Went there for dinner, and were disappointed in the food, atmosphere and service. Food was basic, service slow and not friendly, and had the atmosphere of an abandoned Western Sizzlin. This was so much different, for the worse, than the location we used to frequent in Haltom City.

The food is ok, but it is seriously expensive for what it is. Its also pretty dark in there. The staff is always very nice. Been there a few times, its just too expensive, unfortunately. Cost $45 the other day for me and my daughter. We each had a drink, and a breakfast combo that includes one pancake, eggs, sausage, hash browns, and toast. That is a decent amount of food, but still a lot of money.

Bland and overpriced. Breading on chicken had no seasoning, and neither did the gravy it came with. Also, why do they keep putting extremely hot food directly into styrofoam with no barrier. Styrofoam literally melts and adheres to whatever thing is conducting the heat. That is the food itself!

I can t believe that the restaurant was going to charge us $9.00 for a bowl of grits. Can buy two boxes for that price and make them at home I was really ready to go after hearing that. With a name like Dixie what did I expect. The prices are too much for the food you get and what they charge for box cakes is too much. I make homemade cakes and I know the difference.

Cant rate any food because we didnt get any. The prices were outrageous for what you get. This seems like a pretty basic diner with few choices. Sorry, I dont want to pay $8 extra to add 4 slices of bacon to a meal, and a side of hashbrowns is $8, too. The price of a burger was OK, but to add bacon was an extra $5 for 2 strips. If we wanted to ask for an extra plate for any reason, it was $2 extra. If you split the bill, they add an extra 20% to each ticket. Sorry, no, thats ridiculous. Not to mention half the menu is taken up by adds. The atmosphere was cute and the employees seemed nice, but not worth it for the prices.

Id been in the hospital for over a month, and had just come from my first doctors appointment. I had no food in the house, couldnt bear the thought of shopping, so I stopped by Dixie House. I had the CFS while there, then ordered the Pot Roast to take home. Both entrees were divine, and I made 3 meals out of the roast! Tender, and delicious! I couldnt resist the Coconut Cream Pie, and it certainly didnt disappoint. Their sweet tea is also great. I needed some home cooking that day, and if you have a similar craving, I highly recommend Dixie House! If you get there before 5, theres daily specials! Sooooo good! Thanks girls! I wish Id gotten the German Chocolate Cake as well. Next time! Edit! The German Chocolate Cake is to die for!

Was visiting my family and they brought me here on the 4th of July and I thought service would suck being the holiday but every worker there was all smiles and egar to make sure we had the best experience and the food was cooked exactly to order and the waitress actually made sure we were happy with the way the eggs and my sons hamburger were cooked before she walked off after bringing our food to the table and she came back and checked to make sure we were satisfied with the rest of our food before we finished and after we finished and she never failed to make sure our glasses never emptied. I would recommend anyone in this area looking for a good home cooked meal and great service to give the Dixie House Cafe a chance it was great all around!

The first thing you notice is the lack of attentiveness at the front. Had a couple servers walk by, you don t get like a server, people just say do you need something Not one of them asked how was it or anything along that lines The prices are crazy compared to others breakfast eateries so skip this one and head to Ol South or Original pancake house. The pricing doesn t makes themselves special to justify eating here. Well had 4 different server so they didnt know what was ordered or where to go.

It was my first time here. I will say my son, son in law and husband like this place more than I did. First, the server was rude, and even tho she was better toward the end of the visit, I dont understand the point of cooler attitude toward customers as they are seated I didnt care for the taste or appeal of the food, and to top it off, I didnt know, if posted I didnt see it, that they charge a fee to use a credit card. and I didnt realize until I was home reviewing the receipt! Needless to say, my family will return probably, but Ill be sure they take cash. I think I will sit that meal out.!

They dont have alot of options for a vegetarian. And the potatoes were kinda dry, not enough gravy. We were brought rolls but they were placed on a plate with our check, the rolls were sitting on top of our bill ?? Who does that, thats not cool we sent them back and then the butter provided was just nasty. The green beans were to peppery and the salad was just plain and yucky didnt even have any tomatoes and wasnt very crisp. The chicken fried steak sandwich was okay but kinda plain. Probably better with some gravy. And the macaroni & cheese was yucky it had a sorta sweet taste to it and macaroni & cheese shouldnt taste like that. Very disappointing and definitely dont desire to go back. Vegetarian options: Not enough vegetarian options at all.

This was our first time and last time here. I got a vegetable plate and it s was just horrible. It was on a cafeteria style plate and cost $12 but it was very not worth the money we spent. The mashed potatoes were dry and too peppery, the Mac and cheese tasted like literal sugar, the corn was meh, and the butter they gave us was absolutely putrid. To top off my trip here, we were served the bread rolls with our paper check underneath it. Who tf does that? That s just absolutely disgusting and I m pretty sure a health violation. I had to ask for new rolls and it wasn t even an issue to the server. Do not go here.

Server took out order and only returned to serve the food and then drop off the bill.it wasnt super busy and only half ful. $3.50 for a soda is too much. Im grateful for the blessing of being able to pay. My tip was generous in spite of the lackluster service and food. Not on my returning list. My overall review: its ok. I hope this helps them improve their operation. Good luck yall.

Came here late yesterday 5.18.24 for lunch with my Mom and the food was HORRIBLE. The chicken fried steak was OVERbreaded with some old style flour and undercooked ( white....not crispy and browned) MUSHY and SOGGY on the inside and the outside batter was WHITE, STALE and flavorless. The breaded portion was not anywhere near proportioned to the chopped steak inside as the patty was SUPER tiny ( like a small kids hamburger patty from McDonalds..thin and flappy)....it was freshly prepared but not worth serving. The mashed potatoes were one step from being soupy AND there were also bites of uncooked potatoe. The one thing that stood out was that for $15(14.95) the portion of potatoes were a measley 2 tablespoons...in comparison to the subpar over breaded steak. I advised the waitress that i was still hungry and she could see thay I didnt eat much because most of it was all bread and the green beans were SO hot i couldnt eat them with my 4 bites of chicken fried steak because they literally BURNED my mouth......Way TOO DAMNED HOT. Our waitress was verbally combative and attacked us for not agreeing to accept her offer of ONLY a HALF of a chicken fried steak to compensate for the lousy food....with nothing else served. I told her no and she continued to fuss and say the owner died and how dare we complain and write a review based on one bad meal. Mom had porkchops (2) and they were flavorless and she stated that it tasted like the porkchop was boiled before being battered as it was TOUGH and un seasoned. She left it there. This place aint winning no awards anytime soon and I would not suggest coming here...especially with the over tanned, semi- burned face waitress who forgot to take her meds that day!

Gravy looked like it was served with an eye-dropper. Last time I asked for more gravy, they wanted to charge me extra. Cornbread was so hard, I thought I was going to lose a tooth eating it. No wonder there were very few people dining. Makes the drive Benbrook Cafe worth it.

The atmosphere here is drab and very reminiscent of the early 90s. The meatloaf was bland and had large onion skins in it. The tomato sauce top did not help the flavor. The mashed potatoes were cold and really thick, not creamy at all. Mac and cheese reminded me of elementary school and the noodles were very over cooked. My husband said the chicken fried chicken wasn t bad but it was kind of bland. Everything was very over priced - $14 for a side of ham, side of bacon $9. Be careful if you try to order add ons or try to split your check. They charge for that too. There were maybe 3 other tables in there besides us and I couldn t even get my water refilled. I usually do not like to leave poor reviews but I do not think we will be returning here. We were underwhelmed greatly.

Totally changed my previous review. I was in Dixie house 2 weeks back. Service was good. Ordered late breakfast. When served I had a medical emergency and the servers all came to my side helping me and making sure I was alright. One of the ladies gave me instructions on how to resolve my problems. I had to call emergency service and found the suggestion that I was given was good and proper information. Bless these ladies for making sure I was cared for and that I was safe. I had to go to the ER later that day. I went back today and had lunch. The ladies that cared for me remembered me and we had good conversations. These ladies are awesome. Should be nurses. Wonderful place to be.

Very disappointed in this place. Everytime I drove by I ve been wanting to go. So I took family who came from out of town. They were rude, the prices were double then a normal breakfast place. The food was not good at all. Especially for how pricey the menu is. Will not be coming back.

Although the food is still great,(so nostalgic for me) my last two experiences werent what they used to be. Ive been going there since a kid (late 80s to current times). I moved and when Im in town its a must to go. Anyhow, the last two times the energy went from come on in,family to how many, heres your table. Like just another customer type of vibe. Bummer.

I ordered the chicken fried steak with the twice baked potatoes, buttered corn and a dinner roll. It came out super fast, it was extremely hot which I liked having a hot plate of with a nice roll. The price was reasonable. I wish the steak would ve been a little bit bigger. There was a lot of breading on it, but it was a good. I did not order dessert. I did take a look and they did look good. I just thought the price was just a little bit high.

My ratings on food was a hard choice, we were a group of 12 and a few of the people felt the gravy on the mashed potatoes was salty but others didnt, I personally loved my chicken and dressing and my husband loved the meatloaf.

Food was good, prices were too high (food wasnt good enough to warrent the high prices). Wont come back because a single pancake shouldnt cost $8, and a single egg shouldnt be $5. A la carte were outrageous.

Beware! If you have not been here for a month like me, the menu prices have unreasonably skyrocketed!!! One egg is $5.95, one pancake is $7.25, one whole coconut pie is .....wait for it......$45!!! Go to Buttermilk Pie Sky and pick one up for $30 which falls within current prices of whole home-made pies. There was a good breakfast special for $8.99 on the board when you walk in but when I requested it they said it was only until 10:30 in the morning and it was 10:45a.m. even though they serve breakfast all day! At 10:30 a.m. its $8.99 but a few minutes later it costs double to cook the same thing. Cmon people, 12 large eggs at Walmart are $1.22 so thats 11 cents per egg multiply by three to cover labor and overhead and that is 33 CENTS and they want $5.95. This could be perceived by customers as a bit greedy. Please reconsider where pricing should be based on true current costs, competitors costs and the large number of seniors visiting your very outdated restaurant on a daily basis.

Came in to buy a slice of pie and the lady at the counter was rude - just sittin on her phone while I was waiting there no acknowledgment. I started ordering out loud so she finally got off her chair. I asked for two slices of pie - meant to order sugar free coconut and she had a rude attitude about me changing it to sugar free. Rude and unprofessional service. Especially for $7.25/ slice. I ended up leaving without the pie- overrated for just whip cream anyway lol
