Wonderful story of preserving the history of Texas. Great work Flower Mound and Denton County in preserving the cabin and opening it to the public.

Great example of the evolution of a Peters Colony log house built by a homesteader in 1870 into an early 1900s homestead. One of the only remaining bits of Flower Mounds earliest history of European settlement.

Amazing place with an incredible history. Very worth the visit especially when you take into consideration the time and history surrounding it. Texas is very young compared to parts of the US and world. To have this house discovered, preserved and it being 40 years older then Dallas and 100 years older then Flower Mound is very rare. The land its built on, 320 acres, was owned by Mexico only 15 years prior. Buffalo still roamed freely in some areas of Texas in 1860 and Indians lived in Oklahoman just 70 miles north. Abe Lincoln was president and the Civil War started the year it was built. A window back into US history, especially for a state without as much American history or age as many states, all make it a rare, incredible, find.

This house is a nice place to visit. It is a very old house and I came to know many things how it was made and how was the life during that time.
