I am amazed by the level of dedication that Attorney Cohen placed in handling my case. Not only did he take on a difficult case and difficult office to work with, but he fought hard. I reached out to Joel because the EEOC said he could help. He isnt helpful at all and was extremely rude to me through email! He doesnt seem to have a heart for women who were wronged by men they worked with. I suggest that the EEOC takes him off the list of helpful lawyers. Wrongful termination needs to be taken seriously by those claiming to help. So many women out there suffer because lawyers refuse to help even when they have a clear case of title VII. If all you were gonna do is say I didnt charge you for this email you should of never replied to mine. I need someone who can actually help and be helpful and unfortunately Joel is not that person

My experience with Joel Cohen was absolutely horrible. I wish you could put negative stars. His communication skills were very poor. We filed with the EEOC in October. After months of waiting with little communication, I, MYSELF, was the one checking the EEOC portal for updates and I noticed the status had changed to an agreement to mediate. I reached out to Joel with questions on what that had meant since I had not been given any updates yet, and he had no idea the status had even changed. My case felt of very low importance to him.. This case was over EXTREMELY inappropriate and traumatizing experiences with my previous employer. I had plenty of proof and witnesses for my case. And I feel as if he did not take it very seriously. That was my initial take on him from the beginning, my first impression was that he only was out for money and not justice. However I was desperate for help (only a small time frame that I can file against them, as well as not having enough money upfront to hire another attorney). I tried to give benefit of the doubt. Another few months pass up to May when we finally had our mediation. Joel calls me just days before the mediation and asks me to remind him again what my case was about. He did not remember almost any details of my case.. Our mediation was done over the phone due to Covid policies. The mediation took HOURS. During majority of the mediation Joel would completely disappear. He said he had other things to do and told me to stay on the line and just call him when they came back. During mediation when he was there he did not do very well representing me. He left out many important factors I had mentioned. After multiple hours on the mediation call, I could no longer mentally or emotionally handle anymore and agreed to a mediation. I felt as if he completely down played my situation and kept pressuring me to feel extremely thankful for the small amount we did receive. I was not in a good emotional state to make the decision after hours of what felt like torture waiting alone and I regret it very much. I was so mentally exhausted and emotionally hurt from the year and a half of going through the abuse then having it drug out for months of waiting, and just wanting something to be done about it and needing someone to help me. I trusted when Joel advised the contract was thorough even though looking back through in a more clear state it is a suspicious contact. I feel as if he was sided with the company I filed against. It is very concerning to me the way he would leave the call while the other party privately mediated and also the way he pressured me so hard into taking their small offers as well as being persistent on the sketchy contract and the way that he repeatedly tried convincing me that my case did not need to go to court. The amount we finally agreed to was incredibly small considering the severity of the incidents. The whole situation made me feel hopeless, unbelieved and unimportant. The whole experience from the beginning of my experience with said company up to the mediation and even now has been so emotionally damaging that I went into a major depression and now have to regularly see a therapist. And to add insult to injury, he continued to ask and even said (feels like begging) for me to write him a 5 star review. Even knowing how upset I was with how the case turned out. It is truly disgusting how people can abuse and harass others and continue to get away with it. Yet now I see some of the ways in which they do. Money allows these people to do anything they want to others and to get away with it when they can pay their way out. My heart breaks for the other people experiencing this that are unable to get the true justice they deserve too. I hate that I wasnt emotionally strong enough to stick to it and keep fighting for more that I deserved. My advice to any others going through these situations and wanting JUSTICE and not just a small payout that you are pressured to take, FIND ANOTHER ATTORNEY and do not give up when told you have no other options.

As i had not planned on suing my former employer, I did not act as I would have had I sought the advice of an attorney prior to my resigning my position. This fact did not deter Joel Cohen. From our first conversation, he was a fierce and dedicated advocate for my case and me. He was respectful and continually updated me on the progress of my claim. When I waivered and debated dropping the whole thing, he encouraged me to keep going. And I am so very glad I did. My case was settled and I received a fair settlement. But more importantly, I feel vindicated and am able to move on knowing that I stood up for myself and was heard. I have Joel Cohen to thank for that. He is an excellent attorney and I cannot recommend him highly enough. An important point to add....I am in the midwest and Joel is in Texas. If you have concerns about working remotely...dont.
