The food was excellent, cooked to perfection, the chefs deserve a raise! My Cali/Louisiana raised husband is so picky about his food most times, but he loves Abuelos! Last but not least, we received phenomenal service from LaDera... so kind, patient and knowledgeable, she treated us like royalty for my birthday/our 4th anniversary....give her a double raise! Came here for a weekday lunch with my 86 year old grandmother and we both loved it so much! Our server was LaDera and she was amazing. Attentive, friendly, understanding of my grandmothers questions and requests, and just a pleasure. As a restaurant manager myself I tend to pay close attention to the condition of facilities when I go out as well and this location was immaculate, including every inch of the restroom.

We had to send a whole plate of enchiladas back because they were all made with stale tortillas or something. The flour tortillas we ordered were also stale and not fresh like normal. A basket of the chips were soggy. Definitely not up to their normal quality standards. The person Im assuming was the manager only came to the table to tell ask us if we needed anything else before the kitchen closed but never offered apologies for low quality food or anything else.

I have never been to a most raciest restaurant ever we are in 2024 and that is just crazy from the jump the waiter ignored us not having chips in our table decided to bring a plate which was gluten free steak which was medium rare we had ordered well done from the Jump and I asked for a manager which all he said was we can take the steak you got and put it back on the grill that is cross contamination I stated he said not really yikes I hope everyone he is aware that if you have a wrong food or the meat is not to cooked they will take the same food you have and put it with everyone s else s food

Great place, convenient location. Staff was on point and drinks were always refreshed. Chips and salsa kept full. Restroom was clean and sized adequately, with clean changing station! Parking: This location is at a local mall. Great place to hang out at the bar and watch the game while the wife shops! Great food and comfortable atmosphere. Kid-friendliness: Staff helpful in getting the infant we have with us settled and comfortable.

I was not impressed with my dishes. Some in our party liked theirs, but my opinion is way too much cheese and not the good kind. My opinion again is that it was more TexMex, not anything authentic. My dish was Chile Relleno and an Enchilada.... I will say the guacamole was delicious! Our server was excellent. She kept sodas and teas refilled as soon as they were empty. She worked hard for our group of 7. Smiling and efficient! Also, the hostess was friendly and engaging!

The menu selections available are awesome. The flavor just aint there. Even the texture of a perfectly medium prepared medallion tenderloin had me wondering what the heck I was eating. The bacon wrapped shrimp were great. The nachos were awesome and well-suited for a great starter for a large table. They serve coke so thats a huge plus. My bartender was great and wasnt nagging or trying to do too much which is so much appreciated. Ill go again but I def learned quickly just a simple addition of a little salt got the actual product a bit closer to the expected flavors I hoped for.

Just not as good as it used to be. I didnt finish my enchiladas and my husband thought I was ill. Just wasnt tasty. They over and under cooked the tortillas - - dry edges I couldnt cut with my fork and seemed mushy in the middle. The beef had a weird taste, not harmonizing like it used to. The queso topping was OK but nothing great either. Had more heat than flavor. I am hoping this is a one off thing bc I used to love to eat here. I LOVE the ambiance. It is peaceful, calming, and quiet, unlike many Mexican restaurants. My husband didnt like it either but said his taco salad was OK. The server was just OK, but to be fair, he had the entire front end to work. And no, I didnt say anything bc it looked fresh and was OK. Just not the great taste it was. Step it up Abuelos.

They are very accommodating when you ask them to make the food a certain way. The waiter was very quick and easy to get their attention. Was not very enthusiastic about the job but they got it done. The worst service! We were waiting and when we entered we decided to go to the patio. It was the afternoon so it seemed like not much was happening. The three table chip dips received at the start of the meal were excellent. The vegetarian chile rellenos were very good but the one with the cheese sauce seemed a little bit too Velveeta-ey to me. Ive had them before and dont recall that to be the case in the past. We had Abuelo s in Fort Worth cater my mom s birthday party with 75 guests.They arrived early and did a beautiful job setting up the food. The service was fantastic and the food was excellent. The manager Chad was incredible. He was accommodating professional, and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Abuelos to cater your event. I will definitely be using them in the future.

We ate here on Sunday June 3rd at noon. The food was good as usual, however the server as really bad. First she brought our tea with hardly any ice, when i asked for a glass of ice she screwed her face up. Then she proceed to not check on us until the meal was finished and she presented us with the check. A $50 lunch and no service is unacceptable. I dont know if there has been a change in management, but something is wrong. We have eaten here many times without any issues. We are sorely disappointed.

Got mansplained about steak temperature. My girlfriend s steak was blue/rare when she ordered medium rare and my tenderloin was medium well when I ordered medium rare. So it took double as long to get the good correct. The beans were as crusty as pandoras men s club on a Sunday morning. The taste was good but the management should have just taken the food and fixed it with out trying to educate steak temperature. Which by the way he explained incorrectly. Our poor waitress was super nice but not the brightest in the bunch. How was everything but the food well my Ice water is great thanks ???? Abuelos on Hulen. Party of 6. My granddaughter birthday dinner. Service could not be better. Our waiter WAS busy with other tables. However, he attended to our every need. Drink refils, extra plates for sharing, no mistakes on our order, speed wow for as busy as they were - our meal came out HOT and quick. We invited him to share birthday cake and he did. The guacamole had great flavor and texture. Most restaurants mess it up by making it too creamy and flavorless. The salad I ordered was perfection. Such a great place for delicious mexican cuisine! I love the atmosphere inside, it feels like fine dining. The prices are still reasonable for the amount of food you are getting. Lunch at Abuelo s Mexican Restaurant - A Pleasant Surprise After wrapping up our errands at Hulen Mall, my husband and I, driven by a spontaneous hunger, decided to try out Abuelo s Mexican Restaurant. The decision, influenced by the positive reviews we read, proved to be a delightful one. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and our preference for a table in the bar area was graciously accommodated. The service started on a high note with our waitress, Vanessa, who was not only extremely pleasant but also instrumental in guiding my menu choice - a touch I particularly appreciated. My husband kicked things off with an El Jefe Margarita. The drink, which I admittedly sampled more than once, was a refreshing twist on the classic margarita, enhanced by a grilled orange slice and Agavero Orange Liqueur - a delightful deviation from the norm. Before delving into our main courses, we indulged in the chips and salsa trio. The Salsa Tropical, with its unique blend of tomatillos and pineapples, was particularly delightful. The Salsa Especial packed a lot of flavors, and, finding the Salsa Roja a tad bland, I found myself mixing the two for a perfect balance. For my meal, I opted for an appetizer as my entrée, choosing the Green Chile Quesadilla on Vanessas recommendation (Thank you again, Vanessa). The blend of chiles, mushrooms, and onions was a flavorful journey, although a bit more cheese would have been welcome to balance the filling. My husband, meanwhile, settled on the Fajita Trio - a combination of Angus beef, chicken, and barbecue shrimp. The fajitas were satisfyingly good. However, there was a slight textural oddity with the beef, possibly due to the cut or the thin slicing, that felt unusual but didnt detract from the overall enjoyment of the meal. Our lunch experience at Abuelo s was marked by great service and good food. It stands out as an excellent choice for a casual meal, managing to deliver a satisfying dining experience without being overly pretentious. Abuelo s, in our experience, handles the essentials of a good Mexican meal with commendable proficiency.

We love abuelos but had a horrible experience. Our food came out wrong 3 times! Dessert was served cold, so they warmed it up which took another 20 mins! Manager acting like no big deal.

today is December 6, 2023, approximately 5:24 PM. I went in there to eat dinner and the young lady her name was Brianna was very nice. I told her I was allergic to onions and she went and spoke to the manager and the manager came out and went over everything with me that did not have onions on it to be able to make sure that I was able to eat a good meal. I want to say thank you so very much you do not find this type of service anywhere anymore. Brianna went way beyond to be able to make sure that I was able to eat comfortably and so did the manager. Thank you so much. I will definitely be coming back to this location to eat again.

We ordered this evening and had Uber delivery. The food was amazing. I wanted something delicious while watching the Dallas Cowboys Game from home. Abuelos was perfect and very delicious. Enchiladas were awesome.

My family and I love Abuelos. So much so we invited friends to join us for lunch. I was very disturbed and disappointed at the level of service provided to us by Cody. My friend ordered beef enchiladas with chlie con queso sauce and instead got cheese enchiladas not beef. When Cody was made aware that the order was wrong, (now you think my friend had the right to get upset). Cody got upset and insisted the order was correct but he could change the order. I could not believe the level of disrespect. To keep the mood light we all decided to disregard his ignorant, uncaring lack of customer service and enjoy our time together. However, I cannot let it go unknown to all who may read this. If you go to Abuelos ask what section Cody is working and ask to be seated somewhere else. And Cody just so you know hospitality etiquette, the customer is always right. My friend was friendly never got an attitude or in anyway tried to demean you even after you said you placed the right order...which by the way sorry to tell you this, you were wrong the order was beef enchiladas in a chile con queso sauce we all heard it. I hope the manager at Abuelos reads this and helps Cody refine his table waiting skills.

I will say the food is so delicious thankful for that, our waitress seemed exhausted had some compassion for her I totally understood well I ve been there and done that however my daughter wasn t feeling her best and some of the staff were making mean faces even the environment like she is a baby. How is she supposed to react? It s hard enough knowing she s not feeling well makes it harder is people making faces at a baby! It doesn t cost anything to just be kind we live in a world that s already filled with negativity the fact this place has great reviews but the staff lacked compassion. Making mean faces at a child says a lot about a person s character

Service and food was phenomenal. Robert was extremely friendly and explained the menu and each item as it came out. Our server truly made our experience 10x better. It s rare to find people who seem to enjoy their job and he was extremely kind. Sea bass and chimichanga were made perfectly. We will be back!

I went here yesterday with my boyfriend s mother to go dress shopping for a wedding we re going to, and it was awesome. I had never been here before but the service was absolutely excellent. We started off with one server and they did a shift change shortly after we arrived, and the new server came and introduced himself immediately and appeared to be super knowledgeable about the food and even helped my boyfriend s mom out by making a suggestion for her order to make it cheaper and still get everything she wanted! The beverages were absolutely awesome, the server kept out drinks filled the whole time, and I had zero complaints about taste. I would absolutely come eat here again.
