My husband and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Maie Day Steak House after hearing rave reviews on KLBJ The Morning Show with Matt, Bob, and Chuy. They particularly highlighted their prime rib, which is exactly what we were looking forward to trying. Upon our arrival, we were immediately taken by the restaurants beautiful ambiance. The inviting atmosphere, complemented by the mouthwatering aroma of open flames and delicious food, set the stage for a great evening. Every member of the staff was incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home. We promptly ordered the prime rib, excited to see what all the buzz was about. However, within minutes, the manager approached our table with a surprising and commendable announcement: he informed us that the prime rib was not up to their standards and that they couldnt serve it to us that evening. Instead, he encouraged us to choose another dish from the menu. We opted for the ribeye, and let me tell you it was nothing short of amazing! Each bite was juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor; dare I say, it was the best ribeye Ive had in a long time. What truly impressed us was the exceptional customer service. The manager not only comped our entire meal, but he also presented us with a $100 gift card for our next visit to try the prime rib when it s back to their standards. This level of integrity and commitment to quality is rare in the restaurant industry, and it truly speaks volumes about Maie Day Steak House. Overall, our experience at Maie Day was fantastic, making for an unforgettable date night. I cant wait to return and savor the prime rib that is clearly worth the wait. Thank you, Maie Day, for an amazing dinner and a wonderful evening!

Bree served us very well. Celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary at Maie Day was a great choice by my husband. Great menu, choice of wines, atmosphere, and location. Don t miss out on sampling the salad and prime rib shavings with horseradish accompanied by Yorkshire Pudding. The catch of the day was prepared perfectly. We ll be back!

Maie Day offers a delightful dining experience in a prime location. The interior sets the mood with its dark, atmospheric ambiance, creating an inviting environment for patrons. While the overall aesthetic is pleasing, the establishment could benefit from an upgraded air conditioning system to ensure optimal comfort throughout the dining area. Despite this minor drawback, the restaurants attractive setting contributes significantly to its appeal. The culinary offerings at Maie Day are a testament to the kitchens skill, though the fare leans towards the heavier side. Standout dishes include the excellently prepared half chicken and the flavorful hamachi crudo, both showcasing the chefs expertise. The appetizers and desserts also shine, bookending the meal with delightful tastes. While the richness of the food might not suit all palates, those who appreciate indulgent flavors will find much to savor here. Maie Days combination of appealing ambiance and satisfying cuisine makes it a solid choice for a memorable dining experience.

From the moment we walked into Maie Day, we were greeted by Kierra, whose sweet and helpful demeanor truly made a difference in our dining experience. Her smile could lighten the darkest room, and her passion for what she does shined brightly as she explained the menu to us. Kierra alone set the bar high, and the food only needed to be half as good as her to impress us but boy, was the food exceptional! We started with the World Famous Crab Claws which were a delightful blend of garlic, parsley, and brown butter, served with housemade potato rolls. The Grilled Oysters with bourbon-barbecue butter were another standout, bursting with flavor. For our main course, we indulged in the **16 oz Ribeye** and the 8 oz Tenderloin , both cooked to perfection and seasoned with Jacobsen salt and beef tallow. The ambiance at Maie Day is cozy and inviting, with a quirky setup that adds to its charm. The sprays of dried and drying flowers give it a shabby chic touch, making it feel both elegant and convivial. Its the perfect spot for a special occasion or a casual night out with friends. We cant wait to come back and slowly make our way through the rest of the menu. Each visit promises to be a delightful experience, thanks to the incredible staff and the mouthwatering dishes. Thank you, Maie Day, for a memorable evening!

The food was fine. Our server however, was so standoffish and rude it was shocking! He maybe said about 5 words to us and we also waited a good 15 minutes for the check after finishing eating. We had to actually ask someone else for assistance. The menus are extremely difficult to read in the low light setting (white paper + light-colored, small font). I m not sure if the dining room is always so smoky but it was truly too much for comfort. For $190 there are much better places to eat where the waitstaff wont snub you. Wow absolutely amazing food, vibe and exceptional service. Started with an incredibly kind maître d who saved me a seat at the bar on a Friday w a phone call and no rezzie. I love welcoming restaurants who aren t precious and can accommodate anyone, anytime. The menu is beautiful balanced with veggie options and fun takes on nostalgic like a blooming onion. We ordered ribeye, cream greens, cesar and the chocolate cake everything was perfectly presented, beautifully seasoned, cooked as ordered, incredibly delicious and overall perfection. Nothing was over salted per other review and I m primarily a raw vegan so my taste buds are very precise and particular. I was inspired to try this place from their opening photography and vibrant food styling everything was even better than expected and served the way you d dream which is very rare. The overall decor and vibe of the restaurant is beautifully finished with glimmering moments of light and color, especially during golden hour. I still can t believe how delicious the cesar salad was, and the very best chocolate cake I ve ever had in my life both dishes flavors and execution resonated with me so much I can still taste each bite while writing this post. Certainly a new favorite local spot I m sure to return to and also invite family/friends.

We arrived early and decided to hang out at the bar. We have always been given great service at the bar but unfortunately when we brought my family, (a four top) the service was lacking. Our server was not aware of the menu at all and stopped at our table three times in two hours. The atmosphere was loud to a point where my parents couldn t hear us across the table which is not what we have experienced before. The food was good but not something I would again spend $600 to attend. We regularly eat at nice restaurants and are not afraid of the price tag but for food that s on par with tons of well priced places the service and atmosphere lacked Hard.

I saw articles about Maie Day and some amazing Instagram worthy photos, so thought we would try this place out. Made a reservation for 4 on a Friday night. We were seated in the corner off shoot area by a window so the atmosphere was different from the rest of the restaurant where the open fire grill and the bar were. The service was great and our waiter recommended some good dishes. We ordered the crab dip, crab claws, potato bread, half loaded fries, Mac and cheese, prime rib, and chicken. None of the dishes were instagram worthy like the ones initially saw when Maie Day opened. The crab claws were super small and visually not stunning. But it tasted good with the garlic butter dipping sauce. The crab dip came out next and was decent with the hush puppies. I was expecting more flavor. The potato bread was moist and delicious and came with something like honey butter with salt crystals. This was our favorite appetizer. The loaded fries were nothing to write home about. They tasted decent. We really liked the prime Rib and the Mac and cheese. Those were our favs for the entree part. The prime rib had a healthy serving - 16oz. The chicken was okay. For dessert, we really enjoyed the chocolate cake. It was nice to try this place and we had fun on our double date.

I feel like I need to set the record straight. I saw a ton of dodgy reviews for this place - but my experience (just a ribeye, glass of Malbec and fries) was on point. Steak was absolutely perfect. Pricey - ($70) but really good! Not sure what everyone is whining about - but maybe I got a good night. Would return!

I m in 2 minds about Maie Day. On one hand the Ola s biscuits were astonishingly good, never thought it possible but it was a perfect cross between a scone (yes yes ok my Texan friends, fine a biscuit ) and a croissant, with honey butter and the perfect among of salt. Just wow! On the other hand we didn t eat any other dishes so I don t have a balanced view on the food, and the service was offhand & a bit rude, so I didn t feel super welcome even though the place wasn t exactly full. They could have done a better job on that front. Giving them the benefit of the doubt ends up at a 4, although I can believe some of the 3 star ratings below if the rest food is not quite up to scratch

Totally meh- food was nothing to write home about. I m amazed at how busy it was for such meh food; total tourist trap. More than likely won t be coming again but I m not 100% ruling it out since the pitfalls could have been due to it being very busy. A friend and I both had the brunch plate- It was just fine; I ll say that the hash brown and eggs were probably my favorite items. We had oysters to start with, which were good except that the mignonette was waaaaayyy over Tobasco d. Totally not worth the nearly 2 hours we were there for very, very simple food.

I ordered 3 items to go. I go to pick it up and walk back to my hotel room to find out they forgot the large Mac n Cheese. They didnt make it apparently so I had to wait in the lobby for 30 more minutes. No apology. Just handed me the bag and ran off before I could say anything. No napkins, no silverware, no free dessert and no discount. The worst part was waiting 30 min and coming back to cold food. Thanks guys.

In a word, overpriced, unless you think a $60 pork chop without sides is reasonable. Two dried out cornbread muffins that crumble when touched for $6. The worst insult was an order of crab claws that were oily and tiny and hardly resembled the large succulent claws depicted on their website. All in all a mediocre experience with some remarkably awful items united only by being overpriced. My suggestion, save the aggravation and go to Roaring Fork for a 40% savings.

(Lets say 3.5 stars) Ive been wanting to try this place out for a while as its within walking distance for me. I usually like to Congress happy hour style (if you know what i mean) but this place has an early happy hour. The husband and I finally had an afternoon where we could make it to their early happy hour so here we go.... Crab Dip- ordered by waitress recommendation I would say she is right...this is a good dish. Not too crabby in flavor and crab was nicely shredded for a nice dip. Squash hushpuppy was a nice way to sneak veggies into our kids tummies as you couldnt even tell squash was hiding in there. Just wish portion size was bigger. Especially for $25. Raw oysters - good quality oysters. Just know it comes as 6 for the $24. Smoked Fish Dip - Its a gamble when you order smoked fish (lol) but in fact this dip was not too smokey and not too fishy at all. It was a bit onion heavy but still trumped the Crab Dip in flavor in my eyes. The house Ritz crackers were a good concept but a little overly toasted flavor this batch (not sure if thats how they normally like it cooked). So, I normally dont like to let cost play a factor in my reviews because trust me, I will pay good money for good food. But for this happy hour feast - cost to flavor to portion ratio was way off.

Maie Day is another recently opened restaurant in Austin that has increased the awareness that we are a city to be reckoned with when it comes to the food game. We thoroughly enjoyed the lively ambiance (although, it is a tad too loud), the delicious food and the attentive service we received from Olivia. To be clear, I have dined at restaurants in L.A. that have actual community seating with long tables that are not separated, so I was a little confused when we entered Maie Day as the tables are long and could be connected, but they are not. So, I think community for them, means ton of tables in a shared space with no booths or private seating and also the shared plate theory. The plates are huge and all are meant to be shared, so if you come with a party of 2, you will not have the option to try multiple dishes. However, for parties of 4 and larger, you have more options as we did. We started with the smoked fish dip with homemade ritz crackers and let me say that I wish these ritz crackers were the ones sold in stores. They were so good, but they only give you 4 crackers for a good amount of dip so we requested more and noticed they charged us an additional $3! The crab claws are served with a small piece of crusty bread for dipping in the sauce which could have used a tad bit more garlic and butter. We used to love the blooming onion at Outback Steakhouse so, for nostalgia reasons, we had to order it and it was really, really good. Again, they skimped on the sauce and we were charged an additional $1.50 for extra sauce. For our main meal, we chose the butterflied n grilled fish (red snapper), prime rib, grilled mushrooms, loaded baked potato and Texas chocolate cake. For spirits, we chose a bottle of Tempranillo and it went with all of our food choices. Although it was a tad annoying to be nickled and dimed for the extras without prior disclosure, I now know what I am in for when we visit again.

Love the idea of this place, and the service was great. As for the food it d probably be cheaper (all in) and a lot tastier to buy a plane ticket, fly to New York and eat at Sylvia s in Harlem. I m not sure who came up with the prices here. Maybe they are just trying to rake in the money before they realize only the tourists will enjoy their bad take on soul food.

A little puzzled at the mixed reviews here, as this is a pretty straightforward, unassuming place, and you can see that from the moment you walk in. Nothing particularly hip or cosmopolitan about this place (unlike its sister spot Olamaie downtown), just decent fare heavy on the comfort/steakhouse end of the spectrum. Fine locally sourced meats were well prepared and flavored, the appetizers and sides tasty, the cocktails and wine list excellent, and the service friendly and prompt. Worth a visit if you are not on a diet

A very tasty surprise. We had the crab dip with truly perfect hush puppies, a ribeye, mushrooms, mac n cheese, and the cheesecake. Additionally we had two cocktails. Tab was north of $200. The food itself had great texture and seasoning. Was a little disappointed our main entree wasn t warm but the temp didn t affect the texture and didn t seem to take long to come. Removing a star for the sound level. Service was great but really hard to hear. In fact, we could barely hear each other while sitting across the table from one another. The music was overtly too loud and there seems to be nothing in the space to balance the acoustics. It was so bad that we got our dessert to go just to get out of the oppressive loudness of a Saturday night. All said, would be happy to return. Their appetizer selection looked intriguing and we may just have to visit on a less busy evening.

Somehow I ve missed writing a review about Maie Day. Each time I ve visited, it s not been terribly busy as the restaurant has ample space both inside, bar and patio seating. We took advantage of the cool night and stopped by for dessert and cocktails. If you have a chocolate craving do yourself the favor and get the cake. I don t even like chocolates or sweets really and it s probably the BEST chocolate cake I ve ever eaten. In fact it s one that I ll probably compare every chocolate cake to. The staff are some of the nicest and welcoming people you ll find any restaurant. The cocktails are amazing, there s a really nice cbd one that will have you pain free/worry free in no time; they have a two drink maximum on those. And if I haven t convinced you about the cake yet, I m wanted to mention it again since I can t get it off my mind.

We came in on a whim at 9:15 on a tuesday I got home after work. We didnt feel like we were causing a major inconvenience for the staff despite our arrival 40 minutes before close, which was nice. We had the crab claws (amazing), caesar salad (sour, but thats how I like it), loaded fries, funeral potatoes, green beans and the ribeye. Nothing was oversalted. The ribeye was a bit plain but was cooked perfectly. The funeral potatoes blew my mind. PRO TIP* We took the butter sauce from the crab claws home and made a pasta sauce out of it with the leftover steak. INCREDIBLE. The crab claw sauce was the star. We will be back!

I had high hopes of this place. The only thing that hit the spot was the local beer selection and the extremely friendly bartender. Over-salted is the word of the day here. Both Caesar salad and Tartare were barely edible due to this. Bloomin Onion was decent but I ve had better at Outback. Cobb Salad was an eclectic mix but also not very enjoyable to pick through. We decided to call it quits after these lackluster appetizers. The space was vibey - but the main dining room gets pretty loud so if you go - sit at the bar (at least you get the best part of the place right there)
