You would think for $116, your food would be semi authentic and arrive in a timely manner. You d think they would lean into authenticity, however, it feels more like its pushed away. This is the most Chinese-American Japanese restaurant Ive been to. Deep-fried gyoza, no option for steamed, our meals looked like take-out. Saki selection was small with a huge up-charge. We get more for less from Sushi Sake in Richardson, including sea bass & hot towels . Our meal tonight (which we know Cisco when we taste it) cost $30 more than Sushi Sake would have charged (and we got so much less!!!) I came into this restaurant thinking even if it is like a 4 star experience, I ll give them 5. The staff is nice and I would like them to get more business unfortunately, the experience just was not up to par

Great food, great services. We ve been their customers for many years since the previous owner, our favorite roll is the Snoke roll and you ll never go wrong with the toro, yellowtail, salmon and the sushi bomb! The new owner is really sweet and he did a fantastic job on running this place. Love him! We were there for dinner tonight, we met Sam (one of their waiters) for the time, he did a great job, great attitude!) and Nick is always the best. We love this place, always recommended to our friends and family.

My most recent experience here was fantastic. I went on a Tuesday night feeling skeptical about how things may be considering the day of the week, but I was pleasantly surprised. Ive been here before but my most recent visit was the best one. I like that their rolls werent overdressed with sauces and all of them had their distinct flavor profiles. They didnt take away from the flavors of the fish itself. I ordered the following: Dragon Roll (5 stars): Highly recommend if you like dragon rolls. The balance of eel and avocado was excellent. It was a good size and flavorful. I like that it was the same size as their special rolls. Sexy Jerry (Special Roll - 5 stars): Highly recommend. A favorite. Anaconda (Special - 4 stars): A good roll. Its different. Its topped with fried crispy onions. Rolls Royce (Special - 4 Stars): Also different. It was topped with fresh cilantro. It was like a sushi palate cleanser. Oreo Tempura with Ice cream (3.5 stars): A good dessert. It was $5.50, discounted because it was Tuesday. Good value. Yuzu Cheesecake (3 stars): It was a basic cheesecake. It was half the size of a cheesecake slice that can be found at grocery stores or the Cheesecake Factory. But it was also $3, discounted because it was Tuesday. It was good for one person. If you like yuzu (a citrus fruit) and cheesecake, you may like it. If I had to choose between this and the Oreo Tempura with Ice cream, Id go with the Oreo Tempura with Ice cream.

Sake toro sushi is THE PLACE to be if you re needing a relaxed atmosphere with many gluten free options. Logan (front of house) is very knowledgeable about gluten free and Celiac and was training a new server about gluten free and celiac. So the fact that they take it seriously is amazing in itself and shows they truly care about ALL their customers. It does help to call in advanced and let them know you ll need accommodation but there was no in depth explanation needed. All I said was, I would like to know if you can do gluten free as we have celiac. She (Logan) said not a problem and was fine! Explained that they took extra precaution with their gluten free sashimi, nigiri, rolls and have tamari. They have 3 gluten free sushi rolls too! Their yuzu sauce is gluten free as well! The quality of service we received was amazing from all the staff (Kevin made our sushi), and the quality of fish was a big thumbs up as well! Their hot sake is also gluten free! We got plenty of pieces in our California roll and ordered too much but it was a birthday so why not! Definitely give this place a shot!

I ve been coming here since they opened in 2009 and Sake Toro is still my favourite sushi restaurant in DFW. Everything is always fresh and flavorful, I would even say the quality of sushi is comparable to Nobu but the flavor packed rolls at Sake Toro definitely surpasses other restaurants in comparison. I recommend the Say My Name roll if you like jalapeño and the Ex Boyfriend roll if you like a crunchy roll. (Both are pictured in the photo)

Stopped here since it was a convenient location, but this was one of the worst dine in experiences Ive ever had. Miso soup was bad, food was so so; staff seemed to have low morale and the atmosphere felt like being in a make shift restaurant in a basement. They seem to be mainly a take out restaurant, in which case they should just shut down the dine in area. Felt like Kitchen Nightmares honestly.

My daughter and I normally like this place so we decided to have her bday dinner there this weekend. I don t know what happened but the service was horrid! First off, it was 8 of us. Not a huge party. It took over 30 minutes for our waiter to even come get our drink orders. He then forgot to bring our drinks. Some of us ordered miso soup. Took another 35 min to get those. So now we re there 1.3 hours and all we had was soup , water with no ice (it was gross) and some sake. We ordered 8 rolls to start off. Almost 2 hours and we got 2 of the 8 rolls. We had to complain to another waitress to finally get the rest. My nephews eat a lot, we wanted to order more food but knew we d be there another 2 hours. It s sad because it was for my daughter s bday. Some of us left there hungry and had to go to Taco Bell drive through afterwards. On top of that, the waiter had the nerve to add 20% gratuity to the bill. I normally tip well but would ve left him 10% max. I paid the 20 because I didn t want to make a big deal and upset everyone even more. Horrible experience all together!

This could easily have been a 5 star review if based only on food quality. There is room for improvement on service. The number of servers at our table didn t make sense. There were 4 in total which resulted in several duplicative questions due to lack of coordination. Many of our dishes and drinks were served by reaching over the half wall and handing them to us rather than walking around and serving them on the table. My espresso martini took almost 30 minutes to arrive and while it did come with an apology there was no attempt made to make good on the wait (comp, dessert, etc). But what really prompted this rating was a a billing error. We ordered and were served a 2 piece sushi plate for $7.95 but were charged for a 5 piece sashimi plate for $17.95. When raising the issue I was told the chef said he made the sashimi for us. Essentially, the chef called a customer a liar which crosses a line. Keep in mind this was during prime dinner time when the restaurant was full. They did make good on the bill but handled very poorly. There is no shortage of Sushi restaurants in this area and it will be a long time before I return.

Food was ok, definitely not a traditional sushi place - hipster oriented. Food took a very long time to be prepared, and further orders also took a very long time (20 minutes for 2 orders of sushi). Service was really bad, unfortunately. Our server ditched us after we asked how they dressed their sushi. Fortunately, the busboy kept serving us the rest of the diner (only 3 tables in use while we were there). Time to promote your busboy! Although this is a good logistical location, there are other good sushi places within a 5 minute drive that provide better customer experience.

The glass case needed cleaning as well. The guy making the sushi didnt wear gloves and touched to many other items besides food, like the sauce bottles and glasses. When you dont keep the interior clean people will wonder about how sanitary your food items are made. Expect to pay over $100 for sure if there are 2 of you.

I m leaving out the restaurant with my friends and I get stopped going out the front door by waiter who stops me in front of a crowd of people and ask me if the service wasn t good last week because I never tipped them. Anyone that knows me knows I m one the biggest tipper ever because I have worked in the service industry most of my life. The service wasn t great. In my opinion there could ve been a much more appropriate time while we were sitting down to have let us know that there was a time out of all the times we have came and tip well that we missed one.

Wanted to love it but the inattentiveness of our waiter made it very difficult. The rolls were delicious and on par with the best sushi restaurants Ive been to. When we were first seated it did not appear to be busy yet our waiter took a while to get to us and as it got busier it of course got even worse.

Terrible service. This place needs to hire more servers. If you walk in, here are the things you should expect: 1. Stand in the walk in area and wait for someone to come to you for about 15-20 mins 2. When finally a person comes to put you on a waiting list, it will be about 30-40 mins wait 3. You get a table and wait for the server to take your order for about 15 mins 4. After waiting for an hour you will get your food Food is good, but service takes forever.

Do not go here! Staff is very, very rude. Walked in with the wife was told there were no tables, and that we could go to the sushi bar. Got there and were promptly ignored for 15 mins. When I asked for menus or a drink the staff member looked at me like like I was repoing her car. After she came back 7~8 mins later she slammed down sticky menus. That point we got up and just left. Dont bother with this joint walk up the road to Best Thai, much better experience.

Spent New Years Eve here on a double date with my bestie! Their Ultimate Vegetarian Roll was seriously delicious! When I called ahead Logan was so helpful and knowledgeable about the menu, she helped me find vegan items and even checked the kitchen to find out that their tempura doesn t have milk or eggs in it! She was so sweet and also ended up being our server. 10/10 will absolutely be returning for more great experiences here :)

Hands down, Sake Toro is the best sushi spot in the Frisco/Plano area. Located in the Frisco Downtown area - Never disappointed with the quality and presentation of their sushi dishes. One of my favorites is the Sexy Jerry - a must have when dining here. Dont question it - just make it happen!

Just like so many other reviews, service was terrible. Entirely way too long to get food (50 minutes) and was never once checked on after being served. Empty water the whole time. The sushi was good, not great. And who serves a mojito with no mint?!? Save your money and your time and make another choice.

Solid choice for sushi on Frisco square. Rolls are good, sushi is fresh and the staff is very nice. Like many places, they are understaffed, so bring your patience and enjoy the slower pace of a meal.

If I could give 0 stars to this place I would. My coworker and I went for lunch and we only had 1 hour. Took a good 40 minutes for our order. One server was rushing us to order and other tables around us were complaining of not getting their orders faster being they were the first table there that we overheard. No refills were done and we were never checked on during the whole time we were there. Also told that we had to pay for our soup/salad that we had ordered knowing we were going to pay for it. At the end of our lunch hour we asked a server if we could have our check and he came back with it saying Im sorry I was non existent during this whole time. When he was never our server to start with or did he ever check on us. Would never recommend coming to this place!

Ive lived here in the square for 5 years. I honestly dont understand how this place is still in business. I guess this is a sushi restaurant for people new to sushi. Tried them again today for the third time in 5 years just hoping, and again I received trash. Its honestly more expensive and lower quality than cheap sushi places like Sushi Go. Good luck, but Ill never give you business again.

When we entered the hostess didn t seem interested to have to seat us. She said both or table then pointed the direction to find a seat. Our first serving came and they just sat it in the middle of the table and walked off, didn t tell us what it was so we knew who to split it with. We asked for no veggies in the noodles but it came with veggies and when we pointed it out the hostess smiled and walked off. Waited 45 minutes for sushi (3 rolls) with only 4 tables full in the building. I thought my chicken was pork and tried to send it back but they told me no that s chicken . No refills, no acknowledgment that we were even there. We had to flag them for everything. It was obvious the staff didn t care to be there. I ve seen more happiness at a funeral.

Even after asking for a waiter we still were unable to receive service. If you don t have 2 hours to eat do not go here. Wait staff was on phone the whole time.

We used to go here all the time before covid started, and we were pretty excited to come back after over a year. Waited about 5 minutes after we were seated to order our drinks, and we were pretty much ready to order by then. Over the next 20 minutes, our waiter repeatedly passed by our table, refused to acknowledge our existence, and didnt approach us a single time despite us trying to get his attention. All of the servers were standing around on their phones the whole time we were there, and every time we made eye contact theyd just look away and continue talking to each other. After half an hour we walked out. Im still giving 3 stars because the food is always amazing, it just sucks that we couldnt get any this time.
