Try using real cheese in your chips and cheese dip instead of generic velveeta and packaged powdery filler. Tastes gross! First time there and we were sadly disappointed. You get one chance to make an impression and you fell way short. It took way too long for the kitchen to fix it and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The guy who brought it out couldnt have walked slower. Too many other choices of eateries downtown to put up with this bs.

Cool vibe, clean, good music, tasty simple food. Lousy service. You would do more business if you could keep your bartender s / staff off their cell phones. They are clueless to the people ready to order and/or re-order. For men only... the stand up urinal feels like your six inches away from the sink (no partition. Feels like you re relieving yourself and washing hands in the same porcelain). Awkward for both parties.

By far the best burger I have had in long while! The onion rings were ok cant quite describe what it was missing. My daugter had nachos and she said they were good. The big positive of the place was the location and the music. You place your order at the counter and then you find your seating indoor or outside. There is a full bar and there are games you can partake in. We did not play any due to the variety of things to do. This place is in located in the histiric Strand area. Very cool buildings and shops. Beach is also close by.

The burgers are flavorful and similar to what you d find at a casual patio eatery. The mac and cheese side, which cost $6, was very disappointing. I would have expected any establishment to not serve what is almost Kraft macaroni at such a high up charge. I discourage anyone from ordering it. In general there is no service here, and it s counter order only. I think you ll have better options in the neighborhood. My friends ordered nachos which were of mediocre quality the cheese was more like what you d get at a concession stand than a quality queso you d find at any Tex Mex restaurant in Texas.

The Playground Patio Bar & Grill is on one the street corners along The Strand. Fun atmosphere with fun music! Not a crazy, overly crowded spot. You can inside or outside. I ordered the pulled pork nachos which were amazing! Could have fed a family of 4! Great spot!

Did not order food for this visit but will in the future. Came on a random Tuesday night, Loki was the DJ host for the evening. That guy is awesome and really got the place jumping! There was a birthday party that was very well managed, and the staff were really quick to get your order and clean up trash.

Such a great location and fun look but the restaurant was very dirty, the Nachos were pretty horrible. Just stale chips canned cheese and chili with bagged lettuce. Margarita mix was from the soda dispenser and then just add booze. Very over priced considering across the street you bag get a good freshly made margarita for half the price. We dont plan on ever going back unless something drastic changes

My wife and I just happened upon this restaurant while walking on the strand, and we were pleasantly surprised by how absolutely delicious the burgers were! They were truly some of the best burgers we ve had, and they were seasoned extremely well (look at the picture). If you re in Galveston, definitely make this one of your stops!

This is the best burger place I ve ever been to! I m from DFW area so we have our pick of the litter when it comes to burger joints, but this one definitely exceeds all places I ve been to. I got the classic burger and took a bite. It didn t even need any condiments added! It was perfectly juicy and seasoned well! Came back twice while I was in town! Also, their fries where HECKA GOOD! We stopped here because it was 2 minutes from our cruise port. This spot had live music and a good way to kill some time and get food if youre waiting to board a cruise. It was odd not having a waiter and going to the counter to order the food but the food was pretty good. The place was well kept and looked nice. I would like to check it out at night. Definitely want to see how it gets at night.

This burger place and bar was a nice surprise. We were hungry and looking for burgers and good drinks. This place had exactly what we needed. With a great selection on the food and bar menu, our decision was easy. The staff were helpful with great customer service. We tried the frozen and on the rocks version of their margaritas and were not disappointed. The burgers were not wimpy in any ways and had great flavor. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. A little stage for live music and video games for entertainment options. Highlights were the burgers, fries and onion rings. Not one complaint from our table and even our picky kid ate everything. Sooo good and a great location.

What a fun place! Came in to get something to eat, and it was great idea! Music with a live show outside, great vibe, happy people, and sunshine will make anyone happy. Wow I had such an incredible time at this place! Sabrina was absolutely incredible to me. Not only did she make my drinks perfectly, but she also really cared and put in the effort to make my experience memorable. Great place to walk in off the Strand and get a bite to eat. I included a pic of the manager Donald because he was over the top kind and helpful talking to us about the Merch in their sister restaurant Shark Shack. Burgers and Hotdogs were on point, very tasty and satisfying. We had drinks that were awesome and refreshing! You can play Skeet Ball and games as well as listening to karaoke on certain days. Stopped into Playground Patio Bar on a Monday afternoon in April. It was fine. They advertise video games, but it was a single video game, a single skee ball machine and a basketball game. They were all $1 a play, which adds up quick. The fries were pretty good, but the hot dogs were really salty. Burgers were pretty good, but not amazing. In addition, the whole place felt ... sticky. Like, my shoes stuck to the floor and the whole place really smells of Sunday morning at the bar. I wouldnt be afraid to go there again, but I wouldnt seek it out either.

We walked in behind a group that had a service dog. Both the manager and owner refused to let the man with a service dog inside the restaurant Stating all dogs have to be outside, service dog or not. Becuse they have too many drunks bringing dogs inside. It was 90 degrees out. After talking to his family our group decided to eat elsewhere as well. Way to treat your customers.

UPDATE: the owner reached out to me today (Wednesday) and apologized profusely for my experience. Myself, my 4 young children, my friend and her husband plus their daughter are visiting Galveston for the first time. We decided to try this restaurant for dinner. My friend was in line before me and ordered without a problem. As soon as he signed his receipt I was ready with my order. The lady at the register looked at me and said kitchen is closed. We tried to tell her that we came all together and she said sorry it s closed so I was forced to take my 4 kids including my 2 year old around an area I d never been in walking. We got lost, they were hungry. By the time my friend got their food and met up with us we still hadn t found anywhere for me to feed the kids. We were being turned away left and right because of high occupancy at other places. Had to go back to the hotel with hungry kids. I m not one to leave a bad but this morning I m still very upset and embarrassed that happened. I looked on the website and it says on sundays the kitchen is open until 10pm. We were there between 7-8.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the atmosphere here. Came for Saturday lunch and there was live music. The guy singing knew a diversity of music and even took requests from the guests here. The bartender Chelsea was nice. I got the holy chipotle dog. It was good but i was a tad disappointed with chipotle mayo. I needed a little bit of spice to really make the hot dog be awesome. The wife loved her nachos and really enjoyed the fact that jalapenos were fresh. I definitely recommend sitting at the bar or patio for the best experience here.

Everyone deserves an off day, I visited today and had one of my worst restaurant experiences waiting much too long for food. The manager warned us after a while that they were behind. Our order was apparently on a whole different dimension in another galaxy. The staff did their best to accommodate us and apologized many a time. Things were made right and we left full and I do understand these are unprecedented times. Ownership should consider clearing house and starting fresh with Preston and the floor crew getting bumped up to servers/bartenders. Looks like a good place for a party. Beer selection was ok. The Fried Flonder Poboy was ok. The flounder tasted great, but it doesnt really work as a poboy. Cheese fries with chili and jalapeños was underwhelming. My buddy had the Classic Burger. Overcooked and felt like a lead weight in his stomach. The featured items are hot dogs. Awesome place to go and have a reasonable price to mail have a drink and sit out on the rail bar to people watch enjoy the sights. The inside is very eclectic and fun.

Happened upon The Playground on our way to her I ve Cream at LA Kings. Decided to do lunch first...glad we did. The Hebrew National Dogs are cooked perfectly. The buns are off the chain good! Oldest girl had the Mac and cheese dog,wife the Chipotle dog and I had the Chicco dog. Amazing dogs and did I mention the pretzel appetizer could be a meal! We will be back!

Awesome place. Food is delicious, especially Wings. Perfect place to celebrate Mardi Gras. Atmosphere is great.. right on the Strand. A must stop by place when in Galveston.
