We decided to try Shuck Me for the first time this weekend (usually go to Frilly s). The atmosphere is definitely a party vibe as you walk in. You stand in line to order and then seat yourself. The order line was very, very long. We ordered and while paying were prompted for a tip but then we were given a beeper for our food so I realized there was no service at all after I gave a 20% tip. The food was cold. My husband got grilled red snapper which was so overcooked he had to use a knife to cut it. His beans and rice were tasty but cold. My fried catfish was great but not hot enough just barely warm. I was disappointed with the hush puppies, kind of chalky. My son loved his fried shrimp. The fried seafood is definitely the way to go with this place. There was live music on the patio which was nice and football on many TVs inside. Lots of room. Plenty of parking. Great place for loud kids. But I think I ll stick to my normal seafood place on University.

Don t know how you messed up french fries but half the fries were Good half the fries were overcooked, soggy, old not really sure. I got the catfish lunch special and 1 small piece for catfish. Hush puppies not that great. Don t think I ll be back after this.

About a block or so from Denton Square, Shuck Me is a cute beach themed seafood spot. The decor is top notch! I really love the mix of marine themed items. I think I would discover something new each time I went. I especially loved the huge treasure chest over the drink area. They have a large outdoor area as well, fun, we sat at one of their fun, round high tops and enjoyed the many TV s and fun music they were playing. The service wasn t bad, it just wasn t inviting and welcoming. We didn t know where to go at first - they have you walk to the back wall to order - but we figured it out quickly. Once at the counter, the lady took our order, and got it correct, she just didn t show much personality or engage much other than asking to take our order. It was a great time to go, on a Sunday evening around 6:30. They weren t super busy, but busy enough that we enjoyed the vibe without a super long wait. So, for the food. I ordered a fried shrimp and catfish combo. The fries were SO amazing! They are absolutely delicious! The fried shrimp and the catfish filet were smaller than I had anticipated, as compared to similar types of restaurants. The flavor was good, but I was disappointed with the catfish. It had too much of a mud-cat flavor for me, a little too earthy. My husband ordered the Mexican shrimp cocktail and gumbo. He enjoyed both of them. Both were packed with seafood and the serving of tortilla chips on the side with the shrimp cocktail was a nice touch. There are other items on the menu that I will try next time. They have a lot of choices on the menu, it took us a few minutes to decide what we wanted. I really like the various options, it provides something for everyone to enjoy. Kid-friendliness: They had at least one arcade game I saw and lots of space for outdoor seating. Several TVs playing various channels and so many fun things on the walls. Sharks, swordfish, alligator, treasure chest, etc. very fun decor and very relaxed atmosphere with room to move around.

We have been wanting to try this place for a long time but it s a little off the beaten path so we forget about it but today was the day! The entrance is massive, I prefer to, at least, be greeted upon entering which didn t happen but that s okay. Menu is a good size. Not TOO crazy but with just enough choices to be interesting. HAD to try the lobster Mac. Delicious! My two year tasted it and then hardly let me have anymore of it. I stepped it up a notch and added the Shuck me sauce, which tastes like chipotle chulua. Got the shrimp and gumbo bowl, the wife got pound of shrimp and I got a couple of pieces of catfish(this is a fish place right). Again, not a fan of having to get my own food, get my own refills, etc when there s a tip option after ordering. The option should be taken off. Food was hot and everything tasted super fresh. The new potatoes with dill and garlic butter came out less than warm but were perfectly soft, so not a deal breaker. Bowl was very good. The roux wasn t burnt and it had good amount of sausage and shrimp. Fish was flaky, well flavored and crisp. Shrimp was very good. I would have loved to see an option to get two corn cobs instead of a potato. That corn cob was . All in all, great place. Will definitely be in the dinner rotation.

We walked in at 8:25 and we stopped to acknowledge friends we happened to meet. I proceeded to try and order food 15 minutes later and was quickly informed by an employee that we re closed !!! I had time for an order and was denied service before closing. I spend a lot of $$$ there and they dropped the ball. The couple that walked in before us was served not more than 5 minutes before. Probably should change your hours to when you actually close which is evidently 20 minutes sooner than listed.

This is my second time coming here with my friend, she had been raving about how awesome the shrimp is!! When we first came, I tried two shrimps and stopped eating them. The shells were grey with a slight hint of pink. They were totally raw , the meat was translucent. We had them remade and they were perfect!!!! They were so good we came again today ( our second time this week!!) even tho the rest of the day that first visit , our stomachs were jackeddd up!! When we sat down, they were rubbery , stringy , would get stuck inbetween our teeth, a lot of the shrimps were straight too instead of having that (c) shape.. So we asked to have them remade . When I told the manager they weren t fully cooked he replied , they should be. He remade them anyways .. second platter came out. And they were hard as rocks ! Completely over cooked, you can see the shriveled shrimp in the shell.. my friend and I debated whether or not we should tell him again.. we decided yes. The manager got defensive and upset. Told him and showed him how overcooked the shrimps were. Showed him the shriveled shrimp He told us well, the first batch wasn t cooked enough. So I threw those away.. and I told the cooks to cooked them longer. So what do you want to do??? Want your money back. My friend told him, I don t want the money, I d like the shrimp please, we love this place long story short, we felt a complete burden.. the third time we received our platter of shrimp it was finally satisfactory!! Again. We both wanna say we LOVE the shrimp.. but just wasn t happy with the service today. Side note, the servers were really nice

This is a cool place to go and grab a bite to eat but not for drinks. There is a bar with a very limited selection. The prices are reasonable and the food quality is what you pay for. I liked the snapper but the hush puppies were too hard for my liking. Overall, I would go again but I prefer the one in Southlake.

I wanted to like it. From the outside you have no idea the space but they ve got a great space inside and out great side patio including a stage for live music. So we sat out on the picnic tables by the music, but I now regret that because there was something on the bench like paint or rust or something that got stuck on my brand new dress and I ve spent the whole week trying to get the stain out and have failed. I emailed the restaurant to let them know so it doesn t happen to anyone else but they haven t responded yet. definitely an unfortunate occurrence that lessened my experience. The menu had a nice variety, I wasn t sure what to get, kind of wish I had asked for a recommendation because I feel like I did not choose well. I m sure there s some things they do very well. I ordered the Veracruz style ceviche and the flavor of the marinade was great, had a subtle kick to it that I enjoyed but the fish did not taste fresh or it was not a fresh batch bc the fish was quite mushy by the time it got to me; not the texture it should be in a ceviche. I was also excited to try the fried oysters, a dish I love and hadn t had in a while. They took a bit longer to come out, looked good fries with it were great, cornmeal battered and not greasy but the oysters themselves were pretty gross, mucky slimy inside. Not how it should be. In hindsight I wish I had just taken them back up to the front. The side of grilled zucchini was plain but good char it ended up being a lot of food btwn those 3 items so I took the zucchini home. For the $40 I spent on the ceviche app, fried oysters and zucchini, I was very disappointed in what I got. Would come back if I was with people who wanted to go or maybe just to grab a drink for the atmosphere but I d be hesitant to eat here again.

One of the best seafood places! Service was good, great place- super spacious inside and out, lots of parking, very clean. The food was so delicious and came out so quick! Best Alfredo hands down. Everything was crispy and fresh. The fries were some of the best fries! Shrimps were juicy. Calamari wasn t chewy or dry, so good! Gumbo was delicious and had a nice kick! I ve only recently stumbled into this place, but the staff is always super helpful and the food is top notch. I love the bar area in the back the most. We really liked the food here. The vibe reminds me of Joes crab shack. You order at the counter and then they give you a buzzer to get your food. The only thing that was confusing, is that when we checked out, the food we ordered for our family of 4 totaled up to $100 and it asked for tip, the options were 15%, 18% and 20% We selected 20%, but in hindsight, we got our own drinks, our own food, and own sauces. There was no one waiting on us, but someone did come bus the table after. So Im not really sure the suggested tip values were accurate for the level of service received. Maybe they could adjust that. Or if you go in, just know its not table service other than bussing/cleanup. All in all, well definitely be back!!

We decided to try the restaurant in Denton due to the 4 star overall rating and were so disappointed. The restaurant was nice and clean with great atmosphere but the food was terrible. The fried shrimp and oysters were greasy and under cooked. The oysters were so chewy my husband had to spit them out. FYI Lobster Shuckpuppies are just hush puppies and not that good - I am not sure why they use the word Lobster. The shrimp gumbo tasted fishy and the condiments - cocktail sauce and containers of horseradish tasted old. I am giving service 1 star. When a cashier takes an order and I get my own drinks, condiments and pick up my own tray of food why would I tip before the meal? To make sure that my food is not compromised? The point of a tip is to for employees to provide a service and get tipped AFTER on their ability to deliver that service well. For spending over $50 it was not worth the money.

First time there and we were not even greeted. Went up to order food, we told the guy it was are first time there, he was very rude and acted as if he was having teeth pulled to talk to us about the menu. We finally ordered and the food was awful, catfish was dirty tasting and raw oysters were so small it was a joke. When I paid it had where you could tip, I tipped 15% not knowing that after we paid we would never see or speak to anyone again. No one asks how the food was or even came to the table, 60.00 bucks later we leave and hope to speak to someone and only one guy doing the whole restaurant and nowhere to be found! Will not be giving this place another try and not enough food for the price either.

Went here after the UNT-CAL game. I had the 6 piece jumbo shrimp and my wife had the grilled tilapia. The tilapia was pretty bland and had almost no seasoning. I guess they expect you to add your own salt and pepper or dip in a sauce. The grilled shrimp was good and the sauces they provided were good. There was very loud live music that wasnt to my taste. The seniors in the restaurant seemed to enjoy it

What a great meal! Grouper tacos and grouper poboys were delicious and the servings were huge. The hush puppies and clam chowder were also really tasty. The patio is spacious and comfortable. We will eat here again for sure!

We ordered the Rock-A-Fella and Garlic Butter grilled oysters and they were over cooked and over priced. The calamari was on-point. Unfortunately the boiled shrimp was lacking flavor and again way too expensive. The atmosphere was welcoming and laid back. The service was ok.

We come here all the time, they just started serving brunch on weekends and it was great! We had the Chicken & Waffles and The Country Biscuit Benedict along with Mimosas. Well definitely be back especially as it gets a bit cooler and we can sit outside on the patio with our dog. Friendly casual service and great bartenders! Kid-friendliness: Perfect for families with kids. Outside, there is a corn hole game that kids love!

The restaurant itself was nice and clean and very inviting. When you walk in, we were told to order food upfront and then go pick our seats and they give you a ready buzzer. The prices seemed decent and not too high. Me and my friend ordered the shrimp & grits, fried catfish, and a couple of margaritas. Our buzzer went off and we went up to grab our food. Everything looked nice and appealing but I was a bit disappointed. Well, first, let me say, the margarita mix was pretty good. The catfish wasnt bad. It came with fries and hushpuppies. Now the shrimp & grits, not so good. It looked beautiful. It had lots of nice size shrimp on top and also hushpuppies. The grits were kinda thin and gritty. They didnt have that southern country smoothness to them. Seemed like the fake open the package and add water type of grits in my opinion. My friend didnt care for the shrimp & grits neither. Oh and if you dont eat pork, beware, the shrimp & grits have cut up pieces of sausage all thru it, but it doesnt say that on the menu. The dish had more meat then grits and the grits werent substantial enough to backup all the meat. Wasnt a good balance. The place gets lots of reviews but I guess you have to try it for yourself. I would probably never return but always glad to give a new place a try.

I got a gift card for shuck me for my birthday. I was super excited that I was going to get some free food. Service was fast but the food was also which isnt always a good thing. The jambalaya pasta wasnt what I expected. The jambalaya pasta is a good thing if you know how to make jambalaya in the first place. The jambalaya pasta was like a jambalaya stew with noodles. The jambalaya pasta reminded me of something they served at my moms daycare she works for. The jambalaya pasta reminds me of school lunch in high school. Might I add that the jambalaya pasta also had small precooked chewy shrimp and tiny bits of sausage. The sauce was terrible tasting like a bad stew and had shredded chicken in it I also got the shrimp lunch plate. The shrimp werent full shrimp. The shrimp looked like they cut them and flattened them. The shrimp had a good taste but they only give you about 5. The fries that come with the shrimp tasted like fries that you throw in the oven from the freezer. The fries didnt have any flavor except for potato. This wasnt a good experience. I wasted my gift card on this! I wish I had just gotten the fish and shrimp minus those fries. Also had I spent more than two dollars which was the amount due Id be pretty pissed. I hate posting bad reviews but people should be warned.

Absolutely delicious. If you are looking for a good place to eat seafood...this is a fun restaurant. I had the catfish dinner that included french fries or your choice of another vegetable. The atmosphere was very electric because of the laughter of the Saturday evening crowd and the live entertainment. Its definitely on my list of places to revisit.

Grilled plate was good (catfish), a bit salty but thats just me. Decent sized portions, good sides, too, and fast service. We dined in- the only thing I didnt care for was the live music. The man had a pleasant enough voice but his arrangements of several familuar songs left a lot to be desired. I liked the music they played on the radio during his break though, not too loud. Well be back- its hard to find good grilled fish!
