I m extremely disappointed with my experience at this property. Despite paying $1,400 a month, I ve had to deal with a neighbor allowing their dog to poop on their balcony. This is not only disgusting but also a serious health hazard. It s unacceptable that such issues are being ignored, especially given the high rent. I expected much better living conditions and management.

Please avoid this place a total scam with all the hidden fees they will add on your monthly rent. How do you charge gas fees for an electric apartment not to mention you pay the water bill for the entire building you live not just your water usage. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE

As of July 1st, Texas law states apt complex are the allowed to charge 3x the rent. These apts do NOT care and still try to say that its not true. Look it up and educate yourself folks. These people are scammers.

Nice Staff and great maintenance response, the only thing I regret is I didnt get a chance to enjoy the clubhouse as much as I would have liked. The community is nice and always kept clean, I always wondered why it wasnt gated but theres only one way in and one way out so I guess I can understand that. Overall the apartments are a nice place to call home.

I love living here community is quiet its kept clean The only concern I have is the increase of rent and the water utility me being in a one-bedroom apartment in paying $100 a month on water bill that is insane when I lived in a four bedroom home and I didnt pay $100 for water utility its too many units in this building 18 to be having a high water bill of $100

The apartments are ok they raised the rent up and for what reason l don t know and the water bill is ridiculous. My bill for August 2022 was $121.51 for an apartment is crazy. All my neighbors in the unit l live in has moved since l got here except 1 and the unit next to me everybody has moved all new people. They have a high turn over.

I was never late on a rent payment or missed a rent payment during my entire residence at Mount Veron but they told me at the end of my lease I was 2 months behind on water. Thats a lie and a reason to keep my deposit. I was not even staying in the apartment for 2 months before my lease ended and staff are saying I owe 2 months behind... lie!!! I have all my receipts and will be taking my complaint to the housing authority (Update: after reading another review, Ill be contacting the Better Business Bureau BBB as well). Theres no way with their fees and the way they fee you to death that I would ever get behind on any payment because of all the fees they charge. I will never recommend this apartment to anyone. Please consider all reviews and judge for yourself. I lived there long enough to know how this apartment raises rates and fees. The maintenance however is great and respond quickly to any maintenance issue. I just wish I could say the same for the dishonest office staff.

PROS: For the most part, they are great apartments. The location is great, the buildings are nice and spacious, and the maintenance is good and pretty quick. The units look just as good in person. Theyre definitely one of the best for this area of DFW (bordering Duncanville, Lancaster, Cedar Hill, and south Dallas), nestled next to 65 and 20. Its surprisingly very quiet and peaceful. I like the fact that there are only two stories so you can avoid being sandwiched between an above and below unit. CONS: Not many amenities included in the fee compared to others who have same to lower fees yet include gym, trash concierge, and maybe even wine Wednesdays. There is a gym, but you have to pay extra. The rent is higher than comparable apartments in comparable conditions that are near downtown even. The extra fees range from $80-$100 in addition to the rent, while others have fixed extra fees that are the same every month in the $30/$40s. Your water bill is based upon the usage of the whole building that your unit occupies split amongst the tenants. Actually, you will receive 3 water charges that come from the usage of the whole building, splitting everyones: water service, sewer service, and HOT WATER ENERGY! No, this has nothing to do with the ENERGY bill that you already, independently pay that powers your unit, that you must have in place upon move in. No, this is a separate, private ENERGY charge for heating the water in the entire building. Moreover, I moved from out of state, they refused to remove the washer/dryer (which I pay to rent every month) despite me having my own; I had no where to put them; I ended up donating them to the Salvation Army, and received absolutely no tax credit for that on my tax return (2022) despite having receipt of donation. I had one terrible encounter with the property manager Lola Agar, who is unprofessional, seemingly incompetent, and a hothead. Which brings me to another point--you also have monthly admin. fees, where I guess you tip/pay the admin. to hang up in your face to show how much You Matter. Thankfully, there are some employees that are very nice and professional. However, its one thing to overpay, but its a total other to overpay to one who disrespects you. And in the words of Lauryn Hill--you might win some, but you just lost one. - From a verified resident on ApartmentRatings ADDENDUM: I moved out at the end of June, and its now Sept. 2nd and Im still waiting on my deposit to be returned. When I signed the lease, it was discussed as a year-long lease, however, they termed it for 13 months, which is more than a year. I didnt catch that at sign-up and they charged me for moving out 7 days before the 13th month they wrote into the contract. Even still, I they tried to cheat me out of my deposit by charging me for 14 days, instead of just 7. So, out of $1796 (deposit)--which I believe was unfair because my credit score as 814 and there was no apparent reason or reason provided to require such; nonetheless, I was on a time-crunch relocating for work and didnt contest--I only got back $468.22. After multiple tries to get someone and information at the office, I had to reach back out to corporate MULTIPLE TIMES to bring notice to the issue. Corporate had to ONCE AGAIN make contact with the property to get things done. So now, Im waiting on the rest to be processed, mailed, and received when this couldve been done right the first time. I was just informed today that the other amount is $576.86 and I should be expecting it soon in the mail. So, Mount Vernon has taught me the $750.92 lesson that I actually didnt matter, only my money mattered.

Don t waste your time or money here. These apartments are reasonable, however they are in the hood and you definitely get what you pay for. Random solicitors are constantly knocking on the door. Parking is terrible. Trash is thrown out all over the parking lot. Apparently there is a courtesy officer I ve never seen and have no idea of how to get in contact with. I m forced to deal with an obnoxious and loud neighbor from hell upstairs. The issue has been reported to management but absolutely nothing has been done about it.

Tried to get an apartment here. I was approved but before i was approved i was told they felt as if i was scamming and needed tons of information in which i had because I m not a scammer. I get the approval only for them to say i have to pay 3months rent just to move in. Wow now that s unheard of especially when i have a fair credit with renters history. Worst experience ever. Went from happy to sad real quick. Discrimination at its finest. I will not recommend this place at all. Waste of my time, money and approval. If I could give zero stars i would ve.

Beware of these apartments... I made an application for an apartment. I paid the application fee+$100. to hold apartment unit. I was told by leasing agent Jasmine if application denied I would get my $100. back in the mail within two weeks. My application was denied so I called the leasing agent Jasmine and asked for the corporate office phone number so I could find out when my $100. would be mailed she refused the corporate office phone number and told me it would be 30days before mailed to me. When they getting your money they tell you anything but once they get your money the story changes. I got a feeling that I might not be getting my $100. refund. I have contacted the BBB in reference to their tactics and filed a complaint. So dont trust what the leasing agent saying when getting your money back...

The absolute worse Property Manager (Laura Agar) Assistant Manager (Rachel Ramirez) and Regional Manager (Renee Curry) Ive ever encountered. Laura and Renee are throw backs from the Jim Crow Era! Very unprofessional, unethical and disrespectful. Particularly, of rent paying tenants/residents who bring to their attention legitimate matters of concern in a very respectful, professional and constructive manner. They retaliated against me in violation of my constitutionally protected 1st and 5th amendment rights and Section 92.331of the Texas Property Code. . I filed a lawsuit against the property manager as well as the entire leadership of the company. See Cause No JS22 - 00779H in JP Court Thomas G. Jones filed on September 13, 2022. Jury Trial Demand. There is a serious need to make a long over due management change immediately! A very nice property with plenty of green space. 98 percent African American. Mainly adults and well mannered and respectful families and children. After I filled my initial complaint against Laura with the U.S. Department of HUD and other Housing and Regulatory Agencies regarding their very racist conduct a, especially their lack of African American representation in the management office and utilizing African American contactors (landscaping companies, make ready and cleaning companies, etc.). Laura immediately hired an African American woman in the leasing office. A very nice and pleasant young lady.

I lived here for 4 1/2 years and I had no complaints until I moved out. I received my bill in the mail and they charged me over $1100 for parking near my apartment on the grass to move my things out. I sent an email letting them know I can pay everything else on the bill but lets discuss the $1100 for landscape fee. I did not damage anything they just saw I was parked there to move. No one responded back to me and the next thing I know Mount Vernon sent me to collections. Smh ouch! So now I am dealing with that. They DO NOT HAVE A SIGN that says you CANNOT PARK ON GRASS. I have seen so many people do it in the 4 yeras I was there. No one ever said it was not OK! Mount Vernon Please put a sign out because that is so unfair!

My 1st interaction with Mt Vernon was a beautiful & sweet young lady named Yecina, she was so kind & helped me in every way she could,& to this day she has not changed, I can call & she makes me feel like she is there to make whatever Im go in through Top Priority & Thats what I love abt her, she knows my name & I love to hear her laugh when I say something silly. So I just wanted the Property Mangers at WRHREALTY, realize they have someone really( shining) for them here!! Shes a Jewel!!! Now I want to mention another beautiful access to The Mt Vernon staff & her name is Megan, Megan is new but she is sharp & on her game, she had been a sweetheart & such a help too me in looking for an upgrade in apt, she always said that she would keep me on her mind & thats what she did & ( guess what shes pretty) I love to hear her voice, anytime Ive called shes always been do helpful & she cares abt what happen to U as a resident & a person. There s a new manager that s rude!!! She don t act like she like people of color my husband was in the office for about 15-25 minutes and she was having a conversation a regular conversation with a man like a every day conversation wasn t helping him at all with anything about the apartment. When she finally finished her conversation she ask my husband what he need someone had took our groceries and we was trying to see where they was she was no help she said what you want me to do!! Then we got approved for Texas rent relief she told them that she will accept the money!!! So we thought everything was good NOPE!!! DID NOT LIVE HERE. BASED ON CUSTOMER SERVICE. Yecenia was absolutely amazing to deal with. She worked hard and was very prompt. I ended up going somewhere else that was in a safer and more convenient part of the area. This apartment complex does a hard hit on your credit (the other one I applied and ended up going to did not). Also, if you own a home and or have not paid to rent in the past 5 years, you will pay for it as they call it, if you have no renting experience on your credit report, you have to put a deposit down. This is absolutely absurd to me, they should just go off of your credit score if you don t show rental experience as they desire. Again, I didn t see this anywhere but here. Hope this helps someone.

Returned to my apartment after 4 days out of town for Memorial weekend. Noted hole in ceiling with peeling plaster and water stain along wall and damage to my personal carpeting and exercise machine along with the floor. This is the exact same location where the ceiling collapsed previously and was supposedly fixed. Had previously placed multiple work orders related to the same. Day after work order, received notice work order completed and upon inspection, hole and peeling plaster still present. Management insists on not compensating for damage despite known recurrent issue which was not fixed. This is on top of raising the rent by over 30% since moved into apartment.

Worst place to stay. Last month here, and people that work in the front office. Cant do simple math. Gave my 60 day notice back in Jan. For a price that was told and signed by the employer. But when going to the front to comfort her. She said made a mistake, and didnt know how she came up with a monthly $148 short. Apt is dirty and smells like weed coming from the closet. DONT RECOMMEND ANYONE MOVING HERE!

Yesenia is amazing and the complex is beautiful and quiet! I just moved in and the community and staff are incredible! I will be calling this place home for a long time! Im currently pregnant and cant wait to raise my child in such a warming and lovely community.If you want peace of mind, peace and quiet and an actual staff that cares, then this is the place for you. These are the best apartments weve ever lived in and theyre worth the price! We have a 1 bedroom and its very spacious, and maintained due to the amazing maintenance that (get this) are on call 24/7 for emergencies!! They actually have been out to my apartment for minor things and the issues were fixed to where they didnt have to ever come back and redo it unlike previous complexes Ive stayed in! I just called to get some general information about the community and spoke with Yesenia. She was incredibly welcoming and kind! I was calling for a general market survey update, and most times these can be very tedious for apartment communities to work with me on. Typically I am met with an unwelcoming attitude, but definitely not here! It was a pleasant surprise. If Yesenia was this kind and welcoming to me, how much more I am sure she is with her residents and prospects! Would definitely recommend checking this community out based on my experience with the staff!

Update: I have had to break my lease after being robbed at gunpoint walking from my car to my apartment home. I was planning to renew my lease, as this apartment community is beautiful. Maintenance responds timely to all requests. Plus, Nikita in the office is a gem. Unfortunately, I was not safe here. The security were not patrolling and there were no cameras on my building. At move out, I was charged rent and utilities for the entire month of February and days into March, despite not being there since the night of the crime in early February. I would have continued to live at this community if my sense of security had not been taken from me. Original review: I have been at Mount Vernon Apartments for a month now and absolutely love it here. If you re looking for a new place to call home, visit the office and speak with Nikita she s amazing!

I was upfront about my credit issues she said it would be no issue as long as i didn t owe another complex . Paid the 175 only to be told i need a co-signer which I ve never heard of when renting an apartment. So if your credit is not perfect regardless if your rental history is good do not apply save you time and money. I did contact corporate and they are giving me back the $75 as well so I m thankful for that ! I guess working for the government gives me some kind of authority!

KUDOS!!! To the Mount Vernon Apartment Home Staff for such an Awesome experience. I was totally blown away with the incredible customer service and Professionalism displayed even from the first hello on the telephone. In particular, Nikita is truly a difference maker, her expertise, knowledge base and people skills are bar-none. She is a Great example for others. I have always been told that actions speak louder than words, well her actions are telling an incredible story. I needed a fast move for a job transfer from Philly to Dallas. I chose Mount Vernon based off the reviews and distance from my job. I applied and was approved without even seeing the apartment. Nikita was very good in keeping contact via email or phone with any additional information that was needed to finalize the lease. When I arrived in Dallas almost 2 weeks later I came to Mount Vernon to view to property and apartment. Nikita greeted me with a smile and took me on a tour. I viewed the model I chose but was not happy with the size and layout. I thought why did I get into something without seeing it first. Nikita was quick to come up with another unit that she thought would be bigger and better for me. Move in day comes and the unit she chose was bigger, better and even a little cheaper!!! I took a huge risk doing it this way. I am happy with the apartment. Thanks Nikita for making this a smooth transition.

That unit won t be available, I can only hold it for ..., that one already has a w/d (Strike 2). But since my bf really liked the place, we applied. $175-but still applied. (Too much money-Strike 3) No shocker I was approved as the primary app but bf was denied for only God knows why. AND we both checked our credit and rental history before applying. She nonchalantly tells me, we will mail back $100 to your address. Now, I wouldn t live here if my life depended on it, but I just wonder how an approved primary applicant can be denied for a co-applicant. Sounds fishy but everything happens for a reason.

I applied to Mount Vernon Apartments online. I was approved. I was emailed to see if I wanted to move in on Friday, March 1st 2019. I did want to. I showed up. I was told I had to wait until Monday. I had to spend approximately $300 on a hotel for the weekend. Due to this, when my rent came due this month, April 1st, 2019, I am approximately $250 short on rent. I received a notice on my door Friday to vacate the apartment by the 6th of April 2019.

Ive lived in these apartments for 12 years. Never had a problem with the office personnel until now. The assistant manager is a great liar. Rather than give me my deposit back, she said I owed 116.00. This is a bunch of bull, my apt. was clean when I moved out. I asked her if she wanted me to clean the carpet that hadnt been replaced when I moved in, she said no, they were going to replace it. Now she and the maintenance guy said, they didnt remember. The water bill for my 1 bedroom apartment was 74.00. They charged me so much until they said, I owed them 116.00.. be careful of the hype.. smh

The apartments themselves are great and beautiful however be ware, people are being robbed at gunpoint left and right. almost every night someone was being robbed walking from their parking lot into their apartment. Not to mention there was a shoot out that occurred while I lived there. i ended up moving elsewhere as I feared for my safety here.

Very expensive for a 1 bedroom and hidden fees, I just renewed my lease 7 months ago and when we did they went up on the rent, now 2nd time leasing and they are going up on rent again. THESE APARTMENTS ARE OVER PRICED!! Every other week, something in the apartment breaks. I can honestly say these are the most cheap built apartments. They look nice on the outside, but we call the office every week to report and issue. The pipes are bad, the doors are fragile, theres a lingering mildew smell that makes me nauseous. My allergies have never been this bad. And the newest issue, theres black mold growing around, and they only painted over it! The office staff is RUDE. They seemed so nice before move in, but their attitudes make me cringe. I hate having to call them about an issue :( Theyre so bad, I have other people to drop off my rent just because I dont want to go inside and have them snatch money out of my hands. Im afraid I have to agree with the ladies below me. The property looks nice but management sucks and are very rude especially Rosa. They are all very unprofessional and tend to get upset when you ask them to explain things or fix things. Youre leasing apartments so your expertise should be dealing with people but the worst people work here. When I moved in months a go i saw the courtesy officer twice and I have yet to see them since. They put a notice on our door saying that people are constantly breaking in and if we see someone carrying anything in their hands we should report it.. umm how does that help us? no description was given etc. I would not recommend this property to anyone. So happy that I will be moving out in a couple months.

The land scape is very beautiful however I have had multiple bad experiences with the management and Bug infestations that I ended up having to come out of pocket in paying for treatment which caused me to be out of my home for over 2 months and still had to pay rent (bed bugs) They took their time in taking care of the issue which made me feel that I was not a valued tenant. Right after that horrific experience I found a leak in my dining room wall and reported it and they never fixed the problem. It turned into Black looking Mold growing out of the wall. They took their time once again to fix it and all they did was spray it and paint over it. The carpet and floor was so mildewed I couldnt even stay in the apartment due to the smell . I had migraines and my child got a acute bronchitis . I finally got through after months of fighting and was able to leave because we couldnt live this environment that we were in. Very glad to be out of these apartments and hope this helps other families looking for a great place for them and their family.
