Went there for the first time with my family, just 3 of us. We ordered the croquettas, grilled chicken sandwiches and the pan con bistek. Service was terrible! We had waited to get our menus about 10 minutes. It didnt take us long to figure out what to eat, the server was just sitting at the bar chit chatting with other people while we just waited. (Mind you, there were only 2 other tables, so really not much going on). Their chairs were very uncomfortable, theyre like a very small aluminum kind of seats. The canvas on the wall were a nice touch, but yea.. the chairs suck. Food was taking a little longer than expected. theyre hot sandwiches... Shouldnt have taken no more than 10 minutes since it was just meat being cooked and toasted bread both have veggies with side of fries. Received the sandwiches hot, fries were cold! I was pretty frustrated by the amount of time being there alone just waiting for the menu and taking the order. He also forgot the croquettas.. I still ordered them because I wanted to try them. The flavor was okay and they were fresh. By the time we got them, we were finished with our food. We were only checked on once, and at that point I was ready to go, I just went to the register to ask for a container for my daughters food. I would definitely not be returning. I had pretty high expectations, saw the reviews, but I see most of the reviews are just bar service.

This is rather difficult, because I hate being negative. However, I have no peace with my experience, and would Hate for someone else to pay their hard earned money to experience it. The ambience is nice, everything appears clean. You can tell the owners really take pride in their establishment. My biggest complaint: I highly recommend they do outside expert training, or get rid of YAMARA. My server, and I guess the bartender. I try to operate off Grace, however there was just a dark mean Spirit there even when being shown kindness. Wasn t sure it was safe to eat my food not a good feeling. Today was my 4th or 5th visit. I would very be hesitant to go back for that reason alone. Great coffee and I remember going there at night and having great cocktails and salsa dancing Each time my beans, rice, plantains are served luke warm as they had been sitting all day ..

This has to be the WORST cuba restaurant we have tried. The Churrasco was tho chuncks of meat (puro pellejo) saltyy, inedible. The rice hard as a rock and the beans were delivered on a coffee cup and no flavor found. I ordered a tres leches and they delivered flan which was horrible, no flavor at all. Also ordered a guayaba pastelito and ir berely had any guayaba in it. Im so sad I have to give this review on a Cuban restaurant because I am but at the same time this is nowhere near what cuban food really is.

This place is small but the food here is legit Cuban and worth traveling to East Dallas to get. The bread gets flown in periodically and is authentic. I had the Cuban sandwich and croquetas and a spicy mojito. Everything was hot, fresh and quickly served. Background music was great Cuban music.

They definitely need a real cuban chef . Well never eat here again

Had a wonderful time this evening trying some mojitos and nibbles. Luka took great care of us, checked back frequently, and answered our questions. We tried 3 different mojitos, and they were all excellent in different ways. All were hand-made at the bar, properly muddled and mixed. If you had a mojito once at a resort in Cancun...do yourself a favor and go try a real one here! The food we got was all apps, but filled us up and tasted great. Were planning on returning on Fri or Sat when they have live music. And more mojitos!!

They really need to update their hours. I showed up at 10 on a Friday night and on Google it states they close at midnight only to be told rudely they re closed. As I m typing this, it still states the place is open. I was excited to try this place but after this experience I ll never step foot there. I want to clarify that the open sign was still on and we walked in and we tried to sit at the bar and there were still plenty of people in there. We were rudely told by a waitress they were closed. Change your hours and stop wasting peoples time.

I used to frequent this cozy little cafe when I lived in Dallas, now living in the suburbs doesnt make it so easy, but decided to revisit this place once again, and it never fails to satisfy my craving for tropical Cuban cuisine. We started out with appetizers, ordering the Yucca Frita, Cuban Empanadas, and Bolitas de Bacalao. All of the sharable plates came out hot and fresh. My dining partner tried the Ropa Vieja (my all time favorite Cuban dish) and I decided to try the Arroz Con Pollo. Both were exceptional, and both tasted great! The Arroz con Pollo is enough to feed two people! We also had dessert, the bread pudding and the Chocolate Coconut cake and both were the perfect ending to a tasty meal. Highly recommend this place if youre looking for a unique dining experience!!

I was a regular client here and had several birthday parties here and shared this place with other friends. NOT anymore very dissapointed that recently I was charged $35 to my check.Apparently now there is a five dollar cover fee for the live music. Not sure why they added other peoples $5 dollar fee to my check without my consent then expect for me to pay. If this is the case there should be someone at the door charging a cover fee to listen to live music or letting us know before hand upon arriving. The waiter was very rude to us when the incident happened knowing we are regular customers. I will not be recommending this place to others.

Overall okay experience food wise. The mojitos were weak, but delicious. For a Monday night, I was looking for a tasty drink so I wasn t too disappointed, but if I had the same drink on a Friday night I might need a few to counteract the copious amounts of syrup.

Review updated: So we get here at 8:30 and literally were told to hurry up and order to go. So the place is not packed hand full of people. No order for drinks we literally had to wait for the food to get that. EVEN though we literally were sitting next to a bar ordered a simple beer . So disappointed. I had been literally waiting to try this place. Food was decent but SERVICE NO MANNERS. TOTALLY GET YOU WANT TO CLOSE BUT THIS WAS INSANE. So upon my review we get a personal call from the owner. He apologized for the wait staff and she did to. I think that was very noble. She came up and I advised probably better to use different wording. She understood, I explained why I felt that way, she was totally understanding and I understood they are tired and would like to start cleaning up as soon as possible. It was a long day and work is not easy. We will be back but most likely on a Friday when hours are later.

Yesterday, I enjoyed a wonderful lunch: a delicious pan (real Cuban bread) con bistec that came with tasty fries and a perfect Cuba Libre. Of Cuban heritage myself, Havana Cafe Dallas receives my highest rating for an all-around exemplary experience - welcoming, comfortable, and nostalgic. I was able to order and converse in Spanish, although the staff did also speak English, and my request for bastante cebollas on my sandwich was met with the look only another Latin person would recognize as sheer pleasure and a connection only those who know, know. This little gem allowed me to connect to an authentic Cuban experience that did not come anywhere near to emptying my strapped wallet, and I look forward to returning often! Dale!

My girlfriend and I have been coming here for 4 years. We came here on our 2nd date of knowing each other. So this place holds a special place in our hearts. They never disappoint with their selection of Cuban cuisine. But the amount of creativity within their mojitos certainly adds a twist to an old tropical favorite. If you want to start off by your meal with variety, try the Trio Cubano! But also some Croquetas as well! But the mains I highly recommend trying are the Bistec SALTEADO, Cerdo Asado, and Coconut Fish. And finally end it with a Cuban coffee and rum cake. We havent gone on a Friday night yet. But it looks like later in the evenings. It turns into a nightclub where theres Latin dancing and Latin music.

The drinks were just OKAY, couldve been better. The only issue I had was the table wasnt clean and the floor under our table was full of crumbs. The restaurant was empty during the time we went Monday, approximately 1:45pm, so there was no excuse for any seating areas to be uncleaned, when multiple staff were present. We did move to another table. But overall, I would return, as the food was tasty, fresh, and hot (made to order).

Went here on a Friday night 730pm. Took 4 ever to be noticed to take drink orders after being seated. The restaurant seems to be lacking staff to handle the customers on maybe a 75% full restaurant. Food flavors were good. The 1st problem****** Ordered pork chunks. The amount on the plate looked like they were rationing it. A few more chunks wouldnt hurt. 2nd: tip of 20% was already included for a table of 4. Not really sure for what since service was lacking. I suppose the waiting staff puts whatever they think they deserve, based on how overwhelmed they are due to lack of staff. Makes sense to who???????ohhhh. The waiter.... For those who speak Spanish: lack of pork in the pork dough dish...it seems like there is a shortage of pork in Cuban cuisine. I expected a normal amount, not something from the special period or the famous Cuban notebook. In addition, the bill came with a 20% tip included. 20% is what I lacked attention to as a customer. Difficult to get a glass of water in a restaurant at 75% capacity. It seems that there was also a shortage of waiters to serve customers. Thank goodness the food tasted good... Everything else left me with a bad taste in my mouth...... ***I dont need the restaurant to contact me. Just correct these errors.****

This is a family run operation, so things can get a little hectic sometimes. I have had no issues and always enjoy myself when we get lunch from here. The rice is cooked perfectly and I usually get pork which is always flavorful and plantains. It definitely can get very busy Friday and Saturday nights, and any times I didn t enjoy my experience they seemed a little overwhelmed. Will continue coming back though!

In the 2 years that I have been in this country touring states, I had not eaten a sancocho like this and when you enter the place there is a tremendous bad smell, in short, neither the food is good nor the cleanliness because where there is a bad smell there is no cleanliness

If you want to feel at home you should visit this place. Excellent service, cozy atmosphere, good and varied food although perhaps you need to watch the flavors a little when seasoning, I feel that the beans lacked flavor, but in general I really liked it and I would definitely visit them again, I highly recommend them .

The food, service and music met expectations. Our waitress and servers were simply nice and did their job well. BUT the smell by the dining area close to the fridge where people pick up to go is horrible. I think it s an owner need to look into issue might be pipes or plumbing it stinks horrible and they know it. We changed our table with no issues. Overall I recommend great time as couples, family and or great place with little ones.

I ordered a steak, passion fruit soda and salad , the steak came with salty white rice, and black beans without any seasoning, the meat was late and had a bad flavor, the passion fruit juice was hot despite having ice and with a ton of sugar! Of my meal, they only served the fried ripe plantain and the salad of tomatoes , lettuce and cucumber, all this food in bad condition and bad taste cost me 60 dollars, of course my companion ordered the juice, another salad and imperial rice that Despite being delicious according to her, it was salty! I do not recommend this place! Thank you!

I was expecting a good experience of a good satisfying portion of food but it seem like they were measuring every portion of food I was like wow almost $20.00 dollar a plate. I didn t mind spending the money since I was on vacation from Chicago. But when we got our food I was very upset it look like they cut one breast of chicken for 2 servings. Unbelievable I was like wow they are really watching their portion so sad to experience.I understand times are hard but please work on your portion for your prize that you re charging. I recommend google Cuban restaurants in Chicago so that you could see satisfying portion if you were to visit Chicago.I been a customer service rout driver for 21 years serving restaurants and fast food in the Chicagoland area.I never encounter this experience in a restaurant. I will never go back.
