Terrible customer service, the guards , who looked like 18 year old children, with their lazy face not wanting to serve. We entered and not a single waitress or waiter, I went years ago and there were many waitresses who offered very good service. Its unfortunate because the place looks very nice, the charm is lost with poor customer service. Consider changing management and firing employees who do not want to work.

I used to love to go on Sundays for their posole but the quality has really gone down and fast!! They would also bring sweet bread and that has also gone away. Wouldnt recommend the food but service was excellent and their specials on beer are really good deals.

We arrived and agreed to have a table in the sun, that was no problem. When the hostess showed us to our table we did not receive any menus. We were left waiting for 40 minutes and stopped the waiter for the table next to us and explained we had been waiting and had no menus. The waiter said he would find our server for us. We waited another 20 minutes until we decided to leave. We left with no menus on our table, no drinks, and not checked up on once. Side note: We were sat outside and were so hungry we bought beef jerky from a stand on the other side of the wall (outside of the restaurant). Her jerky was really good make sure you check her out if interested. Her stand is called Carne Seca Chola.

My recent experience at Malolam was nothing short of horrid. It all began when I arrived at the establishment with a beer in hand, a common practice given that Im a local resident, and I intended to enjoy it while waiting in the long line. However, without any warning, while I was walking up the stairs, one of the bouncers forcibly grabbed my drink and tossed it onto a parked car in the parking lot. This aggressive and unwarranted action left me shocked and frustrated. After this unfortunate incident, my friends and I waited in line for approximately an hour, only to be informed that I had already been kicked out and that they wouldnt allow me entry. This decision seemed arbitrary and without justification, and it felt like a clear abuse of power on the part of the bouncers. I used to be a regular patron at Malolam, but after this unpleasant experience, I have decided that I wont be returning. The treatment I received from the bouncers and the lack of transparency and communication in their actions were unacceptable and have left me with a negative impression of the establishment. A good customer experience should be based on fairness, respect, and open communication, and in this instance, those elements were sorely lacking.

By far the worst bar/club environment. We were sitting at the bar and then approached by staff to give up our chairs to later find out they were set up outside unoccupied. Worst customer service. The DJ had continous rave music for hours it became boring real quick. Theres many options out there and for sure will not return to this place no matter if they have $1 beers that how bad this place is.

Worst experience ever!! If you happen to get an unprofessional a**h*** named Milo ask for someone else immediately. He was so rude to our entire table. He ignored us and then got mad at us for just going to the bar to order our drinks. He proceeded to close us out and said to leave when we were done! To make this clear none of us were drunk or being belligerent the only rude person here was our Waiter Milo who proceeded to yell at us for going to the bar to get our own drinks, stating that by doing so we were making his job harder. Well Milo if you had been paying attention to us it wouldnt have Been so hard. Thats not the worst part he then had the other employees lock us in the establishment until we supposedly paid our tab! We had already paid everything off he went and changed the receipts to add a 20% gratuity charge! What gratuity?! He definitely did not deserve our gratitude or money! Never in my life have I ever been so disrespected by someone who clearly has 0 customer service.

The owner made a decision to kick out an active duty veteran and his friend due to a complaint of a drunk woman who thought we were stalking her. Thats laughable and very unprofessional. Atmosphere is alright, a party is a party. Good vibes and good drink prices. Nice views from the third floor. Very thoughtful to have fans blowing mist, big plus.

Now, the seats are torn, bathroom faucets broken, mirrors cracked, stench smell, 35 minute wait for Terrible food served cold! I hope the property management of Monticello is made aware of the poor representation Malo is portraying! Do not waste your time or money. Walk over next door to La Contesa if youre looking for great ambience and food!

Been here many times at night where it is more a var vibe than restaurant and that is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 with atmosphere. That being said I came today here for dinner and it was so chill I loved it! The food was delicious and clamatos were too. Service Could have been a bit faster but it didnt matter because they did keep checking in on us to make sure we were not missing anything. Definitely recommend here for lunch/dinner.

Love the music and bartenders service. I went on Saturday after 5 years of not being there, and I just didnt like that it was overcrowded. One rude waitress kept on passing by, and every time she did, she had something to say... anyways, the bouncers kicked out a pair of young guys, and on their way out, one of the bouncers punched one of the kids in the face, I mean they were not resisting, there was no reason for that. Then he came back and apologized since he noticed we saw him. Its just too much going on, I guess.

A place of hard-working thieves... its useless... there are women who work with security... they excite you, they touch you to steal your wallet... and then if you realize it, security takes you out saying that youre drunk. ...and she and they always win.. I just came from that site and observed 3 attempts to steal purses from the same woman who dances and dances with everyone... it is a dual purpose site.. it is to steal and steal .... it is unfortunate to see such a beautiful place that lends itself to robbing the rich of the sector

Malolam has always been an establishment that Ive cherished. Id come on Sundays although its one of their busiest days, but service was always on point. Now...Im not sure what happened. I want to like this place. My husband and I will not be returning. We decided to eat dinner and have drinks here two nights in a row. Friday night was exceptional! Thus 3 s! Our waiter was wonderful and on point. The drink shown in my pictures(a paloma) and our mushroom tacos were great. The waiter was very good about explaining the choices of mezcal and what the kitchen had run out of. The price seemed fair. The energy of this place was fun. Then we made the mistake of going again Saturday night. About the same time of day. It was a disaster. The waitress was not good. We are from out of town (still south texas though) and I ordered a michelada. My husband ordered a paloma. He literally was served mezcal and soda water or something like that and I was served a glass 1/4 full of lime juice. And a beer on the side. Then the waitress tried to help us? She went back and just made his drink stronger and told me I wanted a clamato drink. The tacos my husband ordered were served with o e he did not orderand she was like well the kitchen is out? The manager stopped by and actually was insulting banging my glass down when I told him our meal was going terrible. He said well you don t know what a michelada is this is a michelada what you wanted was a red beer.And so forth and so on. Hey bud the customer should not be insulted. He did remove the drink price from our bill. I did not eat my food because I was over it. Lots of other great options in El Paso. So 3 s! For Friday -0 stars for Saturday.

A group of friends and I made a reservation in the upper level of Malolam (Malo Alto) and got bottle service as we wanted a place for us to sit comfortably and have a good time. 12:50 AM came and a bouncer with a very rude attitude started kicking people out, including my group, off the upper level, since according to him, his bosses were demanding the upper area to be closed. At this point, we were still halfway from finishing the bottle we purchased and had just recently gotten a refill on ice and mixers. We asked if they would accommodate us downstairs in a table so we could continue enjoying the bottle service we had already paid for and received a straight NO for an answer, and not even the smallest attempt to accommodate us was made. What really troubled us is that after we made ourselves to the lower portion of the bar, we saw at least 3 groups of people still sitting down unbothered and enjoying themselves at the upper area that was supposed to be closed. We asked a bouncer what was that all about and we were told if we didnt like it, we could make ourselves out the bar or he could simply kick us out. What it this all about? The $600+ dollars we spent for bottle service was not good enough? A bottle we couldnt even finish and were forced to leave behind. It seems Malomam is turning into a classist bar where you must have some sort of status or know someone from the management/staff to have a good time and be treated with respect. If Malo Alto closes at 1AM as claimed, that should be clearly communicated at the time of reservation or by the waiting staff, but that is not the case as we clearly saw how people stayed in that upper area way past 1AM. We have been longstanding customers of Maloman since its beginnings; this is no longer the case after this bad experience.

I had such great expectations for this place because I was told they were having live music. Been here once or twice and it was a fun environment with good food and drinks. That said, it seems like the customers are becoming more and more disorderly/violent. I live next door and can definitely say that the cops respond to issues at Malolam every other week. Last Sunday afternoon, the cops had weapons drawn after a fight in the parking lot. This place was good - and can be again. Ownership just needs to clean up the bad actors.

I was very disappointed with the way the manager refused service last night to a group of young men (some disabled veterans ) . These young men defending OUR country!!!REALLY??? !!! The worst place in El Paso to night out. The Saturday s the guys can t enter with sneakers but the girls can. The only way you enter if you pay the bouncer. The bouncer are operational cost don t did their job. Go to other place. If your visiting El Paso. Also, they don t have dress code in the website. We re visitor.

Sundays are good there for brunch. The pozole and music are great. However, it gets too packed. The hostess/waitress allowed people she knows to seat themselves in the patio even though some of us were waiting ahead of them. They dont do a good job of controlling the customers during their happy hour and continue to ply people who are obviously too drunk to drive with shots. It gets difficult to enjoy lunch or music this way.

Malolam is a bright and colorful spot in the Montecillo Apartment area. I went with my friend who had come into town for the weekend. I got the carne asada tacos with the corn and my girlfriend got the Malolam Tacos with the corn. The main thing I have to say is that the tacos were definitely good, but no way were they worth $6 each. Our server was very confused as well, not giving us a single menu the entire time stating that they didnt have any and didnt mention the prices of the tacos he recommended. I will probably be back again, but I am going to need them to either lower their prices or have way better service next time for my review to change.

This review is for the waiter who was incredibly patient with us. We stopped at Malolam for what we thought was going to be a family dinner on a Friday night, we had checked it out online and the menu looked like we could modify some stuff for me (vegetarian) and my kids (picky eaters). Unfortunately we arrive and the menu is not the same, likely due to the pandemic they had changed it dramatically. I nervously asked the waiter if we could get some plain quesadillas, my two youngest were already crying. The whole experience was incredibly uncomfortable BUT the waiter kept his composure and did his best to help us deescalate the tantrums that would have surely made the situation worse for everyone in the place. What food we did get was good, the drinks were amazing. I give myself a 1 star for not reading the situation better . So to the waiter that helped us out - THANK YOU. Keep up the great service!

Had a terrible experience here. Was recommended this place by a friend and got terrible service when we were there. First off, when I get there I ordered a water and I never got a water (had to share with my friend). Then we order food, which takes a long time to come out just to come out cold and not how we ordered it. My friend is vegan and order her food as such from the menu and when we got it, it had cheese and an egg on top. All of our plates came out hot but the food on top was cold and I got eggs on mine and it was gross cold. We told the staff our food was cold and that our friends meal didn t come out vegan and they did not seem to care. Then as we were checking out, we could not get cashed out. We asked to remove the vegan meal as my friend ended up eating nothing and we had to ask twice for that do be done. We also were trying to split the check and our server chose not to help us with that. One of our table members had to approach the bar to get our bill figured out and we ended up having to all split the bill evenly because we couldn t get help splitting the checks up by who order what. We were a party of 6 so gratuity was included, which I didn t like at all as I never even received a water glass of my own and my food came out cold. This place is not worth it for their prices. Will not be returning here.

Very good place in general, they should be a 4 start but, the DJ was kind of rude, he needed to be tip so he can play good music. I believe he gets paid to do his job regardless. At the end of the night he did a great job.

Idk if this place is new or something but it seemed like everyone (meaning the staff) was more interested in their personal business, phones and dancing to the live DJ than anything else. Was served a drink right away but then took me to finish my drink to get the bartenders attention again to order my food, which came out cold and tasted like it may have just been reheated? I had the carne asado and grilled chicken tacos. Honestly the worst tacos I ve ever had. Had to ask for a napkin several times and instead of apologizing for being distracted by her coworkers she said didn t I give you one ...had higher hopes for this place as it came highly recommended...maybe it s better later in the evening when people aren t busy figuring out how to open the establishment and standing around talking to their coworkers.
