My daughter and I visited Sushi Motto for the first time and were genuinely amazed by the quality of food! To begin with, we had the best miso soup, and each piece of sashimi melted in my mouth. Everything is top - notch, from sushi to sashimi to miso soup to wasabi. I would love to try so many things on the menu in the future. You cant tell if you tried real sushi until you try this place. Trip to Sushi Motto is a must if you want to experience fine dining at its finest.

We used to drive to Dallas to get sushi, but happy to say that we can eat delicious sushi near home now. We have dined here twice and both times we really enjoyed our meal. Strongly recommend the omakase (comes with miso soup & kizami wasabi), Franky Roll, Creamy Ono Sushi, and Lychee Strawberry drink. The kizami wasabi and smoked soy sauce complement the sushi well. The owner/chef, his sons, Peter, and other staff were all friendly, made great recommendations, and provided excellent service to make our dinner enjoyable. Will definitely be coming back!

Excellent service. Chefs Japanese Tafas and his Carpaccio are very pleasing and interesting. Pink Lady and Cool Guy are the top sellers of the Tafas and we got those and a Green Flower. I liked each of them but my favorite bites came from the carpaccio. The Amberjack with its Yuzu Kosho was delicious as was the Salmon Avocado Carpaccio with its very tasty green sauce. We did have 2 rolls. I love the Franky roll with its summery citrus. My husband likes the one with Escolar (Ono) and cant get enough of what the sesame oil does to that one. Sorry....the rolls are on another menu and did not get a pic. Chef and his wife, Sue, are very sweet and welcoming.

Used to come here all the time, it was my favorite sushi spot in town. Decent prices and amazing food!! We couldnt decide on what to order so the waitor told us ti try the chef special. Which was $30 for 6 pieces! We spent $50 on Two tiny pieces of sushi that were the size of my thumb and 6 slices of tuna....this place used to be so reasonably priced and they had actual full rolls of sushi!! Not anymore, not since their revamp. I miss the old sushi moto. We ate what we ordered and went up the road to a different spot. Got two full rolls of sushi for $30!! Unfortunately I will not be coming back.

Visiting friends in Texas. This is the 1st place they wanted to take me out to eat. It was great!!! I m from Fl and retired from California, absolutely the Best sushi I ve had anywhere! My last night visiting we unanimously decided we wanted to go back and make this the last place I ate out in Texas! Perfect way to end my trip! Always Fresh fish, flown in weekly. James thoroughly explained every item, made great suggestions as his wife did also. Great sauces, beautifully presented, and of course tasted great! Very accommodating service from everyone, very friendly and they work hard to assure you have a very enjoyable experience! I highly recommend Sushi Moto! You won t be disappointed! I called for pick up order 2 days ago. I ordered cheesecake tempura. A waiter (non English speaker) didn t understand what I said. I asked him what dessert do you have? He didn t understand. I said Dessert- D-E-S-S-E-R-T . He still didn t understand and said We don t have . I was super confused YOU DON T HAVE DESSERT !?! Then he transferred my phone to a waitress (English speaker), and she understood easily. I understand English is not easy, but you work in restaurants. Don t know the word dessert is a disaster.

First time visit to Sushi Motto was a great experience. When you walk thru the door, every employee looks up, smiles, and says welcome! It was delightful. The service was excellent. Just the right balance of helpful, doting, friendly, but not-hovering which I really appreciate. Then the food it was as good as I ve ever had. It s fresh and flavorful and the presentation was above par. Their prices are just a little higher than some places but totally worth it in my opinion. Especially if you want a sure thing!

I was recommended this place by a co-worker. All I can say is it s truly an outstanding experience. I have had sushi from many places, most okay, some good, fewer great one and this one honestly has been the best yet. James and his son Jason along with the other staff are warm and welcoming. James gave me sushi recommendations based off what I enjoy. The cucumber lemonade made in house is wonderful. Until you make a klutz mistake and waste it all by spilling all over yourself like I did. I was furious at my clumsiness because I wasted a fair portion of it. They even refilled my glass after cleaning the mess I MADE! I will be coming back as often as I can when I make it back to Denton. This will be my number one stop.

Place has become our go to place for Sushi in the Denton area. It is consistently great sushi, and the service is spectacular. Never had a bad roll there. They also recently did renovations to the inside of the restaurant that look awesome. Highly recommend.

Been driving by for awhile but never tried until today and boy we have been missing out! First off the atmosphere is spectacular. The decor is fun with anime figures on the walls and cherry blossoms all over! The staff was so kind, all welcomed us in and were quick to seat us and very attentive. We started with the Heart Attack stuffed jalapenos which were nice and mild, letting you enjoy all the flavors without overwhelming my tongue. Shared the Energy roll, Tuna Poke bowl, and lobster fried rice with my fiance and it was all absolutely delicious! Finished with the strawberry mochi and vanilla fish ice cream. Super sweet and presentation of all the dishes was spot on! Overall Motto Sushi is a MUST if you are in the Denton area! We will definitely be back!

Waited over an hour with my family for our dinner as we watched them fill togo oders non-stop. They kept telling us our order was next, and then when asked again was told the same thing. Food is amazing! Unique menu, compared to other sushi restaurants around the area. You can tell that the head chef puts a lot of time into curating each dishes flavors, portions, etc. went on a Wednesday night and it was packed! But it s worth mentioning they only have about 10 tables (not including their sushi bar top seats). Because it was full the two servers were hustling to take care of everyone. They might need to hire a front of house helper to get people seated, clean tables, refill beverages, etc. I will be a returning customer very often! Sooo good!

Absurd pricing. The only fusion present is Japanese delicacies mixed with poor materials. The fish quality could easily be found at various other sushi shops across the metro for half the price. Soup was an instant packet and lukewarm. The edamame was crunchy. The roe was old and dried out. Wait times are a bit long with only one sushi chef.

Go see James Bond!!! Best sushi Ive had in the DFW metroplex and Im very picky about sushi. Most of the rolls are custom recipes by the chef and so much love is put into each meal. Exceptional menu, creative sauces, and beautiful plate presentation! The owners are clearly focused on the quality of their dishes and the experience of the diners. The chef has created many inventive sauces that are allergen-free, gluten-free, and soy-free. Peter, our server, knew the menu meticulously and was able to craft a complete meal for us just from vague suggestions. They also have a good quality sake selection that doesn t break your wallet. I sat at the bar with friends who were regulars and just ate whatever was put in front of me. Some salmon, some creamy Ono, and a when bunch of stuff I have no idea what it was other than sushi. The atmosphere itself was lovely; modern Japanese stylings mixed with light anime influences. Even with other families present, the room felt like a quiet moment I could escape into should I want to. EVERYTHING was flavorful. From the decadent bluefin tuna belly (which I will easy admit a tear welling up over) and the Red Sea Bream, which were presented fresh and beautifully from the chef, down the the juicy, tender karaage and the sesame infused flavor of the rice it was bedded on. I had intended only to eat the belly as far as sushi goes, but the chef was both kind and knowledgeable, and easily talked me into a round two! I definitely have plans in mind for my next visit as well. Definitely coming back!

So I ve been going here for 13 years even through the change of ownership. I ve never once had a problem it s been great however I placed a to go order where they forgot the roll with the lunch special called and they said that they would give me a free roll the next time. When I came to pick it up the lady was very reluctant to give me the roll like it was impossible that I did not receive the roll in the previous to go order. She began to point out what a shrimp tempura roll looks like like maybe I didn t know weird thing to assume. The lady that handled the situation made things very weird and awkward. Ive tried a lot of sushi places in Denton over the years, and I never really was happy with the food... until I found Sushi Motto. Absolutely delicious sushi. It is prepared exquisitely with a perfect blend of flavors. The folks who run Sushi Motto seem to really care about providing not only excellent service, but truly excellent food. The price is right for sushi. Overall, excellent quality and flavors, good portion sizes, and great service. I am not one to leave bad reviews for anyone because I am very easy to please. However, this one was worth leaving a review because just one person experiencing a terrible restaurant experience is more than enough. That is, I would hate to see anyone else treated like the way I was treated. I first stepped in and thought it was going to be pleasant because it felt very family-oriented. But as I was ordering, I was asked questions like, are you gonna eat all that? you have that much space? So I was like okay... maybe she is thinking out for me. Then the waitress whom I believe is the owner went back and I saw her talking to a male whom I believe may be her husband, pointing fingers towards me and talking in a foreign language. It was then when I started to feel very uncomfortable and felt like I was not being treated with respect. Because I was so excited, I ordered a lot of food so I actually ended up having a lot leftover. So when the lady came back to check me out, she was almost like judging the amount of food I had left. She said she told me it was a lot. I asked for togo boxes and she gave me looks and stares and she tossed togo boxes to my table. I asked for plastic bags and she said she cannot give any bc those bags are for togo orders only. I was so distraught and saddened and uncomfortable. I have never ever been treated like this in my life and I would not want anyone else to be treated like this.

We have found the sushi restaurant that will become our go-to for sushi. First, the tea cups are kawaii. We lived on Okinawa for three years and this is the closest we have come to a real Japanese restaurant. The shrimp appetizer was excellent. The chicken karrage was different; not a super crunchy batter, but well-seasoned. The salad that comes with it was good as well. Now to the sushi. The nigiri is traditional, meaning a little bed of rice and some wasabi in between the rice and fish. Thats the way its supposed to be. So many want-to-be sushi restaurants dont know this. The wasabi on the side has a nice kick to it. The spicy tuna roll is balanced. It has a nice clean taste. The atmosphere is a nice combination of relaxed with a contemporary feel to it. My only critique is the service could be a little better. We wondered where our server was sometimes. We will be back though. Update: The O Toro sashimi is a must try. It is expensive; however, for the discerning sushi connoisseur, it is the epitome of tuna. Ask for the price before ordering. Additionally, the Butterfly roll is excellent as well.

Amazing Sushi shop! Weve been here twice. First time was Take-out, so we decided to Dine-in this time. We were not disappointed. Super fresh sushi rolls. My favorite sushi place in town. I love all the sushi rolls so much. My favorite is the lion king but the others I have tried have been so good too. The fried rice is good. The miso soup is good. Food was great! Prices were fair, but everything else was lacking. Our server must have been new because he had no clue whats in a dish. He also looked like hes completely bored, out of place and didnt at all want to be there. We asked for hot tea, and had to ask for refill of hot water every time. Not once did he come by to check on us. He even asked us how much hot water would we like to be added to the pot. The pot was empty!! He was so awful that it became funny!! The other two servers who were working were hustling though, and ours just looked lackadaisical!! The food took forever to come out, but the dishes were delicious. I had 3 people in my party and spent less than $100 for dinner. We were full afterwards. So if you are not starving and are willing to ignore the incompetent service, its actually not a bad place to eat.

The price is very competitive for the amount of food served. The only issue, and could be considered a minor or major depending on who you ask, is the rice. (Just so you know, No monkeys were actually harmed in the process, but maybe a mushroom or 2 were sacrificed.) My husband had a beautiful stacked rice plate with crab and tuna. Another stop in Dallas for us and this Sushi place did not disappoint at all. Customer service is outstanding, you can tell they care about their customers. One of the chefs even came out to offer suggestions to another table that didnt know what to order. We ordered 6 different rolls and they all started coming out in less than 15 minutes, thats amazingly fast. All the traditional rolls were excellent and tried some specialty rolls which were great as well. Yellowtail Lover roll and Crouching Tiger rolls were my most favorite. To top it off, the desert tempura fried ice cream was delicious, green tea ice-cream that was not bitter or too sweet surrounded by a layer of raspberry, and crispy tempura, so very good and refreshing. The prices are good, service is great, I highly recommend coming here if you are in the area.
