Went through Ms Barr for a custody case. I wanted a protective order for my son because of the abuse he was experiencing by his stepfather (Gun involved with text proof of admission ) but was told I couldnt do that. She recommended me someone specific she knew as an ad Litem attorney for my son who turned out to be rude and hard to get a hold of once I payed for their service. Ms Barr Would tell me I needed to contact the ad litem Attorney directly with questions I had. But then would be told by the ad Litem attorney that I couldn t talk with him and need to go through my attorney for any Communication between me and him (ad litem). She made it very confusing and discouraging at times. I just now received the CPS report years later backing up everything my son was saying but now to late because It was settled in mediation but not the outcome I was expecting . I feel like this law firm and the system in general has failed my son and in debt to this day over it all.

The Harris law firm booked me an appointment for a free consultation then totally blew me off. I made the appt on a Friday for the following Weds at 4p. On the next Tuesday at 6:11pm I got a random text to confirm my appt. I did not see until 1:32pm the day of but I still confirmed it. Got a text to fill out my intake form sent to the email, which was the wrong email. So at 2:18 day of I got the email. I was working so I did not submit it until 10 mins before the appt. It s an excessively detailed and inconvenient intake form. You need time to do it as well because it me like 20 minutes. Anyways 15 minutes later I m still waiting for the call. It was 5 past so I decided to try to give a call to the office. No answer. If you need someone dependable I definitely recommend a better law firm. I am in eastern time zone with a case in Texas.

I worked with Summer Chappell and Mr. Harris. My experience was wonderful. He was honest about everything from the start. If he had any doubts, he let me know. Communication with Summer was excellent. When she was out of the office, Amanda handled everything quickly as well. There were no hidden charges, they were upfront about the cost from day 1. I actually tried to represent myself and had no clue what I was doing and they cleaned up the mess I made and got me an outcome I would have never dreamed of. Genevieve Barr. Stay away from this firm. Paid in full retainer, went to court one time and talked on the phone maybe a handful of times, the rest were ignored. After she said she reviewed my case and told me it was an easy custody case, she said I didn t have a leg to stand on once she got her money. Then at the end after we didn t move from square one, she demanded another $800 to just file the paperwork, otherwise she wasn t gonna file it. I had to negotiate a price I could afford in order for her to even file it. Don t waste your time or money.

I retained Genevive Barr as our court appointed Attorney Ad Litem so I had no choice in the matter. I paid her retainer in full. While I knew we had a tough case and the likelihood of us getting her recommendation was low, I appreciated the due diligence the county was taking in making the best decision for the placement of my daughter. THANK GOD the Judge didnt listen to Genevive Barr and chose to keep my daughter safe. She inaccurately represented information to the judge in her closing arguments so that I was scalded by the Judge for things I did not do and had no way to respond since my turn to speak was over. In our 4 hearings total, she never spoke to me. Only to opposing counsel. She NEVER had a conversation with my ex who she was supposed to be determining if he was a fit father. NEVER even spoke to him. She only had 2 short phone conversations with me and not a single one with my family, friends, or caregivers of my daughter. She explicitly mis-stated FACTS in our case on record to the Judge like amounts paid in child support, quantity of visitations, time father was incarcerated, and more. The main reason you shouldnt hire her...she was scrolling through her iPad and phone during testimonies. Not taking notes. Scrolling through websites. Again, Im not upset that she didnt recommend in our favor. We got a great outcome anyways. My issue is that her job was to take seriously the safety and well-being of my daughter and she failed miserably.

Used this firm to assist with a custody modification in what shouldve been a slam dunk case that couldve been handled with a single hearing. The firm then proceeded to stretch the case out across multiple needless additional court visits over the course of a year for the sole purpose of racking up billable hours and negotiating with the other party and their attorney along the way, all while keeping the case away from the judge and out of a hearing because it wouldve easily and mercifully have ended should that happen. We began to suspect the attorney was mishandling our case and got to the point we felt continuing to use him was actively sabotaging our chances at the proper outcome. In effort to protect ourselves, we later had our case reviewed by another attorney who explicitly told us based on this firms handling of our case, thats exactly what was happening. Otherwise communication was poor and at times outright callous, and at no point did I or my family ever feel this attorney or his firm were looking out for anyone other than themselves and racking up as many billable hours as possible. This firm will rationalize its attempts to charge hundreds of dollars for simple correspondence as well, from 5 minute phone calls they themselves initiate, to emails no longer than a few sentences and everything in between, so prospective clients beware.

He is a great example of an attorney. He will fight but will also use his intelligence and knowledge to come up with solutions that will benefit not only the mother and father but also the child. Hes not the type to be greedy and not the type to convince you to take all the ex spouses money and life. He cares about the children more which stands out and will do everything in a peaceful and most professional manner. Of course he is also a fighter but a smart one who will find the best solution. Hes not the type that puffs out his chest to intimidate his clients or your ex spouse. He works smart and hard for you. Hes very good at working with difficult situations and helps both parents feel at ease almost like a counselor so he is worth every penny.

If you by any chance are lucky enough to find this law firm, please reach out to them asap. Genevieve handled my divorce with tact and precision. My divorce case took forever and Genevieve handled it with finesse court date after court date. My ex tried everything, even sued me for mortgage during the divorce lol. I had never dealt with the law before and I was so scared and nervous and needed constant reassurance. Both Genevieve and Summer were so amazing and went above and beyond talking to me and advising me and explaining the process to me. I was a nervous emotional wreck and not only did they win my case and get me and my kids what was fair, they also made my case personal and shared all the highs and lows with me. Genevieve was very strategic, straightforward and honest. If you take her advice, trust me, you will be just fine. Let this group of people help you in your most difficult times. When I thought I was finished with my divorce. My ex-husband a couple years later tried to file a lawsuit against me to reduce the the child support and make me pay him a portion of the $10k he owed in child support. I was able to find Mr. Harris through a referral from my previous lawyer since she no longer practiced in Tarrant county. I m very happy with how awesome of a job Mr. Harris did to help get through this struggle. He was kind, assertive, and upmost honest throughout the whole lawsuit. He was able turn the lawsuit around and get my husband to start paying what he owed in child support. I would 10 out of 10 recommend him if you are looking for a good lawyer.

My case overall resolved to where i needed it to be for custody of my daughter but in between court dates it was nearly impossible to get them to answer the phone and explain to me what was going to happen at court and seemed to never get a call back when promised. The first meeting I was told they could finalize a restraining order for my daughter and i within 24 hours which took almost a week. During that week i was not able to take my daughter to daycare due to not having legal protection which didnt seem to speed anything up for them to follow through with their promise. A week before the final court date i had finally gotten a hold of someone with the office to discuss finances. I asked specifically if the upcoming court date would be any additional charge to what i have already paid. They responded by saying no i have already paid for it. A month after the hearing i received a 550$ bill for services that were not discussed with me. The final court hearing consisted of my baby daddy and i agreeing and all Genevieve did was sit there and wait for our papers to be typed up correctly and signed by a judge which took 2 hours so i was then charged 550$ for her time when if known ahead of time it would have cost that much I would not have had any lawyer. I will definitely be recommending to any family friends or even enemies to NOT EVER USE THEM! After the first meeting when they got their money they just put you on a back burner and show up at court with no discussion in between. To finalize i called and spoke with a receptionist about my charges to discuss why i was still being charged when i was told it was already included with what had already been paid and they still had no answers other than they have to charge for their lawyers time. I expressed that i would not be paying for this since i felt cheated through misguided expectations. When coming on here to write a review my account was blocked which is probably the only reason they have 4.5 stars because anyone expressing dislike is most likely blocked from expressing their experience with this money hungry firm.

I was referred to Trey by a friend who knows him personally. I was very disappointed in the services I received. A very important detail was left out of my divorce. After numerous calls and emails, he finally addressed it six months after the divorce was finalized. He said it would be fixed within a month or else he would give me the money out of his pocket. He stopped taking my calls or replying to emails after the promise was made. That conversation was two years ago this month and Im having to explore other legal means to take care of it.

I wish I could give them no stars. Had to withdraw counsel because of non performance. They gave me false promises, avoided phone calls and were not really helpful in pursuing my child support case. The lady attorney Geneviene is rude and has horrible interpersonal skills. I guess you really get what you pay for when it comes to them. I would not reccomend them to any one.
