I love this place, i ve been eating here for years. Very good and affordable food. Service is always great however this past weekend I went for breakfast and the older man who checks you out at the door was very rude, had a nasty attitude. Seemed to me like he didn t want to be working. Not a good look for your business, very unwelcoming. Do better.

This is the place where all the locals eat. It s like Mayberry in here everybody knows everybody. The servers are friendly and fast. The food is delicious. Anything from Machacado to chicken fired steak. Down home cooking at its finest in the Rio Grande Valley.. Food

Tucked away off the main road is a gem of a restaurant. Dont judge it by first appearance or parking lot condition. Breakfast is all I have ever had here, and the breakfast tacos are good sized and loaded with ingredients. If you can get Erica as your waitress, you will be pleased with her service.

We have been faithful patrons of the Tamez family owned restaurant - El Patio Cafe - in Edinburg, Texas for over 24 years! Years ago, my daddy, Eutiquio Elizondo, Sr., gifted a hand made barbed wire cross to The Tamez. The Tamez family has made my daddys cross a part of their Cafe home, and it still hangs on their walls to this day! My great nephew, Christian Castillo, would go eat there as a child with my sister (Christians grandma) and our daddy on many occasions. Christian still has vivid memories of this restaurant and of the same table they used to sit at. He was SO happy and proud to see that a piece of his great grandpa was there. In memory of our daddy, we had a photo taken of the empty chair, representing our daddy. Exactly where my daddy sat everyday for breakfast with family and friends. PRICELESS MEMORIES! We hosted my grandsons graduation party there this evening .... since he had received a mariachi stole for the McAllen High School Class of 2024, the restaurants Fiesta theme and decor were perfect. The entire process of organizing and planning for the party was most awesome...Cris was the contact person and made working together so easy...I had direct access to her via phone/text and was able to get all the info. needed to plan properly along the way. We went on Tuesday this week and we had told the server that our enchiladas were salty so she said she would get her mom when the lady came to our table she said that her enchiladas are the best in the menu and that no one had complained other than us and that they rarely put any salt in them she had an accusing tone since the beginning so I told her that we were not trying to get out of paying. We were just telling her that our food was salty, and then she looked at the table and said maybe you guys over salted it we did not add any salt to our food. she told us that it was probably the cheese on the enchilada that was salty because it seem like they put to much of it on .she blamed the cheese on the enchilada we just payed and left overall very disappointing we had gone before with no problems just this time and when we mentioned it we were treated like scammers .

If the service was as good as the food I d give it a five star review. Unfortunately there s one waitress that s very rude. Never greets us just walks up and asks if we re ready, walks off in the middle of our sentences, and will literally leave me without a beverage the entire visit to the point where i have to get up with my empty glass and ask for some more. Other than that the food is so good and high quality. I recommend any breakfast plate and the carne guisada. The owner is also such a sweet lady :)

I dont normally like to leave bad reviews but this has happened already on multiple occasions. I dont know the name of the waitress so ill call her Doris since she looks like Doris from Shrek, the mole and makeup are on point. Shes very rude to some of her customers and always seems to have a bad attitude from what I have observed. If you decide to dine here, I would suggest avoiding her and requesting someone else. I must say, this place exceeded my expectations. The food seemed unassuming and dare I say bland looking when I first looked at the pictures, however upon my first bite of my burrito plate with carne guisada, I was proven wrong. Truly a delicious experience, the meat was perfectly moist and tender, the bean and cheese complemented the sauce of the carne guisada nicely. The enchilada sauce on top of the burrito was one of the best I ve had, and not to mention the rice and beans were exceedingly great, packed with flavor, and very hot and fresh. The botana was also quite nice. With the fajita and chicken leaving nothing to be desired, among the many other amazing components of the botana like the chips, sausage, and quesadillas. Don t let this humble looking building fool you, the food and service is top notch. Definitely a staple from now on.

This place has been around for a long time, and was still full when I arrived at 9 AM this morning. Its obviously not for the trendy ambience. The parking lot isnt paved, the interior is a mishmash of styles, and there is no nice patio befitting the name. But still the people come. Its obviously the food. The # 1 reason why I will NEVER return has nothing to do with the food but the staff. My waitress was absolutely WONDERFUL but seeing one of the (I assume) owners helping clear the table & TAKE THE WAITRESSES TIP!!! I Kept an eye on the woman that took it HOPING she wld hand it to the waitress & NOTHING. Considering I never saw that thieving woman give the waitress her well deserved tip, I gave the woman a $10 & placed it in her hand to make sure it wasnt STOLEN AGAIN. What an unexpected gem. Everything was being made there. They had great chips. All the food was wonderful. I don t know what s in the enchilada sauce but it was some of the best I have ever had. I called and spoke to Joe the owner. I asked him if the tacos were big or small so I could order multiple tacos if needed. He said they were a good size. I ordered my 4 tacos for myself and my family. Im allergic to egg and specifically asked for no egg in my taco. I drove all the way from south Pharr because I dont know the area because I am visiting my sister and I live in Brownsville. After the long drive I get back with tacos the size of corn tortillas and all with egg. I called back to let him know about the order being wrong and the tacos being small and he said they were $2 tacos and the other tacos were more. I never asked for the price of the tacos, I would have paid more for bigger tacos had I known there was an option. But none the less I cant eat it because it has egg. Everything with a lot of flavor, the problem is that there are a lot of customers and I think there is a lack of waitresses because they take a while to serve you and other times, even if it is full, they serve you quickly. I recommend it, good place for lunch

I came to this café since a man on the RGV FB food group had reviewed Las Vegas Café and mentioned that this restaurant has the better enchiladas. From his opinion this café has the best enchiladas in the RGV and is #1 on his list. However, I didn t like the salsita they had, we were given two. One was hot and the other was suppose to be mild, but had no flavor at all. The hot salsita had no flavor either and was too spicy to even enjoy since they put so much seeds in it. The waitress was an elderly woman and seemed as if she was ignoring us in a way and just got the orders and left. My bf and I ordered the beef and cheese enchiladas and also the nacho plate appetizer. The enchiladas we re pretty filling, but it wasn t really the greatest to be honest, the rice and beans were okay. For sure, the Las Vegas Café enchilada plate is way better in my opinion. But the nacho plate was absolutely horrible, it was just tortilla chips topped with burned refried beans and also kraft cheese slices that were burnt as well. I guess the breakfast is good here from some reviews, but I honestly wouldn t go back to even try that. It wasn t rememberable nor good enough to re-visit.

A great little mom & pop joint. Its off the main trail, so you might not notice it (even if theres a sign attached to the motel sign). I had a large order and they were happy to fill it (just give them a weeks notice). The folks that I ordered for all loved the breakfast tacos.

Awesome breakfast. Never disappoints. My friends bring me here when I visit. The barbacoa deluxe is what everyone should be ordering. Nice portion and you come out feeling stuffed. This restaurant is a gold mine for breakfast. Thank you to all the workers at the restaurant which made a great experience.

Awesome eatery. I had the Nopalitos con Huevo recommended to me by another customer while i was browsing the menu. I love a good recommendation!! I was happy with the flavor, the doneness, the portion and THE SALSA, dont even get me started!! The salsa was flavorful and the heat was perfect. I find some salsas to be too weak on the heat scale or i have to ask for it. Not here. Awesome customer service! Thank you Cynthia for waiting on us and doing a terrific job. Two thumbs up!!
