The first time eating at the restaurant, my son and I were definitely expecting better food than we received. I had the chicken fried chicken first couple of bites where good, but half of it was tough gristle, not what you want to bite into on a chicken. My son had the chicken fried steak it was straight out of a box, not homemade it was not good at all. Very disappointing meal we will not be going back for $44 Id rather eat a hungry man meal out of the microwave. For dessert, we had Banana pudding. They claimed it was homemade it was jello pudding with Nilla wafer and a slice of banana big let down.

The food just wasnt as good as I remembered. The burgers cheese wasnt melted. Like they put it on my burger as an after thought. The patty was pretty thin. And I had to wait for my fries even though I got a combo and when it took a while I had to go remind them I needed my fries. The chicken strips were alright I guess.

Great spot to stop and enjoy a quick bite. The young lady at the register was friendly and welcoming. Hubby had chicken fried steak and I had the salad bar. We were both pleased. I liked the decor. It seems like youre in an old country store. Their facility is well maintained. They also sell an array of antique collectibles. I recommend you try them.

I am a difficult customer when it comes to ordering steak. I am a FIRM believer that a well done steak can, and should, be cooked JUICY AND TENDER ( if a grill cook is worth his/her weight in salt). So, staying true to my character, I ordered a ribeye and instructed the grill cook to make it well done yet tender and juicy. He was very nice and said he would do his level best. I had small hopes so when my food arrived the first thing I did was to cut my steak in half to check the doneness. My plate was instantly covered in juicy goodness. I smiled.... Temporarily. Sadly, the steak had very little flavor and was a little chewy. But I have to think it was probably a fresh steak and not aged. Also, knowing how the health dept is, Im assuming it was not at room temperature before being grilled. So I give the cook 5 stars for effort, the steak 2 stars for quality which gives a rating avg of 3.5 stars for the food. The other thing holding down the rating of the food is the weird and poor quality of the drinks they serve (sodas).

Observed horrible customer service to a group of technicians today around 2pm. The older woman working went out of her way multiple times to be flat out rude to them. I really hope it wasn t racism on her part, but the longer I observed, the more it seemed like it. Ex: Yelling at them, telling them to take all the food to their table when they were trying to figure out who s food was who s before they took it to the table. Like, who cares? The place was almost empty at 2. If what I saw wasn t racism, it was a power trip at the least. I will not be back, this made me sick!

This place is located in a very industrial area, you feel like your GPS is wrong, but, no theres a restaurant here! I hadnt eaten here in like 15 years until this past Friday but Im pretty sure that Ill be back. I had the double hamburger basket with fries and my wife had a single with onion rings. We both loved the burgers, you could tell that the meat was fresh and it tasted wonderful. The onion rings are a wet batter type, which isnt my favorite, but my wife enjoyed them.

This iconic restaurant has been in business for decades. I have never even been there before today! I discovered it from my new husband and his experiences visiting there. I am born and raised in Bryan College Station (actually not too far from this restaurant). Dano (my Marine husband) recommended that we give it a shot today because he had so many great things to say about it. He ordered the chicken fried steak. That is always what he orders :-) I decided to go with a steak because it says on the door that they never serve frozen meat. My steak was over the top awesome. The baked potato was well done and had fabulous toppings (for an additional charge). His chicken fried steak was subpar. It was a little small for the price and the gravy was very thin. I do love a good hometown restaurant with historical signage and the offerings of things for sale including a 1984 tiger yearbook were unexpected and greatly appreciated. Overall this is a good restaurant to eat at if you want steak but I would steer away from the chicken fried steak if you are an aficionado of such things as Dano is. Vegetarian options: If you want a salad then Make certain that you ask them to leave off the bacon pieces (which are the best part of a salad you crazy people!) Parking: People come in and out and the parking does stay regularly open. Unfortunately there are no handicap spaces marked and that made it difficult for the elderly couple that came in behind us but we help them out, opened the door, and helped a really cute older couple who were dressed like to get into the restaurant. Aggies do that, duh Kid-friendliness: You can bring your Rugrats but with all of these established country folk you should probably keep them under control or you will get the stink eye. Wheelchair accessibility: Flat parking lot and an easy way into the restaurant if you have someone to open the door for you

We decided to try this place. We looked at their menu online and checked the reviews first. It looked good. Ooops, what mistake. Friendly service ? Not here. Decent prices ? Not here. Their menu prices are not even close (30 to 40% higher). Wevdid not receive any Friendly service. We ordered a chicken fried chicken dinner with one side (bahed potato). They charged $13.00 (it may have been 3-4 ounces, 1/4 thick and 4 in diameter) and overcokked (like a hockey puck). But then they charged $1.50 for sour cream, butter and cheese). Whoever heard of a baked potato without these items ? Then their banana pudding showed as $1.99 online, it is $3.00 that was not bad enough, it was old and turned to gelatin. We also got the salad bar for $5.50 They hand you a very small bowl that may hold a cup and a half. Then they post signs on the salad bar single trip to salad bar ony on the salad bar. Sorry people this place is a joke. Not onlybis it lacking in meal quality, portions and service. Itbis cafeteria style. You order at a the countervand pick up your meal at a window. Anyone that has been to Texas Roadhouse knows that you get a huge Chicken Fried Chicken $13.49 (big enough for two) a baked potato ($1.50 for loaded), a big salad and all the rolls you want. Nice experience on a Saturday afternoon. Almost a hole in the wall type of place, but I bet they are really busy at lunch on the weekdays. At first when we were looking we thought it might be closed, glad it wasnt. Looking at the old signs, vintage and antique items for sale was nice. The Steak was cooked to our liking, the fries are nicely seasoned and the bacon cheeseburger was a good choice. I tried the very basic salad bar add to my mean and I was not disappointed. Everything was nice and fresh. I would recommend this restaurant.

The chicken fried steak dinner was horrible. It was all breading with no flavor. I m pretty sure they are precooked frozen patties. The only reason why this review is getting 2 stars is because of the baked potato. That never disappoint. I love their baked potatoes. Nothing is freshly made here at all. It s all frozen pre-made food that gets thrown in the deep fryer, microwave, or a quick hit on the griddle. I know that for a fact, because the owner or manager was sitting right behind us with the food delivery guy, and putting in his order for food items, and was also being offered other frozen food items for the menu, and you can definitely taste the food and know that it is not fresh made(homemade) food. The food has Sysco and Swan s written all over it. Frostbite, rubber, and cardboard is all I tasted. Gotta hit it with a ton of salt, pepper, ketchup, Tabasco, dressing, or steak sauce to get any flavor out of it.

I was slightly disappointed in my hamburger tasted about the same kind of burger I can get at a fast food restaurant. Cashier was not fully aware of the menu even though I ordered a bacon cheeseburger she still asked me if I wanted cheese. Quality of the food is a little bit less than I would have expected and quantity as well. Always has been a nice atmosphere however and still is.

Had the chopped steak dinner and it was the best that I have ever had with the grilled onions and mushrooms, baked potato and salad bar BUT customer service was not good, she wasnt friendly at all, didnt greet you and just asked, what are you having?
