I m not one to give negative reviews, but there were So many things that I feel management needs to know. We went this past Sunday, evidently there is a 3-9 Happy Hour we were unaware of, but great. The hostess was friendly and brought us water. Our server was friendly, but extremely inattentive. It took 20 minutes for her to come to our table. We put in an appetizer order and drinks. It took her another 15-20 minutes to come back for our food order and told us they were out of 3 of the most popular entrees( how does that happen?). She took our food order without asking us if we would like another drink. She was so distant that my husband just went to the bar himself where the bartender seemed very capable. The food was ok. My husbands flatbread came out not cut, the ravioli had what appeared to be a white queso on top. The side salad and burgers were good. To top off the experience , we had to flag down the server to get our check after again waiting forever. Not to mention my friend and I were forced to use the men s restroom because some staff member was in the bathroom, I assume scrolling on their phone for 15 min. Management step it up! This could be a nice place.

1 star on the food, the chicken sandwich was good and the steak minus the sides. The dressing on the salad was a yellow thick slimy substance that reminded me of nevermind! The potatoes had a brown sauce or gravy type liquidity something that was not good at all! The chips that came with the queso were stale. On a positive note, the drinks were delicious and the service was great. Big thanks to Roslyn and Derrick for your hospitality.

We have been two times now. Both times have the slowest service I ever seen from any restaurant. We were hopeful the first visit was a fluke, nope it wasnt. Second visit was worse than the first. They brought our parties food out except for two plates. They informed us the two plates that didnt come out they all the sudden didnt have the ingredients for it so the two people re ordered something new. The waitress assured it would be right out. Well after 30 more minutes of waiting for the basic burger. The food finally came out. To me service makes or breaks a restaurant and their service is a 0 star. They did not offer to comp the meal or at least didnt even offer a discount for the inconvenience. On top of all this, anytime we needed refills we had to flag the waitress down.

The ambiance is wonderful. The food is good. The service is greatly lacking. My friends and I arrived at 5:15 for happy hour. They were NOT busy, but it took well over 30 minutes to get drinks. At 7:03, we still hadn t been served our dinner. I m not sure where the 4.3 stars are coming from.

Sydney was the most attentive, accommodating server!! She was so patient with an elderly person in our party. She gave fabulous recommendations. She was so personable and made our experience tremendous. The food was fantastic! The risotto was delicious, shrimp carbonara so scrumptious and the drink flight was perfect!! We will return!!!

First time here did not live up to the hype. The ambiance was nice; basic but clean and organized. I enjoyed the music. Im not sure if its the normal choice, but this night it was 90s Rap. The cocktails and appetizer were the best part of the meal. I ordered The Sun; if you like mezcal and tajin, this drink is for you. The lemon drop martini was very tart, but the sugar rim helped balance it out. The tenderloin Mac and cheese made it worth coming back for. It came out quickly. The Mac and cheese had great flavor and just the right amount of creaminess; it wasnt too runny or too dry. The tenderloin was extremely tender, though it tasted more like a pot roast. Still delicious! The fried onions on top added a satisfying texture difference and tied in all the flavors. The serving was enough of a meal in it of itself, so its a great dish to share with others. My mom and I ordered two meals to split; the shrimp carbonara and the cuban (a special for the day). My mom told our server, Brooklyn, we were sharing both food items. She did not state to bring them out one at a time. The bread of the cuban tasted stale and was rather tough to chew. The pulled pork didnt have much flavor. Overall the sandwich was very dry. The fries were decent; nothing exceptional about them. Brooklyn never checked on us after dropping the food off. About 20 minutes after finishing the sandwich, Brooklyn finally came to our table. It was at this time I asked if the shrimp carbonara was still coming out. She gave a confused look at the table and stated she would check on it. After a few minutes she returned and stated it would be coming out shortly; no explanation as to why this occurred was given. The table next to us (a two top) received both of their dinners and finished them before we received our second meals. Another 10-15 minutes passed before the shrimp carbonara was delivered. My mom asked Brooklyn why it took so long for the second dish to come out. Brooklyn stated the kitchen was backed up with a large table. This would mean that the kitchen sent out half a ticket before completing the order, with an entire 20-30 minutes between each dish being served. What is more likely, and what I believed happened, is that Brooklyn forgot to ring in the pasta dish for whatever reason. She only rang in the appetizer and the sandwich, and when the kitchen completed that order it was sent out. After being called out on her mistake, she then tried to rush the order, but the big tables order slowed things down. It simply does not make sense for a kitchen to send out half the order before completing the ticket. Very disappointed that Brooklyn had the chance to be honest and explain her mistake, but decided to lie instead. Whether it was directly her mistake or not (which I 100% believe it was), it took at least 30 minutes for our second entree to be delivered- this warrants some kind of apology or comp in my opinion. The shrimp carbonara was nearly inedible. There was way too much pepper and salt. The shrimp was the only good part of the dish. The bacon bits were much too big. We didnt finish it. Brooklyn also did not check on us after dropping the food off. If you come here, limit yourself to the tenderloin mac and cheese. I will not be rushing to try this establishment again anytime soon, and I will certainly avoid Brooklyn as a server.

I went with four other people but i will tell you about my food only . First i ordered ice tea , burger , fries . The place was almost empty but it took 45 mins for the food to come out . My burger had almost no taste , my fries was almost warm , and I never got a refill on my tea which was empty for about the 30 mins . Want a great burger go to RG burgers mot here

10 out of 5 stars!! My friend and I traveled to Denton, Texas for the weekend and ate at 940s kitchen for dinner BOTH nights!! Order the pesto chicken flatbread and thank me later!!! The real star of the show is Sidney!! Sidney is, hands down, the absolute best and the reason we decided to go back!!!! Sidney, if you get to see this Amanda and I want to thank you for making our experience TOP NOTCH!!!

I was excited to try this place out. It was my husbands 56th bday..went with my folks. Started out ok..drinks took a while to get to us. Waitress was nice. But then appetizer queso and chips, tasted like out of a can. Ok...dinner will be better, we thought. My salad (the Brussel sprout one had so much garlic I could.hardly eat it. We all ordered our dinner at the same time. After a half hour, my shrimp carbonara and my dads fried chicken came out. My dads was good but his Texas toast was burnt Mine was not carbonara at all..no garlic, no seasoning...just noodles with 4 shrimp (just awful). Should have used some of the garlic from my salad for my pasta. 20 minutes ...thats rt 20 minutes later my moms flatbread came out (it was really good ). But my husbands salmon was still not ready. We talked to the manager he said they did not prep rt earlier in the day and just hadnt caught up..but he would comp a round of drinks and my husbands salmon...which still wasnt out. So 30 minutes after my dad and I got our food my husbands salmon came out...it was finally here (the birthday boy had his dinner :) ) It was hot...but it was so salty that my husband could not eat it. Such a disappointment for a birthday dinner for my husband. We will never be back. I should actually give negative stars for the food...but my moms flatbread was worthy of a star.

Fabuloso!! This was our first time in Denton and we re looking for a great experience with delicious food and vino. 940 s Kitchen exceeded our expectations. The eggplant fries shareable is huge and the sauce is to die for! The filet was cooked to perfection and the shaved Brussels sprouts are mouth wateringly delicioso!! We enjoyed a bottle of the Mettler Cabernet Sauvignon (loved it) and finished off with an espresso martini. *cheers* We ate at the bar - excellent and friendly service! We ll definitely be back.

Bartenders Heather and Mike were great. I would come back just to have them mix my drinks and wait on me. They were awesome. The issue was that they were out of mushroom ravioli and dessert and we had a party of eight we asked for things and we would have to remind our waitress to bring it several times. The linguine in the shrimp carbonara was so bland that even adding Parmesan salt and pepper did not help it much . The eggplant fries are great. The smoked queso was great. The salmon entrée was great. The real issues that we had was with the linguine and being out of dessert. Other than that we had a great time.

When theyre on point, they have possibly the best fried chicken sandwich Ive ever had and their burger is (edit - used to be) right up there with it as long as its not overcooked. Both are unreal. My only gripe is inconsistency as it seems like the quality and flavor varies depending on who is cooking. That said, it wont stop me from going back again and again. EDIT - The inconsistency continues. Ive gotten a burnt sandwich (which they replaced for free), and they never put ketchup with the fries unless you ask and the last two times I asked (in my online order details) they missed it. First of all, ketchup should be included with all orders of fries, and secondly, if youre going to be charging $18+ for a chicken sandwich and fries (including practically obligatory tip), there should be some level of attention to detail to match the cost. I can go get a decent chicken sandwich with fries and a drink from KFC for < $10 and theyll ask if I want ketchup. Also, the burgers are now smashburgers and dont even compare to the old juicy delicious burgers they had.

The burger was very, very salty. I took one bite of the burger and drank a glass of water. The picture shows an 8 ounce filet. We were still a little skeptical, but we confirmed again that it was eight ounces, which is a bit different from the 8 ounce steaks we have known in the past few days.

I would leave 0 stars if I could. We tried to have a late lunch here today (Saturday July 20, 2024) and left disappointed and hungry. It was well over 30 minutes before we even got water and the hostess brought it, not our waitress. It was well over ANOTHER 30 minutes after getting our water that we even saw our waitress. She said there was a miscommunication about ours being her table. That s fine, understandable even, but knowing that, it still was ANOTHER 30-45 minutes worth of waiting when we finally just paid for our iced teas and left without getting our food. Probably won t be back, which is sad because it was a nice restaurant with a good menu. Walked up the street on the square in Denton and ate elsewhere.

We went last month and below is my review. We went again and they had no place to sit so we sat outside. Sydney was our server. She was great! Friendly, helpful, and tired get best to keep us fed and hydrated! The burgers are always a hit, the old fashioneds are good, on tap and $7 during happy hour! Great happy hour, nice vibe. Great food! It was lunch with 3 of my besties. The waitress hardly ever showed up. She didnt refill our waters or beverages. We didnt have silverware when our warm meals came. She didnt check on us for a while and we needed a couple of things to complete our lunch. Then we never saw her again. The eggplant appetizer was fantastic. The chip & corn dip was okay. The chips had a great spice on them, but corn dip was greasy. My salad, though the menu description sounded delicious, was extremely bland & small for $17. My friends fried chicken was smaller than her palm and had more breading than chicken. The other two meals, a sandwich & raviolis were good. We were 50-50 on both apps & meals. Dessert wasnt even offered. We asked after she brought us the bill. They only had one, creme brulee. We didnt try it.

One star off because it was warm in there. Poor staff the A/C must not have been able to keep up w the 100 degree heat. Now that s over with I keep thinking about our dinner last night. I had the shaved brussel sprout and goat cheese salad, adding grilled chicken. The salad was outstanding! But, the kitchen deserves credit because it actually delivered flavorful, moist chicken to top it. Most places put chicken that tastes like the precooked stuff from Oscar Meyer or the little packages from Costco. This was delicious chicken! Hubs added shrimp to his mushroom pasta dish and he was impressed by the garlic butter flavor it was cooked in. I tried his mushroom pasta and it was amazing, too. We started with the tenderloin Mac and cheese and it should not be skipped! Get it to share with the table because it is rich (with a small amount of kick to it) and you ll fill up on it if you don t share. Resist the temptation to dig into it too much, or you will miss out on your awesome entrees. Hubs was happy w the beer selection and I enjoyed a refreshing vodka lemon craft cocktail w some smoked fresh rosemary that I don t remember the name. Great food, great service, attention to detail behind the bar delivers great cocktails!

I have been here MANY times and the food is always great. I was disappointed today though. Ive been waiting all month to try their Monthly burger, the Whiskey Burger. Set a reservation for 1:30. Today is Saturday and they have Brunch until 3. Cool, no problem. Get there and start ordering. Order the Whiskey Burger and told that they cant make it until 3. Seriously?! We can only order from the Brunch menu. There is not anything anywhere that said only the Brunch menu can be ordered from until 3 PM. That is ridiculous. 1 oclock is lunch time, please make your menu available and maybe still include Brunch items until 3 and not ONLY brunch items.

Checked out 940 last night to celebrate a friends wedding and had an amazing time. We were able to reserve a table and get sat once most of our party was there. Our server, Sydney, was so wonderful and welcoming! I checked out the drink and food menus and decided on the tenderloin grilled cheese, which came with a mix of American and Fontina cheese, sunny side egg, onion jam, and tenderloin. I asked Sydney about scrambling the egg instead of having it sunny side and she recommended that I get it cooked hard because it tastes great with the sandwich. She said she would check with the kitchen, and they were able to make the adjustment. For my drink, she recommended the berry basil mule. I was thinking it was going to be sweet, but combined with the basil, it had just a hint of sweetness that made it easy to sip and enjoy! Our food came out quickly, and we all ordered something different, so we got to try each others entrees. My grilled cheese was not super heavy, and the combination of the American and Fontina cheeses was perfect. I love that I was able to swap out the fries for green beans. The green beans were amazing--garlic with a hint of sweetness. Everything was so good! The vibe was good as well. My friends and I were able to laugh and have a good time. The staff enjoyed our joy, and they made our experience delightful! I cant wait to come back and I would highly recommend coming here!

Went to try a new location today, and we were impressed as we walked into the vintage location with a modern classy feel. This location is located near the Denton Square and the greeter at the front was very polite. We were seated and advised that our waiter would be with us shortly. Our waiter arrived and was very prompt and courteous. We were offered water while we waited at our table to check out the menu and he pointed out the specials and brought a drink menu to the table to expand our choices. Silverware and clothe napkins were on the table when we arrived. Seating was comfy and spacious. The waiter returned, and we placed our order. Elote, smash burger (classic) w/ fries, a melon buzz (adult beverage), shrimp and bacon based pasta, with a Dr. Pepper. The elote came out along with additional plates which was a great starter, and very flavourful! Midway through our food arrived, prayed and then grind. The adult beverage my wife enjoyed. The pasta was bland and didnt carry over the shrimp or bacon flavors. My son did state that the shrimp was good. I tried the pasta afterward, and it was lacking flavor. The bacon was cooked and tasty. The burger I ate and shared with my Mrs. was well done and not smashed as ordered. Smash burgers have a specific taste and texture. The meat was overcooked, and dry. The waiter was very good and very tentative to our request. The following day, I was going over the receipt and photos taken and noticed a descpencie between what was posted as specials on the table and what I was charged for my elote (it is what it is). Restrooms were clean and well stocked. Parking is limited. Handicap access is there if needed or where accommodations could be made. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair access available.

Truly disappointing. Even given an exception for it being late on Mothers day, the service was terrible. 15-20 mins before waitress took the order. 30+ minutes to be served. Drinks never refreshed. Something went wrong with our group s reservation so we didn t get to eat here but we did enjoy wonderful cocktails! One of the seasonal cocktails is The Pollinator and it is delightful! Queen Bee Gin, Grand Mariner, orange blossom honey, lemon juice, and edible gold shimmer mmmmm :) The bartender who created the drink, B, was very proud of it and he deserved to be. The drink was a 5 star but I gave the restaurant a 4 star bc we didn t get to eat and everyone who was seated didn t get their entrees the entire 1.5 hrs we were waiting.

My husband and I regularly enjoy 940s for dinner and we had another great experience tonight. I ve tried most items on the food and drink menu and I enjoy them all but my favorite is the house salad with salmon (best salmon I ve ever had) and my two favorite drinks are the Virtue and Truth and the Saints and Sinners. All of the cocktails are amazing! Definitely best cocktails in Denton. We always have amazing service. Tonight we were waited on by Sydney and she was great. We will continue to come here often!

Great food but come here for the cocktails as this is what they re known for. Also our server was horrible. I m patient but food came out very slow (I wasn t convinced it was a kitchen problem as much as a server putting in the order and bringing it to us when it was ready problem) and we didn t get drink refills but once. When it came time to pay the check it took her very long to bring it to us then she disappeared and we never saw her again and they are lucky we got up and went to the bar to pay our tab because we could have just left and walked out! No one would have known because apparently we weren t important!

We had a lovely. Brunch here on Sunday. Because of the alcohol laws you will need to order a bite of food prior to being service alcohol. Get something small so those fantastic cocktails can begin to flow. Nice location and decor and exceptional Cocktail menu. Enjoyed the breakfast sliders and mimosas. Lots of cold local brews on tap as well.

Bad service from the staff from the first moment I entered with my family, we all felt discrimination on the part of the person who served us, ignoring us and treating us poorly, they gave us each a menu and we ordered our food when we had to pay. I said that the price was wrong and it turns out that the menu that she had given me had the price of each dish $4 cheaper and I told her that I would pay for the price that appeared on the menu that I had in my hands and she said no. I had to pay the price that appeared on the other menus after we asked to speak to management and it never came to our table so we decided to leave the restaurant, I dont recommend it at all if you are going to pay more than $30 for a meal and want Good service, this is the least suitable place to go with your family to have a good time.

Great spot -especially on a Sunday before 11am. We arrived early (made a reservation for 11:30am) and we re seated immediately. Their host was very pleasant and welcoming. Waitress was super nice and the food is GREAT. I enjoyed the caprese sandwich and my husband enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich. Both were fresh. Husband made a request for the sauce to be on the side and no fuss. Wouldn t recommend their premade cocktails, but their crafted ones are lovely!

We went for dinner on a Tuesday night and they ran out of goat cheese and Dallas Blondes, both of which our party wanted, so that was a bummer. Lovely interior though. The Brussel Sprouts salad is my all-time favorite. We have been coming here ever since they opened. However, the food and service have become a lot more consistent and we have returned more often recently! Although the menu isnt very big, there is something for everyone. This was a date night choice, and it was a neat atmosphere. Do not order the grilled chicken salad though. It didnt even look like chicken. It was cold, no grilled marks, and tasted like it was pre-packaged and thawed out. My husband got the fried chicken, green beans and mashed potatoes and that was great. My salad, I hardly ate. Their custom made cocktails were okay - nothing really struck my taste since I dont like ginger beer, but they brought me a few samples before I ordered, which was cool. The poutine was good too. Not exactly like Canadas version, but still good.

**** Some of the worst service ever. We were seated for over 20 mins to ask for a server to take our order. After placing a drink order, we waited an additional 20 mins with no service once again. As we got up to leave, we stopped at the host stand to let them know, and the young girl laughed at us with a smirk on her face. First and last time to this place. Waitress was nice and tried to be helpful. However I didnt receive a drink until after we finished the appetizer, which was terrible and watery. Food was bland, worse then hospital food. The booths were not secured to the floor, so when ever someone moved on one side or the other, you would move with it. Looks fancy but looks are deceiving.

My first time dining at 940s Kitchen and Cocktails in Denton. If you like interior design comprising of exposed brick walls, high ceilings, large, reminiscent black and white framed photos, large framed colorful modern art, and a big cocktail bar to sit and enjoy a drink, please come to this charming place. The menu offers some interesting choices. I recommend ordering the poutine appetizer (french fries, cheese curds, beef au jus (beef sauce), and green scallions. Was delicious! I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. It was good, but could use some seasoning in the crunchy batter outside or perhaps the chicken. This place also offers vegan/vegetarian menu options, as well as mocktails (non-alcoholic beverages). My buddy Byron recommends making a reservation, as I understand this place is a busy hot spot. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Big shout-out to our server Sydney! She was awesome! As always, enjoy!

Went here because of the great reviews, and food variety. They were out of 1 of 2 craft brews, they were out of the only gluten free appetizer on the menu, and they were out of one of the few vegetarian dishes. Every time we tried to order something they were out of something else. Almost became comical we should have seen the light and left. Our group best friends celebrated Christmas at 940 on December 6. Eleven wild and crazy women of a certain again shared Christmas gifts and enjoyed delicious drinks and yummy food. The staff were all kind and caring and compassionate as we shared the joy of being besties for over 26 years. 940 is the perfect place for celebrating and having a fun time. **Pro tip- Come here for mixed drinks and food, NOT BEER** Clean location with old local framed photos on the wall. Small menu but the food we ordered was great. I think there was more bacon than Brussel sprouts in the brussel sprouts so they were tasty as well was the burger and poutine we tried for the first time. I was in the mood for a cold draught beer but unfortunately the only two options they had for beer on draught were both sold out. The mixed drinks we did have were tasty, just not what we wanted with our meal.

My friend and I just recently went to this resturant and the food was absolutely delicious, our waitress was the absolute best. She was very descriptive of whats in our dishes, she recommended I try the salmon with my mushroom ravioli and it was top tier! She as well showed us which alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks would go well with our meals. She had amazing energy and was incredibly kind. Really made our whole night, definitely the best service Ive ever encountered. The place itself is beautiful, especially the paintings and the bar. That being said one of the drinks I wanted I later on after waiting a long time was told they didn t have that selection and had to chose another. Went here for my birthday dinner. It was delicious. I had the filet and it was cooked to order and was perfect. We shared the mac n cheese and topped it with shrimp. Had an absolute blast at 940s Kitchen and Cocktails! The cocktail tasters were a stroke of genius I couldnt get enough of the lavender liquor, spicy boi, and pimm punch. We were there to celebrate a friends birthday, and the lively atmosphere added to the fun. The fried chicken was a standout perfectly crispy and flavorful.
