Waitress decided to call my wife and I, kids the entire night because we chose not to drink on a weekday. Maybe a weird peer pressure tactic she thinks works. My chicken parm came out and all the breading fell completely off, it also had basically no sauce, when I told her it was dry and asked for more sauce to make it better, she did so....but then charged me for a cup of soup on the menu.... what type of customer service is that. The only reason my review is not a 1 because of the atmosphere and; lasagna was good. I will give this place one more shot.

Upon walking in we were immediately sat and greeted by our server Alesha. She was so sweet and helped us pick out plates based on the portion sizes we were wanting. We ordered the shrimp scampi and tortellini which came out in 15 minutes. The torts & scampi both were AMAZING. the vodka sauce was perfect and the homemade pasta elevates this restaurant and is 100% the best italian food i ve had to date. the atmosphere is upscale but still casual enough to enjoy laughing with your friends over dinner. Job well done! PS. best espresso martini EVER

Barsottis seems to be the forgotten site in Julian Barsottis collection. Note how Google still calls it Carbones, and doesnt even find Barsottis. Staff are poorly trained. The girl on the Maitred stand tried to seat us at the least desirable table in the house (right in front of the door with searing westward sun and hot drafts streaming in on a 90 degree day) while only three tables were occupied. It was fortunate (maybe deliberate?) of the waitress not to ask us about the fried calamari -- it was made of Kevlar. Tortellini Vodka had a lifeless sauce and for $26 was poor value. Caesar with chicken was also $26. Only $16 down the street at Eatzis, and just as good. But good A/C! This place needs a strong manager and a better cook. It gives all the signs of an absentee landlord. I would not be surprised to see it close, given its current dire state.

This has to be one of the best restaurants in town. Everything was fresh and so well prepared and the taste alone drove my tastebuds wild. Today had the Linguine Shrimp Scampi (nothing scampi about it), started with calamari, and finished with the Carrot Cake (my absolute favorite).

This is, in my opinion, one of the best Italian restaurants in Dallas. The food prices are fair, the wine is reasonably priced, and the flavors are authentic. The meatball pasta and shrimp scampi pasta are especially delicious. I hope more restaurants like this continue to thrive in Dallas.

Just thought Id chime in here to say ignore sunny shunderas reviews. Thats a fake name (check out the same reviews on yelp from a different name). She is a hardcore hater, leaving 1 star reviews for some of the most beloved restaurants, Barsottis included. Barsottis, as well as a dozen other spots she hates, are stellar. Total loss of credibility.

Barsottis has been our favorite Italian spot in Dallas for some time now. There has never been anything we had that did not taste fantastic, and is where we take all out family to go when theyre in town. Our favorite dishes are the spaghetti & meatball and the chicken parm vodka (the sauce is the main thing here). The chicken parm has been going down in quality over time, as the first time it was flat and crisp while still being moist inside, but the last two times has been a little thicker and not quite as crispy. The lasagna and ravioli are also very good, but not our favorites. On the appetizer front, theyre not great for the price. Calamari isnt flavorful enough on its own (sauce hides that though), the garlic bread is good but super expensive, and the Caesar comes out not cut up at all which is weird and doesnt get enough dressing on the leaves. I will say that ever since the renovation, the atmosphere of the place might be elevated but its not the same cute Italian shop feel and can become very loud and overcrowded. As many others say, the bar might actually be the better seating option if just dining as two. Parking: The front parking lot is usually full but theres a whole parking lot behind the store that is usually empty.

Great Italian Food located at the entrance of Highland Park/Oak Lawn area. They make the pasta in house and you can tell because it s delicious. I got the garlic bread and ricotta which honestly was just okay. The gem salad was good and shareable between two people but a little expensive at $16. The star of the show for me was the waitresses recommendation of the Tortellini Vodka. Man oh man, there is meat and cheese inside the tortellini but still light, filling, and flavorful (especially that sauce ) We also got the veal Parmesan which was good too and it comes with a side pasta. All in all, I look forward to coming again and bringing out of town guests here too. Barsotti s keep doing what you are doing!

Casual, comfortable, calamari... Actually the calamari was the downfall. Its rare Ill ever dislike a calamari fritti, however on this day, it was crunchy, like eating a crispy wonton crunchy... Captain Crunch without milk crunchy...which would be a solid thing if the calamari pieces didnt seem to be the bottom of the barrel variety. Each bite left me wondering if I was actually eating calamari or just batter shaped like calamari...a rather peculiar feeling. But, now onto the good stuff... The ricotta with garlic bread was delicious and understandably a favorite, as were the ravioli fritti with side of red sauce. The creste with Sunday gravy was nice, but Ive got an Italian wife who would give you a run for your money. The meatball hero is the star of this dissertation. Just enough meatball, slabbed with mozzarella and sauce on a perfectly crispy bread. Looking forward to coming back to try more.

We had a poor experience here where we were told a 45 minute wait, then 60 minutes in told it would be another hour and a half. No one told us we were waiting for a reservation to cancel, and frankly I am certain it was an excuse for the host making an error. Why else tell us you will text us when the table is ready? Who else operates a wait list in such a manner? It spoiled a date for my partner and I. I contacted the restaurant via the contact us option on the website and asked to speak with someone about it in a polite message. I ve heard nothing back in over a week now and at this stage, I m certain I won t. I ve been coming here for years and I can t get 5 minutes to express my concerns. I will take our patronage to establishments that don t appear to believe they are too popular to need to give audience to justifiably unhappy guests. There is plenty of delicious Italian-American food to be had in Dallas elsewhere.

Reboot of the former Carbone s restaurant picks up significantly improved digs that are worthy of the great Italian food that comes out of the kitchen. Pastas and sandwiches are great across the board, and I especially like the Antipasti Salad. Service was a little confused on my last visit. It seemed like stations weren t ready for service and there was a bit of an issue with everyone understanding their assignments, but maybe that will improve with time. Great place to grab a quick bite for lunch or a casual family dinner.

. Formerly, Carbones Italian restaurant in Oaklawn, now renovated and called Barsotti s is a semi cozy and intimate spot, perfect for a romantic dinner or a small gathering with friends. The tables are close together, which can be a bit overwhelming at times, but the atmosphere is charming nonetheless. However, the acoustics are terrible, and it can get very loud inside. Unfortunately, I left with a migraine headache due to the noise level. While the service was spotty, its important to note that the restaurant is still new and getting into the swing of things. The lasagna was large and delicious, although not particularly unique. The chicken Parmesan was very good, with a nice-sized piece of chicken and great flavor. The chop salad was also delicious, and I would highly recommend all three dishes. One major disappointment was the lack of California wines on the menu. As a wine lover, I was hoping to enjoy a good California Cabernet with my meal, but unfortunately, that was not an option. It felt like the owner was trying to restrict our choices and push us in a certain direction, which was disappointing. Comparing Carbones to Fachini in Highland Park Village, which is owned by the same person, I have to say that I prefer the food and ambience at Fachini. The staff is more seasoned, and the dining experience is overall more enjoyable, despite the lack of California wines on the menu. At least I could enjoy a cocktail without being overwhelmed by the noise level.

We were in for the reopening under their new name as Barsotti s and had a fantastic meal. So good to see our old favorites on the menu (the green salad with the walnuts is always on our table) but great to see the new additions. The Cacio e Pepe might be the best version I ve ever had and the red snapper with spinach was delicious. We had really missed the fish with Texas cream peas that had been missing from the menu for so long. So glad to see a fish dish back on the menu it was perfectly cooked with an amazing crust. Special thanks to Michelle who took great care of us! The new look is beautiful. It hits the right note between swanky and neighborhood place. Love the new bar and glad to see my favorite Barco Reale is still on the wine list. Hoping we might see panna cotta back on the dessert menu in this new version of a favorite place and maybe a bottle of Amaro Nonnino at the bar to start the night with a paper plane :) so glad to have this place back as always it s more than worth the drive from Frisco! The customer service is A+ and the wine selection is large. A little pricey but wine is wine. The actual menu is very small. Not too many options to choose from but we got the fried Ravioli as an appetizer and it was stuffed with some kind of sausage and cheese. This trip I ordered the St. Louis Fried Ravioli, Fried Zucchini, Bruschetta, Garlic Bread with Ricotta, Lasagna Bolognese, Spaghetii & Meatball all washed down with an order of Cannolis. There was a single item that I regretted ordering.

There were four people in our party. Hostess wasn t overly friendly seating us. Service started out fine but it went downhill from there as our waiter did not come to check on us to see if we needed anything else. Long wait for food but once it was served it was good.

I was able to go to Carbone s with my mom when I was visiting from out of state. We went last summer when I was in town, as well. We have had excellent food and service, as well as a visit to our table from the owner on both occasions, which really adds an above and beyond touch. I would recommend dining there to locals and out-of-towners alike.

One of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. Consistent, locally owned and unpretentious. Great and casual service delivering some of the finest meals with the best Italian sauces in Dallas. They also work with local farmers and I ve noticed they choose some of the finest, fresh ingredients. Always a relaxing treat to dine there. I like it for lunch as well and it s located on the cusp of Highland Park and North Oak Lawn Ave., across from Al Biernat s. So location is hard to beat.

After frequenting a series of Michelin star restaurants, this one was absolutely unsatisfactory and severely needs improvement!!

Over hyped. Food was cold and out of all the dishes we tried, the spicy rigatoni vs, was the only plate we enjoyed. Everything else was pretty mediocre. Irrationally over priced food that lacked any flavor.Had a reservation and it took 20min for us to be seated.

We went as a party of 9 with a reservation. We were not seated for a good 20 minutes and the party was split between 2 separate tables for the initial part of the dinner. Another table opened up and they moved us together. Then, when we ordered the meal, they were out of calamari. We then received our food, some of our party mentioned that the veal Parmesan was a bit cold. My linguine scampi was quite delicious however Needless to say, we went in with high hopes but left sorely disappointed. Do better.

Stopped for the first time for a pre-concert dinner. The menu is small, which is fine, but 90% of the dishes had pork in them. It was difficult to enjoy some of the house-made ravioli and tortellini. Wine selection is nice. They do have good service and a nice airy atmosphere for a small restaurant. I ended up just asking for the little gem Caesar and linguini aglio olio. It was ok.

We liked Carbones until they eliminated protein choices like the chicken and fish. Man cannot live on pasta alone we were further disappointed when we were told that the chicken prices were too high and didn t wanted to have to pass the cost to the clients? I think this is the most absurd answer you could ever give a patron especially if you are in the restaurant business. Their prices are comparable to most restaurant that cater to an affluent clientele for that area although the food items are very simple in both content and preparation. Bring the protein choices back and we will likely come back again.

Food and service were good! Except for the following...deserts were great looking, but, stodgy and somewhat dry. My bone of contention was my wife ordered the halibut and asked for a side of spaghetti...it arrived, butter coated and just a handful. $10 RIDICULOUS...our table was 6 strong and was over $75 per person... for $10 greed...they wont ever get my custom again.

One of the most authentic Italian restaurants in Dallas! Must try ASAP! Service Staff is always attentive, helpful and nice! Truly genuine and helpful! I appreciate them very much! Food Food is beyond amazing, very homemade feel. They do make pasta here, and it shows! Many places claim this, however, Carbone s lives up to the hype. My kids love spaghetti with meatballs, my wife loves lasagna with eggplant and I absolutely love scampi (shrimp) linguine! The fried ravioli is A+ as well! As of deserts, carrot cake is super, cannoli is cool, however, chocolate cake just steals the show!!! Must get chocolate cake!!! Parking Plenty of parking, nice spots and easy to get a spot! Atmosphere A+ very home like, all people that work here and kind and nice. Super relax yet professional love it! Decor and the vibes Seams like Bay Area or maybe NYC, nice open space with some rustic vintage vibes! Music is nice, AC is cool ( ), tables and chairs are part of Italian vibe! Potty and cleanliness Awesome, potty is clean, place is always nice and sparkling! Overall 5 stars, must go, minimum once per week it s good for you! And to all that say it s $$$, just think about it, there are cost associated with a business and money has to be made, cost simply reflect love, energy and hours that these people put in! So no, it s not expensive it s priced accordingly to the presentation and quality!

Excellent casual, but seriously good Italian fare from Julian Barsotti. Although the setting may be unpretentious, the food is anything but. His handmade pasta is the best in Dallas. The red tomato sauce is so flavorful and complex you could enjoy eating it just on its own. The restaurant is comfortable and the service is fine, although the prices are toward the high end for what you get. They previously did not take reservations for small parties (fewer than 6 people), but that may have changed.

I went in with high hopes, but was let down in a couple of ways. So, the lasagna bolognese was actually pretty delicious. However, I dont think it was appropriately packaged -- it is extremely saucy to be put from a cardboard box. I felt pretty barbaric scraping the sauce from the corners. Considering the price point, I dont think it is too unreasonable to expect a proper container to be provided, especially during the pandemic when to-go orders are a necessity. I will admit the the lasagna was DELICIOUS after all. But it was probably like 40% cheese, so its hard to go wrong there. The meat and sauce were very good as well though. But it did not sit very well in my stomach, probably due to the excessive amount of cheese. The garlic bread however was HARD and rattled around in the box the same way day-old pizza crusts would. It was all crunch and no chew. Maybe it was just the wrong time of day to get fresh bread? (~ 3pm) Overall, I did enjoy my meal but it sat heavy in the stomach, the packaging was poor, and the garlic bread was flat out bad. I would be more inclined to overlook these issues if the price were a little lower. I might give it another try one day, but I think that for the price point, I would rather try somewhere else first.
