I wouldnt recommend the youth sports here at this Y location. We are on week 3 of volleyball and the first few practices we did not have a coach and the practice location was 20 minutes away, to far for just about the whole team. The practice time has changed twice and this week is change #3. When you email the head of volleyball she doesnt always respond. She did for me, but not the best answers. Others have had little to no luck. So in other words the scheduling and finding a coach is horrible. Both of those things should be completed before the season starts. The stars are for the team we have and coach, all great.

We absolutely LOVE Northpark Y!!!! My husband and I have worked out here for years and our kids have grown up here. My husband and I have had workout and coffee dates throughout the years while our kids have played at the playhouse and youth zone. I have been able to get homework done for grad school during my time at the Y and my kids have made so many crafts and drawings from the Y. Most recently my daughter became old enough to do the cardio equipment at the Y and she was so excited to do her orientation. The Y has also helped our kids to swim! There s so many caring and loving people at the Y and I m so thankful to be a part of this community.

This YMCA exceeds all expectations of a first class fitness center. The environment is friendly and positive. The classes are great with fun instructors and participants. I ve attended numerous YMCAs over my 72 years. I prefer the YMCA over any fitness center choices. What s best is it s family oriented and caring about all people.

Every class that I have taken the instructors have made it such a great experience. I have never felt judgement from the instructors or any if the other members. Staff is always friendly and helpful with questions, and the child care availability is what makes it all possible. Joining the YMCA has been one of the best investments I have made for myself. ETA: I also really enjoy the opportunities that my kids get with Parents Night Out to be with other kids on weekend evenings because they enjoy the activities and friends while my husband and I get to spend a few hours together. Its mutually beneficial to parents and kids because we each feel like we are the ones getting the benefit out of the experience. Everyone is always so friendly and helpful. We feel comfortable in each situation we are in, whether it is for our twin 2 year olds or my older kids (8 and 10). We have used Parents Night Out, and Swim Lessons and had great experiences with both.

We had to cancel our membership because of our new baby and when we came back to activate our membership again the employee told us it ll be 98$, 88$ for one month of membership and 10$ for activation fee but 3 days later which was the 15th they charged us again $80 and when we called them they said that employee didn t know very well and it s this much now. I m really disappointed by this service they said something and now they don t honor it. If I knew it ll be this much I wouldn t have signed the agreement. While YMCA is a non profit organization means they put Christian principles into their programs (it s on their website) and if you look into your transaction type for the Y it says gifts and donations not a gym membership. That s interesting.

I like YMCA. Especially the ladies at the entrance they are so friendly. I sent my kid to soccer lessons and swimming lesson years ago so we decide to try swimming lesson again this summer. The only good thing about the lesson was my kid had fun with other kids. Many students in our lesson were late frequently. So was one of the female coach. Sometimes she even sneaked in the class through fence door from the back. There are only 30 minutes each class and I didn t get why coach waited for late students to arrive then started the lessons. It s not fair for other students. The female coaches chatted with each other during the class and complained they are so tired. Just so unprofessional. I can t believe how disrespectful they were. Is it because your students are young and naive? You can tell some coaches didn t even want to be there. By the way, I don t know the coach s name cause she never introduced herself. I hope YMCA can hire better people.

Patrick Dukes absolutely awful. Our girls go without uniforms nearly the entire season, no team photos. Patrick responds with banning me from attending my child s volleyball games for having spoken up for all the other disgruntled parents. What a joke. No refund, no answer for robbing all of us of what we paid for. Absolute worst sports experience we have ever been through. I suggest going somewhere they care about equality.

Done with the YMCA after 12 years. Ive been a volunteer coach for several seasons. Weve had at least one of our kids in a sport with the YMCA for the past 12 years. They finally got basketball back this past winter. No playoffs for the older teams and almost every game we played had just one ref. No spring season. Was told Summer basketball would start in July. Now I see from the website that the next season wont be until December. No update from anyone at the YMCA. They easily could have sent out an email to at least the previous coaches so that we could have had our returning players go elsewhere instead of waiting around for a season that wasnt going to happen. This place is going down hill and the person in charge of organizing the sports seems he couldnt care less.

Called today for information on swim lessons and summer camp, I was completely disappointed that the young gal that answered knew nothing and kept referring me to their website, which I had already visited before even calling. Poor customer service in my opinion, not even sure why pay staff to answer phones if they cant answer any questions and just refer you to the website. Im also turned off by the fact that there is not an option to register in person as the website forces you to accept automatic billing and Im not interested in doing that for one summer camp week. Also, you cant even do group swim lessons unless you form your own group with friends and family. This location is right by my house but now I feel compelled to find a different location for swim lessons and summer camp, very unfortunate.

The youth sports program here is a JOKE! Last fall my son did tball and went the entire season without a coach! Each parent had to be out there coaching their own kid the whole time, and nobody was notified about team pictures ahead of time so half the team wasnt there for them. We decide to give the Y another chance and my 11 year old son is doing 7on7 football now. First of all, I never heard anything from the coach before the season started about when practices would start, so I had to call the Y and have them tell the coach to email me. A few days later I finally get an email saying their first practice is today at 6pm. The email came in at 6:05pm. So my son missed his first practice because the coach didnt have my email address for some reason. Then his 2nd practice was weathered out. So when we arrived for his first game, we didnt even know who the coach was nor had my son been given the opportunity to practice with his actual team. Whats more, when we arrive, they tell me they gave his jersey to a kid that registered late (despite us having registered my son months ago) and give my son a jersey that doesnt match his teammates and says Coach on the back and fits him like a dress. I was told his would be in by the next game. At the next game I asked his coach about it and he said oh I dont know nothin bout no jersey, he can just play in what hes in and no one from the Y was there to talk to about it. Speaking of the coach, the coach told everyone to be there 2:30 for a 3pm game, but the coach didnt get there until 3:01! And with no text or notice that he was running late. Then the practice following that game was cancelled altogether due to the coachs own personal schedule. Were not even going to bother finishing the season. This is such a waste of time and lies on the Ys sports director.

From an out of town branch. Very pleased with the kind, welcoming front desk. Nice clean, newer facility with good equipment.

Youth baseball program was HORRIBLE. My son played in 8U coach pitch. Scores were not kept properly, our team had 3 wins that were not reported because the scorer responsible was a parent on the other team and I guess didnt wanna report a loss for their team. There was also a team that had obviously played together a while, probably a select team, comprised of kids that were TOWERING over some of our kids. They had to be 10 or 11. Easy to say that I will never bring my child to play here again.

Weve recently joined up as well as the child care is great (in the child care section). That said, outside the childcare walls, there are a number of kids climbing and playing on the equipment. Theyre not doing anything other than getting in the way and most are unsupervised. Its annoying having to wait for a treadmill so that 6 year old can screw around on it just to push buttons. The main locker room doors are also really dangerous! They open outward to the main walking strip and Ive already hit some people opening the door (yes I opened it slowly). Why wouldnt they make these swing INWARD to not interfere with the main path? OR put a window on the outside door so that you can see people before opening the door? OR better yet, there are 2 doors to get into the locker room.. just remove the outside one... Furthermore, there are never any towels and most people dont seem to wipe down the equipment afterward. While my wife enjoys the classes, Im not impressed.

My daughter went to swim lessons every year since she was four and had gotten great instructors each time. This year it was different. She had class at 9am with one instructor to six kids. I complained to the manager on this and didnt get anywhere. Needless to say we wont be going back which is sad because its only minutes from our house.

Class schedule is abysmal. There is only 1 class at 7:30 in the evenings, and very few classes on the weekends. It didnt make sense to continue if I could only make a class or two a month so I went in today to cancel my membership, which they make you do in person. Huge inconvenience and completely unnecessary except it gives them the opportunity for a hard sell to get you to stay. I was told that if I had come in the day before I would have made the 30 day cutoff and wouldnt be charged for July. Well I work so I couldnt go the day before. So now Im going to get charged again in July for something I wont use. Oh but they said my membership is valid until August 15....useless. Not sure what the purpose of a 30 day cancellation notice is except to bilk more money from members. Its not like theres a waiting list to join. Also their website mentions dues being pro-rated and refunds issued for unused portions but that apparently isnt the case.

I recently joined this YMCA. The location and equipment is fine but the 5 stars goes to the personal trainer I hired named Dan-ette! She did an excellent job training and getting me into shape. I was recommended to her and she exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend using her for personal training needs.

The only squat rack is not set up properly. Rungs are at odd heights and the safeties are permanently set too high. Also, theres no dip belt.
