The food is decent. This review doesn t reflect the actual servers, which are almost always great, but for some reason the establishment is often trying to get a little extra money by charging items inconsistently. This food is already pricy as it is but they were trying to charge me extra for some broth with when ordering side of tendon. Adding the broth to the order of tendon is (4.99) A side of Tendon (4.99). I asked if I can get a pho (9.99) and replace the skirt steak to get tendon instead and they denied that request. Like that s just being cheap petty? I dunno, not demure.

try something new when u go to a viet restaurant! stop ordering pho! try bun bo hue from here and it will change your life! its my first bun bo hue ever but its so delicious, i had to pack the leftover soup to go to add veggies to it at home because i love the broth so much! The house special eggroll were so fresh and crunchy, the meat inside tje eggroll was so flavorful too! I like to get blanched bean sprout with my order and you can ask them to do that as well :) would come again definitely!

Excellent first experience at East Ocean, instant favorite. The service is excellent, staff is friendly, courteous, and very knowledgeable of their menu. Food is made FRESH, really liked all the items we ordered. Zero complaints on that department. I do have to highlight the iced coffee, it was superb, another instant favorite. The premises are clean and well kept. Definitely recommend and definitely coming back.

The service is incredibly friendly and the food is delicious. I was asking about the iced coffee and was offered a sample. The east ocean egg rolls are addictive! Very convenient drive thru, the food is made fresh but the wait is not long at all. Youll wait longer at some fast food drive thrus. Edited to add that the food is still hot after a 30+minute drive home.

Server was to distracted. Brought out our food one item at a time. The first thing got cold before everything else got there. Waited on service. Didnt even get a pen to sign the check and almost didnt leave a tip because of it.. luckily she was able to bring me one before I walked out. Little things matter in the service industry.. she could have made way more then she did.

Very clean, calm and relaxing atmosphere. Service was fantastic! The young man that served us was great, helpful and willing to accommodating. The food was great! I tried the meatball pho, and it was explained to me that it was not like an Italian meatball. These meatballs were more like a sausage without the casing. The broth was fantastic along with noodles and the extra trimmings. Husband had Lo Mien chicken, which was delicious. We also had chicken egg rolls.

(From 3 stars to 5)....Alec our waiter was very friendly and personable...the food was fair, edible, nothing wrong but lacking the traditional Vietnamese flair, the place was clean and bright, the female owner gave me an attitude when I didnt hear what she said...we almost left...but I swallowed my pride and shut my mouth...wish the owner was nicer...but she wont keep us away unless it becomes a habit....we might eat here again but will try other places first. Thanks Alec...it would be prefect if the food was as good as the waiter! (And the owner was as nice as the waiter). We have since eaten here again and the food was delicious, the server was super friendly (Marco) and no rude owner around, lol. We are happy we tried it again. We are happy to increase our rating to 5 stars.

Waited for 10 minutes and there are at least 3 clean tables! One waitress going back and forth but no help! Told busboy to at least sit us, nope he only ignored you! Been here many times, but todays service is the worst. UPDATE 2/14/24: Waitress letting people cut the line!!! 3 groups waiting patiently and some young couple must be her friends come and sit without waiting! I asked, Are you taking reservation? She said No; so why did you let people come n sit without waiting like everyone?. Every time the owners are not here, its lawless!!!. Time to find other places to eat.

This was out first time here and it was perfect. We will definitely make more trips here. They have a lot of vegetarian options, friendly staff, and a very clean and mellow atmosphere. I got tofu pho w vegetable brooth, my husband got a fresh vermicelli noodle bowl he said was very tasty, and my son got the chicken pho small size which was a perfect medium size bowl. We tried tofu spring rolls and the vegetarian fried veggie rolls, both really great. Highly recommend! Oh, and thr Thai tea is perfect

Small space but I dined in after the lunch rush so it wasnt crowded. Server was friendly. Beef pot stickers were excellent. I lived down the street from this place for years and had no idea it was there until a couple of days ago. My wife and I went and it was the greatest experience I ve ever had in a restaurant. The service was amazing, honestly top tier! I forgot the servers name unfortunately but she had glasses. The best Pho i have had in my entire life, I recommend this to everyone I meet now. It had an amazing amount of both noodles and meat. The flavor was immaculate! The owner was walking around throughout our visit and towards the end we had a lengthy conversation that resulted in me understanding how humble and proud he is of the restaurant. Worth your while and buck! 10/10 in my book

I absolutely love coming to East Ocean. The food, atmosphere, and service are impeccable. I ve been to other Vietnamese restaurants in the area and this one takes the cake. You can tell the management cares about serving quality in all aspects to their customers. The food was delicious! You can taste the freshness of the veggies, and they still had a slight crisp to them. You can hear the woks at work in the back cooking food as ordered, and my food came out hot the way I like it. The plate is well served, and prices are reasonable. The only thing I was surprised about is that they do not serve Bah Mi, but the egg roll was really good too,Service was excellent as the waiter was attentive. Wowzers Kabowzers! that was really good Vietnamese food. Infact, it was PHO-nomenal! But really though, excellent! We started off with the pork spring rolls, awesome peanut sauce! My wife had the pork pho soup, which is a very generous portion for a very reasonable price and then I had the vermicelli salad with pork - flavors are exactly on point! We just couldn t be happier! I love their spring rolls, but I dont eat pork, and theyll make that adjustment with no problem. Crazy about the peanut sauce. I love Vietnamese coffee! And unlike most people, I prefer it hot. That stuffll put hair on your chest, so dont plan on a mellow afternoon after a cup. They also make some mean bon tom, shrimp vermicelli bowl. Thats my favorite. The staff is consistently nice and efficient and kind. The manager really goes out of her way to make sure youre happy. I hope they get a menu in Spanish. We took a friend who had some trouble translating, but she really enjoyed the vegetarian egg rolls. Vegetarian options: They have a lot of vegetarian options on the menu, but theyll also adjust things for you. Some things you might need to give them a little time for, but theyre super friendly about accommodating your dietary needs.

October 10 2023 @ 1:15pm walked in and waited for, who I assume was the owner, to sit us down. He was talking to a customer and even though it looked like the lunch rush was over, I respected the sign that said wait to be seated . He finally sat us down and said the waiter would be with us shortly. He didn t offer us anything to drink. That s fine. We looked over the menu but we already knew what we wanted. We were there for the Phó. We looked over to the kitchen area. I caught the person s eye but she just turned around without acknowledging. She may have been working the drive-thru. There was someone at a cash register but they looked so preoccupied with whatever they were working on. Someone else walked in and the owner went over immediately. I assume it was a pick up because the person sat in the chairs by the door. We continued to wait and made several attempts to flag the owner or the person at the cash register. Still nothing. I glanced back again 8 minutes later and a waiter was still at the cash register. The owner was reading a magazine or something but he never looked up. My wife looked up and we tried to make it obvious that we were ready to order. I stood up hoping to remind the owner that he had sat us down 10 minutes prior. The owner never looked up at us. The girl behind the counter looked at me and then turned around to continue whatever she was working on. After 20 minutes we slowly walked to the door. We held out hope that the owner would see us leaving. I kept looking back hoping someone would offer to take our order or apologize for not acknowledging us. Not even with the sound of the door opening did the waiter or the owner look our way. We ended up just leaving. I ve never been more uncomfortable in my life. We came down from San Antonio and maybe had that out of town look? We re Mexican but we don t dress Mexican. I don t where cheap suits and overpriced shoes. My wife had on a sweater. I was wearing shorts. I couldn t figure out what about us made us look like we couldn t afford to eat there. We don t come to Edinburgh much but this place is definitely on my Do Not Visit list. I m writing this review from an awesome BBQ joint not defat from this place. The service is GREAT here. I m glad you treated us the way you did. I tip regardless of the poor service a minimum of 10%. When the service is GREAT we typically tip 35%. I am so glad we were able to give our tip to a well deserving person. Vegetarian options: Have the air. It s very low in calories. Sip on an air provided in an invisible cup. The utensils were also made out of air. No animals had to be killed for the free air.

Y all need to try this restaurant! The servers are super sweet and attentive, & check on you many times to see that you have all you need. The ambiance is comfy and murals really cool. The restaurant is clean and comfortable as well. The food was AMAZING! The shrimp pho was delicious and the fried rice plate was too. The portions are giant! I will make this my go to Asian restaurant from now on. It s about $20+ per person with a drink but well worth the price. I really loved all our food. A+++ *Update* We went back and had more yummy food! This time we ordered seafood pho, garlic and basil popcorn chicken, tofu lo mein, and a matcha boba tea with almond milk. It was all perfect!

First off let me say that Maya (God, I hope thats how u spell it lol ) was fantastic . Now then, the food was all delicious we had the shrimp spring rolls and they felt so fresh and clean! I went here to celebrate my birthday on the 11th and everything was good, except the dish I had gotten. The Pho was amazing and the boba teas were really good. Especially the Thai tea! Unfortunately I had gotten a fried shrimp Lo mein and it ended up tasting bland which eventually, I felt bad about asking but ended up telling the server if it could be sent back. Im not sure if it was the owner but he ended up coming to our table and apologizing for the dish because it had been missing oyster sauce which the cooks had forgotten to add and thats why it didnt have much flavor. He offered to make it up to me and make me a new dish for free in return which was extremely nice of him! I asked for a shrimp fried rice instead which he made and it tasted really good! Overall it was a nice place, with good food and very attentive customer service, I definitely would recommend and go again!

I wanted something quick to fill me up before work, the server there recommended the spicy beef and I ordered the small portion of it. That wasn t a small . The food is always amazing, and although I havent had pho too often, the pho I had here was the best thing Ive ever had. Aside from that, they have some great apps and I usually lean toward ordered the pork lo-mein (before I tried the pho) The customer service is always amazing as well. Definitely a place I recommend!

Called for drive through. Ordered and tried for the first time the Shrimp Summer Rolls and the Seafood Pho. Friendly service on phone and at pick up time. They also wrap everything really well for takeout. In the past, Ive had the Chargrilled Pork. The flavors for everything have been clean, light and tasty. Texture wise, was not a fan of the shrimp/fish balls in the Seafood pho, but did enjoy everything else. Definitely would come back to try the other pho and menu items.

Ive tried about 5 or 6 pho places in the Edinburg McAllen area and by far East Ocean is my favorite. The pho broth is made from scratch. It was delicious. Their menu seemed to have a lot of other great options besides the pho. The customer service and friendliness of the staff was very pleasant. Highly recommend

I ve tried about 4 different Pho spots here in the Valley and this is hands down the best one. The broth and vegetables taste very fresh. And the soup has a good rich flavor that isn t underwhelming. The broth is so smooth and satisfying. It just makes you feel really good after eating it. The staff is also very kind and attentive, the place is very clean and welcoming. I ve quickly become a regular here and it s one of my favorite to-go joints. Vegetarian options: Many options.

Nick was my server, I ordered gyoza, and round steak pho. Everything was amazing! The food, service, the ambiance was all great! Side note, a table over a customer needed an in depth explanation of dishes and their variations, the server spent awhile explaining and then the owner came over as well. So service is fantastic and patient !

We ate here as a family, four of us all together. Jocelyn our server was awesome! She was kind and down to earth. We ordered the fried rice with tofu and veggies, pho with shrimp (too little shrimp in there- we counted 5 in a massive bowl), 3 egg rolls, and beef lo mein. We also ordered a mango tea my daughter said was amazing. I will make this our go to restaurant when craving down home Asian cuisine. It was SO GOOD and the serving sides are huge. I shared a plate because they serve so much. You won t regret eating there. We all loved it!

I can definitely say that this was the best asian food I got in the valley. We took the pho with pork, dumplings, steam rice with stir beef and egg rolls. Everything was so tasty, being an asian, I have nothing to complain about the taste. They can increase the quantity a little bit. The server was really good. The egg rolls were yummy. While still a modified version of authentic Vietnamese cuisine, the menu has expanded, primarily with dishes to appeal to local tastes rather than creative authentic Vietnamese food. For McAllen, its worth a visit. Staff is still very friendly and nice. UPDATE 4/25/22 The menu has expanded and the selections are far more appealing. My lunch of Vegetable-Tofu Lo Mein (more Chinese than Vietnamese) was very good. The staff remains friendly and extremely accommodating. In one year, they have certainly improved dramatically.

I always get the Chargrilled pork and their incredible egg rolls! I can confidently say I have never had egg rolls as perfect as these are. Soft and delicious pork inside a crispy flakey wrap...youll want to wrap your egg roll in the lettuce they give you and dip that bad boy in their fish sauce. This is my go to place for a quick bite to eat and I have never left disappointed.
