I come to the McAllen/Edinburg area occasionally and Taco Palenque is always the top of my list! I eat at Taco P as often as I can each time I am in town bc it is not available where I live. This is a newer franchise location and it is very clean and well maintained. The food is always incredible! You must try their beef fajitas, flour tortillas, each of their salsas at the chips/salsa bar (my favorite is the magma-hot red sauce). I have no pics to post bc I simply have no self control when a plate of Taco P is in front of me. Treat your taste buds to a glimpse of heaven by visiting Taco Palenque today!!!

Well, Im not going back. All the other Taco Palanques I go to, even Eddies Tacos, serve normal portions of their fajita. When I eat in the afternoon, Taco Palanque always gets my order right, the fajita is perfect. But, EVERY TIME I come for breakfast I go to someone because they insist that they dont sell fajita with eggs even though the other Taco Ps do give it to me. And then sometimes when I order it and they give it to me, they give me like pounded steak or something, I dont know, but I know its not a fajita. I didnt like spending $5 for an egg-filled taco with beef patties that I didnt order. At least my Mexican potato taco was good. (Last thing, ALL places give 2 tortillas when I order corn, except this place. Like they dont like me or who knows but I wont go back. I recommend the other taco ps, they are more consistent.)

8/11/2024 Update: we decided to try their happy hour menu. We had their nachos with chicken, street corn cup and margaritas. All was good; however, the margarita tasted like it didn t have any alcohol in it. I would recommend drinking a beer instead. 3/2023 - We have ordered breakfast tacos from here a few times. This morning was the first time they messed up our order. They made it right after I called and gave me a new taco.

That man says he is a general manager, but he has nothing of that. He is rude and on top of that he raised falsehoods for me. Apart from that, he dares to scold the girl in front of me and it wasnt even her fault and he grabbed her arm, thats crossing the line. That is unacceptable. I asked him for his number or to speak to someone higher up than him and he denied it. It is not intended to be anything. They better take care of their clients. They dont know that customers should be treated with respect.

The average order will be $15 or more. However, you do have access to chips and condiment bar. The restrooms were clean and plenty of servers to help you out. They do offer military and police office discount. The food ranges from fajitas to salads. I came on Sunday July 28 ar 9ish to get myself an order of two tacos with cheese with Fideo and an extra one. Just meat. Asked for chips and limes and salsa at the first window and then again when I paid at the second window, didn t realize until I got home that two of my tacos had no cheese. Live on Monte Cristo had to go back had a little issue with doing my order all over again from fresh, but at the end the manager was able to resolve my issue and gave me my whole order fresh, I kept the old one kept while asking for the old one, but told him nicely that I wasted my time and it is not my fault. I said it three times and I Always come here still has good customer service.

I will not returning and if I do, it wont be at this location anymore. Its the third time Ive gotten a chorizo an egg before work last time I got potato and egg, and the egg was way too ugly and cold and I was in such a hurry that I didnt get to post anything but this time, its the chorizo , it wasnt even cooked right its seriously just disappointing already do better !!!. I am a person who loves the mexican cuisine at taco palenque; however, my last experience was quite unplesant. My first red flag emerged when the two evening cashiers were flirting directly in front of me (which good for them) but it completely impared them from taking my order. At this point, it was the first time I asked for limes. As I arrived home to devour the delicious goodness that is Taco Palenque, I unraveled the foil incasing only to find my order was completely wrong- and that they didnt put limes but that was besides the point. Naturally, I went back and proceeded to tell them my order was wrong and asked them for a second time for limes and told them I wanted maiz casero tacos like 5 times or so. Upon recieving the bag, I asked for limes for a final time this night (because they were not in the bag) and finally recieved them. As I sat on my bed and unwrapped the foil for the second time, I realized my maiz casero tacos were harina casero tacos. I love taco palenque and Im not even mad, Im just deeply dissapointed. Im never going back. I was so troubled I just had to write this review even as a former drive thru worker. I cannot believe how much I had to go through to have dinner after a long day, so I made you waste your time reading this as you would going to taco palenque on university.

On Monday July 1st, 2024, my wife and I went to dine in at the Taco Palenque on University Drive at around 8 pm. I ordered a regular size menudo and a michelada drink while my wife ordered a fideo loco and also a michelada. The place was clean and inviting, there were about 5 or 6 people sitting, eating there. Our order arrived about 10-15 minutes later. The first thing I noticed was the michelada was just the color of beer with a little red on the bottom, I was surprised cause micheladas are supposed to be all red and spiced up at top. The menudo arrived and the taste was acceptable but nothing impressive. The cuts in the menudo were large and sloppy, too much fat was not cleaned out of the meat pieces. I tasted my wifes fideo and it was good. All in all it was ok but there is room for improvement. Hopefully they correct these minor issues. Their fajitas and some other plates are delicious.

The service at this location has really declined in the past year. When an order was placed there was a very good chance you were going to receive everything. Now more often than not in missing something. Staff has a very I dont care attitude. In fact the last time I was there I asked the lady at the widow to please make sure everything was included and she just laughed, then much to my surprise I was missing a $7 item. I had to split my order with my daughter because they forgot her item. I tried calling to let them know, no one ever answered. In fact I called an additional location, no answer. Im not sure what kind of impression Taco Palenque is trying to leave with its customers, but its not a good one.

The small fajita quesadilla was tasty But definitely not worth the $5.19 for it. You would think it would be A large tortilla folded in half instead of a small tortilla folded in half. I also ordered a guacamole tostada/ chalupa. It had big chunks of avocado and no seasoning whatsoever with a lot of lettuce, A little tomato and a few sprinkles of cheese. Bine a taco Palenque from Edinburg TX on university st. They treated me very well with respect, they are very friendly, I wish it arrived in the box. On Sunday we, 25% of the whole family went to Tacolandia, Edinburg TX just at front of Alma Mater and enjoyed personalized tacos!! Me? Los Callejeros it was the deliciousness but the funniest was: We havent car to arrive there, just my 30 foot long working unit (thats including my F150 crew cab and utility trailer... cardboard bales loaded (4), to parking right here at Taco Palenques parking lot I put the truck inside dumpster and the trailer occupied 4-5 lots. The food in general was good but the service and attention from some of the employees was terrible. I ordered a barbecue to take away but in the end I decided to eat them at the restaurant. When he said that to a person who was cleaning the tables and the supervisor, I dont know what it is, they made a face like I already gave it to him to take away, ok I tell him there is no Problem, can you provide me with some dishes? He gives them to me with a look of now that he really wants more. I immediately told the guy behind the bar, can you give me a bullfighting chile, and he said yes, of course. And the same guy answers no, I dont have, I mean, I tell him the guy just told me yes and well, they gave them to me right away. The guy never stopped passing by the side of my table and made a gesture of annoyance if I got up. eating sauces left me alone looking as if they were going to charge him, I mean. This location on University Dr. took 25mins and there were hardly any people there, Trenton is much busier than University location and they can keep up with their orders. I have tried to give this location many opportunities to correct their issues but their customer services really isnt the best. The tacos are often with ingredients outside the packaging. They always forget for the items I ask for on the side (paid for) or even the ones I am asked when placing the order. I dont see the point of being asked what salsas I want and then have them put the ones they want. Which in todays case were already expired and looked brown. I wouldnt mind if it was rish hour but I was literally the only vehicle in line. Their service has just been getting worse and worse. Sadly, the word of this has already spread around our office which typically eats there quite a bit.

Had ordered papa & chorizo tacos for breakfast. It had only one PIECE of chorizo. The other just smelled like chorizo but only papa was visible. Took it back & the manager had such a stank face. Very rude , no manners. She didnt even speak. She just held up the 2 tacos showing me the one piece of chorizo. Letting me know here is the chorizo. I asked her, where is the rest? She actually rolled her eyes before she threw them away. She just walked away. She didnt let me know they would make more. NOTHING! Very unprofessional. Taco palenque needs to put some $ into training their management. Horrendous attitude.

Good was okay, but not amazing. Sauce bar needed to be freshened and they were out of chips. Fajitas were dry. The rest of the meal was pretty good. Generous serving size.

The parillada for 2 wasnt that great..the rice smelled nasty and old. Threw it away..the beef and chicken fajita were good but not as much for 2 persons. Better off buying 2 tacos for ach person same price and more food inside them..

Ordered the two pirata Jr combo. This was what it looked like. Thought maybe they accidently put too little of the meat in my taco, so I brought it up to one of the employees, and I guess the manager heard and said that there was no mistake. The pirata Jr taco only has 1 oz of meat. So yeah... $15 meal comes with 2 oz of meat, carrots beans and a drink. Just FYI.

It had been a while since I went to Taco Palenque. They have made some improvements and Im really glad I went. They offer delicious authentic Mexican as well as Texican food: the street tacos are served on the traditional two small corn tortillas. They also have full sized tacos, which are well stacked, burritos, quesadillas, parrilladas, breakfast tacos, enchiladas (entomatadas, mole, green red, suizas, you name it), tostadas, plates, and more. Place your order, fast food style, take your number and set it on your table (theyll bring your order to you), and as they prepare your meal you can get your drink, and some chips and salsa from the salsa bar. The chips are Mexican style tortilla chips, not the sad paper-thin American kind! The salsas include a molcajete style, fresh Pico de Gallo, red, green, jalapeños toreados, onions, and cabbage slaw garnish for your tacos. I got the 2 Matamoros taco meal with a side of fideo soup and a drink. The Matamoros tacos were made with two full sized corn tortillas, and stuffed so well I divided them up and made four nice sized tacos out of them adding some Pico de Gallo, salsa and garnishes from the wonderful salsa bar. They were generous with the meat and the avocado, less so with the cheese. It was wonderful, but I would have enjoyed more balance between the avocado and the cheese. The fideo soup was also delicious, though I didnt see the lime, which would have added a lot. The dining room is nice (fast food type, and informal). There is an indoor childrens play place. Parking is ample and well lit. Handicapped spaces are available. I did not see the restrooms. What I did see was clean and well run. The food was served hot, freshly made, and in good time. The prices are competitive. I will definitely go again. Id like to try the tacos al pastor. They offer pineapple on their tacos al pastor, which is a plus for me. Does anyone know if they use an actual vertical spit (trompo)? I did not see one. Vegetarian options: Its not at all a good option for vegetarians. Have you ever heard of a vegetarian Mexican restaurant? If so, it probably wasnt Mexican. Parking: Plenty of parking. Handicapped spaces are at the front. Kid-friendliness: Childrens play place indoors. You can choose a table where you can monitor your children. Wheelchair accessibility: It is wheelchair accessible

Food is delicious here. Whenever I want to grab some Mexican food, Taco Palenque is one of my go to spots. One thing I have to admit is be sure to check your order during busy hours cause it does get packed and hectic and you could end up with missing items or the wrong order. Vegetarian options: Impossible burrito and impossible crunchy tacos are vegan if you ask for no cheese. Chips. White rice and black bean tacos.The only salsas I know that are vegan are the salsa roja, pico de gallo, and tomatillo. The rest are vegetarian.

I love Taco Palenque, specially this location, they make my Tacos Callejeros the way I like them. You can come here for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Staff is friendly, and theres an employee that he always stands out, his name is Johnny, he is very attentive, and always ready when a customer arrives. I highly recommend this location in specific, and their food is great, as well as the tostaditas and the salsa bar!!
