I have eaten at most of the steak houses in the Dallas area. I needed one for a Sunday night, downtown. Not a lot of good places open at that time. Went to YO and it was outstanding food. Lots of wild game on the menu and I had the elk. Easily compares to any of the well known in Dallas, like Bobs, 3 Forks, or Dels.

I booked a large business dinner at the Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The combination of the service and menu price points were amazing! Michael was easy to work with and very accommodating. They have wonderful vegetarian/vegan friendly options. Weekday dinner could not have been better. All of the staff were very personable and attentive. Excellent bartender created our pre-dinner drinks and paired those with delicious venison bites. For the main course bison filet and espresso crusted elk tenderloin with a blueberry reduction sauce were cooked a perfect medium. The atmosphere was not at all loud so we could actually have a conversation. It was just a short walk back to the Thompson hotel.

We dined here on 9/14. The filet mignon topped with bone marrow butter was good quality and cooked to perfection. I would recommend the Caesar salad, Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. The pimento cheese fritters were really good, we just wish they came with more for the price. The only thing that put a damper on the experience was about halfway through when a cricket flew onto our table, and then crawled into my purse in our booth. Not much longer after we heard saw and heard what seemed to be a different bug flying over us. We mentioned it and they said the building is older but it would ve been nice if they offered to comp an appetizer or something. This place would ve been an easy 5 stars but that certainly killed the mood because we didn t know if or when another bug would pop up at our table or in the booth. And given the higher price points we felt like we couldn t enjoy our experience as much as we would ve liked. New fear unlocked

Decided on Y.O. Ranch for my groups annual steakhouse dinner while traveling. Interior was nice atmosphere, was a touch surprised it wasnt more crowded for a Friday night dinner rush hour. Steaks, sides, appetizers were all very good but nothing was to die for or memorable. Dessert offerings I would say were a little on the lazy side, only the crème brûlée appeared to be homemade. Service was above average, I was also surprised how quickly our food arrived after ordering. It was no more than like seven minutes and we had our food. Never felt rushed, just that it was really quick. Wine bottle prices were outrageously inflated. This meal was a success 4/5.

I was served by Marcos Ruiz and he was phenomenal.. if you visit as for him to serve you; YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. To be honest i spent 4 days looking for this experience before I landed here. And man am I pissed I ate anywhere else. As I write this review Im sitting outside about to order for my second time in 2 days. I had the wild game trio(rare) with a baked potato(comes loaded)and the bourbon soaked bread pudding which comes topped with vanilla bean ice cream. Wow it was amazing. Good service and atmosphere. Chicken Fried Quail Medallions were spot on and would recommend. I ordered the Wild game trio that consisted of Buffalo, Elk and Venison. I asked for the meat to be cooked medium rare and what arrived was medium well to well done and this was disappointing. Must have been a new chef on the grill. My medium rare New York strip was very rare. The middle of the steak was still cool inside the centre of the strip, so technically it was cooked blue. Very disappointed in that. I didn t finish the steak as a result. The steak was clearly a wonderful piece of meat, but poor execution when it counted. The chili was amazing. Bit of chilli sauce and sour cream really makes it sing. Great waiter. But he kept taking our drinks away when they weren t quite finished.

We celebrated our 36 wedding anniversary there and were welcomed with greetings of happy anniversary and a nice card. To our surprise we were served a delicious flourless chocolate cake after dinner! I don t leave reviews but boy let me tell you, I am out of town on business missing my wife and kids, had an extremely taxing and frustrating day on the job. Feeling tired and defeated. Infrequent Y.O. Steakhouse diner. As always, service and atmosphere exceptional (Alan, our waiter on this occasion, very attentive and personable and kind). Unfortunately the service and atmosphere were better than the food this time. I found my pork chops small and thin and more bone than meat. My guest, a vegetarian/vegan _aside from house salad, had to order off menu (and found the vegetables more pleasing than the plant-based chop steak (a previously loved item their). YO is a place Ive wanted to go to for decades, but never really had the occasion. I am SO, SO glad I finally took the opportunity. While the interior is a little... dated? kitschy? the food MORE than makes up for it. The alligator sausage was the best Ive ever had. And Ive had it in Florida and Louisiana, and other places. The elk tenderloin and bison filet were also delicious. (The brandy peppercorn sauce on the venison is a little intense). The quail medallions were a tasty little start to the meal, as long as you like mushrooms. The sides were less impressive, the brussels sprouts were decent, but not spectacular, and the baked potato was a total throwaway, but we were so full of meat we didnt care. The cocktails were quite good. Well balanced and not just a bunch of sour mix. Id recommend the Black Manhattan. The waiter was VERY thorough, but also a lot of fun, so he gets a pass. Will definitely return the next time were downtown.

We hosted our wedding Reception at Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse, and it was honestly the best decision we ve ever made! Everything was absolutely perfect, service was excellent, food was the best in the area, and the atmosphere was fantastic! Absolutely everything was smooth and just perfection. Rory and his team were awesome and provided high quality service at all times through the whole entire evening! We are so glad we chose Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse to host the celebration of our marriage! I was in town for a conference and we decided to try YO out for dinner. The food was absolutely incredible, our waiter (wish I remembered his name) was a rockstar and the vibe was great. I opted for the ribeye and added the bone marrow butter and it was literally one of the best steaks Ive had in my life. Looking forward to my next time in Dallas to visit YO again.

Best steak sandwich Ive had! I also got my timings wrong and had only over an hour to eat before I started a tour and my waitress was able to get me sat and food out to me and get me out the door so I wasnt late. We held our sons wedding rehearsal dinner here and It was amazing. Getting it set up was easy and painless the booking coordinator was great...helpful, polite and very knowledgeable. The cost was surprisingly reasonable from such a high end establishment. The food and service was A++. I went for dinner with some friends/clients and it was a great experience all around! Marcos Ruiz was our server, he was simply awesome! He did a great job making suggestions, explaining menu items, and taking care of us. He was attentive and humorous, and really made the night outstanding. In addition, we all agreed the food was amazing, from the apps to the steaks, to the sides. The drinks were also excellent. Unfortunately, I went back the next night and got a different server that was not nearly as good and made for a disappointing experience, but it didnt detract from our experience the first night.

I stopped by in the evening of the 8/18. Quite honestly we were disappointed with our experience. We decided to come to Y.O for an upscale experience we didnt receive it. It really came down to attention to detail. We ordered an appetizer ahead of our main course which we never received. The only chance we got to follow up about it was when our main course was being served to us. At that point an appetizer is not really required. With our main course we did not recieve the correct sides. We had ordered the sautéed mushrooms but received mash potatoes. When we asked for the mushrooms our server noted that she had written it down correctly. By the time the mushrooms came out 1 of us in our party was already done with their meal. The mushrooms were absolutely unseasoned. We ended up adding our own salt n pepper. The steaks and sauces were good but we can get a steak anywhere we came for an elevated experience and this time the mark was missed.

Stopped in for lunch. I had the 6 oz. filet which was the most generous 6 oz. filet I ve ever had. The steak was cooked to perfection, along with delicious mashed potatoes and vegetables.
