Visited this location a couple of days ago. It pains me to give this place that holds a special place in my heart such a bad review but I had to do it. Their food is just not the same. I dont know if its the quality of ingredients being used or the lack of love and care for the food being made. At this location in particular the rolled tacos(flautas)were awful. Very little crunch to them, almost seemed as if they didnt fry them enough, the sauce and cheese were ok. The green salsa was still good. I also got the beef stew burrito, the stew meat was tough and lacking flavor big time, the burrito itself was wrapped extremely sloppy. Was it dropped and still sent out or do they not know how to roll a burrito? Not sure. In general their food quality has gone down, I went to another location 2 weeks ago and the food is just not that good anymore, NOT WORTH their prices in my opinion. I dont appreciate them increasing their prices so much but yet the restaurants look not so clean and their food quality instead of at least staying the same has gone down. If anyone from their organization is reading this, please have your employees and management take more pride in what they are doing and putting out to the public. The fact that you all have been an El Paso staple for so long and most El Pasoans are die hard fans has kept you afloat all this time but you all need to do better. I apologize for not having pictures, I have a rule with my daughters to not have phones at the table. If youve never had Chicos , I still encourage you to check them out at your OWN RISK but if you are on a budget w/a few family members this is NOT the place to go.

My family and I have been going to Chicos all over El Paso for decades. It used to be a place we d go to enjoy a cheap decent meal that hit our cravings. The food is ok. It s Chicos. The locals know what you re getting here. It s simple. Nothing too great. Usually not bad. The chairs aren t comfortable but they re not terrible. The air conditioning is provided by outdated evaporated air units. This is miserable in the summer and makes it difficult to eat a hot meal while sweating. On top of this, we re now expected to pay more. We used to go to Chicos at the end of our paycheck for a cheap meal. Now with 3 average adults who are hungry, we re looking at $40+ for the same old Chicos. I can see why some people would rather eat at another establishment with better quality food for that price. It s not like we re eating gourmet here. There s fast food options that have arguably better food at cheaper prices. With a high school, medical school and medical hospital down the street, you d think they d capitalize and offer combos or easy order items for people who are coming in for lunch that may not know the menu well. You Can easily make a Single, fries and a drink a combo at a fair price. Or what about refills for the drinks? Charging extra for the same food isn t a good business move. Chicos has practically doubled in price the last 5-10 years. Chicos is a great El Paso favorite that I will continue to eat at when the craving strikes. But it s not remarkable. They ve cleaned up the place and the service has gotten better. But the prices aren t reasonable and may keep people from making Chicos their first or second choice because of it. The a la carte approach is outdated. This specific location is in a lower income area. So to have these prices is a little absurd. Also other restaurants have their own versions of the tacos and even round hotdogs at cheaper prices. One is to think that it s cheaper and tastes better to make it at home if you re a true Chicos lover. That s why I give it a 2/5 stars.

6 hours away you can have a In-and-out burger but you can taste it here with $3.50. Only downside is to pay only cash but an ATM is located next to the caahier. I didnt have time to enjoy other meals but i want to bring my family to try other menus. It is crowdly packed before lunch hour but plenty parking and seating spaces.

If your visiting El Paso Texes and your craving tacos, you need to try these out. Its more like a floata than a taco but its great! Its a taco drowned in sauce and topped with cheese. Its the best mix, they got it right. The staff was helpful and friendly. Dont let the looks of this location fool you, go in and eat the best tacos in town! I remember hearing this place from Fluffy(Gabriel Iglesias) in his comedy special and its worth it. I will definitely come back if Im ever in the area again.

Chico s tacos, what happened to you? Your tomato sauce was tasteless, the inside meat of the tacos was black , and to top it off, flies all over the place, I do have to say that the French fries were really good. So please get some salt and seasoning in that sauce, put good meat in the tacos, and get rid of all those flies, I want to go back and enjoy those delicious tacos that you used to have.

We tried this restaurant out just because it is an El Paso favorite place. Well I guess I would have had to grown up here to love them the way El Pasoen do. We tried their famous staple rolled tacos with consomé, salsa and cheese. All I can say is it was not for me. Now let me say that the burgers and fries looked really good. If we go back thats what Id get. The place was clean inside and outside. The staff was fast friendly and efficient.

As every person in El Paso knows, Chicos Tacos gets overcrowded to a ridiculous amount. You have people coming out of the door during weekends trying to order some taquitos and burgers. When I went here, the sauce for the taquitos was very watery and lacked flavor; essentially, I was better off dipping my taquitos in water, and I would have achieved a similar effect. Despite these issues with the main item served here, the hamburgers tasted good, and everything on the menu was very affordable (do note I am a Californian, so my perception of price is fundamentally warped). Although this was the worst experience I have had with Chicos Tacos from this location, the place is iconic. I would still go if given the chance.

To be honest, I don t know why the locals hype this place so much. Including celebrities? This place is full of flies, you have a view of the cemetery and it s overall not that clean. If you like soggy flautas and a hot dog in a burger bun, this is the place for you. I could swear the only people who hype this place up are the elderly and millennials. I personally wouldn t recommend this place.

My love for Chicos Tacos is mostly driven by nostalgia. My grandpa would bring my brother and I to Chicos throughout our childhood and it was all happy memories. My brother and I would play on the arcade game while we waited for our food. We would get a couple of single servings of Chicos with a side of fries, a hotdog, and a soda. After I finished my tacos (which are actually flautas not tacos) I would dump in my french fries to soak up the delicious red chile sauce before eating them. I went all through high school with friends because it was cheap, delicious, and a chill place to hang out. Lots of good memories then too. I sometimes stop by when I visit El Paso but I must admit for the sake of an honest food review, that the food is not the same as it once was. I know the cheese supplier changed a while back and so the flavor isnt the same there. And the links used in the hotdogs are not the same either. I still like the food but it doesnt have the same kick as it once did. Most importantly, the prices skyrocketed so now poor high school students cant exactly afford it either! But in the end, it good food and always a good time.

As someone who doesnt hail from El Paso, I was eager to try out Chicos Tacos after hearing about it from various sources, including comedian Gabriel Iglesias. However, my visit left much to be desired. First and foremost, the food did not live up to the hype. Despite expectations set by positive reviews, I found the taste to be underwhelming at best. Without delving into specifics to avoid being disrespectful, lets just say that it fell short of what I had anticipated. Furthermore, I advise potential patrons to manage their expectations and be prepared to pay with cash. The overall experience left me feeling less than satisfied, and I believe there are better dining options available elsewhere. In conclusion, while Chicos Tacos may have garnered attention from notable figures, my personal experience does not align with the praise it has received. Proceed with caution and consider exploring other culinary options in the area.

This place used to be an El Paso landmark but not anymore, as a customer of this restaurant for over 25 years, I think this place isnt worth it anymore. The food got way more expensive and the portions way smaller. The tacos are really thin now and they just dont taste the same anymore. Also, the last two times I went my order of six tacos was missing two tacos, that has happened to me twice already, and when I told the manager he didnt do anything about it. Im not coming back, save your money and dont go eat there.

My favorite item on the menu was the burrito. They changed it and now its not as good. The hamburger was delicious, fresh and the meat was as big as the bun. Now its not. Its so sad that for 70 years the menu was great. Now its not the same. I will not be recommending Chicos Tacos to anyone anymore

There is something that hits different with the Chicos location on Alameda. I feel that the food is much better than their other locations. The tacos were fresh with plenty of meat, sauce, and cheese. The fries were crispy and plentiful. The hotdog was delicious (if its your first time ordering this, the hotdog is in the form of a hamburger with sliced weenies, chili beans, and lettuce, pickles, and mustard) I love their grilled cheese sandwiches, too. The coke is always delicious. The employees were very helpful, friendly, and quick. It is usually always packed but it is usually always fast service. Extra parking in the back of the building.

Its the best in El Paso for a reason. The building might be slightly old, but the food is great. Prices are also very good. The tomato sauce is unbelievably good. The fries are tremendously underrated. I strongly recommend the double order with fries. Trust me, youll regret not eating here.

This place is a big fail. All the hype for Taquitos in some unflavored red sauce absolutely horrible. They also recommended the Chili dawg it was nasty. I will not be coming back it s was truly a waste of time and money. This is probably the harshest review I ever left because it was so bad.

This is a must when in El Paso. Affordable and delicious . Is a CASH ONLY! They have 2 locations, I believe, but this one here is better. In my opinion I tried the round dog, double meat hamburger , fries, and a grilled cheese sandwich. I was not a fan of the hamburger, but the atmosphere is good. Totally recommend chicos tacos are better when you dine in vs. take out.

Good all around Mexican and American food in El Paso, TX. From there signature Chicos Tacos to Burgers, fries and hotdogs. Along with a few extras in the menu, it is normal to see El Pasoian to order there tacos with fries.
