There arent enough good things I can tell you about this place. My favorite restaurant in Fort Worth. And maybe in all of Texas. The staff has always been great. The speed of service is next level. Even busy it still never makes you feel forgotten. The small menu speaks for itself. Everything Ive had there has been delicious. Cant wait to be back in town so I can bring more people for their first time.

Came here for my moms 85th birthday on a Friday night. Only 2 options of food: enchiladas or fajitas. Ok. And cash only. Ok. Its my moms bday, do yall do anything? No, our singers are not here tonight but I can give her a cookie with a candle. Ok. Good was good though but geez ! Waitress was also very nice. Dont come here to celebrate a bday though.

It is an awesome place to sit and relax with amazing food for a few hours. They have a good range of vegetarian options, too, and surprisingly, they managed to prepare food with some allergy cautions, too. 100% recommended. Vegetarian options: You need to ask for any option to be available for vegetarian.

I was born and raised in South Texas. There is a world of difference in the taste and flavoring of food in all restaurants. Im a good cook thanks to my mother. The treatment of any dish can be enhanced with ingredients such as cominos molidos, ajo, cebollas, pimienta negra, y chiltepins.

The atmosphere is a five and the food is dried out and we were so disappointed. We went on a Wednesday night at 5 PM. We were the first store order and literally within five minutes. We had our fajitas out everything and it was dried out when we asked the waiter was he said it was just cut, but I will not believe that for one minute ! I saw that it was only a 4.2 on Google and there were people complaining in the reviews. I shouldve listened to them and not wasted my money.

Eating at Joe T. Garcias has been a family tradition for DECADES. We live in Northeast Missouri and this is by far our favorite stop between home and San Antonio. Everything about the restaurant is a hit: the location, the seating--both indoor and outdoor, the fajitas, the tortilla soup, the service, the fountains, the gardens, I think you get the point. If youve never been here, youre really missing out. Kid-friendliness: The outdoor seating is perfect for having kiddos at your table and not disturbing other people around you. Plus, if they start to get a little excited, you can take a quick walk around the beautiful gardens and fountains.

Good ambiance, Average food, Not good service. Payment only in cash is not a convenient thing. Luckily we had cash on us. There was a long wait in hot sun. Our food was not hot when served. The waitress did not give us back our change and assumed all the change was her tip. We had asked her to get the change and after that we would obviously generously tip her. But she ignored us as soon as we made the payment. This was inconsiderate.

My wife and I and several family members visited this restaurant yesterday late afternoon. It was my wife and Is first time to visit. We were visiting from Colorado. The waiting line outside was incredibly long, parking was adequate, we ended up waiting about 20 minutes, were not greeted upon entering the restaurant, were seated (group of 8), were served by our excellent & friendly waitress, she took our orders quickly, were served out food within 15 minutes, the meal portion was surprisingly small I think, the food was good and not over-priced, the outdoor, spacious dining room was beautiful, interesting, comfortable, and we had a big fan trained on all of us at our table on the 90 degree F day, and the restroom was clean and did not smell.

It started with an inside joke, if you dont see any Mexicans or Hispanics at a Tex-Mex restaurant eating, it might not be good. We came in after a long day of celebrating Mexicos Independence Day at the stockyards. Our waiter was attentive and super nice! The problem started with the chips, they were cold and stale. Our sons kids plate came with cheese nachos. It was literally a tostada with microwaved cheese on it. I ordered a beef chile relleno, inside was cold and the meat was consistent of wet toilet paper, and super soggy. The sauce on my relleno was more like an Italian tomato sauce that I can only describe as overpowering too tomatoy if that makes ANY sense. My daughter said she could tell her rice was not freshly made. When you reheat/microwave rice, youll notice sometimes parts of the rice get crunchy and hard. Her chicken flautas were small. My husbands chimichangas, Ive had better air-fried frozen chimis from HEB. The dinner/lunch menu is limited to your choices. Our food came out quickly, which hints that this place has turned into pushing out these plates... quantity over quality. I ve talked to several of my local neighbors and told them, since when did Joe T s become so poor in terms of quality of the food.. their response, well yeah, you don t got to Joe T s for the food, you just go because of the ambiance, and the experience. To the owners of the restaurant, is this the legacy you want to represent? Take away the outdoor garden, and all you have is a 2 star Tex-Mex restaurant. Also, just skim through the review you ll notice most of these so-called 5 star reviews are not from Mexican s/hispanics who truly know what GOOD quality Tex/Mex food is!

The place looked really nice. Our server Melody was really sweet and helped us with trying to make it warmer for my daughter. The food was okay at best. The rice and beef fajitas were the only thing I enjoyed. Unfortunately my husband and I both got food poisoning. We both were the only ones in our party to have the meat and both have been stuck to the toilet. I already didn t feel like coming back here but now that we are sick we really aren t coming back. Truly great Mexican food. The enchilada dinner is excellent. The patio seating is beatiful, especially on a mid-september evining. There was a wait to get in. Excellent and attentive service. The only problem I had is they apparently use toothpicks while frying the corn tortillas for the taco shell. I found one in my taco by biting it in half. This problem would be remedied if the would just use a taco frying basket.

It s an undeniably beautiful place which is why the celebrities and Fort Worth wealthy all go, but it isn t a restaurant for the people of Fort Worth. The Hispanic community that live near the restaurant will wash dishes, cook food, and bus the tables of Joe T s, but they don t make the big money of serving, and they certainly don t eat there. Service from being greeted outdoors in line, in a fun, from a place of love and excitement greeting us and driving the anticipationof getting in. She also recommended margs while we waited in line, and which we of course took advantage of. 1.5 marg wait is lightening fast up there, and such a great place to wait. Then to the hostesses when we got up, refilled our pitcher or helped with that, amd seated us immediately upon entering the main restaurant. Server and help were waiting and on point by every metric of fun, one of a kind service. Bedt waiter/waitresses in Ft. Worth hands down. Was never in need of a refill of food nor drink. Help and food delivery fast and amazing. Taste overall AAA+ beef enchilada perfectly spicy and delicious. Exactly the amount of food I needed. Food, atmosphere, familiarity, one of a kind experience and a must visit location while in Fort Worth, Texas. Best food in The DFW!

Iconic Mexican Restaurant since 1935 Located just north of the Ft Worth Stockyards. The family started out cooking and serving their recipes in their home. Today , you can enter the front of the house and it leads to a huge dining facility. The courtyard and the entire back and side of the property has been transformed into a lush forest . Multiple seating areas surrounded by columns, fountains, gardens, and tables create an outdoor oasis. The paths and walkways meander through archways with trees, plants, and beautiful stonework. Whether you dine in or on the patios the service is outstanding. The menu is simple with only a few choices.Dont be fooled. Everything offered is prepared well and ample servings. The enchiladas with rice , beans, tacos, and nachos were terrific. The bar options are varied and easy access to multiple bars throughout the property. They can handle huge parties with ease. Whatever event you are celebrating, this is a location designed to accommodate. I ve been coming here for decades and never been disappointed. Remember it s All cash but ATM s are there. Celebrities frequently dine here If you like people watching. Highly recommend this restaurant. The family is hands on and making sure you are enjoying yourself.

We have been wanting to try this place for a while but the line was always too long. We arrived to discover that there was a private event occurring and that they wait to sit outside was over an hour. But they could seat us inside within ten minutes. Slightly disappointed, we chose to sit inside. We ordered and received our drinks fairly quickly. We ordered our food and had to wait a considerable amount of time. Fair, as it was a Saturday night. But the margarita that was ordered tasted like it was out of a machine. The chips were a bit stale and the salsa was only mild. There were not many items on the menu to order from. We ordered steak and chicken fajita. The chicken was good but the steak, not so much. The outside area is beautiful, but the food is just ok and very overpriced. We will not return and I would not recommend this place to authentic Mexican food lovers.

If you re going for the patio and don t mind waiting an hour or more to sip margs on a nice day, go for it. But if you want good or would even settle for decent TexMex, then go literally any place else. This was without question the worst TexMex food I ve ever eaten, and that includes TexMex in NYC, and it s not even close. I have lived in Dallas and Austin my entire life and admittedly I m a little snobby about TexMex and really most food, but my GF is not. We started with an order of chicken nachos these are very large single order nachos. I actually didn t mind these but my GF thought the chicken was very dry (it was) and had an offputting sweetness to it, which we both identified as teriyaki sauce, which has no place in TexMex food. But whatever, they were fine. Next we ordered beef fajitas which the waitress was nice enough to tell us that one order would be plenty for both of us. It was the portion was huge and we were really excited when it came out. But that excitement abated quickly literally on the first bite. This was not any kind of fajita meat not flap steak, flank steak, or any other cut of beef typically used for good fajitas. No, they use cheap chuck roast cut into chunks. Like the chicken it was overcooked and had a weird flavor. And it was soooo chewy. We each ate one small fajita and then decided we were done. At least 75% was left uneaten. That never happens. But that s how bad they were. The flour tortillas were tasty, but my GF didn t care for the corn tortillas. They are homemade and looked good, but she said the consistency and flavor were both off. The best thing I can say about this place is that our server was very nice and helpful and the price point was good. And I gave four stars for the atmosphere outside (inside is nothing special). If I had paid $50 for the these fajitas I would have been angry. But for $38 plus tip (for fajitas and the nachos) we were ok. We won t return but we re happy we finally tried it out. On Reddit someone posted that Joe T s was once great, but now it s just famous for being famous. That is spot on.

Overall I would give it 3 out of 5 stars. We live about 50 minutes away and were going to Ft Worth. We asked google where to go for good margaritas. Google suggested Joe T. Garcias, and said they had the best. This is our review from start to finish. For starters you wait in what appears to be a long line to get your table, however the line is deceiving and moves quickly because the restaurant is really big. However, its largely outdoors/ patio, so keep that in mind pending on the weather. There isnt really any way for you to know its mainly outdoor seating from the outside bc the restaurant is walled in. I tred to go to to the bar and get us drinks while my husband held our spot. I waited 10 minutes to get to the front and be told the bar was cash only (I only had card). Then we waited about 15 more minutes for our table. Our server was friendly and gave us good service. I order a rocks margarita with grand Marnier and it was delicious, but my husband ordered a frozen swirl and it was meh. Not worth the $ for the size, and certainly not the best margarita around. The salsa was the most delicious part of the meal. Overall it was a bit underwhelming. We eat majority Tex Mex and this was not it. We probably would not go back. It was just meh all around. We ordered queso and split combination fajitas. The fajitas were fine but not good, certainly not great. The queso was not good, and Im a queso girl. Heres the craziest part and reason they lose a full star- the restaurant is Cash only. In 2024. You have to use their ATM and get out cash to pay. NO! Thats a nuisance and means fees x2. There were no signs we saw telling us this before we waited 30 minutes and then were seated. So frustrating.

The cheese on the nachos was not as sharp in flavor as I remembered it. The taste was very bland. But I was really suprised at the temperature of the enchiladas, beans, and rice. In the known universe, all the aliens got together and said lets create the perfect place with the perfect food and the perfect setting on Planet Earth. But, lets do it in North Fort Worth, just because . . . Lets call it Wcgyujdadyhjkfchkfcvsf. But then their commander said, What are you thinking my fellow aliens, Earthlings dont speak no Gwarnack!!! So, Lets just call it Joe.T Garcias, just because. And universal history has come to be, and its near a landing pad near everyone. A James Beard award place with epic Margaritas. PSST, dont drink more than one, you too may write a silly post. Vegetarian options: Gluten free and vegetarian Be glad you know JT Garcias. This is epic and world class.

Service, drinks and atmosphere are great at Joe T Garcias, prices are reasonable considering inflation and the fact they are cash or check only. Food is good, I wouldnt call it in the top of my Tex Mex favorites or even Mexican for that matter but the homemade tortillas and fajitas were solid enough Id go back and portions were good. The restaurant building is fabulous, very historic, and really a must-see, but that is where the attraction ends. First, cash only, not cool. Why? To make things worse, we met family there. 3 couples. After seated, the waitress tells us about the cash only policy and that they do not do individual tickets? What? This is tremendously awkward. Seems like their motto is take it or leave it. We ordered fajitas $25 plus, if you want cheese or sour cream, its $3.90 extra. Margaritas were very small and ok but definitely not $11 worth. We all ordered differently. None looked good at all. Wish I had taken pictures. Weve had better food at Taco Bell. Wont be back or recommending. Sad, very sad.

This was my third time here, and I personally still cant understand the hype. Ill admit that it has a cool vibe to it, and I if youre a fan of outdoor dining, this is your place. I think what annoys me most about this place is the limited parking and the extreme wait times! Standing in line, outside, is not my thing. We had a large party, 30 plus, so I get it! They wouldnt seat us until EVERYONE was there. That being said, we stood up... luckily, inside of the lobby, away from the August heat , for almost 2 hours. The other thing that annoys me is how the staff will take everyones order, put it all on one bill, add in their gratuity on the taxed (total) amount and then leave it up to the guest to sort it out. I dont think they realize how much time that takes and how it impacts their ability to turn tables around after guest are done and ready to leave. As for the food, Ill give it a 3.9 out of 5. I wish they had more options, but thats a me thing.... clearly, people love this place. For me, its OK. Would I go back? Sure, if thats what everyone really wanted to do or, in this case, what the birthday girl wanted.... but to say this place would be at the front of my mind for places to visit for dinner.....Nope!

My wife and I traveled 3 hours from East Texas to check eating at Joe T. Garcias off of our bucket list. We met relatives from DFW there for a late lunch. The history is undeniable and the restaurant, especially the patio, is unique and worth seeing. Thats where the experience ends unfortunately. To begin with, they only take cash. We researched it ahead of time and were prepared but 99% of the time we dont carry cash due to debit cards. Our waitress did announce this when we were seated but if you didnt know this you would have to leave creating a very awkward moment. The food is overpriced and not worth the time. When our waitress came back to take our order (there were six of us; three groups of two) she announced that they dont offer separate checks which led to another awkward moment when the check arrived trying to calculate who owed what. Her attitude when she told us this was the opposite of customer service; it was basically we dont split checks and if you dont like it theres the door. How hard is it to spilt checks and take debit cards? We were told the margaritas were amazing. Not! They were served in tiny glasses, were watered down and not strong and were over $11 each. The whole experience was vastly overrated and well never be back. For what its worth we live in Longview and T Blancos is about 2 minutes from our house. TBs puts JTGs to shame in every way, shape and form all day every day and twice on Sundays. Save your money and pick a different place; Im sure you could throw a rock in Ft. Worth and find a much better Tex Mex experience.

The portions are large so the child plate was perfect for me. Great service and theres some wait for a table. Grab a pitcher of margaritas and the line starts moving faster. There are 2 separate lines for indoor and outdoor dining. The patio is large and beautiful.

This place is bad. The restrooms are horribly disgusting. The food is just nasty, their idea of enchiladas are rolled up tortillas covered in some tomato type sauce and nacho cheese. The tables smell bad, like they were wiped down with old moldy rags. The tacos served as appetizers are an even cheaper version of the already cheap jack in the box tacos. Just dont do it. Dont waste your time and money on horrible food. The only reason I even gave it a star, is because I wouldnt be able to post this with out a rating. It doesnt deserve it.

I never thought I would give Joe T. s A bad review. But, this is the last time I will eat there, And I ve been going to the restaurant since 1987. We had the beef fajitas and they were terrible. The meat and vegetables looked and tasted like they were practically boiled, which means they cooked too much of it at one time and the meat did not sear, but Instead steamed. Gross. Also, I spent all night in the restroom with food poisoning.. The last two times I ve gone to Joe T s The food has been mediocre best. The atmosphere is great, but it s not worth the time waiting in line nor the bad food. There are so many better choices in Fort Worth.

Great stop when in Fort Worth near The Stockyards. Iconic Tex-Mex restaurant. Very popular and wait is extreme for dinner most nights, especially weekends. Worth the wait. Fun atmosphere with wonderful outdoor garden seating. Seats for hundreds. Lots of parking around venue. Food is good. Big portions of salsa with crispy thicker chips. Big portions from a smaller menu. Outdoor bars. Service is friendly and quick. Bathrooms are very small for the size of the restaurant. A great spot to try if you ve never been.

Of course you want to sit outside because of the beautiful ambience. It was around 7:30 and that s a perfect time for mosquitoes to bite and the flies are all over your food. You would think the management would figure out what they could do to manage that. I even felt sorry for the wait staff. They were so hot and sweaty. The small room they get the tea is hot and they are sweating. You would think the management would take care of their staff and provide a little air conditioner or something. I ve always been curious why they only take cash or check. Food is OK nothing to break about , and the margaritas are served in a small plastic cup. Nothing to brag about.

We used to be regulars at Esperanza s, which is owned by Joe Garcia. The service this time was not what we are used to. We had to ask repeatedly where our food was while tables that came after us had eaten and gone. We receded for almost an hour before our food arrived. We finished our meal and asked for our check three times before we finally got them. We were on our way to an event, and I did not have time to ask to speak to the manager. We will return to Esperanza s just to see if this was a one time thing. Hate to see all our Fort Worth hangouts turning into tourist traps, which is affecting service and quality of product.

Very disappointed. I love Mexican food (both Tex Mex and authentic) and eat it about 2-3x a week. From the online ratings I expected this to be good but the food was very average to below. Had the fajitas combo. It was overcooked and meat quality was below average, tough. Chips stale (even the new ones requested). Salsa was great though. Service was good. Atmosphere ok, outside patio would be nice in better weather. Was traveling through Ft Worth and I know the city has great food, was looking forward to it but will pick better next time.

Its a tourist trap for sure. The best thing about this place was the hype. The atmosphere was nice but the food was mediocre at best. I figured that waiting out in the sun for 30 minutes it would at least be good but it wasnt. Salsa was bland, the chips were greasy, the rice over cooked, the beans okay, the tacos bland, the tortillas okay, the chimichangas were appetizer sized & bland, and the OVERLY hyped enchiladas werent anything to write home about. I would rather go to a local restaurant to get something way better and for half the price. Save yourself time and money. Just walk through the garden, take your own picture without paying $15 for one of theirs and go somewhere else.
