I took my 11 year old to DFW Surf for a wake surf lesson after a frustrating summer of trying to get up and surfing on my own. After some instructions, they got her up and riding the wave immediately. They were very knowledgeable, professional and encouraging providing practical concepts that an 11 year old can easily grasp. Theres truly no better place for wake surfing lessons. Highly recommend!

GREAT EXPERIENCE!! Tyler at dfw surf was great help! He exceeded my expectations by far. He helped me find the perfect sup board as I had no clue what I was looking for. He really went above and beyond to find the right product for me. He walked me through step by step and really made my shopping experience a breeze. Dfw surf and kayaking rental experience was ok and decent, staff were very friendly and accommodating, but please note that there is a 20$ parking ticket for car, for the day to enter the park itself, which is absurdly expensive, even when there was a lot of parking space available (I mean not a busy place). 20$ for car parking is insane, for that park. And another thing I felt weird was, I am already paying for a service (kayak rental paid online) for which I believe I should be eligible to enter the park, why again additional charge for car parking? Also I would suggest dfw surf rental to clearly mention about this parking ticket cost also somewhere in their renting/booking process.

We joined tonight for the Friday night Paddle and a Pint to try and get on the water before it gets too cold. It was so fun! Neither of us had done stand up paddle boarding before but we showed up 30 minutes early (as indicated) and got a quick lesson and after that it was easy. Beautiful sunset, very fun time, and we definitely got to enjoy several great local beers. Justin was a great instructor and photographer and made it all very fun! The only possible drawback is the park fee to get in, but Justin apologized for it and admitted they hate it too. Great Friday night plans! We will definitely be back.

4 to 4.5 stars. First time kayaking, and really enjoyed the experience. The customer service was great when I called in advance with some questions, and they were very fast and attentive on-site to get us going. Didnt really give us much instruction, but it was probably more fun as we figured it out on our own. Only price keeps this from being 5 stars - especially since it costs an extra $20 just to enter the park area itself.

Had a great experience, couldnt have asked for much more. They were able to get my wife up and surfing without the rope in about 10 minutes and with a good foundation to build on on our own. I had questions about board sizing and finding the right board, they had multiple brands and sizes on hand for me to try and find the right board. Tyler was very helpful and Chris did everything you couldve asked for out of a driver! Will definitely be back soon to work on advanced skills.

If you want to learn to Paddleboard this is the place to go. Adventure Ladies had a lesson on Saturday. When you arrive you will sign your waiver and then go put your things in a locker that s provided. Then head down to the lake where the paddleboards are lined up along the lake. An employee will get you set up with a life vest/belt and paddle. After going over some basic info it s time to get on water. You will start out on your knees to get a feel for it. Once you are away from the water edge, the instructor will show you how to stand up and paddle. It s great to at least try to stand but if it s more fun for you to stay seated then that s perfectly fine too. Alex helped us and he was so patient. We had such a great time that we are going back in July. Join us

Booked online checked in at the front desk and went to the lakeside. The guys got me my life jacket and rowers, pushed me off the edge. Its a bit windy today but got some good excercise because of that. You land the kayak yourself and pull it up but its not hard water is pretty shallow at the edge. Got a little wet pulling up the kayak because of the wave but its fun overall. Lookout for the $20 entry to the park if you drive though, that was unexpected. But the park is very nice, you can spend all day here swimming, picnic or just sit and enjoy the view. There is a restroom and small free locker to put your valuables.

I found DFW Surf in the midst of the Pandemic and it was the best thing to help me find some sanity. I started with the SUP Yoga classes with Tina Lopez and Brandy Goodlett and had a great time doing night time paddles out on the lake. Wakesurfing though is my absolute favorite part about being a member at DFW SURF. Alex Gartside is one of the best boat drivers who is thoughtful about the surfer and considers how to make them feel comfortable especially if they are new. I personally asked him to be our driver when my friends and I rented a charter and he was so friendly and chill. The only reason I dont give them 5 stars is because I do think the membership has become a little more expensive. I understand that the membership covers a multitude of things like SUP Yoga, Paddleboard rental, kayak rentals and some fun activities as a community. But the downside to being a member is youre paying for the winter season where not many activities are available. Its also an additional cost to surf even though you get a discount with the membership. The additional fees cover the boat driver and gas which is understandable. But you only get 15 minutes to surf but I wish it was 5-10 more minutes more. Youre paying more than the cost of the actual membership when you do more than 4-5 sessions a month. Not to mention its another $75 for a yearly parking pass at the marina and thats the discounted cost if youre a member. Surf season begins around May and lasts through September/October, so in the months where its not available youre limited to other water activities but even then it gets too cold. I do believe in supporting local business and knowing great employees that work there are the reason I continue to pay the full membership.

The guy who rented the kayaks to us was nice enough, but he didnt give us instructions on what to do to return them. So, when we were done with our hour, we left them on the bank. When I called about a hour later to ensure they received them, the guy I spoke to (dont know if it was the same guy or not) was pretty rude.

Tyler gave me a lesson & within minutes of me making adjustments he saw that I needed to change, I had improved instantly. My airs were more fluid & higher, my slashes more aggressive & everything was executed in the proper placement of the wave thanks to him. If you re contemplating lessons, completely worth it! First time ever going here. The park is stunning but kinda frustrating you have to pay $15 just to get into the park to kayak... The seats in the kayaks are poor quality and dont offer back support at all. I appreciated that the life vests were new and clean. Overall it was a great day and we enjoyed ourselves but since their prices are exact same as other places weve gone to that have better kayaks and no additional parking fees... We wont return here.

My daughter and her husband took me to DFW surf where we rented paddle boards and had a terrific time. Justin behind the counter was friendly, helpful, and fun to chat with. When we came in from paddle boarding another guy taking up the paddle board said, well how was it? He was friendly and cheerful. The park is nice, and it had covered or sheltered, picnic tables . Was a great day, feels like temperature was 104 degrees. Water was great! Loved the experience!

I hate I even had to give this one star. I moved here from MIAMI FLORIDA. The state park there offered kayaks and paddle boards for $35 for the ENTIRE day to go on the OCEAN. It s absolutely insane that they charge that much per hour to get out on lake Lewisville (one of the dirtiest lakes in north Texas) don t come here unless you want to spend over $100 just to have a decent time with your family. Which in my opinion isn t worth it for what you re getting. Better off buying your own kayak or SUP online and bringing it to the lake for free. Stay away from these people. It s a rip off

I started coming here in April for Paddle N Pints and found my place on this planet is on the water. I cancelled my gym membership and started a DFW Surf membership. Im out here at least twice a week enjoying both the Surf n Turf fitness class to start my week (Monday night) and the Paddle N Pints (Friday night) to end it. There are so many classes and so much to do and you make friends unlike the local gym where no one talks to anyone, everyone here is so friendly and personable. Did I mention they have bikes? Outdoor + Exercise + Socializing = WINNER!

This is an awesome family friendly outing! The staff is courteous and very helpful in making sure you have a great experience. They have a nice hangout area, all the club members are cool, and the equipment is up to date. Theres no hidden fees not sure where that came from. Sounds like the negative reviews are coming from some people who were causing problems and the staff made sure the rest of the guests didnt have their experience ruined. Way to go DFW Surf! We will not be back. Fourth of July was ruined because of poor customer service. Staff was unfriendly. I understand its the fourth, and you have to work.. been there, done that. Try employing people who care.

The closest thing to being at the beach your gonna get in North Texas. They have great locations that are easy to find, and a great staff. They also have an amazing Surf Club community full of fun and friendly people. If your looking to Stand up paddle, kayak, or do a variety of tow-sports this is the spot.

We go kayaking in Austin from time to time, and they only charge $15 per hour for a double, and only $5 for each additional hour after that. This place doesn t have the same service or accommodations as other places. I d rather just buy one instead of wasting money there.

Having wanted to try stand up paddle-boarding for a long time, I was encouraged by an excellent article by Cori Baker in the June 18th, Plano Profile, in which she described her beginners class experience at DFW Surf on Lake Lewisville. What a great experience, even for this 60+ year old! The instructor was very supportive and informative, with the natural good humor one finds in the best of outdoor guides and instructors. The equipment was in excellent condition and the facilities are ideal for a first time SUP experience. I would highly recommend this company.

I really dont like leaving negative reviews & chose to check this place out based on the positive ones but this was a pretty terrible experience. I booked a kayak for 4-6 PM today. I brought a plastic bag for the things I didnt want to get wet (as I always have with different water sports) but was told to just throw anything I didnt want to get wet in the center waterproof compartment. About twenty minutes into it I go for my portable charger I threw in there to find the things full of water. Luckily my cellphone case is waterproof but my portable charger is toast along with possibly my electric gate opener for my home. I was vehemently told I was required to wear a very bulky, hot and uncomfortable life vest at all times or face a $400 fine as it was the law but when I returned just 45 minutes into it the guy who rented me the kayak was out on the water with two chicks he seemed way more interested in than any customers- all with no life jackets. He asked why I was back already & told me to just pull my kayak up on the side of the bank and that he would get it later as he paddled off... No offers to refund the hour I didnt use or apologies. Just doesnt seem right or professional. Its currently 5:15 and Im choosing rather to spend my last hour paid for sitting in traffic than finishing it out. Huge disappointment and waste of money. Ill save the kayaking for Austin Tx where its more friendly, cleaner and accommodating.

Taylyn was our instructor for our beginner basics class last Saturday and she was very helpful. We had a great time, picked up the basics really easy, and felt comfortable finishing the second half of the time out on the lake without assistance. Clean and friendly environment, well definitely be back!

Had a great time this past weekend taking the Beginners Paddle class. Everything got started on time and we were walking on water in no time. Justin got us up to speed and paddling on our own pretty quickly and left us with the rest of the afternoon to explore and paddle out on our own. Great day, worth every penny.

I definitely appreciated the customer service with DFW Surf. Tyler helped me select a wake surf board that worked well and I was happy with the board and the ease of check-in/check-out of the items. Tyler is very knowledgeable on the wake surf scene and boards for beginners. I definitely appreciate the company and would recommend them again to a friend/family member/etc. Prices were reasonable and customer service was awesome!

Enjoyed my first paddle boarding experience with my husband and youngest daughter on Friday. The instructor was very knowledgeable and easy going. The one thing I would suggest is to advise customers of the park entrance fee prior to booking. It was minimal, but a surprise when we arrived. Overall, this was a fun time!

This place is amazing! I dont give 5 stars very often, but well deserved. The coaches and owners are amazing...very helpful, fun & attentive staff. Sunset paddles are my favorite experience here! Come hang out and play games, paddle board, listen to good music and make time to grab some food at Captain Jacks. This is by far my favorite thing to do in the Frisco/Little Elm/The Colony area. If you are in for a new adventure, definitely check this place out. Im also a member of the DFW surf club and Justin aka Coach Dingo from DFW Surf Adventures in Frisco taught me! Being a member of the club is like being part of a family. Totally awesome all the way around!

A huge THANK YOU to Tyler of DFW Surf for a wonderful Fathers Day outing for our family! Ive SUPed with him many times but it was the 1st time for my husband and his daughter. Theyre hooked too!
