This park is close to where my friend lives, so we often end up walking there. It s convenient for us, but I probably wouldn t go out of my way to visit this park on my own. Here s why... First, the park can get really crowded, especially on weekends. It feels a bit too busy if you re looking for a quiet place to relax. Also while the park has some nice views it s not very well-maintained. Some areas are a little run-down and could use some cleaning up. Lastly, parking can be a hassle...

Nice little park but this place is absolutely filled with fire ants. Not the small kind either, bjt the big fat ones that crunch when you squish them. Not only that they dont seem to build mounds so you cant avoid them. They are just everywhere hiding in the grass and hyper aggressive. They will attack you if gou are just sitting on the rocks or whatever.

Large park! Lots of open land for any activity. We came right after Easter / I was disappointed that people didn t seem to clean up well after themselves..there was a lot of plastic basket stuffing resembling grass near the pond so it can easily be ingested by the ducks. I did see some park maintenance cleaning along the grass but they did not bother to pick up any trash near the water & there s a lot! A brick building is the only place that offers any shade from the sun. Didn t go to check it out but there s also a caged area for some type of sport. Playground: The playground has 3 sections: 1 for younger children - it pretty much consists of a double slide, steps and a tunnel. Looked to be about 6 feet in height maximum. The other 2 areas are for older children, easier 2.5 to 3x taller in height but the side railing leaves no gaps for an accidental fall to occur Toilets: I assume they must have had public bathrooms in the past but now they are permanently closed. You can see in the pictures that the metal is sealed shut. I do think I saw 2 porta potties at the entrance near the road..

It was so-so. There are some nice plants, buildings, and paths. However, during the day on a weekday.....I would steer clear. I am guessing most people come here on the weekends, because I certainly saw a lot of shady seeming activity during the week. There are better parks to go to during the week for a walk.

This park is a special place, located within the inner city you forget that you re in an urban setting. As an FYI, a loop around the park I. The sidewalk is 1 mile so it helps you keep track of how far you ve walked. Playground: Since this park is in a historic district, the playground is modeled after the old-school rocket ship playgrounds but with updated plastic materials that won t burn kiddos legs. Toilets: There are no restrooms, sometimes there are porta-potties. If you re so inclined, please send a message to the Dallas District 1 council person and to the Parks Dept requesting restrooms. There is a restroom building but it needs repairs and is always locked. Dog-friendliness: It clearly is dog friendly as it s a park but this park doesn t have doggie waste stations like others do. Please bring your own pick up bags. Picnic area: There are picnic tables on the west side, off of Crawford St.

We just renewed our Vows at this location April 29th and it was absolutely beautiful. I searched for outdoor venues to have our ceremony and everyone was charging thousands of dollars but I ended up contacting the city of Dallas Parks and recreation and rented out the beautiful garden with a water fountain for $25 an hour with a total of $75 for 3 hours. I would recommend this spot to anyone. The Dallas Skyline also shows in the background.

An anchor to this psrt of Oak Cliff as a pleasant landscape witb plenty of lawn area surrounding a lake that seems large for its setting. There are a few stone pavilions that look to be among those widely built by tbe WPA or the CCC during the depression. At night the park changes looks with the green area turning pitch black and the surface of the calm lake mirroring the lights from nearby high-rise apartments and surrounding commercial area. Strangely the park never appears to be busy. Occasionally, there will be a group playing soccer or using one of the tennis courts. Sometimes a family gathers to celebrate a childs birthday or relax in the shade for a picnic. But never have I seen compition for space like one sees at other parks. Tne closeness of single-family homes on a couple of sides, older high-rise apartments mixed with new construction and small neighborhood service retail makes Lake Cliff Park a soothing urban setting and a nice asset. Toilets: There are some but COVID restrictions limit their operation.
