It s been awhile since I ve been here and honestly was hoping for a better experience. Labor Day weekend and they were out of uni and okra so we didn t try any of that. We ordered the grilled branzino & octopus leg. The fish was perfectly cooked / tender. We of course ordered the rock shrimp which is a classic here. The baby yellowtail carpaccio was very fresh (best dish) but the tuna . I ve never seen tuna served with the white connective tissue on there like that so it was not melty like it should be. Anyways, not bad but not that great either.

Incredible service from a passionate and helpful staff. Highly recommend the pork jowl, miso marinated sea bass, shishito peppers, and the grilled rice ball (for dessert, surprisingly!). Zoe was an amazing guide to our experience and was very enthusiastic to assist our first time here.

Been following this place and bookmarked this spot for years to try on my many trips to see Americas team. It was a Wednesday evening and I was very excited after we made the same-day reservation, hoping to get the same good experience as those described in the reviews However, after our first visit, I doubt I would go back as the food and menu were a bit disappointing. First of all, I don t find as many options as what an authentic Robata bar would normally offer. I also didn t see any chefs using traditional Robata techniques to serve their dishes. Service-wise, the chefs we met at the counter were all super friendly and nice. The sashimi & sushis we ordered were pretty standard. The okra salad was super unique with mustard seeds and bonito. The soft shell crab salad was really meaty. The premium sushi selection went up $4 from $30. Lastly, just wanna share my favorite dish of the day - yuzu pork jowl. Definitely a must order!

The great reviews on Google brought us to this restaurant. It was a Sunday evening and we were very excited after we made the same-day reservation, hoping to get the same good experience as those described in the reviews However, after our first visit, I doubt we would go back a agin as the food and menu were a bit disappointing. First of all, I don t find as many options as what an authentic Robata bar would normally offer, and a lot of the stuff we ordered were not available (e.g. fish collars, beef on rock, etc). I also didn t see any chefs using traditional Robata techniques to serve their dishes. Service-wise, the chefs we met at the counter were all super friendly and nice, but the server for our table was not particularly helpful. The sashimi & sushis we ordered were pretty standard. The cornflakes crispy prawns are fresh but way too oily. The sea bass + enoki tasted good but the fish they offered was actually cod (not sea bass). I suggest them updating the menu or at least instruct their server to communicate with customers as it was quite misleading and no one explained to us as to why a different type of fish was served. Lastly, just wanna share my favorite dish of the day - yuzu pork jowl. Definitely a must order!

Service and atmosphere were top notch and are perfect for a quiet date night (we went on a Tuesday). Our favorite dishes: the Snapper Carpaccio and Yellowtail sushi. We also enjoyed the unfiltered sake! Matcha ice cream to finish. Other items pictured are the Chilean Sea Bass, the Negi roll, and fried shrimp with flakes.

Tei Tei Robata Bar, youve woven your magic over my taste buds for ten years now! Their service is truly unmatched. Forget ever having a dry throat - your drinkware becomes an ever-flowing fountain! Between courses, the tables experience a silent metamorphosis, emerging sparkling clean for the next culinary adventure. Anticipation is their middle name - a dropped chopstick disappears and a fresh set materializes before you can even think new chopsticks please! The food? Divine. Their legendary Cornflake Shrimp is a symphony of textures and flavors - crispy, golden flakes cradling juicy shrimp. The sea bass, grilled to perfection, is another masterpiece. Every bite at Tei Tei is a testament to their culinary artistry. Tei Tei Robata Bar isnt just a restaurant, its a DFW gem. Their unwavering commitment to service and mouthwatering cuisine make it a must-visit for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience. Thanks for ten years of magic, Tei Tei! Parking: Complimentary Valet directly behind the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Great experience! My lil foodies are also well-behaved.

I have been coming here on and off for years, ever since it opened some 20+ years ago. I don t live in Dallas anymore but when I visit I make sure to come back because the food is out of this world. We dined in the restaurant last night and it did not disappoint. The service was on point. Every time we needed something or water was spilled or someone put their napkin down to go to the restroom, the staff was on top of it before we could even think about asking. It seems like the customer s experience is their top priority. And the food!!! I love the crispy rice ball (order this early because it takes a long time) with the foil wrapped sea bass and enoki mushrooms. The okra salad was also an excellent treat. The beef curry was a surprise and very comforting. Really you can t go wrong with the menu. I appreciate the seasoned chefs making the food in front of the restaurant. The atmosphere is warm, inviting and excellent. I love this place and hope to visit for another 20 years!

Beautiful ambience with bamboos and rocks in the yard. Valet service is super convenient. Food portion is super small. We ordered this fried crab dish and only realized how small the crabs were after it was presented. Miniature crabs. You have to order a lot of dishes to feel full. Very Pricy. Service was very slow. We waited at least 20 minutes for the rice dishes. The raw fish was very fresh. But the cooked tuna was salty and cooked quill skewer was fishy. I would not come back to this restaurant again.

I absolutely adore this establishment, the food, the service and the overall atmosphere just intertwine with each other so well. I see why it has been going on for over 25 years. I took my lovely date out to eat here and it exceeded my expectations. The food and drink is on the expensive side but it is worth every penny! The staff are so nice and friendly. I sat at the bar where we were greeted by Alan and David, swear to god their smiles would light up your whole evening, the food was beyond amazing, something you wouldn t find anywhere else it is truly so fresh and delicious! The servers that weren t even at our table would come by and check on us, top off our waters, and always asked us if we needed anything else! Honestly I am so amazed by this customer service I wish I could give them a 100 stars! Dylan and Zoe were very helpful and kind throughout the whole night when we were there :) I highly recommend this place for new comers and regulars to visit this place! 10/10

Top notch quality sushi fish and rice, Japanese robata / karage. I dont think Ive gotten better service either outside of Michelin star restaurants. They were constantly attending to filling up hot green Japanese tea, fresh each time. Someone came by to wipe up a very minor soy sauce spill on the table I didnt even notice. I hope these folks stay in business forever. Its definitely a treat, but the prices are worth it for a splurge.

Tei Tei has recently switched to a reservation only system and apparently wont seat anyone, even if the restaurant is nearly empty. Even their bar is reservation only now. If thats the way they are operating, they should at least have something notifying customers so that they dont waste time waiting for the place to open, only to be turned away. I have been to Tei Tei regularly in the past and left many good reviews previously. I will not be going back after this experience.

Fabulous food! The blue fin toro roll was so good, we ordered a 2nd. The sashimi was outstanding, and so was the grilled fish. While I understand they are really busy, I almost didnt go because of a $25 per person cancellation fee. More on principal than concern for the cost. That being said, it was less expensive than I was expecting. 186.00 for 3 people, including a bottle of wine, and a good amount of food. We were all happily full!

The awesomeness has not changed a single bit. Food was on point as usual! My Kubota premium sake was like mothers milk. My only complaint was that there was not a bottle of sweet potato shochu on the menu which is a very popular varietal?! Kind of strange... As always the bill is always costly when dealing with freshness so be prepared to do dishes.

You dont have to read the rest of this review. If you like authentic sushi, just go there. Lets start with the service. Our waitress was extremely attentive. She filled our beer and sake glasses regularly and changed our plates obsessively for clean ones. I havent had this level of service in a long time (pre-covid). The food was amazing. Every item was fresh and tasty. The nigiri was prepared traditionally; fish pieces thick and rice composition perfect. This place definitely earned bonus points for more traditional fare such as baby yellowtail kama (cheeks), fried sawagani (Japanese freshwater crab), and live lobster sashimi (yes its alive). This is real Japanese food. Lastly, the prices were reasonable. You know you werent upcharged because some famous chef has their name on the place. Go and book a table. Now.

You can order the full menu here! What weve ordered: Uni (of course!), snow crab with rice soup, octopus cups (worth the try, so good!) soft-shell crab roll, qual yakitori! All foods were excellent and we did indulge a little too much! But why not when the food is so good! Lastly, we paired our food with Japanese whiskey from Mars to Suntory, they have it all! I love this place Im from San Diego and I have lived in Japan for 2 years, What Im trying to say is that I know a little about Sushi and how it should be served. This place similar to a Japanese Izakaya restaurant but with higher end service and food. The servers know the menu and can recommend dishes, or explain them for you. The staff are very friendly and make you feel at home, I cant wait to go again. I would not hesitate recommending this restaurant

Tei Tei Robata was the best sushi Ive ever had. Shinsei is the only place close. The yellowtail, Chilean seabass, and lobster roll were fantastic.

Andy did an incredible job at caring for us, making recommendations, and answering any questions we had about the menu. I look forward to visiting again soon and will be requesting Andy as my waiter. Also grateful for Yoni who assisted Andy. The entire experience was a delight!

Nice place, great atmosphere, super nice staff, and good service. Food prices are outrageous. 7 piece sushi sampler: $30. (7) Small pieces and not much rice as well. Cool building, hot location, nice people; sushi is overrated and over priced.

The food here was phenomenal. This is not coming from someone that hasnt had some of the best sushi in Okinawa Japan. You can taste the freshness in every bite and the service is great. Food service come and refill your water and beer as soon as it gets to mid-glass

Food is delicious on top of exceptional service. The staff here is knowledgeable and makes sure that youre well taken care of throughout your time dining with them. The frog leg karaage with maitake was an exquisite plate to kick off your journey. The chewy mushroom goes well with the exotic almost-taste-like-chicken texture of the frog legs. The sauce further complements the pairs since its lightly sour and savory. Miso seabass itself was a delightful dish because you clearly taste the flavor of miso in every bite. Sushi rolls was fresh and flavorful in its own fashion. But what stands out the most for me was the A5 wagyu on hot rock because the experience enhances the food since youre deciding how to cook the wagyu yourself and the dipping sauce they provide was *chef kiss. Overall, outstanding experience dining here and definitely will come back!

We enjoyed their robata and the whole grilled fish! The sushi is average. A bit disappointed on their feed me roll. It supposed to be a chef special and a surprise but it was just some California rolls with salmon on top. Service is very good though.

I stopped by Tei Tei after falling in love with Tei-An. I really enjoyed the Robata aspect but the menu was somewhat similar. To its credit it is an amazing menu, Id come back all the time if I could.

I originally chose Tei Tei Robata for sushi. There was not a large selection of rolls. But that doesnt knock this amazing restaurant at all! This dimly-lit and atmospheric restaurant has all kinds of seating arrangements for various personality types. The bar staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable! The chefs are not slouches, either! The traditional dishes were excellent! The surprise of the night was the hearty Cornflake Crusted Shrimp (featuring a goodly amount of meaty shrimp) that delivers when you want something different than Panko crusting. This restaurant is deserving of its praise!

I had not been in a while. Food quality has diminished significantly. Some sushi is frozen and not fresh. Some fish dishes are still pretty good. It is possible the place is under new management. The biggest difference was service. Staff was not only less friendly from previous visits, but down right rude. My date was admonished by management for her attire and appearance. I Will definitely not be going back. Go to Little Katana or Nobu if you are in the Uptown area. Neither one is 4 or 5 star, but much better service and food quality.

We left with huge Disappointment , not eating at all, but paid for Valet for nothing. Our 1st time with this place being pushed out, NEVER COME BACK, we couldnt even sit down and relax, nor even have time to look at the menu, but all rushed rushed with 1.30hr per dinner time frame ...

Best restaurant I ve ever been to! I ordered the traditional Omakase. It was such a fun experience. They bring out each of the courses and after each one you have a short time to talk and drink before the next course. Hard to pick a favorite but the sea bass, Washu beef on the rock and cornflake shrimp were some of the the best. The sushi samplers were incredible. The waitress did an excellent job walking us through the menu and each dish. Also loved the atmosphere. I highly recommend visiting!

This is my favorite restaurant in Dallas. Plates cooked to perfection, exotic atmosphere, and great service. It s is intimate, you can see the chefs cooking all the meals, it smells great, and delicious food especially from the grill. Their lounge is fun with a DJ who plays music to set the mood.
