Sylvan Rodriguez Park: A Hidden Gem with Something for Everyone This park is a true delight! My family and I love exploring the various hiking tracks, enjoying the beautiful water fountain, and spending quality time together. The playground is great for the kids, and the picnic areas and open fields are perfect for activities with friends and family of all ages. Sylvan Rodriguez Park is a fantastic spot for anyone looking for a fun and relaxing outdoor experience. If you are into hiking, there are plenty of hiking paths. Additionally, the oark is kept very clean and organized. Highly recommended!

Deceitfully big. Nice fountain for that water flowing sound. Nice trail around a protected prairie! Lots of cool birds to look at with signs about the wildlife. Played a video to see how certain birds from there sound like and two suddenly showed up. But then they left as soon as they noticed it was just me. Maybe I ll pick up bird watching? Lots of benches and plenty of parking with room to play sports.

My husband and I met at this park. Its a very special place that we both always felt has had a sacred energy to it, for us and everyone, that is until recently. If anyone knows the movie fern gully where they destroy all the natural habitat of wildlife and beauty in order for profit of man, this is exactly where its at now. My husband and I havent visited here in a long time because of it. Its a shame.

I used to really like this park because you could walk the trails through the woods or see all the hundreds of turtles swimming in the pond on your walk, but they really ruined this beautiful nature preserve. They tore down half the woods and put a new plastic path leading to where hundreds of trees used to be with a sign talking about how they preserve nature mhm. and have recently done it again. All the yellow you see was once THICK woods.

Love this park! Never too busy, but biggest downside is that people need to clean up after their dogs. The playground looks quite unique and really fun for kids. Good sized path circling the woods and I love that the turtles in the pond always come up to you to say hi. 6l24l2022 update: they are undergoing expansion & restoration .. meaning they have killed many established trees & displaced the natural wildlife that forms there ( especially the ephemeral swamp that grew in the back). I hope the deer, armadillos, turtles, cranes, fish, native wildflower fields & wild lotus are able to stick around even after the concrete is poured for the unnecessary trail loop addition. I wish they had not already clear cut the woods, but I am holding onto some glimmer of hope for the future of the animals that have made the park their home.

Overall it s a nice park - a nice playground, covered picnic tables, trash cans, and walking trail through native prairie restoration. Soon there will be a boardwalk in the back, I believe. My only complaints are that the bathrooms are out of order frequently and sometimes people with the weirdest vibes come here. So if you re alone just be careful. And don t come with a full bladder.

This park could use more mature shade trees and wooded trails. But it is deep, there are long paved trails. I was there today for the COVID airshow with temperature 96F. View of the runway is blocked by a tree line, but the planes circled directly overhead, and could be seen corkscrew climbing above the flight line. Access to the park by sidewalk was fantastic, rode 4 miles of empty shaded concrete with ramps and crosswalks. So try taking a bike!
