Food was good and although staff looked tired af since it was the end of the work day, the two ladies I spoke directly to were as friendly as could be expected. Just let me clarify. Walked in around 9:30 and they close at 10. Unfortunately the game at UTRGV ended late but I was desperate for their shrimp tostada. At least 5 workers there and they scattered as we walked up. No biggie. One offered to help and I inquired about it being so close to 10 and if it was a problem? She said no and walked away after I said Id use the board to order manually. Obviously the place was empty but the drive thru was hopping. We ordered and sat down. Dining area was in shambles. Wet spots all over the floor, dirty tables, napkins, trash and drink area was a hazard. Im no Karen or Ken but this was bad. This place usually has wet conditions on the floor when I visit. Why come back? Because I love the food that I have tried, especially the shrimp! My partner in crime says she will never go back but I will but my expectations are low(er). I get it, I really do. Times are tough and people just dont care anymore about the whole experience. Did I get food poisoned? No. Did I die? No. Would I like a cleaner eating experience? Yes please. I wish I would have taken pictures but what does it matter? If I took the time to warn folks that should say something. Stick to the drive thru if you dont care about what is happening behind the curtain. If you want to eat in a clean dining room, skip this one. Im craving a shrimp tostada again though. Just saying.

This El Pollo Loco is on West University Ave. and McColl, in front of the Lowes Home Improvement store. The building is relatively new and is well maintained, clean, and has a quiet, relaxing, family-friendly atmosphere. El Pollo Loco is famous for their grilled chicken, salsas, delicious sides, and a variety of dishes entrees starting their chicken; burritos, tacos, chicken bowls, salads, soups, family platters, etc. Its one of the few places that have multiple gluten-free options (I found out since I have a family member allergic to gluten). The young lady who took my order was friendly, courteous, and patient while I asked questions. The food really is delicious. Its fast food, but real food, with lots of healthy options at reasonable prices. My family and I really enjoy it and think you will too. Parking: Free private parking lot and well lit Kid-friendliness: High chairs available Wheelchair accessibility: Handicapped parking available by the front door. No steps to enter.

Compared to the other two locations (McAllen & Pharr), this is the best pollo loco in the RGV. Not only the cleanest restaurant, but also the food was way better and chicken is always fresh. As I was waiting for my order, I noticed that the gentleman in the grill was making sure everything in his area was clean. That says a lot about his work and the food! Shoutout to the griller!

We ordered two burritos, chips and Queso, and macaroni. The lady at the window only gave us one burrito w/ chips and Queso. When we went inside to tell them about the missing items, they told us we didnt order a second burrito and macaroni (which is wild). Then they told us it was too late for them to make the second burrito, so we were out of luck. Would not come back here.

Had the grilled chicken: the whole meal was not delicious, but good enough. The only part of the food that was bad was the corn tortillas; they got cold almost immediately as they got to the table, it would be nice if they were served in foil paper instead of the plastic bag. They were also stuck together and not heated enough. The service and atmosphere was decent.

Second time coming here and it is the worst pollo loco. Minimally served both times. 1st time I got the family pack and this time the pollo bowl for my family. The general manager , a lady, was the one who was serving and she was telling the staff how it should get done. I saw her spreading the chicken. Since I got it for take out I didnt check until now how miserable she was with every plate. Literally just a few pieces spread to cover with chicken. she also did not seem friendly with her staff or with customers Last time I will be coming to this pollo loco. I feel for all those who come here for lunch. I had gotten blood work and with this small plate it was ridiculous. Spend your money at another place

We ordered through drive thru and ordered a family meal with three large sides. When we got home we saw that the containers were half full and they gave us the wrong chicken. We were also overcharged! I spoke to the manager on duty which she informed me that the reason they filled the side of containers half full was because the GM was getting after them because the containers were being filled to the top! THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! How are we to feed our family of five if we are being scammed out of food!

I love getting the $5 bowls they re good and economical but I hate the service. Every time I go they have either an attitude or will take forever to attend you. I was there today waiting for about 5-10 minutes I saw an older lady passing behind the register who seemed like the manager didn t even acknowledge me or ask if I had been helped or even informed me someone would attend me soon. They need to replace or retrain management and staff, I ended up leaving without purchasing anything due to no one tending to me and I shouldn t have to ask for someone to take my order, there should be someone assisting at the registers. There wasn t a line at the front end there was about 3 cars in the drive thru but again not a since person acknowledged me at the register so please retrain or do something about that customer service.

I like the burrito the first time the 2nd time I ordered a burrito on veterans day Im a veteran I ask the female manager can you please make the tortilla a little bet more brown(cooked) her reply was thats the way it comes. My reply was its a customer request Im paying for something I bought and requesting how I want it cooked. She walked away from me. I came home and turned on the skillet to cook it more. Other than that the food was o.k..she needs to think out of the box its what the customer wants and paid for not what or how they want to give you. She needs more training how to accommodate the customer.

Food is delicious. We had a beef stuffed quesadilla, 2 piece chicken meal and a queso blanco burrito. The corn and Mac and cheese is also good. The reason I had to take away a couple stars is because the side that came with one of the meals and an additional large side that I ordered was missing from the order. The store is about 20 minutes from my house so I m not going to drive all the way back for something that small but it s frustrating when you get all the way home to realize all of the food isn t there.

The management at this place needs some training. Every time you ask for a condiment, they sigh as if you are bothering them. I now drive farther to a different Pollo Loco and avoid this one. They actually served me dried out chicken and did not like it when I brought it back to them. Someone actually took my order and it was not an automated system like the worker was saying because they asked for my drink I told them the sides I wanted what sizes and they gave me the total and everything. I had waited about 15 minutes in line because there was cars in front of me. As soon as I got up to the window an older woman and a younger lady told me they were closed and they couldnt accept any more orders. I told them I ordered basically 20 minutes ago before 10:00 and they rebuttaled saying its an automated system taking the orders even though it was an actual person taking my order because they asked for my drink they knew the size of the sides I asked for and what burrito I wanted with a total as well. I told the lady that was the rudest thing Ive ever seen and Ill never do business here again just because of that. I understand they close at 10:00 and they need to do closing chores, but if a customer orders before closing waits in line 20 mins after closing time you cant refuse to serve them especially after you take their order. Messed up part is that cars in front of me all got their order and roughly ordered basically around the same time 9:48-9:51 pm. They all got their food I was the only one that ordered and was refused service. If I was the owner I would fire the old woman and young lady who were working the window tonight for costing me money paying their hourly wage while getting diminishing returns of or myself because they threw a $25 dollar sell just to go home early. Im sure this happens often since it seemed so normal to them bet this place is losing alot of money.

Older woman there is so rude I asked for extra dressing because my salad barley had any she kept arguing with me that it had enough, to the point I go so frustrated; lost my appetite and returned my food. She made me so angry I left crying. Why are they so stingy with salad dressing. She didnt have to be so rude.
