Tonight me and my husband went to get food like usual on a Friday night! And let me tell you this place did not disappoint. Even though their AC was broken they were friendly and served us. We ordered wings and a fried fish platter and it was so well cooked! Will definitely be going back!

Gets a thumbs up from me! Wings were fresh and decent sized. Sauces were flavorful and they didn t go light on dousing the wings in them like other places. I did an online order and it was right on time. Normally my spouse eats 5 wings in a single setting, but they were so good that she took down 9. A complimentary house made ranch would elevate the experience but it was still a very good experience overall. I will definitely order again soon.

I gave this place 2 because it wasnt just...ok. First impressions are lasting impressions. I placed my order through Door Dash for a pickup. I ordered a 15pcs wing/2 flavors. My total came to 22.39 with tax. The flavors I tried were lemon pepper and Crack wings. There was a small delay with picking up my order based on the time the app gave. I took notice that it was kind of dark there and it didnt feel clean. There were no patrons in sight so I was trying to understand why some tables were dirty. When standing at the register, I noticed that the equipment could use a cleaning. This always make me nervous...ordering food from anywhere. The cashier was extremely playful...Im exhausted and not in the mood. The wings were mediocre at best. Whatever the Crack wings were...didnt hit home and the lemon pepper lacked enough of the flavor to call it that. Both were bland. Based on this experience....I will not return. Parking: Its a small strip shared with Little Ceasars. There is parking in the boack but if you are challenged....you may have a hard time finding somewhere to park.

New to the area and I stopped by to get some wings and I ve been coming back consistently to try a little bit of everything off the menu. Love how the food is made fresh and all the veggies on sandwiches and salads taste fresh . I am always greeted with a happy smile as my order is taken. This place is definitely a gem. Please stop by if you re ever in the area and give the Is place a try . I ve recommended so many friends and family since I tried the delicious wings . But here s a virtual taste of the delicious catfish po boy my absolute favorite!

Came back two days in a row, wings are made fresh and fries are seasoned. Sweet Tea is actually sweet and not liquid diabetes. I got Sweet Hot which are as advertised. Previously I gave the restaurant 5 stars which felt deserved at the time but after visiting the most recent time I m afraid those 5 are down to 2. My reasoning is the wing quality dropped, the sauce got watery, and the price went up. Price: When I posted these photos I spent a total of 17.58 on 10 wings, fries, and a drink. But when I went in this time I almost spent $21 on fries and the wings alone. I ll round up for argument sake, the wings were $13 and the fries $4 + $1.50tax. Maybe my math is off but that s $18.50 but the pay terminal said $21 and change maybe I missed something. I opted out of the fries and only got wings ($13) which were disappointing to say the least. Quality of food: The wings in the photo are sizable and the sauce stuck to the wing. The wings I just received were all half the size and the sauce tasted watered down. The wings were also floppy, they didn t have that crunch you want from your wings. I felt like I was eating dominos wings . I m not sure what happened but my overall experience has dropped I m not sure I ll be back for another time.

Im new to the area; as of yesterday morning, as a matter of fact. What a GREAT WAY to be WELCOMED TO TEXAS than my experience here. I decided to stop at the Little Ceasars next door just to get something quick. I asked my nephew about this place because hes been here for five years. He said he wasnt familiar with it. While waiting for my pizza, I saw a lady in her car outside waiting for someone. I caught her before leaving and asked if she frequented Phat Matts and she said, Oh YES MAM! Quite often and you should try it! So I did ... I was NOT disappointed ... to say the least! The service was AWESOME! The gentleman who took my order was VERY FRIENDLY and with a sense of humor! And the food .... Oh my goodness!!! I decided on catfish nuggets and fries. Even the tarter sauce wasnt just an average tartar sauce. It had a kick to it. I loved every single bite and WILL BE RETURNING soon. Im big on GREAT customer service, and this was it AND SOME! I couldnt have gotten off to a better start with my new beginning here in Texas!

Placed an order online. Pickup was suppose to be at 7:30. Gave them a few extra minutes. Arrived 7:45. Said we dont have a order that came online. I showed the guy that could be less concerned the conformation on my phone. Well, guess what he found the order. I asked so its not ready? He said no, be 30 min. I asked for a refund, told me he couldnt do that, I would have to come back and talk to the owner. Called a couple of times owner was never there. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. The bacon is burnt to the point it ruins the entire burger. The patty is over cooked & dry. I usually ask for my food to be corrected but I already waited 20 minutes just for a burger & I didn t get a receipt. I m not upset because the cook & cashier look & sound like children. I just wasted $10 bc this is going on the garbage. This was my first time & I won t be back.

Literally went in there to place an order and two teenage boys were in there being extremely disrespectful. Both thought it was funny to laugh and do their best not to look at me nor take my order. One even put his headphones in while the other stared at the tv as hard as he could. As I walked out, they both burst out laughing as if it was funny. I should have checked my order before I pay for it.The 2 piece catfish fillet. The fish was so small and they gave me alot fries with the order to cover up the size of the fish. This place was recommended and on the evening I visited, while there were people inside the door was locked. The guy inside would not acknowledge me attempting to enter. I returned to my car and after a few minutes the guy and people approached the and upon them exiting I ask he he was already closed eventhough the posted closing time was 10:00pm, this was 9:15pm. I wont go back things happen but customer service is still key. If thats your closing time great but change your website and sign on your door.

They have lost a frequent customer! The first time I got home with my take-out order and discovered very hard overcooked fish, I did not report the issue. Though I was thoroughly disappointed, I simply scraped most of the hard coating off and proceeded to eat the fish. This time I was given burnt fries with my order. I was not going to let it ride a 2nd time since this place is not cheap. I was told to return for a fresh order. When I returned to the store with the burnt fries I was met with very poor customer service. They literally have untrained unprofessional kids cooking the food and running the store. I will never patronize this place again.

Something was definitely not right about the smell of the wings once I bit into my food.. I just finished eating so hopefully I won t get sick .. smells and reeks like spoiled dog food (and I only ate 3 wings) ! Possibly fried in fish grease , but this is not a fish smell .. THE INSIDE OF THE WINGS DEFINITELY SMELL SPOILED AND WET DOGGISH. I will never eat here again. $40 for a 20 piece and a large fry.

Wings are great but service is anything but. Called over the phone to place an order for pick up and was told I couldnt place an order because the grease was being changed and wouldnt be ready for an hour or an hour and half. No problem, I said to myself, Ill go there and Ill wait until they are ready. Within less than 10 minutes I enter the establishment and placed my order. I was expecting to be told that the grease was being changed, but I wasnt told anything. After I placed my order and waited outside I noticed the young man who answered the phone brought an order out to a car that was already there before me. I was told my order would take 15 minutes or so. I waited about 20 minutes and walked back in to see the 2 young men working 1 with a fro the other with dreads sitting in the corner taking to each taking a break. I said is my order ready he replied yes, walked over and retrieved my order. I thought it was odd that he didnt bring the order out or motion for me to come in ; because he understood that I was waiting. I guess its a common case of not wanting to be at work . Its July 2022 This is still happening. You can call this establishment on any given night after 8:00pm they will make up a lie not to work.

I love to support black restaurants and businesses but my experience was typical of most black owned businesses. It took 1 hour 1/2 to get our food and most of it was cold when we got it . The worst part is me and my sister was the was the only people in the place. The presentation is day and night depending on who is working. Went on a Monday night and the woman and guy working were on point. Wings, fish, fries, toast, pickles, and a pepper. Went Friday and 3 young guys playing in the kitchen, people waiting 30 to 40 mins wings, overcooked fries, and undercooked fish thrown in a paper bag. They open at 11am. Myself and several other people pull up, pull on the door. Phat Matt s Not open yet and they leave. I ordered a cheese burger only which the price was $4.99 then I ordered a cheeseburger basket which I assumed it came with fries and drink because the woman didnt tell me different. She charged $8.15 I asked her once I received my food I didnt get my drink she said and I quote We are a black owned business baby you know how it is....just keep supporting us so if you get a burger ONLY its $4.99 and if you add fries it will be $8.15 and you dont get a basket of fries either I counted literally 14 fries. Convenient location: pizza, wings, and barbecue all on the same strip, reasonable prices. I was picking up a pizza for my brother at Lil Ceasars, and decided to grab some wings (lemon pepper)then went next door to Rays barbecue to get a desert. My wings were small and had no lemon pepper flavoring at all the fries underneath the wings didnt even have that hint of lemon flavor to them (they were good. The shop looked visibly clean till I looked at the glasses by the bar, they were dull, the floor was swept but sticky and the tables were clean. I wasnt thrilled with my wings, IF I go back it would be to try something else.

The fried chicken salad is really good. So much so that I only order this every time I visit. The parking here is horrible and the wait can be long. This place had the best food. We were licking our fingers lol. I m giving it 4 stars because 1. The overhead & paper menu is not accurate. Every time I tried to order something the cashier said they don t have it at this location. Which was annoying because I was hungry and kept picking unavailable items. I tried this place for the very first time today and was very disappointed. The catfish contained too much batter; too crunchy. The shrimp tasted like frozen shrimp from a box. They did not give me any peppers and pickles. I will not be going back.

Customer service is horrible! There is usually only ONE person cooking. The line is ALWAYS busy and some menu items are overpriced. You can call in your order ahead of time and STILL wont be ready when you arrive. The employees are never courteous, rarely acknowledge your presence. If theres more than two people working, you can hear them in the back of the establishment playing offensive music or taking a smoke break. Only reason why I am giving them 2 stars is because the food is good and a nice size portions. The catfish filets is as expected.

I went at 11:10am and no one was up front. I had to walk to the back to find the employee. He told me, were not open yet, I barely just turned on the fryers. This is why black owned restaurants FAIL and this is example #45 as to why I dont support them. Horrible, piss poor service. He told me to come back in 1t minutes. How ridiculous is that? If your sign says open at 11:00am, the fryers should be smoking hot ready to cook! Its hard finding good food and good service in Desoto,Tx.

I called in a order and gave them 40 minutes to get it ready. Arrive only to wait ANOTHER 30 minutes for my order. Giving it a 2 star because the food was decent and my fam workers there, but I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone at all.

I absolutely love the food here, and have come back time and time again even though the customer service is HORRIBLE! The phone line is always busy, as if they leave the phone off the hook, and when you come in and tell them...they never apologize. And let s not forget to mention, they are understaffed... Today @12:30-12:45, I called once, it rung with no busy signal, just no answer. Called back all of 10 times, BUSY...I go in to order, and the only person there is trying to complete orders (understandable), but NEVER acknowledged me! I waited patiently for 5 mins, watching him cook...I finally asked him if he was the only one working, and he responded yes. Ok cool, he s busy I get it...but he still never mentioned he would be with me in a moment...nothing . So, I wait another 5-10 mins and politely asked, did he know when he would be able to take my order? And he replies, in about 5 mins! HORRIBLE!!! I NEVER write bad reviews especially with black owned businesses, but today was the last straw! I ll just have to drive further to get good food and quality customer service. The Only thing I would get from here EVER IS THE WINGS & FISH The burgers are never fully cooked I wish I could upload pictures to this I asked for no cheese because Im allergic when I picked my food up I asked if it was no cheese the man said he would have to remake it I said dont worry about it Ill get something else I opened the burger the cook literally scrapped off the cheese & it was clearly a lot still left on there very sad & poor work

The food is really good. The Phat Bacon burger was well seasoned and very large. The fish was so big one piece was the size of two pieces. The pickles and peppers was hot a delicious. I thought I was going to be disappointed because of the reviews I read but Im glad I went for myself because the food I order was the bomb.

They have really good food, just the portions on the fish and shrimp baskets are small, and definitely check your food if you order to go, they have a tendencies of getting your order wrong. But the food is pretty awesome.

If you want some tasty kitchen-fried fish (though its vat fried), this is by far one of the best locations for it in the area. I also am one to ask for my fish to be fried hard, which it always is - drop $ in the tip jar! I do not ask for the fries to be fried hard for the simple fact that left-over fried hard fries can be dry, hard, with a hint of burnt after-flavor to them. I cannot comment on any other food items since the fish is all that Ive gotten, and probably will be all that I will get. I imagine that for cost reasons, their advertised HofO might not be actual...case in point, Ive called them twice today (as of this posting) and no one answered the phone - does not necessarily mean that theyre closed @ 7:30p (having posted store hours on Sundays until 10p), but I sure had my mouth set on a 3-piece catfish dinner fried hard! ...in spite of the aforementioned, this Phat Matt location is worth a 4-star Liked it.

The menu item I have had most often is the fried catfish and fries. I always request that my fish is fried harder because I dont like it too soft. I absolutely HATE the French fries because they are always limp. Once I asked the gentleman who was cooking if he would let my fries stay in the fryer a little longer--he did, and they were decent. Just cant understand why its so hard to get decent French fries. They do give pretty large portions, but if my food isnt cooked to my satisfaction, then whats the use. The wings were pretty good and so was the burger--but Ive only had those once.
