exhibits are are fascinating, challenging norms and thought provoking. Helps to have some art history to understand how some confounding piece got to be considered displayable pieces. There is always lunch at the great Cafe Modern. Meals almost never disappoint and drinks,, both alcoholic and non are scrumptious. Sublime and soothing setting.

Very unwelcoming to kids - would not recommend. I tried to visit with my two kids who have been art museums all over the world all of their lives but ended up leaving after 30 mins. When I questioned an employees treatment I was told the gallery wasn t meant for kids. Went on a weekday at opening at museum was empty. Second floor of gallery was closed.

Love this museum. Beautiful collection and intriguing visiting exhibits. Also attended a trombone concert while there. Tadao Andos stunning architecture sets this building apart, as well as the pond. and surrounding landscape. The Cafe Modern serves excellent fare but seems overpriced to me. First Fridays are an excellent way to enjoy the museum collection for free, while also enjoying life music, snacks, and drinks. I would give this museum five stars if it did not charge admission as its two neighbors, the Kimbell and the Amon Carter, do.

I (and I believe, many others) sometimes struggle to understand and appreciate certain kinds of modern art. Usually, that s because as a viewer we lack context that s necessary to understand the artists vision. Luckily for me and anyone else who visits this gorgeous building, a great deal of the pieces include descriptions of the artist and their vision behind the piece. This makes the art even more enjoyable! An example is the ladder; it s a beautiful piece on its own. But the context gives it an even deeper meaning. If you re in the area, I d definitely recommend stopping by. They seem to change the exhibitions routinely so you never know what you re going to find!

The Modern Art Museum is an absolute gem among the museums of Fort Worth. So many incredible artworks from all over the world. Im not an art aficionado or big art fan, but I enjoyed the beauty and serenity of this museum. We attended The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg exhibit. Incredible works of art that showcased the talent of Takashi Murakami and Japanese art. The museum is huge! We walked through the place often thinking we were at the end of the building and then we would find another door/hallway leading to more artwork. We spent a couple hours in it and did not see it all. The museum offers discounts on certain days as well. On the first Friday of the month, they have a free viewing in the evening with a happy hour with snacks and drinks available for purchase. Students get a reduced rate with a valid student ID. There is also a cafe with a full service bar, perfect for a weekend brunch. The museum shows films in their movie theater. I saw a viewing of the documentary Simple As Water here with a Q&A with the director and two stars of the film, absolutely incredible experience. The sculptures and the reflecting pool are so peaceful. I will be back to see more! Lovely place to spend an afternoon.

The permanent collection is good as well. I did not love the order of the tour, but I figured that out quickly. The cafe served lunch til 3. The Stock Show was going on across the street, so I gave myself plenty of time to find parking- got a spot in the museum lot, no fee! There are 2 other world class museums less than 3 blocks away and other nice restaurants within a half mile.
