Murrell park is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, with trails for hiking and biking, a boat ramp for fishing and boating, and picnic areas for relaxing. While the park can get crowded on weekends, it remains a peaceful retreat during the week. With its beautiful scenery and diverse activities, Murrell Park is a great destination for families and nature lovers alike.

FYI, Its not actually closed, only one part is and its free to get in. What a great spot for hikers and mountain bikers. I hiked loops 1 and 5 and there was very little trash on those trails, which isnt always the case in parks in the area. Theres beautiful scenery and quiet forest groves. Go enjoy it!

The park is free to get it.The hiking and biking are on the same trail along with the lake! It is a nice easy trail with some nice views! Recently it was close when I visited at the weekend (in July?). Seeing on website it will reopen on Aug-10! But look again it seems open for camping :( P/s: the pictures were from the end of February

Great place in Flower Mound to have fun. You have options for biking/walking. You also have options to do picnic. You have access to lake. You can have your own boat or kayak. You can get life jackets too. If you are lucky you may see deer.

One of the best locations for cycling and hiking is right here in Grapevine, Texas. It has a super long off-road hiking trail. Plus, you can go camping, rent a boat, have a BBQ, enjoy a picnic, and even go swimming in Grapevine Lake. Also best sunset view. This place is seriously awesome!

The park is nice. Nice lake views. Northshore trail, not so much. The trail is eroding with every downpour. Soon, it will be nothing but rocks and tree roots. There are no features, and what little berms you find are sketchy at best. You find more features at Riverlegacy or Chisenhall.

Murrell Park is the go-to place for Grapevine when it comes to picnicking next to the water as you watch beautiful sunsets. This is really the defining feature of Murrell Park (as well as Rockledge Park), and that is the sunsets you will experience here. The best part about Murrell Park is that it is, at least in my visit, completely free. There is an entrance gate up front, but the guards there will acknowledge you and let you in. There is also a hiking and biking trail towards the right side of the entrance gate. And, for those who would rather dine next to the lake, you can make your way towards Rockin S Bar for great food and music when you turn right after the entrance gate. Overall, Murrell Park is Grapevines beach haven.

They dont check/ enforce permits. Was going to camp here but ended up leaving early (Thank God we were local) because there were groups of 6+ unpermitted people staying at empty camp site and by we came, our site was trashed with sauces, fish hooks(that got on my dogs tail ). Would of definitely loved the experience if permits were enforced

I live nearby and this is one of my favorite state parks for many reasons. There are so many areas to explore, camp and take photos at that you can find a new area every time you visit. There are plenty of campsites and areas to picnic at both near campsites and independent of them. There are a couple of small areas with a sandy beach to make it easy to get into the water for kids. For those wanting to fish or just relax without the splashing, the rock ledges along the water in several areas are the perfect spot. There are areas along the ledges that you can get in the water, but not too far which also allows you an area for a fire when allowed. Its an extremely popular spot for photographers as well. You could take all of your clients there and almost never have to shoot in the same location....even though most do. Depending on the time of year, the grasses/flowers are gorgeous and the sunset over the lake is amazing. Like most lakes in Texas, Grapevine Lake is no different. It will rise easily during storms and rainy season which will cause access to some areas impossible so make sure to check the website online first. They do also close areas for upgrading.

During 40 min walk along the narrow trails got almost hit by crazy cyclists 3 times. Barely managed to jump away and pull out my pup from under the wheels. Then run straight away from the park. Whose genius idea was to allow both hikers and cyclists on the same trails? Crowded. Loud. No restrooms. Music from every corner so I couldnt even hear my own thoughts. Not the way I imagine relaxing union with the nature I was looking forward to get there. Never again.

I enjoyed the park. Camped at hippy pt a couple nights. Primitive, no running water or electric. Vault toilets. I would have liked a bit more signage to identify parking for the campsite. The number is near/on the covered area with the picnic table, which at a few sights is 20 yards from the parking spot. Also, because there arent any signs on the campsites, people park in those spots and go for walks (with or without dogs) or sit to watch the boat traffic or the sunset (which it is a beautiful place for).

It was my first time visiting. There was a man at the station when I drove in. I thought maybe there was a fee, but nope. He waived me through. Besides the stunning views, there is a boat ramp. Plenty of parking. I will definitely return and explore more of what it offers. For a realistic view I have uploaded my unedited photos. I couldnt find a map of the campsites anywhere, so Ill post one here. There is plenty of space to explore and do some fishing, biking, and hiking. The overnight spaces are limited - I booked on Saturday and they were mostly open, but the place was almost full by Sunday night. That brings me to my only dig on the place... its a bit crowded, so you wont get any real escape to nature feel and you might (like me) get some noisy late-night neighbors that you cant avoid. The lakeside views in the morning were definitely worth it.

Wanted to explore the Northshore trails on Lake Grapevines North shore as my wife and I had never been. It was an amazing place to get away from the city and just listen to nature. The surroundings were so in ture with nature you could hear the grasshopper jumping from one blade of grass to another. You could hear the wind blowing over the top of the water and hear the ripples in the Lake come to shore. My wife and I got to the waters edge and just sat on some rock and listened to the birds, the wind and the water for about an hour. It was so peaceful and calm. And with the sun hitting the lake it was like something out of a movie. After a week of stress, the rush of daily life and the chaos that is todays world it was nice to take a step back in time and get rest and in ture with a little nature. Loved the trails and I would recommend the Northshore trails to anyone.

I didn t intend to complain publicly, but the listed park phone rings at the ACE office. They claim no responsibility for the campground. I stopped by the gate house when we left Saturday mid morning, and no one was there.

Restrooms and water are limited, but they had more water and toilets than most primitive camping spots. Hiking was great, but there lots of cyclists, so make sure youre listening for them, or you might get plowed into. The greenery and animal life were amazing. We saw lizards and snakes and deer, and lots of beautiful red birds amongst the bamboo. It was just a beautiful hike. I highly recommend this park!

Great fun. I had the time I expected, the place is very clean and there is a lot of security.

Nice park for kayaking and hiking. The area near the picnic shelters park and public boat launch was flooded from the heavy rains in May. It most likely will look completely different in the next month.
