Asked me to remove my review because Chris originally reposponded to me back at the end of August when I wasnt 100% ready to move forward. Now it is October and I wanted to move forward but this is when they did not respond. I do not believe this warrants a removal of my review.

I was in desperate need of a divorce lawyer, but I did not know how to go about choosing a lawyer that best suited my needs. Complete waste of time & money, and only further traumatized me, so much so that I didnt find new counsel but ending up closing my entire case against a serial predator NCP. All the 5 star reviews and the initial free consultation were great. I felt my needs were heard and confirmed before Chris passed me to his associate lawyer, Lisa Krieder. Lisa didnt seem to get any background info/guidance from Chris before contacting me because she had me repeat my story on at least 3 different occasions, and even still did not believe my experience with this predator (why take my case if you dont believe me??) She completely folded when she spoke to opposing counsel, did not push for what I requested, and shared private details also known as breaking attorney/client privilege. I felt like I needed a lawyer to speak on my behalf to my lawyer. I felt WORSE than I did before I called them, and was out of $2k (of borrowed money) that resulted from some court filings and phonecalls/emails. Might work for you on a simple divorce, but did not work for me.

The reason of my visit was to gather information about the possibility of filing for a divorce, and I was extremely pleased that I was able to do so. During our initial consultation, we spoke with Chris, and based on the positive online reviews, we expected him to be our attorney. The consultation left us content, with the impression that our case would be straightforward, and the cost would be a reasonable $5,000. However, after signing, we discovered that Chris would not be our attorney; instead, our case was assigned to another attorney within the firm. We had no prior knowledge of this new attorney, and her availability was not discussed during the consultation. This law firm is excessively focused on money and charges for anything for eg:. This money-driven law firm even charged me for an unscheduled call I missed, and I had to remind them that a call not previously agreed upon was also billed. It highlights their tendency to charge for anything and everything, raising concerns about their financial focus. I cannot recommend them. If youre a mother battling for custody, avoid contacting them; they essentially relinquished my case, agreeing to everything. I initially expected a $5,000 fee for modifying prior custody, but they ended up charging $19,000 for a case resolved in mediation. Chris was unprepared, at mediation and lacked knowledge of my taxes, income, and the issues Id been fighting for months. He lacks the assertiveness needed to advocate for mothers rights, and I strongly advise against choosing this attorney.

Everyone here were very nice and helpful. And even though my divorce was uncontested it took a little longer than expected because me and my husband would have to come to agreements. I don t understand how this place has a high rating. It s too expensive for too little work to be done. The attorneys in this office are not good, and will not fight for you. They like to just ask for money and not work in your favor. It s really that disappointing. I gave them more than the estimated divorce should cost which is over 10,000 and I never got to finish filing for my divorce because they still needed more money apparently. Never use this business.

I had unfortunately dealt with a couple attorneys before I found Chris Schmiedeke s office and had wasted a couple thousand dollars for absolutely no help at all. Chris and his team went above and beyond starting at the first initial call and consultation. Everyone in this office actually cares about people and their families and will do anything to help! Amanda was the biggest blessing to my family. She jumped through all kinds of hoops and obstacles to find and terminate parental rights of the other biological parent and made our family official on paper through adoption. Amanda not only stayed in constant contact but she answered any ridiculous question or concern I had. Not only did they not try to squeeze every penny out of the situation but they genuinely care and that in itself is what makes them greater than anyone else out there! None of this even mentions how quickly and on the ball they were with every single step. Allen and Jade were great, and handled my case with care. I was hit with two motions by my ex and was worried, as I never been through the court battle process. Anyone fighting for custody has a lot to worry about, but not with this firm. My case dragged on for months, mostly because of my ex dragging his feet after he filed the motions... but that did not stop Allen and jade from taking action and getting me the best outcome in the end. The pay is not cheap, but just like with anything else... you get what you pay for. When I originally contacted this law firm, I did so based on the reviews I had read. One that still stands out in my mind read somewhere along the lines of if you value time with your child, hire this law firm . During the consultation, Chris was very helpful and assured me that his firm would take care of me. I worked on my custody case with Allen and Jade mostly but Shelly and Amanda also assisted me a great deal. First off I want to say Allen is a rockstar!! He didn t just represent me in the toughest battle of my life, but he advised me and constantly put my mind at ease. My case started off relatively basic, but evolved into a dirty storm full of lies, false allegations, and dirty tactics. At one point about halfway through my case, I wasn t able to see my daughter for 38 days. This rattled me to my core, I didn t know what to do or how to see my daughter again. Needless to say I was filled with anxiety. If I needed to talk to Allen to ease my mind, he was always there. Every single time, I always felt better and relieved after getting off a call with Allen. He is extremely intelligent, diligent, empathetic, and personable. He always makes things easier to understand. I could not have asked for better representation. We got my daughter back, and ended up winning my case. It was a brutal 9 months, but was worth all of the pain, money, and tears. Secondly, Jade is the paralegal working on my case. She also was really helpful in assuring me everything was going to work out, and she is incredibly personable as well. Her and Allen work so great together and we re always in sync with the details of my case. I worked briefly with Amanda, and she was also very helpful. I worked the least amount of time with her, but on the parts we did work together on, she made it really easy and quick. She was very kind and responsive. Lastly, anytime I needed to speak to either jade or Allen, I first spoke with Shelly. I believe she is the office administrator, but unsure of her title. She is the sweetest, most kind, helpful, and genuine person that could be in that position. There were multiple times I called probably sounding in panic, but she always was able to help me and get me in touch with Allen or Jade. She eased my mind quite often as well. I began this review with a quote from another clients review; if you value time with your child, hire this law firm . I would like to add to that by saying, If you also value peace of mind, hire this law firm. They went above and beyond on my case and I will only work with them if I ever unfortunately have another family law case (fingers crossed I don t lol). They got my daughter back for me, they got me more out of my suit than I ever thought I could get, they made the entire process as smooth and easy as they possibly could, and they treated me like a relative, someone they genuinely believed was a good father and wanted to help to the full extent of their abilities. I had a good experience. There were a few lag times, however, you all did eventually get my concerns addressed. The mortgage company that you all use to look at property documents when a property is involved needs to explain what to do with the documents instead of just leaving your clients hanging. There was no clear direction on what to do with the warranty deeds and the deed of trust documents once the mortgage company finishes drawing up the documents. All your mortgage company did was charge me a $460 fee and left me hanging with documents that I had no clue on what to do with them. Almost two weeks go by not even knowing that I needed to get the documents notarized and send them back to Amanda. I thought that we get the documents notarized after the divorce.
