get delivered to our table. The server was very apologetic and nice the entire time but the manger never came by to apologize. As for the food it was just okay, Ive had better. The restaurant itself was pretty packed but we were stuck on the top floor tucked in the corner so we didnt really get to enjoy the ambience.

During our dinner last night we saw not one, not two, but three roaches while waiting for our food. That will really make you lose your appetite! We let the manager know to make sure he was aware they have a problem. His reply was Appreciate you! We just sprayed so they come out. No apology or anything more. We paid for our entire meal that no one really ate as it really didnt even sound appetizing anymore. The gumbo was not good. If you know good authentic gumbo this doesnt compare. Super disappointing visit. Would never return...
