Our first time here and I have to say the food was not all that great. Server was nice but at the end we were never brought our gravy biscuits, I asked the server to remove it as we were not going to wait and she replied well I didn t charge you for a drink I asked what was the cost difference and she said it was the same. It was horrible. This is my opinion obviously but I do not recommend this place at all.

My coworkers wanted to venture out to a diner on Friday, so we paid this place a visit. We walked in and were promptly greeted. They told us to sit wherever we desire. We picked a corner booth, so all five of us could sit together. Our waitress introduced herself as Nancy. She was very knowledgeable of the menu, attentive and friendly. Atmosphere: The decor in this diner is like an old fashion diner should look. The walls were covered in Memorabilia. Our food: I ordered a bacon burger with fries. My buddy had a strange order consisting of pineapple, chicken, shrimp, etc.. Another guy had a club sandwich with fries. Big plus: Our food came out piping hot and appealing to eyes. They were generous with our portions. My burger was moist and tasty. My fries were perfect. But one of my coworkers preferred his fries, a little crisper & as well as the bacon. But those things could have been easily fixed when communicated to our waitress. Enjoyed it! Parking: Plenty of parking around front and side of establishment Kid-friendliness: High chairs for kids and kids menu Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible from the parking spots

Not a long wait for our food at all, and it was on a Sunday. Our waitress was so kind and attentive! I would definitely come back and might even become a regular here and there, it s worth the drive! Kid-friendliness: Cool decorations that could appeal to kids and families!

Im a sucker for diners. But at this diner I was disappointed in my food, at first. (Eggs Benedict) However, my dining companion had good food. (Chicken fried steak.) The server noticed that I didnt eat and asked me about it, I gave my opinion and she insisted on bringing me something else and removing the first dish from our ticket. I then had biscuits and gravy and they were good! The service was good and I will visit again.

My husband and I have come here probably over 50 times through the years. We are in our early 30s but we enjoy the old style diner vibe that this place has. This diner has a special place in our heart as it is one of our go tos for a simple breakfast and a nice cup of coffee. The ladies and gentlemen that work there are always pleasant, and many have been there for a long time. Its always nice to see familiar faces. The food is alright, for the price that you are paying I would say its great. (Very reasonable prices- I guess theyre also somewhat stuck in the older diner era lol, which is awesome). Dont expect a michelin star, fancy breakfast here. You can, however, expect a hearty breakfast, (my favorite are the spinach quiche, and the shrimp/bacon omelet) wonderful, friendly atmosphere that takes you back to the good ol days.

The 4.5 stars on here is very misleading. This place an average dirty diner at best, but the prices are like a swanky brunch place. The table was dirty, someone s used creamer cups were left behind, and the place itself is not super clean. Ordered soft scrambled eggs and they used liquid eggs instead of real eggs. The biscuits were spongey why?! The gravy was from a package, nothing special. The pancakes were average and they charged an extra $3.25 to make them blueberry. Only sort of redeeming quality was that the waitress was super sweet then again, she dropped the hot sauce bottle in my plate and didn t offer to bring fresh food.

Came here because my wife always wanted to come here and it looks great, atmosphere is beautiful! We got our menus and saw Chuck Norris filmed here twice, very cool! Then it immediately went downhill when we saw our waitress attend other people that got there after us, took a while to get to us, and we ordered our food ($8.75 for a burger no fries, very cool). The waitress checked on us once but promptly buttered up the other people and would check up on them frequently. She forgot our ranch but quickly gave us the check, I asked about if the ranch was extra she said no and started to argue when I told her I never got the ranch she kept saying it wasn t extra. It really is like the 50s here because they ll serve the white people before you! Which is a shame because the staff is diverse but probably assume they ll get the most tips catering to their diverse clientele of white people with various hair colors.

To me, The Diner is as authentic as it can be. No fancy food and fancy jargons in their menu. Just plain good American food. Whatever time of the day it is, I love the Diners Special which is Eggs, Sausage/Bacon, Hash browns/Diced Potatoes, Biscuit+Gravy and a drink. The Biscuits are the best! Sometimes they serve the sausage gravy and sometimes they dont. At times I have got some undercooked potatoes but they have corrected them when I brought it to their notice. The only item that I havent liked was their pancakes which to me was a little too soggy. I would have rated their food at 5 stars if it werent for these pancakes. Overall, a good and cost effective diner.

This is an unfair review but what the hey...I have been going to this place when it used to be called Normas: seen plenty of changes with the staff, the menu and decorations. But were not here for my memory lane review, were here for that food folks. This place has become my Cheers because of the food, the portions served AND the level of service. Like the name says its a diner, Happy Days feel like the 50s, complimented with Elvis Presley pictures and the blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe. With this kind of ambience surrounding you, the meal of choice just increases in both taste and enjoyment. Warning foodies and destination enthusiasts, go here with an empty stomach because The Diner doesnt play when it comes to feeding the customers. My personal favorite is the chicken fried chicken; which can be paired for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Simple good eating that gets me full everytime. I try to stay away from the chocolate pie because its evil, I mean a dessert shouldnt make you wanna take a nap at work . Now Im not about to skimp on the ladies of The Diner, some of the hardest hustling waitresses I have had the pleasure of meeting. When it gets busy they are on their A-Game with a smile and kind words. Of the crew however, Ms. Holly sticks out. Shes part of the OG Normas waitstaff and takes her job of taking care of you, very seriously....plus she knows my name and doesnt hesitate to greet me . Definitely the minute you park at a booth or table you will be taken care of, so be nice to my ladies when you go pay them a visit. From burgers and salads, to a lumberjack breakfast or maybe even a simple tasty sandwich, this place will have you covered on all fronts. So if you havent paid them a visit yet, quit playing and get you, your family and possibly some friends over there to experience this place, you wont regret it. Parking: You better not get there late on a Sunday..the place gets packed quickly. Kid-friendliness: Kids love this place, especially gawking at the celebrity cut-outs, if theyre not busy coloring.

Came here for dinner because we were craving chicken fried steak and burger. Immediately when we stepped inside, the waitresses made eye contact with us but nobody said anything. No one greeted us. They just resumed chatting with each other. There werent any other customer in the establishment at this time. Our waitress was an older lady. She might not be having a good day. However, she made us feel extremely unwelcomed and uncomfortable. We ordered chicken fried steak and bacon cheese burger. The kitchen forgot about the bacon. We saw our waitress reaching over the expo line and grabbing the bacon with her bare hand and put it into the burger. The chicken fried steak was served 15 minutes after the burger. My partner had to wait 15 minutes for my food to arrive, so we could eat together. We watched all the other tables got their food. When we inquired about my order, the waitress was agitated. Told us its coming then she went to the kitchen informing the kitchen staff she forgot about my order and asked them to expedite it. When she brought the food she told us the kitchen forgot to make your order. No apologies. True authentic 50s experience for a colored person. Absolutely would not recommend this place.

Ive driven by this place many times and finally stopped, so glad I did. They have the best homemade food and desserts; everything is made from scratch. Great atmosphere and service. I would give it more stars if I could and will definitely be back.

Omelettes were nicely made, not too cheesy, and lots of veggies. The blueberry pancakes came with a blueberry syrup. The Napoleon Omelette was yummy. Good food, old style homely service. We will be going back several times.

I have visited this diner before but it had been a while. This time wasnt so great. My meatloaf wasnt cooked. It was very pink in the middle. When I asked the waitress to take it back, she brought it back from the kitchen saying the cook said its done. Then asked if I wanted to order another entree instead (that I would pay for). I refused to eat the undercooked meat and left. Terrible experience.

We were very disappointed overall! We had looked forward to having what was described as home cooked meals ! The meatloaf was dry and the sauce was bland! The chicken fried steak was more breading than meat!! Will not be returning! Food

The staff here are wonderful and the food is simple and homemade. The chicken fried chicken is probably the best I have had anywhere. The corned beef and hash is also delicious. To be honest, I haven t really tried anything that I didn t like. They also have great diner style coffee that I can t resist having at least 2-3 cups of before i leave. I highly recommend this place for a good home style breakfast.

The breakfast is as classic as it gets. I think if you re looking into a change in scenery and trying to avoid burning a hole in your pocket (the way some high end brunch places do) then this is the place. Great breakfast at 7:30am

Overpriced, $2.49 for an extra egg! This is August 2023, the wholesale price for 12 eggs is around $1.39. Eggflation was over 3 months ago. Kid meal portions were stingy (no eggs included) The bacon was dark and hard. My turkey salad was mediocre; the vegetable portion was iceburg lettuce and shredded red cabbage, which was a disappointment compared to many other places who serve spinach or spring mix. We went for lunch during the week, it was empty and service was quick. I know theyre going for classic diner vibe, but the decor seemed a little tired. I wouldnt go back.

We passed Pete s in order have lunch at The Diner. We walked in a little after 11 am on a Friday. It was not busy and we were asked to have a seat where we liked as I was admiring the desserts. We chose a booth and waited and waited and then waited some more. No one brought us menus and it was some time before I saw wait staff. Then I finally saw someone!!! She stopped at the table next to us and took away dirty plates, never acknowledging us. She then spoke to a regular for a moment and continued visiting other tables in that section, retrieving empty plates from those tables where her guests were finished. We were still not acknowledged. After waiting about 10 minutes, we decided they were not interested in our business so we got up and left, drove to Babe s in Old Downtown Carrollton and enjoyed a hearty lunch, where we were promptly greeted, seated and had excellent service. I highly recommend a visit to the Square after eating a delicious meal at Babe s.

This is one of those local diners that has a loyal following. The food is your average diner fare, nothing spectacular or particularly creative. The coffee has always been pretty bad. My husband used to get aggravated at me for sneaking a small thermos of coffee from home when we would go for breakfast, just can t do that coffee. The decor is super fun and authentic. We went for breakfast last week after not visiting since before Covid, the one thing that struck me was it looked like it REALLY needed cleaning, windows, doors, floors, everything. The walls inside and out and the signs need to be repainted. It just has the look of a place that is loved but also neglected.

This is exactly what you would expect. Its a diner that was built in the 60s and looks it too! However, the food was excellent and plentiful for the price. Our service was adequate, but we were a big group of 10. They did add a gratuity.
