Update They is an obvious change in chef since some months back. The food is not what is used to be. The first time I gave it the benefit if the doubt everyone has bad days. But the last time our family went my daughter asked for grilled fish and it was black and completely charred, all one could taste was the burnt fish and an excessive amount of salt. Completely unedible so we brought it to our waitress s attention. We have been long time customers and I never had this experience there before. We normally get Claudia who is always very pleasant and welcoming. This older white haired lady however was snappy and extremely rude. She was unpleasant throughout the entire ordeal and took it back. A few moments later she returned saying the whole staff in the back tasted it and it was completely fine , which I highly doubt as the dish remained intact. She snapped and told us we will still pay for it, which we had no problem with. I calmly asked if i can please order a different item for my daughter and we finished our meal, paid and left. That was the last time we have and ever will step into this restaurant. Best of luck to the owners as they are really sweet and friendly people. Unfortunately their staff will be the downfall of this place. I ve seen less and less cars in their parking lots as we drive past them on Berry St. It is a bit sad to see the once packed business and go-to restaurant so empty and quiet these days, we ve have many good memories there.

Ive driven past this place for years, too many to count, actually. We were looking for a place to get a quick bite, and our old go-to on Hemphill is now closed. I suggested we try La Tortilandia, and we are both so glad I did. Starting off, plenty of parking, which is nice, but you could see where it could get full. The outside of the building is a little plain, but I think that adds to the character. The inside was open, clean, bright, and very welcoming. Staff immediately brought us menus, took our drink order, and had chips and salsa there before the drinks (always a plus). The chips were good, and the salsa was surprisingly spicy. It was very, very tasty. We ordered a cup of queso, and then chicken tostadas for my wife, and I had the bistec con papas. The queso was delicious, and the plates were big and fantastic. As we ate, my appreciation of this restaurant continued to go up, to the point I said it was going to be put into our regular rotation (high praise indeed). The food was plentiful, staff was very attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was more than festive. Regrettably, there was a mariachi band that came in halfway through our meal, but they didnt play anything. Maybe next time. 9/10 Will absolutely be back!

We loved coming here to eat all the time, but unfortunately today will be the last time! I ordered food on the phone. I asked for ceviche with only fish and oysters. They gave me a little bit of fish and a ton of octopus. That is not what I asked for. When I called I spoke with Karina who took my order. She insisted that she asked me if I wanted pulpo. When I talked to her on the phone I told her I only wanted fish and oysters. I didn t even get any oysters at all! I had company coming over which is why I asked for something quick to go. I paid $20 for this cup for it to not only be wrong but the lady insisting that I ordered the wrong thing when I specifically said I only wanted fish and oysters. I can t come back by tonight because I have guests so this is a huge inconvenience. And to top it off she didn t give me a receipt. When I asked to speak to a manager she stayed quiet on the phone and when I asked again she said she is the manager. Absolutely ridiculous! I even tipped her on the to go order for her to be so rude. It s such a shame because I really enjoyed coming here. Terrible management.

I have been here once before and it was a great. Yesterday I decided to get some food to go on my way home from seeing my nephew. I did not call it in, so I had a margarita while I waited for my food. I ordered the combo fajitas to go and payed extra for chips and salsa ( that should be included with the meal, especially since I had a margarita while I waited.) When I got home and looked at the food I was upset. I literally probably got an entire pound of cooked onions with about 4 slices of chicken and 4 slices of steak. Spent $45 dollars for maybe a 8oz of meat, chips and salsa and a marg. Not coming impressed.

This place has pretty awful service, and the food is short of impressive. 50 dollars for a meal for 2 people, but the food is bland. I wont be coming back. I ordered the sour cream enchiladas, but they just werent anything special of anything Id crave to eat. PLEASE check your check before you pay. Me and my wife went there for Cinco de Mayo. We dine in at the bar. My wife ordered a margarita on the rocks. It was very, very sweet with minimal taste of alcohol in it my wife then ask for a extra shot of Silver tequila She then poor her a shot for gold tequila instead so my wife can place it in her margarita but the sweetness of the mango was too strong I was very disappointed in my order. I order chicken burrito the burrito was only fajita chicken stuff and wrapped in a soft tortilla .there wasn t any cheese on it no guacamole, no sour cream no pico de Gallo no lettuce just side of rice and beans it was very dry Again, we sat at the bar and in that 40 minutes of us being there no one checked on us No one refilled our water cups or anything I had to literary standup and wave my hands just for someone to come so I could receive my check and a to go box The atmosphere was great, but the service and food was terrible. I would not be returning back.

I never thought Im going to make a bad review about this place after 10 years come here. My family of three came to eat dinner after driving 45 minutes all the way from Dallas . It is Monday the place was empty, as soon I star placing my order the server (ABRIL).. LET YOU KNOW THIS IS WHY MY BAD EXPERIENCE. She took the order.. appetizer and drinks on point, 3 people and she brought only one plate of the order . 15 min later we asked her for the other plates, another 15 min didnt bring another plate.... This was just a nightmare.

I m giving this a 3 star because last time we were there Karina was amazing. She checked on us multiple times. Made sure our food was good, our drinks were filled. She cared. Today we went there and she wasn t our waitress and we were bummed but understood. But I regret never asking for her. We had an elder lady in a black shirt at the bar and was the worst service ever. She came to us to get our order/drink order and gave us our food that was it. (Only had 1 drink! That s it. Not an offer for another drink a water nothing!!!)I had to flag her down because our poppers were fridge cold. Not warm at all!!!! fridge cold. When I told her to touch it and fill it, she did and agreed how cold it was and she said she would get fresh ones. It took longer for those poppers to come back out than 2 meals and an appetizer to come out. All while we were sitting there with empty cups and her talking with employees and rolling silverware. When we weren t getting service to even get our drinks filled I was done. I got up and went to the register to cash out. She came and started giving excuses and tried to give me a meal for free which I gave her another $20 and said that s not what I complain about. I want good service when I go to a restaurant. She tried to explain why she didn t help us and said she didn t help us because the poppers were made again they were warm and not hot. (How did she know idk) so the kitchen making cold food is the reason she didn t refill our drinks. I told her even The beer on tap was hot. She said many people have complained about that. Soooooo why are you still serving it??????? As I paid for all of my food including the hot beer, cold poppers and bad service she tried to give me the poppers which I refused because I believe they where touched by her and probably just microwave to a serving temperature. All this being said and done ask for Karina. The food is usually good and Karina has amazing service skills. The poppers were a small portion on the complaint the service is just horrible with the elder lady in black shirt. Honestly ask for Karina and you will not be disappointed unless you get Modelo on tap or the combo which has the poppers. Other than that Karina s amazing . older lady in black shirt shouldn t be in the food industry.

Horrible The service had never been there and the day I went I ordered some nachos, they were three pieces of tortillas with three pieces of chicken, I paid 17 dollars and they took forever. About 20 minutes to give me the order, all the employees were sitting cutting a cake and in the kitchen you just saw a person working very slowly, I dont recommend it, I dont like it, the service is very slow

This place serves great food but horrible service. We normally order to go. When dinning we were given our menus and forgotten about. The table that sat down 10 min after us was getting their orders taken, and we didnt even get complementary chips. The table next to us had one person there, and he was served without having his entire party at the table. I will NOT eat there again. Again, the food is great. Just dine in service needs some work. Update: My mother wanted a new place to go, and despite my disapproval, my husband decided to come back here. Again, takeout is so much better than dining in. My mothers eggs were extremely salty, and bacon was not it.

This is the 2nd time eating here. First time, everything was amazing. This time around, not so much. My husband asked for eggs and steak, and it was more like beef jerky. Then, after sipping a bit of coffee, we found a small roach crawling on the creamer dispenser. We didn t make a scene as it is not our style. We also ate, reluctantly. When we paid, the cashier didn t even look us in the eye and seemed to be distracted. We didn t get an apology or anything about the roach. Don t get me wrong, I m not looking for a free meal, but an apology or acknowledgment would have been nice: hence the review. The waiter was great. That is all.

The first time I went, a cockroach appeared under my plate and it made me sick and I didnt eat anymore. Two years later I gave them another chance and yesterday I went and got some fajitas and the shrimp were spoiled and then when I was already dying The restaurant had another cockroach on the side of the table, I tried to be understanding the first time but I dont recommend this place, its too dirty. Dont pay any drama, I left a tip to the waitress but please dont go to this place.

I hate to say it but this place has really let me down. I ordered food to go, went to pick up, and got home to notice that I got someones order. I spoke to the manager there and he specifically told me he would make it right and get it ready for me to go. When I got home after picking upcorrected order, it again was wrong. The food is good BUT not only did the prices go up but now they charge for having tortillas with your breakfast and they DO NOT tell you about this extra charge until after you have eaten so you are stuck paying for tortillas that SHOULD come with the meal, this is not good for their business so will most likely will NOT RETURN to this restaurant

The first time I went, they treated me well, but when they gave me my order I asked for sauce and the man who charged me told me that the cake was already there and it was not true and well, I saw this as wrong, that the man would deny me the sauce if he does not give extra sauce. He would have charged me, but he stated that my order already contained it and it wasnt like that. I still believed that the customer is always right but this time it wasnt.

I came with my friend and we loved the menudo it was soo delicious, also the atole con pan was very good I absolutely loved coming here definitely authentic Mexican food here!!! And its small place but it definitely is very cozy and the service was amazing! Thank you! I will definitely come back soon and I definitely recommend this place for sure!

I went there about 2 weeks ago and I asked the waiter if the Al pastor tacos were made with actual pork meat or pork skin and she said she didnt know she went to ask the manager and the manager came back and spoke to me in Spanish which is not professional because I wasnt speaking Spanish they need to wait until the customer speaks Spanish. Anyway the worst part was that he told me he didnt know what piel de cerdo or pellejo de cerdo is and then asked me in a rude way if Ive eating at his restaurant. Worts customer service by him. The waiter did an ok job hence she was the only waiter there. The $1.35 tacos are too small and have barely any meat. I recommend Los Taco Hs, there tacos are $1.99 each but theyre loaded and on Tuesday theyre $1.25 each but they only have chicken, pastor and carnitas for the Tuesday special. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AT LA TORTILANDIA

I love this place, everyone is so courteous and friendly, i typically visit at least once a week for their delicious street tacos! I also love the chicken enchiladas and migas when Im there for breakfast! Their margaritas are delicious as well!
