Really great hang out to watch a game. Lilia the bartender is experienced and very friendly. Great choice of top shelf tequilas and Mescal. I recently visited Mexico and the food at The Reserve is very authentic. The patio bar is great for brunch.

Discovered this gem one day and ordered the empanadas and margarita on an amazing happy hour promotion. We sat on the patio next to green space where kids can play. The empanadas are some of the best. Crunchy, gooey cheese and still flaky in all the ways I want my empanada to be. Last thing, Marcos (our servant) was quick & helped us with a big smile the entire time. It doesn t disappoint.

We have been to this restaurant before with no issues. However, we went on a Tuesday night and the service was terrible. We had to wait 45 minutes to an hour before receiving our food. We had to get our own water because no one would come fill glasses and our cocktails took 20 minutes to receive. Even when I complained about the service the manager never came out and apologize or offer an explanation. I rarely ever leave a restaurant without giving a tip of 15 to 20% depending on service. However I left zero tip due to poor service. They seem to be struggling with staff and cooks. It was a Tuesday night and there was not many customers even in the restaurant to explain the slow service. I dont see this restaurant being around in the near future unless they can Staffing and management. I would avoid this restaurant unless you have lots of time to kill.

While the food is decent, the service has been consistently terrible. This is our fourth visit, and each time the service has been poor. We had to flag down a server multiple times, and despite asking for a chips and salsa refill three times, it never came. Eventually, we gave up. We had to find another server just to get our check, and still ended up going to the front to pay. Ironically, as we were leaving, the chips and salsa finally arrived. The restaurant wasn t even busy on a Friday night.

We were heading to Thirsty Lion but was pulled over by the open inviting decor of The Reserve. It was past 3pm on a Sat and it wasn t busy with at most 5 tables with patrons. First observation was shortage of staff - long wait for service and food/drinks. 2 guys walked in and sat at the open long bar for at least 15 minutes before walking out bc no bar staff was in sight. The food was very disappointing as well, definitely not worth the price and especially the wait. We saw about 3 staff at the restaurant throughout our meal and with so few tables to serve, you would think it would have been faster. IMO service and food need significant improvement if this place intends to survive. The margaritas were quite good.

I was surprised when we walked in at 10:30, that the restaurant was empty. It s very nice inside and there is plenty of seating. I decided to try the chicken and waffles. The waffles pretty much looked like ones I would make at home. They had a sprinkle of blueberries and sliced strawberries and they were soggy, like they had sat in a chafing dish. For the price, I expected crisp, airy Belgian waffles. There were two decent sized chicken strips and the seasoning was okay. After reading other reviews, I probably will not give The Reserve another try.

The atmosphere is very nice and cute, lots of places to take pictures. The chips were stale but the warm salsa was great with lots of flavor, not spicy. Ordered the beef Gorditas ($16.00) which comes with 2, no beans and rice. That was split between 2 people. We added beans and rice ($8.00). The Gorditas have beans, crema mexicana and queso fresco inside them, yet they were very bland and dry. Lettuce and tomatoes come on the side but I had to add salt and salsa just for flavor. We had a large party so there was an automatic 20% gratuity added. We decided to pay for the birthday friend. The staff came and sang HB bringing churros. The churros ended up costing $9.00. The birthday friend ordered a breakfast plate with steak. The 2 platters, 3 drinks and unexpected churros came out to $90.00. We learned you only get one refill and then if you ask for another you get a new $3.98 charge for another drink. The drinks come in small glasses, clearly anyone would want a couple or more refills. No where on the menu did it say your tea or soft drinks would not be unlimited. The prices are high for food that was not great.

Not only do a lot of the main entrees not come with rice and beans, but they charge for refills without making the customer aware until you receive your bill. Surprise exaggerated hight bill because it took long to get food we had 8 refills between 3 of us. Food was dry and bland. Will never, ever go back. Patrons be aware.

This was my second time eating at The Reserve. This time for dinner; the first time was at the las colinas location, but only for drinks and apps. I think that s really all I could recommend coming here for, but overall, I d probably just go somewhere else. The iPads in place of menus is not great. You only see photos of menu items (no name or description until you click on a photo) and it s not organized well. So it s cumbersome to figure out what s what. The restaurant itself is very nice looking. But they had the garage doors at the bar open leading to outside, and even though the plastic walls were put up on the patio, it was hot and humid and made it uncomfortable inside. They serve you room temperature fruit infused water, which normally would sound nice but since it was so hot and humid inside, it actually made the experience even more unpleasant. First time I went, I got the nachos and they were delicious. The drinks were good too. This time I ordered actual food and it was not great. The barbacoa was mostly just fat which felt nauseating in my mouth. I took a couple bites and then couldn t eat anymore. The beef fajita meat is okay. Not bad, but there are much better places nearby. It tasted like something you d reheat on the stove from a frozen meal. The fajita chicken was dry too. My dad s meal was some sort of fried chicken breast and while it looked good when they brought it out, it was so hard and dry that he kept choking on it. He had to dump a whole thing of salsa on it and then he said it just tasted like salsa. I think the premise of this place is great, but the execution is not. In an area with lots of great restaurants, this one just doesn t impress. But if you happen to be in the shopping center and need a drink and some light bites, it ll do in a pinch.

I was so excited to try this place. The vibe and ambiance seemed very fun. Thats where the good feelings ended. We went in at 5:30 on a Wednesday and there were maybe 5 people there. No biggie, they are new, so maybe the word just hasnt gotten out yet. I ordered the spicy passion fruit cocktail, and my friend ordered the Paloma. Hers was not great but not un-drinkable. Mine was horrible. It tasted like straight-up chemicals. I had my friend taste it, and she said it tasted like what she imagined antifreeze would taste like. The very young server tried to tell me that You may not be familiar with what Mezcal tastes like. Um, no.... pretty sure Ive been drinking Mezcal longer than she has been alive. But I just politely asked if I could do a house margarita instead. She brought one out, and it was definitely passable. But not as good as all the other Mexican restaurants in the area. The chips were so stale they tasted like they could have been the display that has been sitting out for weeks. The salsa was decent. Good flavor and a little heat but strange consistency. It had a lot of stringiness. It seemed almost like whatever peppers (poblano maybe?) they roasted werent quite blended enough so that the skin separated and created this weird stringy texture. We also tried the empenadas and the queso. Both were just okay. Mid at best. It was so disappointing that we opted to go next door to the Thirsty Lion for entrees. When we walked in the door there, the place was packed. That kind of says it all. If they dont change some things up, I would be surprised if they lasted more than a year. With Rio, LaHa, and the other plethora of decent Mexican restaurants in the area, this place just isnt it. Maybe the entrees would have been better, but when the appetizers and the drinks are a miss, you have lost my business.

If I could give zero stars, I would. While we were seated quickly, that was the only positive. At 11 a.m., the place was nearly empty, yet we still had to wait 10 minutes just to get our drinks. After another 15 minutes, I had to flag someone down to place our food order. Despite confirming the order with the server, it was completely wrong. We ordered a simple breakfast: pancakes, scrambled eggs with cheese, potatoes, and bacon. The pancakes were overcooked, there was no butter, and they forgot the eggs entirely, substituting them with bacon instead. The Mexican eggs platter was more onions and peppers than eggs, completely bland with zero flavor. The bacon tasted old and stale and I know bacon well since I cook it daily. We paid $46 for two subpar breakfast plates. This isn t the first time we ve had bad service and horrible food here. I usually give places a second chance, but this is ridiculous. It s clear why the community flocks to the Brunch District and avoids this mediocre spot. To top it off, while I was telling Yadira about our experience, she abruptly grabbed the $50 bill from my hand and handed me the change, without a word. Run away from this place they clearly don t care about providing good service or quality food.

After the first time I ate here I thought surely the service has to be better but after the third time and it is the same I am writing a review. We waited an hour for our food to come out and it was warm not hot like it has just been made, we had to ask three times for a refill of the chips and salsa, we had to ask for refills on our waters and to order more drinks from the bar. No one came to check and see how we were doing or if our food came out ok. The server asked us how our food was when she came to pick up our dirty dishes. They were not busy but still the service was terrible. The food was mediocre (especially when you are paying $20 a person for a meal) and they automatically add 20% gratuity on your bill for parties of 6 or more so even if you have bad service you still have to tip 20%. When I asked to speak to the manager after we had been there for 2 hours during a non peak time, it took her 20 minutes to come to our table and I found out she was the one I had asked for chips and salsa refills. When I mentioned the wait time for our food she argued with me on how long it took our food to come out. The atmosphere is nice so it is sad because with proper staff and management this restaurant could be a great place.

Came in yesterday because the place looked ok and it was in front of our hotel. Took some pictures because they have some good decorations. Well, we decided to try it but we should have read the reviews. We ordered the 3 tacos and the quesadilla and two natural drinks, lemonade and pineapples. Both drinks tasted like they put a tiny amount of flavor powdered package and they made probably 3 huge jugs with dirty water. Not natural drinks for sure. My tacos were plain with a bunch of onions and like 1 leaf of cilantro ( the green sauce is what made them good to eat). The chips tasted stale and salty and the hungry flies did not help the situation. We even asked if the drinks were good and we were told that they were. Really disappointed because the food and the drinks could be 100×s better but not sure why they dont make changes when people complain. Would not recommend to anyone trying to find some good food and dont get me started on the price, some quesadillas that gave my niece heartburn after eating only 1 piece. Parking: It was dinner on a Sunday, everything else was closed.

The atmosphere and staff are wonderful. Ultimately we re here for the food though, and unfortunately that s lacking. The Gorditas were flavorless and BOTH chimichangas at our table had so little meat in them that it was legitimately false advertising to use the name of a meat in them, they were bean and dough chimichangas with a little meat garnish. They charge $20 for the plate, they don t need to scam you on the meal. Dont eat here.

I was here with 3 other adults and 2 kids, totaling 6 people. They put a 20% auto gratuity without saying anything to us, not mentioned anywhere on the menu, website, anything to us. The server acted reserved when dropping off the check and walked away pretty fast.( I even asked to see a menu after the fact to see if it was on the menu. No one ever brought me a menu so i walked up to the host stand to look for myself. Thats when i looked and saw that it s not mentioned on the menu. )Im in the service industry and the tip isnt the issue, it s the fact that it seemed it was trying to be done in a sneaky way. New try for us. The waitress didnt know what a diet drink was, she didnt know what decaf tea was, I told her it was tea without caffeine. I order an omelet w/chorizo and asked for extra beef added. The omelet was as thin as a crepe with no chorizo. The food was Very bland. I asked for a side of refried beans she came back w/in 2 minutes with a cup of rice. She took the rice and got beans but charged us extra for the rice as well. It took a while to get our food and not everyone at the table was eating. Im embarrassed to write this review but we have major reservations about going back. We wont go back. No request we made was unreasonable and we were very polite and left a tip. Hey we hate complaining but sorry Reserve we wont come back. Vegetarian options: Very few.

Wow! I cant even express in words my experience today. I come from a border town, so great quality Mexican food is hard to find. The Reserve delivers in more ways than one. The food is so on point. The mole is the best I have had in far too long. Amazing, authentic, delicious, scratch food. And the absolute best part, the service! Annie made our experience so special. She was so charismatic and explained everything so well to the point I could already taste it. Doesnt matter how good the food is, service is everything and Annie made it so special. Wow!!! What an experience, I feel like Im at home here. We will be back, multiple times a week. So impressed! Thank you!

Came across this place recently when driving around Glad Parks and decided to try it out. Place was quiet on a Sunday afternoon. Beautiful place inside and has a huge patio which is where we sat. Service was a bit slow at times. I would say this place is closer to Mexican food than Tex-Mex. We had the queso flamedo with chorizo which was excellent and the chips plentiful. I had the gorditos that consisted of homemade bread, plenty of chicken on one and trumpo on the other. All was super tasty. Wife had the tacos since the corn tortillas were made in house. Note, the flour are not. All tacos had plenty of meat and she approved of the flavor on all three. Definitely a little pricey and a pro tip....go after 3. They have some great happy hour deals like 1/2 price draft beer. We will definitely be back!

Tried this place for 1st time. Ambiance & service were good. Slight confusion with seating because of language barrier. The menu only has one dish with shrimp and there is no seafood or fish dishes. They give you warmed salsa n chips. it was good but the salsa had strings in it from whatever its made from. Thats a little unappetizing. Ordered guacamole made tableside. That was good. one avocado was sufficient for one person but could have used 2 for consistency & pricing of this dish. My entree was the chicken gorditas. The lettuce and tomatoe was served on the side. You get 2. The gordita shell was crispy and ordered the chicken, maybe cheese? and beans in it. I thought the dish was unflavorfull. The chicken to me seemed like the canned chicken. Beans had no flavor. I would not get it again. Parking: Depends how busy it is in the area. May have to park around the corner. Kid-friendliness: They have fun wicker hanging basket seating. Wheelchair accessibility: yes but not sure of bathrooms.

How this place has 4.2 stars is beyond me. A friend and I stopped here for lunch. Service was slow. We ordered the taco tower that came on a slab. We ordered 3 meats and got 2. Both were dry and had no flavor. Both the salsas smelled and tasted off. No amount of toppings helped. Tortillas were straight out the package. Food was cold. We asked the waitress if she eats there she said no. Not worth your time or money. Everything is way overpriced. Definitely never will go back. We paid the tab but should have walked out.

Update: Went back today for lunch. The food was good once again, but I think I have zero ed in on my previous service issues. The bartender seemed to be moving in half speed. No one else at the bar but still took 10 minutes for my drink. After eating my lunch, the bartender was nowhere to be seen. Waited 15 minutes. Nothing. There were 6 people in the restaurant. I finally had to flag down the hostess and tell her that I am packing up, and I am going to walk my check unless the bartender shows up between now and then. Magically, he reappeared from the back. I normally tip REALLY well, but this is the first time I have stiffed a bartender in years. I took two stars off the service rating. I have never had an issue with another bartender there. I just don t understand why he is still able to leave such a negative impression on customers. - Update: I have been back twice in the last couple of weeks. It is much improved over my last review. I sat at the bar (again) and the bartender was much more knowledgeable and attentive. The food arrived quicker and was the right temp. The Milanesa was particularly good, and the barbacoa, carnita, and asada tacos were all much better than a year ago. I have to admit, I didn t think they would make it based on my first couple of experiences, but if you haven t tried The Reserve in the last 9+ months, give it another shot. The interior is great and with spring on us, the open air bar and dining is going to be on point. - They have just recently opened so I will give them a chance to get their feet under them and update my review. I really like the space. Nice patio. Like the opening to the outside bar. Everyone was nice and responsive. I waited 30 minutes after ordering food for the manager to come out and tell me they didn t have what I had ordered. When the food came out, it was warm, not hot. I chalk this up to still getting the kinks worked out. I really want to like this place since they are close to me. I think they can smooth things out in the coming weeks. I will check back then and update this review. I m not saying to avoid this place, just give them a little time.

So, the place does look amazing and I guess it is one of those restaurants that cater to the social media folk that just like to take pictures of their food and where they are at but never actually eat their food or know what good food tastes like. The Reserve is like a Panchos Mexican buffet tried to be fancy... But they forgot to upgrade the food. Margaritas are super sweet and not that great. I normally try to give a place a few tries but this is a hard pass. Will say if you like spicy, ask for their spicy salsa. Only redeeming quality.

Alert, witty, knowledgeable, prompt, disarming, she had the whole game, made it so much better. The Happy hour deal is beyond stupid good, get the empanadas. Will return...this week. This place is very nice to look at. The food is terrible. The beans and rice, very disappointing. The rice was Jasmin rice with peas and corn. The beans were like baby food and I m not exaggerating. I had the worst server. She would take our order and then not come back and when she did, she didn t even bring what we asked for. At one point I had to go to bar and tell them the margarita that has been sitting is mine and I haven t seen my sever, another server had to bring it to my table. Went last Sunday for lunch and the hostess was confused and several others were waiting and she never spoke to anyone. Strange. Another server came and sat us outside which was nice. Meh. Style over substance. Food was pricey for what you got and the flavor was on the bland side. Started with chips and salsa, and the salsa had no heat and was also on bland side. I got gorditas, one with Trompo (pork) one with barbacoa (beef). The gorditas sandwiched the meat that also had beans, crema and queso fresco. I could tell that the filling was not enough for two gorditas so I took one gordita off and ate it open faced. The gordita was thick and heavy and flavor-less. The filling was ok but I pushed all to one side and ate it that way. The filling would have filled one small street taco. I also had their version of elotes (they call them esquite ) which was ok. The corn was fresh. It was served with lime and a hot sauce. My husband and daughter got brunch, chilaquiles and brunch tacos a la Mexicana (scrambled eggs with pico). They both agreed that it was on bland side and just ok. Chilaquiles were mushy. We did not have drinks. The Reserve might be known for drinks and appetizers. The restaurant had cute decor and waitstaff was friendly but it does not warrant a second trip for me. Texans are very particular about Mexican food and the flavor was just not there.

I went to this establishment and I must say it was not a good experience. The server did not greet us for 20 minutes. By the time she got to the table we ordered a beer and a skinny marg. We ordered tacos and a quesadilla. Our food came out before our drinks. Which took another 20 minutes for drinks!! The tacos were completely wrong. The quesadilla had sour cream under the food. I asked for the manager and I told her the situation. She offered a free dessert or money of the ticket. I requested money of the check. We get the check and she took $4 off!!! At this point I am very upset with this manager. She comes back and offers a dessert AGAIN. I then replied and said I would actually like to leave. She snapped back at me and walked away with a dissatisfied customer. The mangers name is LARIS. I will not be returning because of this manger and her only!!

UPDATE: We gave it another go and were even more disappointed this visit. Soggy Chimichanga, which is supposed to be deep fried and crispy. Tamales with no flavor or seasoning. Margarita glass covered and dripping with simple syrup...Wont be going back and unless you enjoy overpaying for bland food, we highly suggest you take your business elsewhere! ORIGINAL:We were excited to try this new restaurant, but sadly, we were very underwhelmed. The lingua and carnitas had little, to no seasoning, and while the presentation of the queso was fun, if you didnt get any meat added, you would only have plain melted cheese with no flavor. The empanadas were tasty, and the lingua was cooked well; however, they got my husbands order wrong and smothered the enchiladas in sour cream when he asked and confirmed no sour cream. Service was very hesitant on what the menu items included, which I can understand since this is a new restaurant. We also sat our table for almost 10 minutes before we could get water and then an appetizer/drink order in. There were only 5-6 tables seated while we were there. The margarita, while tasty is served in a small whiskey glass, so very minimal for $12 and nothing that blows you away. We want to give it another go, but will give some time before we return... in the hopes that management works out the kinks!
