You have to have fairly deep pockets to eat a meal here! Two express breakfasts, one coffee one water, $27.50 BEFORE tip! Food just okay, not fantastic, pancake very mealy and chalky. I wouldnt drive across Dallas to eat here again. Service was great though.

This was just OK. I thought the texture of the pancake was weird. Nothing was bad enough to want to send it back and I m not the type to send something back just for not liking it. Two things were delicious, biscuits and gravy and also grits. But, overall, three stars.

I went here my last day in Dallas for breakfast and I am glad I did. I got the sausage and egg sandwich with cheese. It was very good, but the blueberry waffles were delicious. The atmosphere has the old fashioned diner feel and the staff were friendly. If I lived in Dallas, Id come here all the time!

Comfort breakfast food that tasted great and really hit the spot, but to be honest, its priced too high. It was not so much better than a Waffle House (for example) to warrant costing twice as much. Other than that, it was a classic diner atmosphere and service experience.

One of my favorite spots for breakfast or lunch on a day off. This place is always packed. Hot coffee, fat pancakes, and really good bacon. I tried the turkey club today, it was my first time having lunch food. It was a really large portion. The food is great, good diner experience. You just have to expect that it will always be packed.

I have been eating here for about 30 years now. It has gotten a lot more expensive, but thats ok because its worth the money. Fried catfish, which I have now ordered on two separate occasions, is consistently, transcendently great - fresh, light, crispy, flavorful, perfect balance of cornmeal to fish. The filets are never too thick or too thin and never overcooked. Its better than the fried catfish at any seafood place in DFW. Dont know how they out-catfish the catfish experts, but its clearly not a fluke (pardon the pun). Even the blackeyed peas were special, with just the right touch of pepper sauce. The cole slaw is a delicious family recipe. One off note reported by my companion: the open-faced roast beef sandwich is made with deli sliced processed roast beef. We dont recommend that menu item. The chocolate cream pie made my eyes roll back in my head. The service is friendly and eager to accommodate all requests. Love the staff here. Fun, hopping retro diner atmosphere. Its a true Dallas gem.

Accommodating staff and tasty food. Meatloaf sandwich and chili stew made for a great brunch, and I enjoyed the retro aesthetic of the diner. The diner is a short drive from the Renaissance Hotel (where I stayed), but hotel guests beware; there is no walkway that lets you walk across Harry Hines Blvd to the diner. Parking: Fair number of spots. Not too expansive nor cramped.

I went for lunch, specials run about $16.99. Today I tried the French Dip - it was good but not my very favorite. The Au Jus sauce couldve been a little more flavorful. Our waitress was prompt, food came out quickly and she refilled drinks several times. Love this lil diner - its a great lunch spit. SN - lunch specials do not include a drink in the price.

The first time I went the food was awesome but I was also with a group and I was the only Black person. Went with my family of 8 and we were handed menus and that was it. Two separate White guys and a White couple we sat minutes after us and they all received a proper greeting, menus, ASKED what they wanted to drink and received them BEFORE our waitress ever return to us. Of course as we are leaving the manager is concerned and apologetic but no need. Ive been Black for 50 years and I know when my kind isnt welcomed. Kid-friendliness: My kids are Black so No... it was not kid friendly

Typical diner with counter & sit-down table service. I ordered breakfast @ the counter meat the cashier. Breakfast was ready in about 10 minutes, cooked to order and followed my instructions (wheat toast, butter on the side) and packaged to stay hot. The cashier even asked me what jelly flavor I wanted & she poured coffee in a to-go cup & provided varieties of sugar & creamer. Overall very good experience. Parking: My daughter pulled up in a parking space right outside the door. Most other parking spots were taken; busy in/out service!

We found this dinner randomly when searching for places to eat in Dallas. Sitting was a little tight but it had that classic dinner feel. We sat instantly and our waiter was very attentive without asking. The food was exactly what we were looking for and did not let us down one bit, everything came out pretty fast. Was nice that everything came out pretty warm. Also easy to tell that our food did not sit on any warms and just came straight from being cooked to the tables. Which in todays times was very impressive, definitely will come back when in Dallas again.

The jalapeño cheese sticks were amazing! They were cooked perfectly with just the right amount of crunch and gooey. The kick of the jalapeño and the dipping sauce was exactly what a cheese stick needed! The portion sizes were ABUNDANT. I found the Mac and Cheese to be disappointing in that it seemed undercooked and lacked flavor but the vegetable soup was hearty and very flavorful, perfect amount of salty/savory comfort. Our other food was good as well and there were plenty of appetizing options. The decor and atmosphere was classic diner and I loved it. Lots of Marilyn, who doesn t want to look at that? Despite being extremely busy/crowded, our waitress was calm, collected, prompt, and pleasant. I was surprised at how quickly we got our food. I would caution that the seating is very crowded and close together. You feel like you are practically sitting with the people in the tables next to you. As such, it was very, very loud with everyone talking around you. We didn t talk much because we couldn t hear each other. If you have difficulty with loud/cacophony of noises or tight spaces, this setting may be difficult if they are busy.

First off, the pluses: the place is super popular - the parking lot is packed - yet they did turn over tables quite quickly. Friendly staff. Coffee pretty good and I enjoyed the fried okra and the side salad was very general, though 99% lettuce. Coconut cream pie was very nice. Super-flaky crust. Cornbread was nice too. I d ordered the catfish because it was billed as a daily special, but this was really horrible. It was 90% crispy coating with very thin fish soaked in grease and tasted off. So disappointed. I ate very little because I thought it may make me sick. It wasn t long ago that I wondered generally about where all those greasy spoon places went from my childhood, and this is one of those authentic diners like that, but dining has moved on from there. Parking: Saturday lunch - 11 am - had to wait for people to leave in order to park

Had a great experience here. Not only was the food good and affordable but our Waitress Sandra was personable and helpful with any questions. This place does get busy though! Great for a family breakfast and super happy that a burger was an option during breakfast hours

Came to Dallas for the weekend and found this place close to our hotel. The service was great. The food was delicious. We thought we would have to wait a while because they were so busy, but we got our food quickly. The portions are big, so worth the price. We will definitely visit again!

Pricey, but huge portions, so if you do leftovers, makes the tab not hurt as much. Good solid food

We had virtually just landed in Dallas from a very early flight from Florida, and we were extremely hungry. We had never been to the city and had no idea where to go. Found the diner through Google. The food was delicious and plentiful. Our server was friendly, delightful, and educational(she gave us background information on the diner). We will definitely go back when we visit Dallas again.
